angelic resonance.......2007-05-04
A lot of people try to write off Nine Inch Nails as noise. But I can only perceive this as angelic resonance. The first time I heard Down In It, I was on the beach, in the middle of the night, and I was shaken to the very foundations of my being. I knew instantly what the artist was singing about... the loss, the loneliness, the pain of a need so deep he would rather destroy himself than live without it... and if there was anything I possibly could have done, I would have done it to ease his suffering.
Listen closely to this music. This is the sound of despair.
I know it intimitely.
Great song, but blah remixes........2005-09-30
You know that song, "Down in It" by Nine Inch Nails, where he speaks to where it's almost in a rap, and there's lots of industrial noises on the chorus, etc? Well, that song _is_ included here in the form that also appears on the album. An entertaining song to say the least. I am just as big of a NIN fan as anyone else out there, but the TVT singles were really nothing to sneeze at. Especially "Down in It"'s single.
What makes this not worth owning? Well, others have explained that already. Besides, the remixes are boring, repetitive, and too long. If you are a halo collector, I guess you can get this. If you like the original "Down in It" and don't know if you want to get "Pretty Hate Machine" (a highly recommended album), I guess this too. But I feel that this single doesn't have the merit of the later ones like "Closer to God" and "March of the Pigs", truly great NIN singles.
a must have.......2005-07-01
true, these songs can be found on halo 3, head like a hole single, but if you are a serious nine inch nails collector, this is a must have.
down in it, although not the best nine inch nails song out there, shows you the beginning on nin. this is the first song trent wrote as nine inch nails.
Decent, but of no real value-- material available elsewhere.......2005-05-24
This single contains three mixes of "Down In It" by Adrian Sherwood and Keith LeBlanc-- the skin mix (which is the album mix available on "Pretty Hate Machine"), the shred mix, and the singe mix (the latter two both are available on the US "Head Like a Hole" single). Given that all this material is available elsewhere, the value of this CD is only to people (like me) who want to have a nice set of all the Nine Inch Nails halos (Reznor numbers all his releases with a "halo" number, I have no idea what the significance is).
The song itself is pretty well known, but in case you don't-- its a decent piece, catchy, nice rhythms-- primarily beats and effects over which Reznor speak-sings a sort of esoteric lyric thats been said to be about everything from a bad trip to a bad girl. The skin mix is concise and probably the best of the three, the shred mix is like the old 12" extended mixes-- its essentially the album mix with several minutes of additional beats and sampled vocals from earlier in the piece. The singe mix is a sort of dance mix with the vocal largely removed and relegated to a sample and is probably in my assessment the least enjoyable of the three mixes.
I'd give it three stars if it wasn't all available elsewhere on the strength of the material. Again, its for completionists only.
Obsolete... get Pretty Hate Machine and Head Like A Hole.......2005-02-09
Down In It (1989.) Nine Inch Nails Halo One
Trent Reznor's classic alternative/industrial rock group, Nine Inch Nails, first formed in the late eighties. At conception, the group did not use the gritty, agressive, down-to-earth industrial stylings that would make them popular in the mid-nineties, but rather a techno-influenced rock sound. Because of the difference in sounds, many a fan overlooks the band's early material, or just passes it off as being bad when it really isn't (it's my favorite NIN stuff!) Read on for my review of Halo One - the Down In It single.
This was the first official Nine Inch Nails release, and it contains three versions of the title track. The Skin Version of the song is the same version that appeared on the Pretty Hate Machine album, and the other two versions are available on the American Head Like A Hole single. In other words, this release is completely obsolete unless you're a Halo completist. Furthermore, the Head Like A Hole single contains the demo version of Down In It, something that really SHOULD have been included on this single. Since you can get all of these songs in other places, wouldn't you just be better off bypassing this single entirely? That's right. Unless you're a completist, don't bother with this.
This release (and most of the stuff from the Pretty Hate Machine era) seems to be becoming more difficult to find, implying that it is out of print. I could care less about this single since it's obsolete, but the other releases from this era really should have their production resumed and their availability increased.
My final verdict is obvious - The Down In It single is for Halo completists only. Likewise, the stuff on most Nine Inch Nails singles (usually nothing but remixes) is likely to appeal ONLY to big fans of the group. If you're a casual fan, stick to buying the albums, not the singles/remix EPs. If you just want all of the band's recordings and aren't so much a completist, you can get these on the aforementioned releases.

Britney knows how to do it........2006-05-15
This cd has some pretty cool songs. Britney knows how to sing and dance and shes awesome. Plus this is one of her bests songs. I just didnt likenumber 3 much..
Oops!... She Did It Again.......2003-12-23
This is a very cool single of Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again". With the original hit, and 6 remixes, this CD amounts to 30 minutes of fun. While the original is great, the Oops! remixes are equally awesome. Ranging from 3 minutes to 6 minutes, all of the remixes are fun and danceable. While not perfect, this remix disc is a fun addition to your CD collection. It will get you on the dancefloor and you will have a great time listening to this. It is a must have for Britney fans, and a great CD to own for everyone else. Highly recommended and very very fun. ENJOY!!!
it [stunk].......2002-07-30
I'm a huge Britney fan, but this cd [stunk] so bad. When I bought it, I thought I was gettin a remix cd of songs like Lucky, Stronger, Satisfaction, and other songs on that cd, but it was just "Oops" when it came in the mail. Two song, Track Numbers 5 and 7 are over 6 minutes, and 7 is the instrumental of 5.
That's Britney For You.......2001-10-22
Here are the review ratings out of five stars...
1. Oops! (Album Version) The original version. If you haven't heard it by now, you're really missing out on something! It's a catchy pop tune that made her a household name!
2. Oops!...The Rodney Jerkins Mix (4 Stars) It has a hilarious intro of a girl saying "Whoops!...Did It Again!" The remix itself is decent, a little bit of hip hop influence.
3. Ospina's Crossover Mix (4 Stars) A decent remix by Ospina. Not as good as any "...Baby" mix, but it's still decent, with a pretty background.
4. Riprock 'N' Alex's G's Oops!...We Remixed Again... (5 Stars) Yes, it's a long title, but this is the best remix on the CD. It's really great to dance to. They say "NOT THAT" in "not that innocent" on no end at one point!
5. Ospina's Deep Club Mix (3.5 Stars) You'll find a lot of Ospina Mixes on here. It's fairly decent, but nothing to jump around about. A good track for the most part!
6. Extended Version of Track 4 (5 Stars) It's the same as track four only extended.
7. Ospina's Deep Club Mix (Instrumental) (5 Stars) This is really cool! You can sing about anything with this background music. Try to sing the whole track 5!
Anyway, it's another 100% from the Pop Queen and her remixers!
Unbelivably, I Found It At A Store. Bought It. Loved It........2001-08-03
Unbelievably, I found it at a store. Bought it. Loved it. Reviewed It. Let Me Say it's one of the best singles/remix albums/remix singles (Whatever) ever!
1.Album version (3:30) It's the one that convinced you to buy it, huh? Original is here I'm thinking, so people can comapre and contrast to the remixes, mainly for people who haven't memorized it from the album itself!
2.Rodney Jerkins Remix (3:07) I liked it. not my favorite, but...same words, same tune, but the background is changed. No Titanic Interlude and the words are mixed around, as in, sung more than usual, less, less chorus repeats...
3.Ospina's Crossover Mix: (3:15) Cool! Very listenable, as are the other tracks, but I think this is more popular?
4.Riprock 'N' Alex G. Oops! We Remixed Again! (Radio Mix) (3:54) Played on the Brit's (British, not Britney) radio, eh? My personal favorite, actually.
5.Ospina's Deep Club Mix: (6:05) Deep Club Mix? What does that mean? I like it, but what does the title mean, really?
6.Riprock & Alex G. Oops! We Remixed Again! (Club Mix) (4:52) Cool Club Mix that dosn't have background music last for eternity like on the Stronger Remixes.
7.Instrumental Ospina bub (6:05) Works with the deep club mix. Sing Along and....
Listen again! Great CD Single/Remi....I won't go on.
Great buy, even if an expensive import. (For US Citizens)

Album Description
A combination of piano driven POP Ballads and up-tempo Dance remixes, delivered by a boyish high tenor vocal, is how you would describe the musical products of Richard Deese. It's a mellow singer/songwriter's expression of the stories of love and loss, alongside the more playful, fun, and sensual side of life.
