Product Description
DJ Heather, a Chicago house pioneer, is quickly becoming one of America's most in-demand DJs. Heather has demonstrated her sharp ability to take hold of the dancefloor - from San Francisco to Ibiza, she is a favorite of clubbers worldwide. Heather made an early name for herself as the opening DJ on Mark Farina's San Francisco Sessions' World Tour and is well recognized as a founding member of the now infamous Super Jane Collective along with DJ Colette and Lady D.

Heather also earned the title Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2002 Dancestar USA Awards in Miami and she is considered one of the hardest working DJs in the industry. Playing over 100 dates per year in all the top clubs from North America to Europe, Heather is known for producing simply legendary sets. Dancefloor Principles is the definitive DJ set from a nightclub that defines West Coast clubbing culture, Sonar. This mix exemplifies Heather's 10 years of experience, proving that she has grown to become one of Chicago's most-skilled exports of quality funky house.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars nice!.......2003-10-19

This is a wonderful mix album. The mixing and track selection are impeccable. Voted best dj at the 2002wmc, not to shabby. If you enjoy house straight from the decks you'll love this.
Shake it baby!

4 out of 5 stars Heather is on point with the track selections.......2003-10-09

True to form, Heather once again captures the house sound. Her variations of tech and funky house is complete on this set. Being a deejay myself, i did not find the blending too smooth. Although, this cd does have an excellent track selection for the house junkie. It will keep you dancing all night.

4 out of 5 stars Very good follow-up album.......2003-09-28

DJ Heather's previous CD, "Tangerine," really set the standard for how a mix CD should be made. "Dancefloor Principles" is no different. The song choices are diverse, but still enjoyable. The tempo seems to be fairly consistent. While "Tangerine" went from slow to fast to slow, "Dancefloor Principles" starts out fast and stays fast, with little variation. If you have a hard time dancing to any part of this CD, you need to check yourself for a pulse. DJ Heather is one of the best house DJ's out there; hear the difference for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars DJ Heather - Take Two.........2003-09-12

DJ Heather's "Tangerine" was a turntable tour-de-force, combined superb cut selection (completely cheese-free) with a buttery smooth mix transitions. It took me a couple weeks to finally get to the last few tracks on the disc, I was so busy replaying the first six or eight. It was part of my everyday-play for almost a year, and even now remains a fresh and stimulating listen. While not necessarily breaking any new ground with "Dancefloor Principles", DJ Heather has equalled her earlier work. Her ease of musical flow - almost organic - is peerless. Pick up both and start the party.. Thank you, DJ Heather!

5 out of 5 stars A Stunningly Potent Mix of Underground House........2003-09-08

As with any other male dominated pastime, DJ-ing is a field that gets little representation from women. But if DJ Heather continues to make mix CDs as brilliant as this, then that may soon change. A native from the windy city called Chicago, Heather is a force to be reckoned with: her style of gritty beat-heavy house has made her one of the most sough-after DJs. Her latest release under the "Dancefloor Principles" series is a seamless blend of tight grooves and soulful touches that doesn't falter during any of its 66 minutes. The groove starts kickin' with the seductive "All I Need" by Norman Page, leading up to other highlights such as the bass-heavy "Waiting" by Demarkus Lewis, the underground excursion "Sambando" by Mustafa, and "Wrong" by Mazi and Spettro. The tracks (not a dud in the bunch) blend into each other perfectly, and the groove stays amazingly consistent. While other DJs get by on merely hype, DJ Heather gives you the Real McCoy. No lover of house will want to miss this.
