GREAT CD.......2004-01-17

Just a couple of years ago I started getting into dancehall and started shopping around for anything I could get my hands on. Picked up this cd at a local record store and it was SICK. There are some really great riddims on this mix cd and Jazzy T really handles biz on the turntables. Great cd to throw on at the party and let it play. Favorite tracks are Bopp,Bopp with Mr. Vegas and probably the hardest track on the whole mix is Proceed with Bounty Killer, which is too HARD. One of the hardest dancehall beats I've ever heard. Lexxus also does his thing. Great cd to introduce you to dancehall, it'll have you dancing in the whip.

bashment need i say more.......2002-02-01

The bashment rythm is one of the best in ragga dancehall scenes. The way Spragga rips it on "We Nuh Like",and Wayne Wonder's smooth ryhmin' on "Searchin Dem Searchin" will make you wanna get up and move. If you ain't really big on dancehall you might not like the showtime rythm. To tell you the truth I'm only feelin' Mr.Easy's "Ah Who" and Baby Cham's "Hottie Hottie Crew". On the other I truly and mos def suggest this cd.

Wayne Wonder puts together an awesome collection of Reggae tracks. All the tracks come alive with Wayne Wonder's wonderful lyrics. My special 'cigars' helped but each track was a story you can follow in your head. Every track stood out but it was nice to listen to Wayne Wonders version of Michael 'Jacko' Jackson's 'Somebody's Watching Me.' Every WW fan will enjoy this cd.

The only thing is, the cd is an export. Not sold in the States...but it should be!!

Dancehall Bashment Mix.......2000-10-19

Many times I buy a Reggae CD (I am from Jamaica) I do not get the latest music. But lo and behold, Jamdown Records has produced a Reggae compilation mixed by Renaissance Disco, that has the latest riddims and artistes. Over 20 tracks are featured as a continuous mix, with many popular riddims. Though this is a contiuous mix, all tracks can be individually selected.

Unlike many other recent Reggae compilation albums, this album has many riddims.

I know that I am rather old school when it comes to dancehall, so I needed to listen to this lp a few times to get a better feel for what today's new stars are doing with the old style.

Oddly enough, there isn't too much difference between King Tubby's style of dancehall and what, say, Beenie Man or Gabrielle, two of today's brightest lights, are doing. No, the hard core dub isn't necessarly there, but the flavors and spirit are similar.

Featuring Capleton, Red Hat, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Gabrielle, and a slew of up and comers, this cd has delicious, phat dancehall grooves that compliment any old school dancehall cds. While they are new, the grooves and feel are very familiar. Nice collection.
