On Fear of a Blank Planet veteran progressive-rock act Porcupine Tree takes up the task of exploring the alienating forces of the media and its impact on our youths and ourselves. Fear's titular cut features lyrics rife with allusions to the confusing, isolating effects of TV, the X-Box, drugged out consumer escapades, and the ennui that arrives with prescription and self-prescribed numbness. "My Ashes" advances the themes of isolation, as a young person becomes increasingly estranged from himself; "Anesthetize" aptly captures dull apathy with accuracy and knowing but perhaps delves to deep into the dark depths and instead of alleviating pain and pressure instead deepens it via a track that fails to offer much emotional or mental counterpoint. The tune does feature an exceptionally lyrical guitar solo from Rush's Alex Lifeson and proves that if anyone can write a sprawling, throbbing epic it's most likely Porcupine Tree. Elsewhere, such as on the beautifully crafted "Sentimental" and "Way Out of Here," Wilson and Co. land squarely between the epic grandeur of peak-era Pink Floyd and the psychically distant cool of Radiohead, a feat that doesn't as much demonstrate how well PT echoes those bands as it shows us how expansive the English quartet's music and emotional vocabulary is. For elder listeners Fear probably won't serve as the powerful statement it wants to be--its themes have been explored to more exacting impact before and, musically, it's fairly standard progressive fare--but it is a strong and intelligent album and for a generation that's grown numb from three-minute ditties about life at the end of the country club cul-de-sac that embrace rather than rage against the dying of the light, it may serve as a wake up call and provide hope for a brighter and more color-infused tomorrow. --Jedd Beaudoin
Customer Reviews:
They've done it!.......2007-07-12
I'll admit, I was skeptical. I consider all of Porcupine Tree's albums from Signify all the way up through In Absentia to be five star albums. All of them are nearly flawless, and each of them is groundbreaking in their own way. They quietly became the best band of the new millenium. Then came Deadwing. Deadwing is a solid album, but to me, it is *only* four stars. While it does have some of their best work, it *gasp* has a few weak tracks at the beginning. And much worse, it doesn't seem to be a breakthrough album like each of their previous four.
Then came the announcement that the new album would be titled "Fear of a Blank Planet." I thought, "This could either work or it will be a complete disaster." I heard the two tracks that found their way out to the internet before the release, and there was one brilliant track and a better version of "Deadwing" (the song, that is). So, to be honest, I was a bit nervous.
After a few months of digesting it, I can now say, with excitement and relief, that this is PT's best work yet. With the exception of a couple minutes at the end of "Anesthetize", every single second of this album is solid. It begins with the heaviest track on the album, musically and perhaps lyrically as well. They're not messing around here!
After we are treated to a very nice, atmospheric melody in "My Ashes" (the first PT track in some time to feature strings), we get to experience the brilliance that is most of "Anesthetize" (clocking in at 17 minutes or so). This track, albeit epic, is actually fairly minimalistic. We get repetitive, thinly-layered guitar parts over a trip-hop bass and drum beat which is reminiscent of circa-Up The Downstairs PT. The drums make this songs work, and they make it work well. The heavy riffs at some points in the songs are some of the best Steven Wilson has created.
Sentimental has a much lighter feel and flows softly and smoothly. It also has a sound different than anything they've done before, with high-pitched clean guitars ala U2 (though I'm not a U2 fan in the slightest...). This is followed by what is perhaps the weakest songs on the album, Way Out Of Here (which is not bad by any means).
The album closes (some would say too soon) with Sleep Together, which is absolutely brilliant. For all the flak it has gotten in some of these reviews, I consider this one of the most interesting pieces they've put out lately, with a feel that is completely different than anything they've done before. It ends in epic fashion, with thick strings, keyboards, and guitars reminiscent of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, except not as unneccesarily long.
This album is simply phenomenal. They've outdone themselves. Steven Wilson has demonstrated with flying colors that he's still got it.
Will This Be The Breakthrough?.......2007-07-10
Its been about five years now since I first was introduced to the music of Porcupine Tree and I have found that the more I listen, the more I find to like. In another era not so long ago, PT would have been bigger than Pink Floyd was at its zenith and deservedly so. Steven Wilson and his band are so good that they nearly overshadow almost anything else being played today. The music is spectacular, the lyrics are thoughtful and deeply intelligent. The big question is whether Fear of A Blank Planet will be the breakthrough that catapults Porcupine Tree into the upper echelons of superstardom.
That may just be the case. With Alex Lifeson and Robert Fripp on board, literally millions of their fans blissfully unaware that Porcupine Tree exists will now be left wondering how a band so good could have been around so long and escaped popular notice. There is a market for great music out there as the success of bands like Rush and Radiohead proves, its just that there are few outlets for it. With luck, the rising popularity of bands like Porcupine Tree will force a change.
I had to listen to Fear of A Blank Planet several times before I appreciated it as much as I now do. There isn't really a weak point on it. From the first notes of the title cut to the final notes of Sleep Together, the listener will be transfixed by the layers of sound that are both hard-driving and dreamily soaring, and by the relentless despair of the lyrics.
Fans of the last couple of years' harder-edged direction of Porcupine Tree will love the title cut and also or even especially the epic Anesthetize which feature's Rush's Alex Lifeson. Those who prefer the spacier soundscapes of PT's earlier years will enjoy My Ashes, Sentimental, and Way Out of Here. The final cut, Sleep Together, offers something to both camps. Me, I like it all!
Fear of A Blank Planet is a recording that will spend a lot of time in my CD changer. Some have suggested that it may be the album of the year. I say its definitely in the running. If you haven't yet heard it, listen and hear what I mean. If you have been lukewarm on Porcupine Tree, this should be the album that makes you a confirmed fan.
Pretty good.......2007-07-08
Steve Wilson did a good job on this one.
It is very good. I have enjoyed everything that Porcupine Tree has done, except Stupid Dream. It sucked.
Blank Planet is WAY better than Stupid Dream but not quite as good as Up the Downstair, The Sunday of Life, Deadwing, or In Absentia.
BUT I still give it 5 stars!
Blank Planet - Better than Deadwing?.......2007-07-08
Steven Wilson and his confreres have created an album of such pure expression which captures the torpid state of today's adolescence. Mr. Wilson's lyrical snapshots focus on the anemic and burned-out rythems which plague the children of a technological world in which sadly parents no longer rule. Porupine Tree have given us six beautiful songs to infect our subconcious and make our feet tap to instantaneuos hits even though radio stations won't touch anything outside their "formula". Although I will not comment on each song here, I must at least bestow praise for my favorite track "Anesthetize". It begins with Gavin Harrison's perfect rolling drum signatures which never seem to let up and keep growing into such an explosive tune repleat with an excellent guitar solo from Alex Lifeson (Rush) and morphs into such a beautiful solemn ending - I never saw it coming. I have to admit, I cannot stop listening to this song. This album could be better than Deadwing (which is awesome)! If you have never purchased a Porcupine Tree album, start right here. It is uncommon to find music of this caliber! Start now and then pray for the children.
The [near]Perfect Drug.......2007-07-05
If Porcupine tree were prodigal musicians, we'd have perfection on our hands. But let us not forget... there's no such thing as perfect. Within the context of Steven Wilson's vision, it's an A+. So you can't touch him - he knows what he is after, and I'm convinced that he gets it. But to insert objectivity into a review, it must be from the global perspective. How does this perform on a broad musical spectrum?
And again I find myself yearning for just a bit more musicianship - not much - but a bit. Perhaps this is made obvious when viewed against the more definitive perfection of the lyrics. In my book, lyrics have always been about 40% the weighting, with the music being responsible for the 60%. So lyrics alone don't carry an album (do you hear that Bob Dylan????). But they damn near do on this one. What is so amazing in Porcupine Tree's music is that it truly takes you on a journey, on an adventure. The careful attention to detail in the ambient soundscapes enhance and solidify the legitimacy of Wilson's exploration of mental disorder, topics of isolation, depression, and... well just count how many times he returns to address "pills". Quite a bittersweet and brutally realistic testimonial on life's effects on the human condition. I relate 100%.
So again, perhaps it is this complete identifiability in the subject matter that gives me the feeling of mild let-down musically. Lines such as "It's no fun to be told that you can't blame your parents anymore" beg for a rollercoaster of melody, a cacophony of crashing chords, something....
But rather, strictly musically speaking, there's a wanting. And maybe that's the point. But I've always held the Tree a bit higher musically, dare I say, than even Pink Floyd or Radiohead themselves. This album finds good company in such idioms, but doesn't quite truly transcend. It's an hour of similarly repetitive ideas that too often recall the monotonous drones a la U2, and not often enough does it break out. It's great zone-out music, but nothing Floyd hasn't taken to glorious heights some 30 years ago. A little more distinctiveness and identity to the songs as individuals would give the album more contrast and as a result, more impact. It's a body of work that gets deeper with each listen, but you have to want it.
Which I do.

Largely the conceit of co-writer/star John Cusack, "Grosse Point Blank" is oft compared to Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction," which brings to mind that old adage about apples and oranges. Cusack's film is, in its own right, the morally bleaker (and funnier) of the two--a shaggy dog tale about a neurotic young hitman returning home for his tenth high school reunion. The first in what appears to be a slew of films ready to cash in on '80s nostalgia (gen-Xers apparently having learned little from the Baby Boomers they sneer at), "Grosse Point"'s song score covers the decade like a shotgun blast, from the Violent Femmes bouncy "Blister" to Guns 'n' Roses overwrought "Live and Let Die". Minus points: the Clash is represented, but not Joe Strummer's incidental score. --Jerry McCulley

A walk down memory lane.......2005-09-30
If you loved the movie or loved 80's music, this is a must!
Great Soundtrack, Great CD.......2005-09-02
Someone did their homework! This disc (volume one of two) assembles a mix of music to rival the ever elusive Ferris Bueller soundtrack. Buy this CD, then explore the other work of the bands involved. Unfortunately some weak moments with Femmes versions, but strong enough elsewhere to pick up the slack and then some. A soundtrack really worth its salt. You won't go wrong with this one or with volume two.
One of my top ten CDs.......2005-08-27
Whoa! I do really enjoy listening to this soundtrack CD and I think I liked the Guns and Roses song better than our friend from Hawaii. When I hear "Live and let Die", I recall the scene when John's character pulls up to what he believes to be his Mother's house (the house he grew up in). When I first saw that scene, I just about fell off the couch laughing. A perfect song for that look on his face. I too could have done without the plunky sounding "Blister in the Sun" revision; it gets old to have to skip it. I'm also thinking of picking up Vol. 2 Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack; I'd wondered where the other tracks went to; LOL. Worth the money in my book; It'll probably be playing on my old system when they pry the remote out of my scriveled old hand years from now.
John Cusack Rocks the Kasbah.......2004-07-10
This soundtrack is a blast. Chock full of head-bobbing songs (well, maybe with the exception of Guns'n'Roses, but Axl has always been a downer, if you think about it), this vibrant CD will let you have fun again. Good job, John Cusack. I approve!

Another Great Two-Fer From A Great Texas Rock Band.......2007-03-02
AMERICAN EXCE$$/ON A ROLL is yet another great two-fer from Texas rock band Point Blank and its pro-law-enforcement leader, guitarist Rusty Burns. Bubba Keith has replaced John O'Daniel on vocals, giving the band a slightly more commercial sound and style, but this set is still great. Now if only AIRPLAY and THE HARD WAY would be properly reissued.
Like a Pop/Rock 2fer Blast from the Past!.......2007-01-21
Recently while traveling out of town I heard the song Nicole on the radio. How cool! I hadn't heard it in years and couldn't remember who it was by. It sorta stuck in my mind so I did the research and discovered Point Blank CD's on Amazon. I didn't really understand initially but this turns out to be two albums combined on one disc. I didn't remember until it arrived but "On A Roll" is an album I'd bought clear back in 1980 that had some great music on it too!
Southern Rock At It's Best!.......2006-02-19
I've had "Airplay" on vinyl for years and love it. I ran across this double cd and thought I'd check it out and WOW! This is a great two-on-one cd. I love every song here. Great guitars...great keyboards...great vocals! Point Blank is an extremely overlooked old rock band. Sadly, they just don't make em like this anymore. This is one of the best cd purchases I've made in recent months. Highly recommended!
Includes AOR hit "Nicole".......2004-12-14
TWO ALBUMS ON ONE CD.
***"American Exce$$" was Point Blank's big moment and included included a sizable AOR hit Nicole - you'll remember the very memorable driving rhythm. The album has great production for the era and another minor radio song, Let Me Stay With You Tonight. Extra points for awsome album art.
***"On a Roll" also featured two minor AOR radio tracks, Great White Line and the title track. Though, perhaps more memorable, is the introspective deep cut, Gone Hollywood - Just as American Exce$$ had awsome artwork, On A Roll has one of the wost covers of the 80s.
FYI - AOR stands for Album Oriented Rock, a very sucsessful FM radio format in the late 70s and early 80s. ...Post disco, pre Madona. Quite a lot of these stations evolved into Classic Rock stations as the format died in the late 80s and early 90s. Point Blank is one of the many bands that were sucsessful in the AOR era, but were excluded from most classic rock programing.

not to great.......2007-04-04
We were disappointed with this CD, but for the price I guess we can't expect much. I didn't care for the new style presentation of the songs. I like a more traditional rendering.
Not so bad, 100 tunes for 4$.......2005-06-22
I red the comments of two other people who have bought this 4 CD BOX SET and it is not really so bad. I will even add that there are some excellent tunes. However, I must agree with the fact that few tunes seem to have been recorded 40 or 50 years ago, mainly when you hear the scratches of an old turntable but it is just 2 or 3 tunes. Furthermore, if you do not know American music, it is a good BOX SET to buy if you consider that you received 4 CD for 4$ including 100 tunes. On these 4 CD, I have heard some orchestration that I have never heard before and I consider that they are different but interesting. Any way, after hearing these 100 tunes, you will say to yourself that you like this tune, this other tune, this other tune and so on and you will be able to buy a more expensive CD with the tunes that you like. However, I have bought many CDs in the last few weeks and as you know, there are always some tunes that you like and some tunes that you do not like on every CD that you will buy. So, don't buy it at 25$ but at 4 or 5$ dollars, it is a very good choice for 100 tunes.
You get what you pay for........2004-07-04
You get what you pay for. The singers put their own spin on the singing of each song. If you didn't hear the words you would not recognize some of them. Even some of the music sounds like a bad recording of music played on a turntable. Definitely not worth the price.
Now I know why there were no song samples to listen to ..........2004-07-04
I wish this review had been here when I was thinking of purchasing it. I guess you get what you pay for. If you are thinking of buying this, you are better off recording your own CDs (or at least buying one that you can listen to a sampling of the songs). This album includes songs that were mere recordings of the songs playing on an old record player. It's almost so unbelievable that it is funny.

If the title track didn't sum up an entire generation, it certainly captured the frazzled swagger of early punk rock. Launched from New York City's famous C.B.G.B. nightclub, the Voidoids released this debut in 1977, around the same time as Television's Marquee Moon. A rewrite of an old cornball Beat song, "Blank Generation" echoes the Sex Pistols's cries of "no future." "Love Comes in Spurts," the 1977 album's other classic, is a double-entendre both playful and menacing. The rest is the sound of Hell's nervous voice rubbing up against Robert Quine's equally nervous electric-guitar playing and an unyielding rhythm section. Steve Knopper

Punk at its best.......2006-07-03
I can't think of proper words to describe this album because of its magnitude. The sounds are so perfect I assume it speaks for itself. Minimalist at times, danceable at others -- this should be on your list of original punk "must haves."
Richard Hell & The Voidoids - 'Blank Generation' (Sire) 2 1/2.......2006-06-22
Originally released in 1977,as this was Richard Hell's first lp.Reason I'm giving this CD reissue a 2 1/2 star rating is because I personally know old school fans of New York punk that may get more out of it that I did.Tunes here that kept this disc in my player ALL the way through were "Love Comes In Spurts","Betrayal Takes Two",their John Fogerty cover "Walking On The Water" and the title cut "Blank Generation",Obviously, this disc didn't do much for me.Just might appeal to select fans of Television,Ramones,Dictators or Lou Reed.
BLESSED. One of my faves of ALL TIME........2006-04-11
This album sends chills down my spine. It's perfect for all occasions, Hell's lyricism is like an acid trip and Quine and Julian are such good guitarists it hurts. Having Marky Ramone in your band ain't bad, either. Once, I met Ivan Julian and professed my love for him before he covered Blank Generation, and I tell ya, my life's never been the same.
Poets and Punks unite!.......2005-11-30
Richard Hell really is a fabulous poet and even if his punkish off-beat singing annoys you, his lyrics alone are enough to make you listen. I personally love his unique execution; he has a style all to his own and even the music is well written. A must-have for anyone building up a real punk collection. Skip the Pistols and go straight to the original punk rockers! Pick up The Modern Lovers while you're at it!
Truly Creative Punk Rock.......2005-11-17
While the C.B.G.B's scene is often hyped for giving us artists like The great Ramones and Blondie, poor Richard Hell seemed to have been forgotten. Thankfully we can all discover him through this masterpeice Blank Generation. You've probably heard that the title track is the only noteworthy song but in my opinion that is far from the truth. While Blank Generation is a somewhat overlooked punk anthem, songs like Love Comes In Spurts and Liars Beware should deffinitley be held up as punk classics. Richard supplied a very unique sonding vocal track which is easily the best part of the album. The guitarist is entertaining too with his odd minimalistic solos that sound somewhat like an amuteur guitar player with a guitar that is slightly out of tune (which is probably what it is). Might I also note that the one and only Marky Ramone drums on this album but the drumming really isn't anything to noteworthy. All in all if you are looking for a punk album with a much different sound too it I would reccomend this album highly. Highlights: Love Comes In Spurts, Liars Beware, Down at the Rock and Roll Club, Blank Generation, and I'm Your Man.

A great CD from my original college days.......2006-01-14
This album made Ride a little more palatable for the casual listener, which should have really given them some sort of success because this is good record. The arrangements are all really simple, but still sound great with all of that distortion and layering washing over them. I saw them at the 930 club for the tour of this album and they were excellent. I had seen them previously for the Nowhere tour and they were with Lush. That show wasn't so good. Hmmmmm... Wish I could go dig the CD out of storage right now.

(three and a half stars) good overall, but no "Nowhere".......2005-10-13
It' simple really. If you, like me, are a huge fan of Ride's album "Nowhere," when you heard "Leave it all Behind," (the first song on Ride's third album, "Going Blank Again") you were pleased as punch that the band would continue their "Shoegazer" styled sound. When you heard the second song, "Twisterella," your reaction was "what the **** is this!" Of course, if you like "Twisterella," then you probably thought that the song was a refreshing departure from the band's past.
In my opinion, "Going Blank Again" has two songs which meet the extremely high standard set by its predecessor, namely the aforementioned "Leave it all Behind," and "Chrome Waves," which received some college radio play. "OX4" is very pretty, and kind of reminds me of the Flock of Seagulls' "Space Age Love Song." "Mousetrap," "Time After Time," and "Time Machine," are fine. The rest to me is just filler.
I suppose that the "Shoegazer" genre had a shelf life, and maybe the members of Ride felt like going more mainstream. Unfortunately, this made for some rather dull entries on "Going Blank Again." Still, this album is better than Ride's two subsequent (and last) albums, "Carnival of Light" and "Tarantula."
It's the singer, not the song..........2005-10-03
I was listening to this recently, trying to figure out why Ride never really made it big, and it became apparent pretty quickly-the vocals. Sometimes I wonder if these bands just draw names out of a hat to decide who will be the singer. The lyrics are gibberish and they are recited, more or less, in a flat sort of monotone voice. Oh, I understand, the vocals are supposed to be detached, ironic, distant-this is shoegazer neo-psychedelia. Whatever.
Too bad, because musically they stood apart from many of their ilk. Much more melodic, hooky, yet still noisy enough. A really strong singer with better lyrics could have put them over the top.
Surprising, because it's obvious that Ride has listened to The Who more than a few times. Did they notice that The Who had a charismatic front man who had a distinctive voice, singing interesting lyrics with a strong voice? Did they understand that this is the model for pop music?
Maybe the Brits can have a tv show like the one INXS had-find a singer for this band!
truly underrated Shoegazer Classic. Buy this CD........2005-09-12
I am always surprised how often Ride's masterpiece is overlooked or ranked below "Nowhere". Clearly "Nowhere" was a seminal CD and showed their promise, but it was on this CD, "Going Blank Again", that Mark Gardener showed VAST improvement on his vocals, and he and Andy Bell (now of Oasis) truly came into their own as songwriters. The quality of the production is superb, though perhaps not brilliant, and the band play their instruments with consummate skill and were clearly well-rehearsed before going into the studio.
With classics such as "Cool Your Boots", "Chrome Waves" and "Leave It All Behind" (among others), this CD would be worth buying for those tracks alone. But there's hardly a weak track on it! "Time Machine"'s intro is a bit over-long, as is the intro for the genuinely emotional and beautifully melodic "OX4", but otherwise this shoegazer classic is virtually without peer. (excepting of course such CDs as MBV's "Loveless", Lush's "Gala", and a few others).
Ride are one of the very best shoegazer bands to ever put their sounds to record, and this is without a doubt their very best effort (kind of went downhill after this one I'm afraid). The wall of sound, haunting vocal lines blended with layers of chorus and verb and feedback and...well...it's all there. Just listen to it. You'll thank yourself.

I love the movie, had to pick up the soundtrack sometime naturally...
I approve!

A piece of Trance history..........2007-06-05
It doesn't matter if you know Blank & Jones or not.
I myself was under the impression of not knowing anything of Blank & Jones only to realize, after listening to this compilation , that a good deal of music I've heard in the past was in fact by Blank & Jones !
Not only does this album provide a good come back on Blank & Jones's best , but it clearly shows how Trance became more sophisticated & warm over the years, making this album a piece of Trance history.
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that an interview with the band & artists collaborators would have make a great addition to an already excellent cd/dvd content. I really recommend reading the liner notes , they are pretty much interesting as the guys give their personnal views on each of the tracks.
One last thing, you may observe that all the tracks are "radio edits" or "short cuts" of their original counterpart. Real "clubbers" may found this a desapointment. But as far as I'm concern, cutting the "club friendly" intro's & outro's of each track was an excellent idea to provide even more tracks. Finally , this combo cd/dvd is a great value for money.
A good purchase for new Blank & Jones fans..........2006-09-05
This 2 disc set encompasses all of the major hits of the German trance duo known as Blank & Jones. For existing fans who've bought other Blank & Jones albums, I suggest you not buy this compilation, unless you're wanting the set for the DVD complete with every music video to date.
For new Blank & Jones fans, this compilation should be a nice taste of the work of Blank & Jones through the years. Although some may be put off by the fact that the majority of the tracks are radio edits or short cuts, it reinforces the "Singles" nature of the compilation.
In short, if you're already a fan of Blank & Jones, there's nothing too new about this; otherwise, this would be a good starter for new Blank & Jones, or casual trance fans in general.
Alright, but nothing extreme........2006-08-25
The tracks with Elles are hot, Catch, and Mind of the Wonderful, but other than that, this cd is just so-so. You may be better off just getting the Mind of the Wonderful single which is only $1.99 but that will leave you wanting more. This isn't a typical trance album in the sense that the tracks don't flow into one form. You really have to give this album a chance, so it's not spectacular. If you are willing so, then buy it, other than that, there is better trance out there.
ehhh.......2006-08-16
looks like another one for the paul oakenfold- bunkka bin. i guess if you liked that youll like this! like has been said, yeah, its cheesy, and yeah, the songs are too short. not designed for the true trance enthusiest.
All the best.......2006-08-09
If you are buying your first blank and jones CD, then this is the one to get. I personally prefer blank & jones later hits over their earlier ones (especially Mind of the Wonderful), but this CD has got them all. I saw many of these songs performed live when they visited California a few months ago. Great stuff!

Just Found It!.......2006-12-25
Wow! Just found this band and I am pretty happy.
I read an article from "Michael Smith" comparing this to "Nickleback", so I was not expecting much. Obviously "Michael Smith" Is incorrect.
Straight forward rock is back, and this is a solid CD with powerful music and personal lyrics. Nickleback sings about banging chicks and sells records in millions as many bands have before them.
This is a good band, so pick it up and forget about the ridiculous comparisons. Or don't because you think it sucks.
Just stop listening to people like "Michael Smith" and like music or don't.
Not what I expected.......2006-06-26
Honestly, When I bought the "Freddy Vs. Jason" soundtrack and heard "Middle of Nowhere", I expected great things. I Expected a much darker album than what i heard. Addicted was the only other noteworthy song on the CD. Maybe I am Wrong, but you are doing better to pick up "City of Evil" by AX7 if you want some entertainment that will take you through more than 10 tracks.
Worst Cover band EVER. . . . . . . .......2006-04-11
Wow, I bought this album based on "sour times" by Portishead. I thought metal was dying, but this really puts the headstone on it. Call yourself "blank theory" wow. call yourselves "blank" and be done with it.
Still a great album, even after two years! .......2005-05-28
I got this album two or three years ago now and its still more than enjoyable and hasn't become stale. This is quite a good album, with diverse sounds and textures to the music. If your looking for something new to listen to, you can't go wrong with this album. If you already own it, consider one for a friend!
Great CD for the price.......2004-12-07
The Blank Theory has a sound that cannot be compared to Nu-metal or mall-core, people that say that are wrong. Beyond the Calm of the Corridor earns 5 stars easily. They have the 3rd best sound I can remember listening to besides Spineshank and In Flames. It has Harmony in all the right places and blends aggresion into every song to create a sound that cannot be matched. They deffinatley found their own style in the growing metal scene. I highly recemend buying this CD to any Metal fan that does not mind some melody in what they listen to.
