3 out of 5 stars SCOOTER - OUR HAPPY HARDCORE.......2006-06-17

Our Happy Hardcore has some good songs, but I'm afraid out of all the albums with Ferris Bueller, this is sadly not the greatest. Their debut album before it ("...And The Beat Goes On!") and the album after it ("Wicked!") were just filled non-stop action from start to finish, and sadly this one does not. I mean, it's a Scooter album, so it's already awesome, but there were a few, shall we say, boring tracks. Here's the list:

    1. LET ME BE YOUR VALENTINE: This song, I must admit, is very awesome. I will always love the happy hardcore sound of this song. A great single, it opens up with Amazing Grace on bagpipes followed by an outrageously wicked beat. Fast-paced, energetic, stellar lyrics, it's all featured in this great opening track. Sometimes, I think I would rather have this song as a Valentine instead of a woman.

    2. STUTTGART: For all you ignorant non-Germans out there, Stuttgart is a city in Germany where Hegel, a famous German philosopher, was born. But I digress. This track is a bit slow-moving. I think they try to make up for it with the over-dramatic piano.

    3. REBEL YELL: This seems to be one of the more popular singles of Scooter. I don't like it at all because I don't think Scooter is really for this kind of music. Yeah, it's a cover version of the classic Billy Idol tune, but it just is rather boring and doesn't have much creativity. The live version on Rough & Tough & Dangerous is much better because it opens with a WICKED piano solo.

    4. LAST MINUTE: One of Scooter's shortest numbers ever, it is fast and is mostly an accordion playing the whole time. It's based on some Greek or Turkish or Italian folk song, I don't remember which, but it's very famous, and I don't know what the name of it is.

    5. OUR HAPPY HARDCORE: I love this track because it has great piano chord progressions and a bloody splendid percussion section. More great lyrics from the frontman (or is it horseman?) H.P. so kudos to him. Very hypnotic; good to fall asleep to.

    6. EXPERIENCE: This is another one of those boring tunes that doesn't have much direction, and I wish it wasn't on the album.

    7. THIS IS A MONSTERTUNE: I would title this piece "This Is Mediocre". It's not great, but at least it's not boring. I think it's sort of a half-effort at trying to be a pump-up song with cliché synthesizers, but it is still OK.

    8. BACK IN THE UK: "The Rick, the Ferris, and MC H.P. Scooter!" This is probably the third really good song on the album. It was huge in England back in 1996 when it came out. It had so much success on the British charts that Scooter made a little-known version called "Back in Ireland" to satisfy their large Irish audiences. While the structure of the piece is pretty basic conceptually, somehow Scooter manages to make a great song with great lyrics. That's what I like about the old albums - the lyrics were much better.

    9. HYSTERIA: For the record, this is probably the most irritating Scooter song ever written. It sounds brash and obnoxious with a woman repeating the word "Ecstasy" for no apparent reason. I never thought I would say such negative things about a Scooter song, but this is pushing it.

    10. CRANK IT UP: A groovy trance song to finish off the album, it's just too mind-numbing with a rather loud bass drum and other downbeat noises accompanying it. It's OK, but not the greatest, like I said about a previous track.

In fact, I would say the album as a whole is just like that. Not great, but not awful (well, no Scooter album could be defined as awful). There are about three really good songs, but the rest are just OK or boring, so I would look for "Wicked!" or "Age of Love" if you're searching for a really good Euro techno album to buy.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, excellent happy hardcore.......2002-03-25

This is an excellent second album from Scooter!! It's so energetic and fast that it's hard not to keep the volume down when listening to it at home. Best track is definitely "Back in the UK," a nice tribute to a country which they, sadly, never really cracked in terms of singles chart positions. The album also contains HP's first attempt at singing cover versions of songs, with his rendition of "Rebel Yell," something he continues in most subsequent albums. Other good tracks on the album are the frantic energy of "Crank It Up" and the more thoughtful sounds of "Experience." But there aren't really any substandard tracks on this album at all, and most versions have a great kart game that you can play on your PC. It's quite an old album now and may be a bit difficult getting hold of in some countries but it's well worth trying to get if you're into this sort of music!

5 out of 5 stars and the beat goes on!.......2001-09-17

if you consider yourself a raver, or a techno lover and HAVEN'T heard this CD you MUST GET IT!!! apart from ...and the beat goes on and dune - self titled and "expedicion" this is probably the greatest happy hardcore/rave cd ever made.

all tracks are fast with a good beat, lots of energy and you will want to listen to them over and over. stuttgart is the best, regardless of what anyone else says. oh, experience is a classic to...ah sh*t there all f*cking classics!

5 out of 5 stars this cd will really keep you going!!!!!its great!!!!!!!!!.......1999-04-14
