this is probobly my favorite ministry of sound cd ever. it has a solid begining and keeps it up throughout both cds. i dont know if everyone would like this type of stuff bu sreioulsy its awsome.

Tight Trance.......2004-07-21

I first heard it as mp3 I downloaded off the web and liked it so much went out and ordered it here on amazon and I am awaiting my copy. I consider myself a trance fan who doesn't like hard stuff. But I still want something with a nice beat to it. This trance is perfect. I would also recommend Ibiza Euphoria by matt darey, also his 'pure' euphoria vol4. I am also impressed with Gatecrasher black, red, and wet. I am also trying to buy those for a reasonable price though. I also like trance nation 4 by ferry corsten. I ordered the other trance nations done by him so I will see how they stack up to four but based from reviews they should be just as good. Now the euphoria line has many offerings. I liked the ibiza euphoria by matt and got then vol 2 and 3 by agnelli nelson and dave pearce and they are good but not as great as the first one by matt. Then there are the just euphoria albums which matt did number 4 for. I ordered the first three by pf project and red jerry again based on reviews so we'll see how they stack up. This is where I stand so far. I am leaning to albums from 98 to 2000 since that is when trance seemed to be at one of its peaks.
So again you cant go wrong with the first three gatecrashers, first ibiza euphoria by matt, this atb clubbers guide ( I dont like any of the others done by jules they were too techno housey ), and euphoria vol4 again by matt. I think these cds will give you a pretty tight range of some great trance songs.

Clubber's Guide to Trance - MOS's best and a trance classic!.......2004-06-26

I have to say this is the best Ministry of Sound compilation I've ever heard. It's expertly mixed by atb, and is a veritable who's who of one of the best year's of trance, 1999-2000. You get Chicane, ATB's 9PM, Gouryella, Lost Witness, DJ Sakin, Fragma, Sasha, System F, and Blank & Jones. Play this one all the way through, on both discs, and you won't be disappointed. No stale spots at all, and that's tough to do on a 2 disc set of any kind. This is one of the best of trance ever. Also check out the first (and best) Trance Mix USA, also mixed by ATB, which is also a sort of best of trance of the time including the classic Everytime by Lustral, which Acosta also recently put on his History of Trance set. It's another classic compilation of the genre.

ATB is one of my favorite DJs and this album was well mixed! There are numerous of awesome tracks on this album! I listen to this CD over and over again and I'm still in love with it!! Highly recommended to purchase this album!!

Trance fans will like this..........2002-04-11

It's a good CD, no joke. This Trance CD and the Hard Energy are my two favorite MoS compilations. Go get those two, they are very very good.

Cd2 very good though with tracks like runnin,ppk,gotta though there real classics.Also a loved that song belivers,lalala land and most the others very good trance and house songs not bad.
Cd1 was noway as good not great mix of will i and catch and be cool is a cool song but its was not good on this mix.
Ministry Spring annual 2002 so much better.

Clubber's Guide to 2002. From the title, I thought it would have the biggest tracks of 2002. Yeah it does have some big track but very very few. And once again they had to include Ian Van Dahl's overplayed "Will I" and Daniel Bedingfield's annoying "Gotta Get thru This" track. It's an okay compilation for beginning Ministry of Sound listeners but the big problem is that the most time you will probably listen to it or crave to listen to it is just one or two times. And for the import price, it is just way too much to pay for this big load of fecies. If you have a local Hastings Music Store then just buy this there since it is only 8.99 compared to 30.99 bucks.

ADDIICTIVE!!!!.......2002-03-19

I have bough this cd about 3 months ago and cant get enough of it!!! Honestly, I havent listened to the trance cd which is cd 1 a lot, but cd2 whihc is house is SIMPLY AMAZING!! i carry it with me wherever i go, I listen to it in my car, in my place, and i even take it to vacations:)

If you want a party cd, this is the ONE! do not miss it! you wont regret.

It Kills.......2002-02-08

Though I am normally suspicious of compilations, anthems and such, you will not miss with Clubber's Guide 2002. At first I thought it was good, but nothing innovative...

But then, let me put it this way; I was listening to the first disc at the gym a few days ago, and CG2002 was so good that I almost CRIED...

Downhill for Ministry?.......2002-02-08

This compilation was incredibly generic and hugely lacking in originality and innovation. The beat washes forward like an ocean shorline bringing nothing of interest in with the tide. There are more lyrics on this offering than previous Ministry productions (such as Trance Nation 1-4 - excellent CD's). This CD also seemed to lack ambition, new direction and momentum. The songs, a distinct "3-years-ago" feel to some of them, progressed slowly without anything really happening to produce waves of exhiliration. This is a weak CD that I would not recommend to people who usually like Ministry's stuff.

Call Me Insane, but I Wasn't Feelin' This.......2002-07-27

My taste in dance music is as diverse as anyone else's. I really dig soulful house, trance, two-step, and drum and bass. MoS has been one of the few labels that has consistently steered me in the right direction in terms of good dance music, but their winning streak ends here. I really liked the 2002 Ibiza guide, but this mix by Judge Jules didn't do it for me. We get nondescript, hyperactive trance numbers that start off promisingly but don't take off well. It would have been nice if we got more vocals and more variety, but I guess that doesn't really matter if this is blasting while you're at the club severely intoxicated. I'm actually VERY glad I got this used because if I paid the full import price, I would not have been a happy camper. While I'm sure this will appeal to some, this guide to Ibiza was a disappointment.

Yeah! Its actually good!.......2001-06-12

Ministry of Sound has to pick up a lot of slack from many people worldwide for their cookie-cutter mixes and lack of depth in any of the mixes they create. A glossy slipcase and exceptional packaging can't help you ignore the fact that only big records are taken and nothing more.

Believe it or not, this mix is quite out of MOS's usual standards. It is extremely dancible and not all the songs are club stormers as I haven't heard them before. The first disc features some awesome house tunes while the second one is pure trance frenzy. Dumonde's Sandstorm is on the 2nd disc, and this disc was released well before that's song's popularity in North America right after the summer. Its Jules was predicting a future hit single. Other notables inlude, "Pumpin", "Song to the Siren", "Groovejet" and man..plenty more. But these songs are the first ones to come in mind...but its all been mixed in Jules frenzied pacing that refuses to let up. I don't think I recall one moment of rest. This is really a great mix..but i think its overshadowed by the Trance Nation sequels(the first one was good though) and all the annual mixes! They really need to make better mixes like this in the future

Amazes me everytime.........2001-03-06

This compliation, mixed by Dj Judge Jules, is really amazing. The first time I heard it I was completely moved, and it does that to me each time I listen to it.. its got a great variety of trance, techno, and just phat beats the whole way through! Of course we know these artists are all amazing anyways, so having them put together all on one CD, makes it an even more pleasurable listening experience. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys any type of trance. We are a [trance nation]! hehehe. =p

A must for hard house fans.......2001-02-17

Well I got this CD for Christmas and I am extremely pleased with it. I think CD 1 which is more hard house than trance is the better - mainly for Florian F's Surreal Brazil which is a masterpiece - But still I like the harder feel of this disc. Number 2 is definitely lighter and trancier but gets a bit harder towards the end although it is spoiled at the start by using too many tracks with vocals(I think a definite no-no in trance), but even so there are some gems like Moogwai's Viola. So overall if you like stompier hard house tunes, buy it and listen to CD 1. CD 2 has too many cheesy vocals for me, so if you want good trance, wait for the soon-to-be-released Binary Finary album instead.

Awesome CD- Classic Judge Jules.......2001-01-18

First off I want to say that I'm giving this cd a 4 and a half star rating, but they don't have the option so I might as well say it here. This cd simply rocks! Being an avvid clubber myself at Twilo (NYC) and at some British clubs when I'm traveling, I look for the uplifting trancey sound that The Judge puts out. I bought this when I travelled to Italy over the summer and I fell in love with it. The track selection has some of the best songs of the summer with great mixing (some mixes were a bit off, hence the 4 and a half rating, but they're minor). Being a DJ myself, I strongly suggests buying this compilation, it's well worth it!

The Judge: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?.......2002-03-20

The Judge shows 2 sides to his persona on this one, and personally I like the wilder, hard house style of disc one. The mixes are on par for Jules which is a good thing if your not familiar with him but the real fun begins in the second half of the first CD. It really gets going when he drops Dave Aude's Push That Thing. From there to the finish, you're in house heaven because the songs are great and Jules' performance makes the experience that (!) much better. But only 4 stars because it's more of a 'hits' collection than a true no holds barred performance for Judge Jules. And I'm not the trance type so I hate the second CD. Paid for 2 CDs: got 1 great one and one coaster for my drink.

This Is Jules at his VERY best. But I am not a house fan so I almost want to break the first Cd and set the second CD on my mantle above the fireplace. Jules mixesd the most intense CD Ive heard since Trance Nation in disk 2. I would have to rank Disk two in the top 3 of my 50 Ministry of Sound CDs. That is a hard thing to Do. But I will recommend this CD to everyone and let them know you won't be dissapionted. If you are looking for more Trance: try the Trance Nation Series 1-4 or the Clubber's Guide Series.

Another Jules Masterpiece.......2000-08-10

I am a big fan of the Judge and the Clubbers guide series. I used to listen to his Friday night show when I lived in England and that was awsome. Now I live in the States I do not have that privalidge. So I collect the Clubbers guide series. This double album is sweet. CD 1 is more of a hardhouse banging type mix with tracks 3,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,16 and 20 being my favourites. CD 2 is a more trance ambient kind of sound which I personally prefer. Pretty much the whole of CD 2 is living large and I like virtually all the tracks on that CD. Basically the whole of the album is fantastic and I am looking forward to the new Ibiza Annual 2000 mixed by Tall Paul and The Judge which is due for a release very soon. Thankyou to all responible for this latest Clubbers Guide Album.

Not much for Clubber's Guide to...2000. Overall, it doesn't have the identity other MOS titles possess. Comparing this to the Millenium Annual or to Clubber's Guide to Ibiza 99 is not appropriate. Both disks are somewhat lifeless with the exception of a few good mixes. The overall beat is ok. Recommended for background party music.

this is my first Judge Jules cd compilation i've ever bought, and basically i like this compilation a bunch. The second cd is full of great trance tunes. Five stars is pushing it, but its a nice set to have regardless.

As the title says, cannot complain about CD1. The original melodic/trance sounds of CD1 contrast sharply with the overly funky, commercial, irritating sounds of CD2. Would not recommend, but would find suggest another compilation with similar content as CD1.

I have to addmit, when It comes to Trance,Dance,Chillouts,and Electronic in general, MOS It the best. I been buying every cd that Ministry of Sound has come out with so far and I never been disapointed with any of them, Ministry really put in the best DJ's with the best and latest music. Clubber's Guide to Ibiza realy puts it together, CD1 is basicly trance and It it includes this year best ibiza Track with is "shooting Star", CD2 is mainstream Dance, my favorite track on that cd is Starchaser - Love Will Set You Free (Jambe Myth) it reminds me a lot of my recent trip to Ibiza. If what your looking for is the best on electronic MOS is the best.

Buy it as I recommend it and am spinning most of the songs on this compilations at my gigs... in New Engaland and accross the US!!

Ladies and gentlemen, summer is here, and the folks at MoS have kicked off the season with their "Clubber's Guide to Ibiza 2002!" The 2000 Ibiza guide wasn't my cup of tea, but this one represents a big improvement. The first disc serves up some really energetic trance grooves that vary in flavor and texture. Most of them feature vocals and the majority are international club hits. The second disc is made of hyperactive, housed-up numbers. The opener gets the mood right with Missy Elliot's "For My People" remixed by Basement Jaxx. Before you cringe, be rest assured that this remix actually works and will have you on the dancefloor in seconds. The rest of the disc serves up a good mix of Euro neo-disco/house that remains consistent and keeps the listener engaged. While this isn't the best dance compilation I've heard, it's still a good mix double CD that reaffirms MoS's status as one of the leading labels in dance music.

Ministry does it again..........2002-07-08

If your looking for a CD that rocks you from the time you put in it the cd player till the time you take it out this is the one. Ministry of Sound is by far better than any thing you will ever find in the US.It is worth the extra couple bucks for the import.Nebuchan (O.R.G.A.N. Remix) is awesome and flows great into the next track which is Dj's Fans & Freaks (Cosmic Gate Remix). I disagree with the last review about the Missy Elliot remix it is [Junk]. But Basement Jaxx is great and always comes through with soild tracks alittle disappointing though.Disc One is the better of the 2 with some future summer hits. Kosheen's Hungry and Forever will getting the body rocking. Disc 2 is good with I think the timo mass remix is better than the moby original. Moby is two mainstream for me anyway. Track 12 Gimme Me Money has some killer beats.All in all this is a must buy. If you like good hard house and progressive trance this is the CD for the summer!!!

Damn... I really need to read all the reviews. I ordered thiscd assuming that since it got a 4 star rating, it must be pretty good,right? Well I'm not saying it's horrible but it's not what I like. Ilike to hear some good, hard, thumping trance. The stuff I like isonly present for the last three tracks of the first CD and most of thesecond half of the second CD. This album isn't lame, dance musicthough.It's structured with funk in mind so I can kinda groove toit. Somewhat. Hey, it's better than fruity dance tracks but, my nomeans, is it my favorite stuff. Why can't I find some good trance?This CD is kinda fun, I guess assuming that you are very hyper anddriving about 90 mph down the freeway with the top down on yourconvertable. However, if you are like me and you don't own aconvertable & you don't get out much (shup up!) this CD is prettyboring. This and the MoS clubers guide to Ibiza 2000 make me NOT wantto go to Ibiza. Send me some trance, for the love of all that issacred!

Judge Jules does it again!.......2000-06-25

Once again, the Ministry of Sound comes through and exceeds the high expectations of their fans. The Judge and Tong pull out all the stops and really knock ya dead with their phat mixin' skillz. Of course, not all the songs are my personal faves, but since when has that stopped a true P.L.U.R. kid from enjoyin' the music? Never! I say go for it, and have fun!

Judge Jules has long been one of the most widely respected and widely appreciated DJ's throughout the clubbing ranks. His love and the knowledge of the music is surpassed only by his brilliant mixing ability. This CD sweetly compliments this statement, delivering a diverse selection of hand picked tunes spanning all aspects of the Ibiza club scene.

CD 1 attempts to capture the Mediterranean flavour of coastal Ibiza bringing together slamming house tunes such as SouthSide Spinners "Luvstruck", Underworlds 'Jumbo', and the classic "What you Need" from Powerhouse.

CD 2 focuses more on the trance elements combining several Lange Mix's with trance anthems such as Lovechild's "Liberta", and Matt Derry's reworking of Blockster's "Grooveline". All the tracks are seeminglessly mixed by the captian of the turntables Judge Jules.

Although this CD is over a year old, and the majority of tracks have saturated the airwaves, it is still a must for any true hardcore Ibiza clubber. Good But Not Great.......2001-10-05

Not as good as the 2000 compilation. CD 1 is light, disco-like house tracks with a similar feeling throught the entire cd. Personally, I did not enjoy it much. CD 2 is more like it, good energetic tracks connected by excelent mix work. Finally, I recommend this compilation but have to say that the MOS could do much better (for example Clubber's guide to Ibiza 2000).

Good house set, pure cheese clog trance mix.......2001-09-03

Ah, to heck with credibility, some times you just want a heaping plastic chunk of McTunes, and that's precisely what British corporate club culture does best. The Ibiza Annual, Cream Ibiza, Club Mix Ibiza 2001, MTV Ibiza, Renaissance Ibiza, Best Ibiza Anthems Ever 2001, and (finally) Clubber's Guide to Ibiza are all available for summer round-up of the peak dance season.

Truth be told, 90% of the tracks on all of these are from the same assembly line; the difference lies in slight customer preferences for speed and pop-factor amongst the housey-trancey lot. So what's included? Lightweight disco fluff "Another Chance" by Roger Sanchez owes royalties to Daft Punk, Kings of Tomorrow "Finally" arrives in the original (best) mix, kicking off the top block of disc one: familiar dance cookie "Drifting" by Mojolators and smooth downtempo curves Raven Maize "The Real Life" and Full Intention "I'll Be Waiting". Lurking near the end are Smokin Jo's rated "Yan U" and Brother Brown's "Star Catching Girl" albeit in an lesser incarnation. Points off from an otherwise respectable hour for cheese clog "3-2-1 Fire" by Santos.

As for the "Night Life" mix. Hmm. The worst trance set I've heard in a long, long time. Tall Paul vs INXS's "Precious Heart" is an embarrassment to the mere word, and inexplicably pitches up the vocal of Michael Hutchence. Cosmic Gate's "Fire Wire" probably rates as the worst single of the year. Pure pap on plastic, keep it in the case or irrevocably waste precious minutes of your life.

So, a mixed bag as expected. One disc for groovin' on the beach, one for flinging into the ocean. But if you're curious about the latest trends in disposable dance culture, it does meet the requirements. 2.5 stars

Simply Amazing............2001-08-15

If you are looking for one compilation that sums up what it means to be in a "Soul Heaven", then buy this cd-set. CD-1 contains every house hit of the summer from Roger Sanchez's mega hit "Another Chance", to club anthem "Happy People".

Disc 2- is more of the same- all of the summer's major dance hits- but trance. Not to miss tracks...Raven's "Maize", Tall Pauls remix of INXS's, "Never Tear Us Apart", BT's "Never Gonna Come Back Down", and Riva's "Stranger".

This is literally one of the best IBIZA comps out there...

Jammalamania!! MOS is a way of life.......2001-08-07

This CD is one of the best mixes of the year, covering both the front end of house for the early risers (with tunes such as Another Chance -- Roger Sanchez, and 3-2-1 Fire! -- Santos), and and the back end slamming trance (DAS Glockenspiel -- Schiller, Stringer -- Riva, 10 in 01 -- MOM). Ministry of SOund is becoming a way of life, and this CD is no exception. Whether you're an Ibiza lover OR a GRAT MUSIC lover, this is a CD that needs to be in your collection. I know I am spinning a slew of these songs at Sissy K's and at Club Ozone!!

Clubber's Guide To a... Good Season.......2001-06-17

The guys from Ministry of Sound are back with a fifth installment in the Clubber's Guide To... Ibiza series. Although, the infamous Judge Jules is not back to mix and strut his stuff on this album, nonetheless, it bangs hard enough anyway. Mixed by little known Steve Canueto, CD 1 entitled 'Beach Life' captures the daily spirit of such Ibiza beaches as the ever-popular Playa den Bossa or Las Salinas, with good ol' house flava. Tracks like Roger Sanchez' "Another Chance, Raven Maize's "The Real Life" and Static Revenger's "Happy People" are already making enough noise, while excellent cuts from G Club and Brother Brown have a good chance of becoming, you know, anthems. CD 2 entitled "Night Life" is concentrated on Trance with great tracks like Schiller's "Das Glockenspiel," Members of Mayday's (aka Germany's Westbam) "10 in 01" and the excellent remix of Fatboy Slim's "Star 69" done by Timo Maas. The album also includes Hybrid's remix of BT's "Never Gonna Come Back Down" and Warrior's new cut, "Voodoo." Sure enough to have predicted at least a few more hits than last year's volume, Clubber's Guide To Ibiza 2001 is well worth the listen. Highly recommended for Ibiza lovers.

Cheesy?well it is typical ministry of sound,poppy and fairly commercial,as you would/should expect.This is not the sort of proper quality european trance you would expect from armin van buuren,or global underground,etc,it is radio friendly,party friendly,even teeny bopper friendly,but if your taste is more broad than strict trance,and you like techno,this is o.k.,although I found no tracks I would actually bother to play on disc 2.The track listing is there to get an idea,and some of the best tracks are remixes rather than anything new.Not hard core trance,but trancy none the less!

This is why I wish companies like Ministry of Sound would just cease to exist. This is a horrid compilation of SONGS that have trancey melodies in the background. If cheese could grow more cheese on it, this would be the music that would make that happen.

Avoid this. If you want to get a preview of the CD turn on the tv and next time you listen to something that sounds remotely like trance (primary on shampoo and tootphaste commercials) then you have heard what this pile worm food is all about.
