A Very Good Sequel - Worth the purchase.......2001-08-06
I stumbled upon the second one at the record store this weekend (sorry ...) just before giving up the hope of finding it in person. This is a terrific CD. The DJ's mixing Bossa Nova titles and Brazilian music in general accompanied by live musicians is quite the thing these days.
The first reviewer was correct in that this cd definitely feels jazzier than the first one. There is far more instrumentation, and all in all some of the tracks are longer. Terrific music, terrific sounds and great if this is what you are listening to on the way to the classy latin night club. This is a great CD - the hardest part is to compare it to another, other than the first cd that came out. If you like the sound of BossaCucaNova's O Barquinho or some of their newer work from Brasilidade, you may like this one. However it differs from BossaCucaNova in that it's jazzier!
bahia blues.......2001-04-26
it has a relaxing vibe... it makes you wanna close your eyes tap your foot and bop your head... it takes you to brazil...it makes you feel like you're sitting on a beach... sunset... nice cool drink..breeze blowin...sand under your feet.... and i threw my beeper in the sea.....big ups to DJ Spinna and Monet!
Worth the Trip.......2001-04-25
After the great first edition of Trip Do Brasil, the sequel, V.2, will again get everybody addicted who likes Brasilian-style vibes mixed eletronically. This one is jazzier and worth a front space in your record shelf (maybe right next to V.1).

Customer Reviews:
Volume 2 is jazzy and spacious.......2005-04-03
This sequel is more jazzy than the original Trip Do Brasil, and while very interesting Vol. 2 deserves a name like Jazz Do Brasil, because it lacks the trippy quality and overall consistency of Vol. 1. With its jazz and pop influences it yearns for some of the raw bass lines and other electronic simplicity that made Trip Do Brasil so deeply worthy. While some tracks are lacking, others make Vol. 2 worth collecting. It's nice to listen to for ambient tones or light dance purposes.
Good Sequel.......2004-03-13
I remember picking this up in the music store. I enjoyed Trip Do Brasil vol 1, even though the sound was a bit raw. After finding out that there was actually a sequel I knew that I had to check it out! Please note - this is the same as the other "Trip Do Brasil" listed above that's a bit more expensive.
And wow, did it blow me away. The vibe of this cd is like an electronic/jazz bossa sound. Think of a sound that's a bit more live, but not as polished as today's Schema musicians (Gerardo Frisina, etc.). I really dig this - especially the way it starts! It starts out with hard to find Russ Gabriel and his cut "Jelba", followed up with Ben Mays "Whassssssup This Morning!" and then "Non Fatiguing Natural Silk". Not al of the songs grabbed me... like "Ibis Vermelho" is a cut that you will either love or hate with it's sort of 70's styled electronic sound and cheesy vocal. But all in all this CD does have a nice latin club feel to if and if you were into compilations like "Eighteenth Street Lounge Jet Society", or cd 2 of Hedkandi's "Serve Chilled vol 3", this is DEFINITELY up your alley.
I recommend this - definitely if you have the first one, you'll wanna check this out. It's a more modern sound to the first release and I still pop it in to check out Jelba and remember the summer vibes. Also, this wasn't the last of the Trip Do Brasil cds... they had a semi-remix project out aptly titled "Trip Do Brasil 2.5". And again, if you like this, check out the two mentioned cd's above and Brazilectro vol 2, which was from around the same time period, and Faze Action's "PureBraziliance".

Hidden Gem.......2005-03-24
If you are a DJ, this is a swiss army knife in your musical-house back pocket. If you simply like electronica with a heavy syncopated and musical influence, get this! A very special and unique album.
Excellent Electronic/Acid Mix.......2000-10-20
For anyone that has found this CD and is considering getting it, get it! It is a fantastic CD! However you should know that it is a heavy electrical and acid jazz kind of sound. If you have heard Suba's album or Brasil 2mil type of sounds, you will definitely appreciate the music on this disc. the artists are very creative and the rythm just moves, the songs have soul and a piece of the Brazilian underground scene is felt in each track. Notable tracks are 2, 3, 5, 11 and 12 in my opinion, but you will prohably like the others as well. Pick it up! It's a great Import to own + if you go out at night, it's excellent in defining the mood on the way to whatever club or nightspot it may be. I'm lucky I got to get it!
Electronically Lush and Funky.......2000-06-09
This is a good album. I am a fan of electronic and Brazillian music so naturally this CD aroused my curiosity. Usually the marriage between world and electronic seems to be unsuccessful but it works well here. For anyone who liked the "New Latinaires" volumes 1 and 2 or the other Brazillian electric music compilation "Caipirissima", I recommend this. The music is jazzy, funky, tropical, and hypnotic. Vocals are usually peppered lightly with a few exceptions. Traditional Brazillian music is still the best but this is a nice innovation nevertheless. For a darker and less "pretty" approach with a little more of a drum and bass edge try "Caipirissima" (eg. Amon Tobin). By the way the linear notes are creative, colorful, and fun.

Customer Reviews:
Great Electric Brazil.......2004-02-09
Oh boy... I remember the day I got this one and the night I first listened to it. On the way to a latin club in Boston, I was early, sunroof open, nice system, warm but not too hot night in early August of 2000. Good memories, great beats and some pretty impressive tracks!
This is the first in the series of Trip Do Brasil cd's, which I believe spans to 3 volumes with the 3rd aptly titled 2.5 (remix project). And this was a great foundation. You have awesome electronic rythms, fantastic beats and some pretty sweet charm in the cuts. Listening to the way Braz'iu glides in your sound system will certainly get you. It's consistent, and then the little touch of the piano and guitar that's just a slight slight slight step behind. And then there's Chorando Sim, a throwback to an old Brazilian classic. Not to mention DJ Cam's jazzed up and beat mix of "Crickets Sing for Ana Maria", a cut made famous by Marcos Valle.
I highly recommend this cd. While it's certainly a bit old in terms of the current standards, it does the trick for me in remembering and pointing out where some of the artists of now get some ideas. Please note - not all of the tracks really pulled me in, and some of the material here is a bit dated. But that's not enough for me to pull it down to the middle of the pack in rating. I'd also recommend picking up the second edition which is a little bit jazzier and a step up from this one, whnich by now seems "raw". The third, the remix project, is also quite good but not quite as strong as the original two. But Ibis Vermelho in the remix is pretty good.

Customer Reviews:
It really is... 2 1/2.......2002-10-01
Having collected the previous two Trip DO Brasil's, I felt obligated to give this one a try. The first one was very raw, yet had some tremendously smooth beats and electric samba's and jazz. Who can forget the way "Do Bresil" just sort of glided through the speakers with the paino touches in the background?
And then with the second trip do Brasil, the bar was risen with artists like Russ Gabriel to name a few, and a whole festive, live and action sound overwhelmed the systems. I guess it was the Trip do Brasil series that turned me on to another facet of electric music still pumping out of Brasil - and to make it more, it wasn't dark music really - at least not the second release.
And now you have this one, which has a few tracks from the previous two and a few new ones - but the old ones have been remixed and revamped. None too clearer than Ibis Vermelho... which is my favorite beat on the disc.
This release is admittedly more on the beats side, not as jazzy by any means. That said, be a bit careful in what you expect as the second Trip Do Brasil was defrinitely jazzier than the first. However you'll definitely enjoy this one - especially if you have the Caipirinha (drink... can't remember the name of the green/silver covered album that featured Amon Tobin/Suba etc.) compilation. Check it out before you buy it!
