From URB Magazine
While the jungle sound has fought tooth and nail to stay relevant into the 21st century (especially here in America), DJ trailblazers like Chicago bad boys Danny the Wildchild and Phantom 45 have kept the home fires burning in the city of big shoulders. Drum & bass has never taken a back seat in Chicago, and this pair has a lot to do with that. From perpetually packed club nights to infiltration onto the commercial radio airwaves, they've seen to it that subsonic bass lines and double-time rhythms are always in the mix. On these two outstanding releases, the two flex their considerable DJ muscle, showcasing a gritty, street style and crowd-hyping histrionics. For Danny the Wildchild, the flash comes in the form of his lightning-fast scratch madness, cutting up tracks from Mampi Swift, Influx Datum and his own productions like DJ Craze on a case of Red Bull. Phantom 45 is more of a traditional selector, dropping prime productions ranging from the evil tech-step of Bad Company to the euphoric and emotional instant classic that is High Contrast's "Return of Forever." While he's not slicing and dicing like his bud Danny, his keen ear for killer cuts and pulse-increasing flow keep it crunk.

Why would a DJ mixed cd be tracked out?.......2003-04-03
The track selection on this album is great, but why would you ever track out a DJ mix cd like a pop record? You're ready for the transition to hit and the speakers go dead for 2 seconds before the mix picks back up (often horribly) - are you joking!?
No disrespect, Phantom 45 is one of my all-time favorite DJs (arguably one of the best Junglists EVER), but the production of this album ruins it.

If there is only few drum and bass mixes you should pick up out of the thousands that were made, I would put Phantom 45's mix in the top 10 for sure. The front of the package of this CD reads: --- "showcases a funky new school vs old school Drum 'n' Bass ~ an infectious showing from a true pioneer in the U.S. Drum 'n' Bass scene" --- and I couldn't agree with its author more. Phantom 45 is one of the less recognized jungle DJs in the United States scene often times and his mixes alone can set the record straight for people that doubt his masterful craftsmanship of drum and bass from present and from the past. This is a great album to listen to for a true junglist or someone that is just starting to discover jungle music. If you like this CD, you should also check out Danny the Wildchild's mix of the same name (different mix though)... Peace

LAME!!!!! ARRRGAH!!!!.......2006-09-27
The first track is cool...the scratching is affective though it's the last you'll hear of it...I like the zinc song & thats about it...this is very lame would-be soulful dnb...stuff like mampi swift's rebirth is music that cannot be listened to outside of a drum & bass club & even still you'd have to be drunk to get into it. Moments like 'grand theft auto' would be heavy moments of truth in a club but at home you wont even notice them...if you want some drum & bass cd's your going to have to buy the ones that are actually musical & geared towards the home audience...that tech-steppy buisness wont work in your headphones..
Alright, but 45 can do better.......2005-05-17
Ive seen this guy rock some mean live shows, however this album onlys good with few tracks. Opening up with Bad Company and Ram Trilogy sets the mood for some hard hitting tracks, but after that, 45 goes to some older jungle tracks.
THIS STUFF IS OFF THA HOOK!!!.......2002-11-01
Danny the Wildchild once again drives home his mix of drum & bass and turntablism. If you like drum & bass even in the remotest amount, this is by far THE BEST album to date to make you fall in love with junglism. Danny takes his mix from one continent/label to the next of some of the finest drum & bass in the world. His skills cannot be matched by many, and his live performance will slam the dancefloors round the world anyday. If you like Danny the Wildchild, also check out some of his other mixes and you will not be disappointed.
