    Album Description

    Full - At First Sight Violets Are Blue. Reissue of classic 1987 album from the legendary Perth power-pop group. Originally issued through Mushroom Records' White Label on vinyl, the album only saw limited CD release at that time. In the early 90s Rolling Stone Magazine included it in the top 100 Australian releases of all time. The reissue includes a bonus disc with 15 B-sides & live recordings (many of which are available on CD for the first time), 'Sad Girl' (Single Version), 'Grooviest Girl In Town', 'My Beach', 'Can't Forget That Girl' (original demo previously unreleased) & 10 live recordings from the Old Melbourne Hotel, 4/18/1986 - 'Rosebud', 'Make You Mine', 'She's A Monster', 'Love Will Grow', 'The Otherside', 'The Otherside', 'Does It Turn You On', 'All You Want For Me', & 'Stepping Stone'.     3 out of 5 stars The WHITE album isnt exactly the RIGHT album........2007-01-26

    After reading the other review and hearing several of E-White's appearances on Snoop's album and mixtapes I decided to give this a go. I wouldnt say I was disappointed but I wasnt really impressed with it either. The problem is that he doesnt bring anything new to the table that we havent heard from other gangsta rappers from the G-Funk era. The production is aiight but nothing special and lyrically he sounds like a poorer version of Snoop. The thing that makes him stand out however is his voice sounds cool and his delivery is on point on every track. I understand this album was recorded in 48hrs like the title states, before he went into prison, so that probably explains the slightly rushed feel to alot of songs. So maybe his proper album will be better produced. After all that being said there are afew brilliant tracks such as "Put Yo Handz Up", "In the Middle of the Night" feat.Kam+MNMSTA, "My Time to Shine" (my favourite), "Nuthin' But Luv" and "U Don't Want None". Let me reitirate this isnt bad album its just not great either through lack of originality. But maybe that was the point...to just keep it gangsta.

    This whole cd is amazing. E-white is pretty impressive on this
    album. I think hes shines best on "Life in the BIg City" a great
    track. There's some nice G-Funk beats on this album like "Ghetto
    Luv". And the Twinz appear on "All in the Family", I've been waiting for them to hit us with something new. The production on
    that track is just sick. Check this cd out if you like westcoast music, This album's one of my favorites released this year.

        5 out of 5 stars GREAT BUDGET COLLECTION OF RCA COUNTRY QUEENS .......2005-06-29

        This is an excellent collection of twelve vintage tracks from some of the leading female country singers on the RCA label. From the 1960's there's Skeeter Davis (RCA's first major country female star) and Liz Anderson each singing top 5 hits that earned the ladies Grammy nominations for Best Female Country Vocal in 1967, Connie Smith is represented with her smash 1964 #1 "Once a Day" which I believe is still the most successful single by a female vocalist on the Billboard country chart; Dolly Parton alone represents the 1970's with the original version of "I Will Always Love You", while the 1980's dominates this disc with K.T. Oslin, Sylvia, Juice Newton, Gail Davies, Louise Mandrell, and Deborah Allen, from the 1990's Lorrie Morgan and Lari White are featured. These are the original hits and they sound great on CD. Sadly excluded on this collection of RCA country divas though are the outstanding 60's hitmaker Norma Jean and where on earth is Dottie West, a top RCA star from 1963-1975?? This is the SECOND collection of RCA vintage country tracks that has excluded her that I've reviewed in the last two days!! Somebody needs to pay attention at Direct Source!!!

        Nevertheless, this is a great set although a few song selections are curious, like one of Lorrie Morgan's least successful records for RCA and I'm surprised Gail Davies made the cut here since her stint at RCA was not particularly long or commercially successful although she recorded some fine music there (it's a crime though her "Jagged Edge of a Broken Heart" was not the song used for this selection, not only was it her biggest RCA hit but it was one of the most underrated records of the era.) I am thrilled though to see the outrageously underappreciated Liz Anderson (a songwriter to rival Dolly and a great singer too) and Lari White (one of the best female singers of the 90's) are here and this is a outstanding collection of music well worth the budget price and then some.
