One Wild Night? Well, that's not strictly true, as this live album was recorded at Bon Jovi concerts spanning three decades. But why be pedantic when the result is a live album that effectively doubles as a greatest-hits collection? Bon Jovi's songs are tailor-made for stadiums and arenas, and, from classic fist-in-the-air rockers ("Livin' on a Prayer," "Bad Medicine," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Runaway") to lighters-in-the-air numbers ("Keep the Faith," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "Something to Believe In"), the choices are suitably larger than life. The career-reviving single "It's My Life" sounds right at home, as do great covers of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" (recorded, appropriately enough, in Johannesburg in 1995) and the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" (performed with Sir Bob Geldof). --Robert Burrow

IT'S ONE WILD NIGHT, ALRIGHT!!!.......2007-02-17

Live Concert Versions of Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits.......2007-01-19
"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" by Bon Jovi, Is a compilation of Bon Jovi's best songs, performed at various concert events from 1985 to 2001. For Bon Jovi fans, it's classic Bob Jovi and a Must Have! If you like music recorded from "Live" performances, You will love this album! If you prefer "Studio-Cut" versions, you may not like this album because it has the sound and feel of a live concert.
zero stars.......2005-11-13
One WEAK night!...zero stars if that was available. I never realized Bon Jovi was this bad a live band. They obviously get a LOT of production help in the studio because this album (several different concerts in several different venues) is ALL bad. Sorry for them and sorry for me for buying it.
Bon Jovi rocks.......2005-08-09
I found this CD to be extemely uplifting, great music to listen to while driving.
not a greatest hits album.......2005-05-14
This is not Bon Jovi's greatest hits, and that's the only bad thing that anyone who likes Bon Jovi can say about this. It's a fun collection of some live great live performances. Bon Jovi is great in concert, interacting with the crowd, and building up the energy and fun. You can hear that the audience and performers had a great time. If you like Bon Jovi, then this is certainly worth the money!

Electrifying performers and pure-pop songwriters of the highest order, Toronto's Barenaked Ladies have emerged over a decade as that strangest of beasts. They'll never land a dishy cover story in Mojo Magazine, but as they reflect on those ribald years between 1991 and 2001, the five can allow themselves wry smiles, knowing that sometimes, just sometimes, the cream rises to the top. In addition to familiar radio staples such as "Pinch Me," "The Old Apartment," "Jane," "Alternative Girlfriend," and the ubiquitous "One Week," there's a trump card on All Their Greatest Hits that will prove irresistible to completists: the Ladies' buttery, acoustic version of Bruce Cockburn's "Lovers in a Dangerous Time." Recorded eons ago for a Cockburn tribute disc that almost immediately went out of print, the song has until now been a rare and highly coveted collector's item. Two news songs--"Thanks That Was Fun" and "It's Only Me (The Wizard of Magicland)"--were recorded specifically for this collection, while two others ("Brian Wilson" and "What a Good Boy") are captured live. But what really brings this album home is, ironically, "If I Had $1,000,000." One of their very first hits cut as the Ladies were learning to dovetail their so-called "acoustic hip-hop" into slicker pop sensibilities, "$1,000,000"--a simple knock-kneed love song with harmonies so tight they're practically braided--is a snapshot of a band with all the pieces in place just as the planets were about to align. --Kim Hughes

Awesome.......2007-07-12
We love all the Barenaked Ladies songs! This is a repurchase of the disc after we lost the first one and couldn't live without it.
Musical SUNSHINE Baby!!.......2007-03-14
Okay, so, if we were in a western, I wouldn't exactly be quick on the draw, but personally, I like getting to things in my own sweet time.
Six years (?) after the fact, the SpiritWorld is graced with this FANTASTIC cd-of 19 tracks, thank you very much-GET IT NOW!!
I was only familiar with the high inducing 'Falling For The First Time' track that's on the Malcolm in the Middle soundtrack, and only vaguely familiar with a few of the others, so I come to this as a newbie and I LOVE IT!!
Their quirky loquacious lyrics are funny, smart, smiley, honest and paranoid, the music is played with heart, it's beautiful and even the slower tracks you can snap to. A couple of the tracks are live versions which makes a nice change to the polished studio feel and it's sweet because you can hear the fans singing along in the background.
I can honestly say there's not a Homer's favorite brand of beer track on here; they're all FABOO, and some that are the faboo-est include the aforementioned Falling..., If I Had $1000000 and the spectacular Pinch Me.
I'd like to buy a doll house, use a shrinkomatic on these guys and have them play for me every time I opened the door. Or we could all just live together. I am so getting their entire back catalog and all their new and future ones, which, considering I'm more of a soundtracks girl, is saying a lot.
Lyrics aren't included in the booklet, but you do get a funny little story behind each song, and besides, they sing clearly enough, and you won't be able to stop playing it either, so you'll pick up on the words.
Bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend this, especially if you have a red cadillac and are going for a road-trip across America. Even just in your head. It's like pure musical sunshine.
A great album filled with hits at every turn!.......2007-02-23
I purchased this album after hearing only "One Week" and "If I had 1000000 dollars" from the radio. The two give you a taste of the wacky and zany streak that touches several of their songs, including the irreverant "Be My Yoko Ono." But they show a softer and more reflective side with tracks like "Call and Answer" as well. The variety of tracks is impresive.
As a rule, "best of" compilations tend to be littered with bad songs, but BNL really nailed it with this fantastic collection of songs. If you've heard and enjoyed any of their music, you owe it to yourself to check this one out!
Norms One.......2007-01-20
There is some good with bad along with this review. I felt previous reviews had recommended highly, but it did not live up to expectations. Having written that - there were some good tracks.
It's Barenaked Ladies, how could you go wrong!.......2007-01-03
I am a fan of the BNL, and this CD did not disappoint.

Good classic stuff!.......2007-02-06

Greatest Hits.......2007-01-11
I am very happy with my purchase of this CD. I am a big collector of Greatest Hits and adding this one to my collection is just a bonus especially if you enjoy the 90's alternative rock genre.I highly recommend it.
Melodious rock.......2007-01-09
This music is evokes a deep sense of reflection for me. Besides, the product is beautifully melodiuos.
Great representation of Collective Soul.......2006-12-31
Collective Soul is one of the best soft rock bands in my opinion. They add a good deal of variety into their tracks while maintaining a connection back to their roots and their own particular sound. After hearing several of their songs and loving them, I recently got all of their CDs. At first, I thought I'd only like the songs I knew, but that wasn't the case. All of their CDs are excellent, and almost every song is hit material.
However, for the Casual collective soul fan, this disk is a great representation of Collective Soul's work. If you want to try out Collective Soul for the first time, or have heard a few of their songs and want a compilation of their best, this is the disk for you. It really is a fantastic representation of their work.
Greatest hits.......2006-11-12
Covers just about anything you could want from this Collective Soul time period!

Despite the number of guests on hand, Dr. Dre's decade-/century-/millennium-ending sequel to The Chronic is, like its predecessor, less a stack of posse cuts and more an elegantly seamless work from West Coast hip-hop's premier auteur. Deliberately cinematic in everything from its mix of moods to dramatic musical surges, 2001 is Dre's assessment of the gangsta life in medium shots. No longer fully immersed in violence and random sex, yet aware of their attraction, he often lets his guests blow steam about whatever's on their minds. When he takes stock of gangbanging circa late '99, though, he drops his neutral tone; he even provides another half-joking but stern warning to protégé Eminem on "What's the Difference." Between his discovery of Slim Shady, visits from old pal Snoop Dogg, and, most of all, the masterful sound and flow of this CD, Dre should shut down all talk of his supposed irrelevance. --Rickey Wright

Propelling gangsta rap into the new millennium..........2007-05-14
By 1999, Dr. Dre had gained the status of being one of hip hop's most important pioneers both as a rapper and a producer, the man behind such hip hop classics as Straight Outta Compton, Doggystyle, and his own trendsetting debut The Chronic. At this point, he was already moving past the genre of g-funk that he had helped establish seven years earlier, instead focusing on his new Aftermath Records and promoting new artists like Eminem. On "2001," Dre returns with a vengeance, transforming the sound of west coast hip hop once again. On The Chronic, Dre pioneered the smooth, laidback, rolling and woozy hip hop sound of g-funk, which would be relentlessly imitated for the next decade. So with this album, Dre reestablishes himself as a musical genius, defining a whole new style of west coast rap that set the bar for the coming years. Gone are the lovable slow hollow basslines and whining synths, the female vocalists, and the extensive p-funk samples, in favor of a fast, angrier sound. The beats on "2001" are creative and original, musically the west coast's most important album of the last decade. The beats are more electronic and futuristic sounding, they are upbeat and more menacing. A deeper listen shows just how rich the productions are musically; the electronic instrumentals and thumping bass are very catchy and addictive. Even the skits have great beats. Lyrically, Dre and his crew of LA rappers are furious and explicit, full of threats, gang-throwing, and gun talk. Like on The Chronic, almost every song is sort of a posse-cut, and the frequently featured guests include Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Eminem, Kurupt, and Hitman, as well as single cameos by numerous others. The verses are not for the weak at heart, but this is gangsta rap at its most provocative and entertaining. The consistency is quite admirable, there's no slow songs or any odd cuts, just straight hardcore the whole time. You know what a classic this is because every single song is so recognizable, I've heard at least half of these songs on the radio at one point or another, they're such epic anthems. Overall "2001" is an incredibly influential album and is tons of fun to listen to.
Following an intro, the album begins with "The Watcher," an eerie production featuring Knocturnal, a great start. Dre shows his dark sense of humor over a droopy, dark musical backing on "F... You," featuring partner-in-crime Snoop Dogg and Devin the Dude. This is followed by the absolutely classic "Still D.R.E.," one of his discography's finest songs. The beat is incredible, a hard-hitting bass heavy groove, and Snoop and Dre both spit great verses, asserting they remain the same gangstas from the early-90s, this song's a true anthem. "Big Egos" is a memorable, depressed collaboration with Hitman. My favorite song is "Xxplosive." This beat is absolutely incredible, one of my favorites of all time. The blippy instrumental and the head-nodding bass are perfect, it's just so catchy. Nate Dogg and Kurupt both make inspired appearances on this hip hop classic. The furious "What's the Difference" has a very well known beat and threatening lyrics from Dre, Xzibit, and Eminem. The shorter "Lightspeed" showcases some space-age production. "Forgot About Dre" is the next classic, an infamous Eminem collaboration that immediately became an anthem. An incredible beat is covered with some of Dre and Em's angriest lyrics. Both lyrically and musically, this song embodies the entire album's quality, establishing a new force in rap. This is followed by the rap standard "The Next Episode," arguably Dre's most famous single. The thumping, upbeat track has one of the most well-known instrumentals and simply fun rhymes from Dre and Snoop, giving way to Nate Dogg's classic "Holdup!" cadence. "Let's Get High" is fast and memorable, and the dreary "B... N..." is another unique collabo. "Murder Inc." is a chilling narrative over an equally scary beat. The posse cut "Some LA N..." brings together west coast legends King Tee, MC Ren, Xzibit, and Knocturnal for one of the album's best songs lyrically. The unforgettable "Housewife" has an infectious beat and an inescapable hook, this song also appears on Kurupt's album Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha. The simple yet satisfying "Ackrite" precedes the lovable "Bang Bang," a gangsta anthem. The incessant gunshots and chanting are awesome. The album ends with the wonderful "The Message," a conscious track dedicated to Dre's late brother. The sad lyrics are supported by music and vocals to match.
"2001" is one of the most important albums of the last decade, breaking the mold and reinventing the sound of west coast hip hop. Dre once again proves his musical genius, and this album is a consistent and inventive masterpiece. This shouldn't factor into my review, but this album just has tons of sentimental value to me as well, I remember when this came out it seemed like every one of my friends was playing it all the time. "2001" is a must have for any fan of gangsta rap.

Amazon.com's Best of 2001
Director Lasse Hallstrom's recipe for Chocolat is bittersweet, a tale of human hope and frailty imbued with no small amount of symbolism. It's a story that requires a deft, sensitive musical touch, and Hallstrom has wisely turned again to English composer Rachel Portman for the honors. As she did on The Legend of Bagger Vance and her previous, Academy Award-nominated collaboration with Hallstrom, The Cider House Rules, Portman walks the fine line between preciousness and delicacy with grace and dignity. The gypsy flavor of Django Reinhardt's and Stephane Grappelli's "Minor Swing" sets the story's place and time, while Portman's gentle pastoral melodies outline its emotional core, with a few gratifying excursions into more Euro-ethnic music to keep it well-seasoned. The result is another quiet, powerful Portman masterpiece. --Jerry McCulley

Fabulous! Thank you Rachel Portman........2007-06-09
The movie is pure magic and the Rachel Portman did not let us down. I can listen to this music again and again, never tiring of it's up lifting magical ability to transport me to the French countryside with a smile of delight.
As much of a treat as a mug of hot chocolate with a dash of chilli pepper!.......2007-05-18
This is a powerful soundtrack with a meditteranean feel, an evocative reminder of an outstanding film. There is a wonderful mix of melodies - some beautiful, haunting, melancholic and intrigueing, others joyful and uplifting. It's a bit of classical mixed with a bit of latin guitar and a touch of gypsy. A couple of the tracks are Johnny Depp playing multi-layered ethnic guitar solo. Superb. I had to have it. Try it. You'll be glad you did.
Chocolat,Rachel Portman.......2007-05-16
With out a doubt, this masterpiece is one of the greatest pieces of work on the planet, so far in this century. While Srticly for the experienced
connesurer of sophisticated pop classic this CD is heavenly and divine.
absolute must have. Perfect for ADULT ROMANCE evenings that include
potential making out and drinking alittle fine wine after dinner.
Chocolat, The Soundtrack.......2007-05-12
An absolutely fabulous collection of music, we play it continuously, there is something organic about. Certain Tracks stir a very deep feeling and reminds me of picnics by the riverside. Whilst playing and reading to which section of the film each piece belongs, it brings back very clear images of the Actors and the part they played. A Great film and superb music.

"How about a bad title?" wonders Spencer Kayden's Little Sally in "Too Much Exposition." "That could kill a show pretty good." It's a tribute to the skill deployed by the Urinetown creative team (Mark Hollman, music and lyrics; Greg Kotis, book and lyrics) that its title doesn't kill the show. Set in a near-future in which water depletion has led to a ban on private toilets, this may be the only musical in history in which one of the leads makes a fortune on pee. But the show (which originated Off-Broadway before graduating to the big league) limits its subversive intent to subject matter and is refreshingly classic in approach and structure--think Weill-meets-Lewis Carroll. Backed by a small ensemble, the cast (with John Cullum in a turn nothing short of brilliant as the evil urinal magnate) has a field day with Kotis and Hollman's frequently hilarious score. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
An Amazing Find.......2007-04-03
I just recently discovered this gem of a musical. It's a stand out show with a unique touch. If heard a few outside musicals (The Rocky Horror Show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch...) but this one stands out from them. The music is amazing, the lyrics are creative, and the humor is ripe.
With a chamber music-esque overture, the tone is set. 'Too Much Exposition' is a great introduction to Urinetown (the musical). Officer Lockstock addresses the audience about what they should expect from the show. Little Sally wants to let the audience in on the water shortage but Lockstock stops her. ("You're too young to understand it now, but nothing can kill a show like too much exposition." "How 'bout bad subject matter? Or a bad title, even? That could kill a show pretty good.")
I've read what others have written: you don't get the whole humor of the show unless you've seen it. I haven't seen it, but this recording is enough to get me see it. (That is, if a production nearby, even a high school production, is put on.)
The songs that I find myself listening to over and over are:
Too Much Exposition (not really a song, but still...)
Urinetown
It's A Privilage to Pee
Mr. Cladwell (a wonderfully sweet villain song)
Cop Song (a wonderfully fun villain song)
Follow Your Heart
Don't Be the Bunny
Act 1 Finale
What Is Urinetown?
Run, Freedome, Run!
Why Did I Listen to That Man?
We're Not Sorry (a great 20's sound, reminds me of 'Chicago')
I See A River (I really love this song... the feeling gotten across, before Lockstock comes out to comment, is 'Oh, everything is going to be okay', but Lockstock informs us that all is NOT well)
With a cry of "Hail Mathus!" the show ends. I just have to listen again, after making a trip to the bathroom.
Urinetown the Musical.......2007-03-10
This CD has all the songs from the show. The show is great and this rendition is about the best.
Not for Everyone.......2006-12-28
This musical is a great piece for the 21st century no doubt, that being said it takes some getting used to. The musical cannot be taken at face value, there are lots of things happening under the surface and it takes some bites at things musical theater doesn't usually take, like itself. On the surface it is strange, and not really something people would listen to over and over. However, once you figure it out, it's fun to listen to it again to find all the things that are really going on. It is very funny, and says some good things about the current state of the world. For musical theater fans this is questionable, if you just like the toe-tapping happy go lucky feel, this isn't it. But if you like the social commentary that goes along with that toe tapping, this is a must. NOT FOR FIRST TIME BROADWAY LISTNERS. Favorite Song: "Look at the Sky"
"DON'T BE THE BUNNY!".......2006-12-04
My son, a high school senior, told me his first show of this year's theatrical season was going to be "Urinetown". My response was something like ... No, really, what shows are you doing this year? Then he brought home a recording of it, and I was hooked right away by the lyrics. Over the years my son has been involved in many performances, but he and the rest of the cast had a real blast preparing for, and performing, this show! He wanted Lockstock, but was cast as Cladwell ... Owned it ... Loved it!
I am no Broadway expert by any stretch of the definition, but this show is wonderfully entertaining! You will see (and hear) snippets from other shows, you will pick up on some of even the more subtle stabs at musicals as a whole, you will groan, you will laugh and you will enjoy ... But only if you try not to take it too seriously.
Get past the title (in this case I certainly think it did not "...kill a show pretty good"), relax, and be entertained. And for goodness sake, if you have a chance to see it performed live, do so! A musical that pokes fun at itself? Yes, a refreshing departure from the norm, and worth the price of admission.
Now my favorite CD, EVER!.......2006-10-03
After reading Urinetown (never having seen it), I wondered what on earth it sounded like. Most of the book is just lyrics, and I had no idea what they sounded like. When I finally listened to the music, I found an incredibly complex, catchy, and moving CD.
The music isn't so much complex as it is creative and works with the lyrics. Keep in mind this is a comedy, but this comedy does have soaring melodies and very great simulataneous singing moments (I can't remember what that is specifically called, but think of "Tonight Reprise" from West Side Story). These songs not only entertained me, it moved the story along.
My favorite song is "Why Did I Listen to that Man?" as it is the song where everything comes together and reaches the climax (both in story-line and musically). However, I have a soft spot for every Cladwell song (and I haven't found a person yet who doesn't love "Don't Be the Bunny) as well as every song. What's best about this musical is the range of genres (but not so much as one would find in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat).
The cast is truly talented and can perform these songs. It's a very strong recording for what I feel (after finally getting to see it) is the best contemporary musical to date. Not only will your sides split, but you'll learn something too. Best of all, it's a musical for everyone. Unlike other equally hilarious comedies (*cough*The Producers*cough*), Urinetown never relies on "unappropriate" and "adult" material to deliver laughs, although you will have to get over the "really awful title."

Good Blend.......2007-05-17
If you are trying to decide between this recording and "Cloudburst," pick this one. The female voices do not have that shrieking quality that they do on "Cloudburst" and the soprano soloist from the BYU Singers is fantastic.
I do prefer the faster pacing of some of the pieces on the "Cludburst" recording, but this one is better all around.
My Favorite Choral Composer.......2007-03-09
Taken as a whole, Eric Whitacre is my favorite choral composer. I have to listen to his music at least once a week. As far as student choirs go, BYU does a stunning job for the most part. The few minor mistakes do not detract from the music. This is an essential album in my book.
whitacre.......2007-01-25
I bought this CD because it included the piece "Lux aurumque", which I feel must have been inspired because it transforms the listener into another realm. The other pieces are well done, too, but none reach me in the same way as "Lux aurumque". I love the tight overlapping harmonies and suspensions.
Choral excellence.......2007-01-07
I asked for, and received, this recording for Christmas based on the excellence of prior BYU performances and having really enjoyed performing Cloudburst in the past. This recording does not disappoint. It excels on every level. The choral writing is compelling and the performance of the BYU Singers is simply amazing. I've been around choral singing for many, many, years and the level of achievement here is stunning. Based solely on hearing recordings and seeing their recorded concerts on PBS, I would recommend anything from the BYU choral department.
Spine tingling.......2006-12-29
I was VERY suprised to hear this kind of sound from a college choir! The blend of the choir and the emotion behind the music is enough to give anyone goosebumps. From the soaring harmonies of "Water Night" to the subdued tenderness of "Sleep" to the playfulness of "Leonardo" this disc has something for everyone. A guaranteed Best Buy!

Jim Reeves.......2007-06-08
Good compilation. However, on some of the numbers the background music practically covers Jim's great voice. I know strings were in at that time, which really dates the recordings, but somehow they could be toned down a bit. Altogether, a great addition to your collection.

I introduced my elderly parents to the world of CDs by buying them a very easy CD player to use and the Jim Reeves CD was one of the first CDs I purchased for them. They love the selection of songs and are really enjoying it.
Awesome Voice!.......2005-08-09
This guy has got the richest most sincere voice in the history of male singers in my book. Sweet, sad and silly lyrics adorn all of these songs, and his voice just adds to the quality of the overall music. I definitely recommend this for those who enjoy oldies but goodies.

This commemorative reissue of music from 2001: A Space Odyssey combines the Also sprach Zarathustra theme, various Johann and Richard Strauss segments, and a ballet suite by Aram Khachaturian--all of which prove how much Stanley Kubrick's film attempts to avoid the soundtrack clichés of most science-fiction movies. Instead of the expected sci-fi effects, there is a more ironic application of music that would be otherwise incongruous to the celestial settings. Here, "The Blue Danube" complements scenes involving weightlessness and descending spacecraft, while Gyorgy Ligeti's creepy "monolith" music connotes Armageddon more than interplanetary exploration. The tracks play as they had appeared on the original soundtrack release back in the '60s, but there is also previously unreleased supplemental material and a dialogue montage entitled "HAL 9000." --Joseph Lanza
Customer Reviews:
great music, great reissue.......2007-04-16
This is a great collection of music and I love the great mastering job that was done with this. The inclusion of the tracks from the original MGM soundtrack release are a great bonus. The liner notes include interpretations of the film and the music that are insightful.
I noticed that the music in the movie is mixed in surround sound, it would be great if they could release this on DVD-Audio or SACD surround. I'd buy it again!
fantastic.......2007-03-11
I have the old lp release of this music, what an incredible array of classical music, topped off by my personal favorite piece of music in the world, the blue danube waltz. Let yourself be carried away in deep space by this incredible score.
whoa........2006-09-04
"Atmospheres" was enough to make me buy this album. just try to imagine what eternity might sound like. okay, now you know exactly what Atmospheres is. wow. who else could having captured the feelings that are in this score? this is above talented. this is above genius. this is above avand garde. this is too good to be labeled as anything at all.
Great Music for Halloween, very creepy.......2006-03-17
I bought this CD to use for a haunted house program, the music will creep you out.
Bleakest of Futures..........2005-10-08
The atonal, unsettling atmosphere of much of the music of Ligeti is fitting to the bleak vision of a human future reigned by nothing but cold technology and of humans drained of emotions except for the deepest animalist fear originating from our inner reptilian brainparts which have not changed for over millions of years. The incongruity of Johann Strauss' lovely 'An der schönen blauen Donau' with the cold technicality of spacefaring as depicted here could not be more complete, but what a perfect find on Stanley Kubrick's part! It makes the uneasiness and confusion even greater. And then, to top it of, the complete and flabbergasting irony of using Richard Strauss' Fanfare for the 'rise of Man' in his 'Also Sprach Zarathustra': what a great destiny for 'Man' indeed, this bleakest of bleak visions of the future!
As a soundtrack for '2001: A Space Odyssey' this music together on one album is just great.
And besides, this soundtrack has indeed, like so many others I guess, made me aware of the genius of Ligeti, which otherwise might have gone unnoticed for me.

Amazon.com's Best of 2001
Though a well-publicized marriage did much to raise his celebrity profile, Guy "Mr. Madonna" Ritchie's claim as one of the world's most promising young filmmakers was already secure. Extending the gambit he began on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the English director's handpicked collection of pop songs for his jewel heist romp Snatch is a dizzying delight that eschews era and genre concerns in favor of flavorful character and loopy fun. Though his musical sense is one of the elements that have inspired Tarantino comparisons, Ritchie is clearly a league of one here. With a little fresh input from musical ally Klint, this anthology score ranges from the electro club mixes of Overseer and Mirwais to the vintage R&B workouts of Maceo Parker, Huey "Piano" Smith, and Bobby Byrd, with some pop kitsch of the 1970s (Johnston Brothers' "Hernando's Hideaway") and '80s (the missus's "Lucky Star") to keep the proceedings ever fresh and askew. Ritchie's pop choices are no less inspired, from Oasis and Massive Attack to the Specials' classic, "Ghost Town," and The Stranglers' own underrated jewel, "Golden Brown." --Jerry McCulley

Bruce's Review.......2007-02-02
Some of the tracks were somewhat disturbing so I skipped them when I recorded this album from CD to cassette. Overall, the tracks were eclectic and energetic. Listening to them definitely reminded me of specific scenes from the movie, which I own on VHS format. Down with digital and up with analog!
More than a Soundtrack.......2007-01-05
Not typically a fan of soundtracks. This one is awesome! Great collection of songs with great choice of dialogue mixed in. Listen to this one all the way through.
One more time..........2006-07-01
I have watched this movie so many times, and it is still great. I love Guy Richie's creactivity. An all star cast mixed with a great plot and that sly under the door humor make all much better than your normal hit man comedy.
Great Music.......2006-02-25
I mainly bought this to get the Mirwais - Disco Science track, but the whole cd is good. If you love the movie, you'll definately enjoy the cd.
It works in so many circumstances!.......2006-01-16
What a great soundtrack! For me, the soundtrack is the make or break point in some movies. In Snatch, it just enhanced the coolness of the movie. Dennis Farina was magnificent, and the sound clips of him are great on the CD.
There are many highlights. "Supermoves" by Overseer is a very in your face, distorted techno track. Works great on an expressway of some sort.
"Cross the Tracks" by Maceo and the Macks is the best song on the CD, nuff said. Really funky groove, adequate vocals, great backup instruments.
"Disco Science" has a nice throbbing bass throughout, and it culminates with musical insanity. Great.
The instrumental "F*cking in the Bushes" by Oasis worked great in that fight scene.
"Lucky Star" by Madonna... whipped. JK. I guiltily enjoyed this.
"Don't you just know it", the last track, was a superb way to round out the soundtrack, and the whole movie for that matter.
What else can I say? BUY IT!!!
