Top Quality.......2007-05-15
This set is amazing! All three discs have awesome tracks. Honestly, I can't pick my favorite disc. The Brisk & Ham and Dougal & Gammer discs are both positively awesome! Sy & Unknown is still good too. Lots of great vocals and lots of hard beats! Bottom line, you won't be disappointed!
Hardcore Euphoria!.......2007-04-11
95% of this entire box set is upfront Happy Hardcore, with the exception of the more freeformish tracks on Dougal's & Gammer's cd, and the Gabber at the end of Brisk's & Ham's mix. This is a must for any UK Hardcore lovers collection.
Amazing!.......2007-02-02
This CD set is absolutely amazing! By far one of the best box sets i have ever heard.

Good, but ancient........2006-03-13
To be absolutely honest-this is terrible when compared to MODERN (2005-2006) happy hardcore music. This CD was the beginning of a genre which was just learning proper form. Also, keep in mind, music synthesis technology in 1997 was not what is today in 2006 (then imagine where we'll be later on). With all that stated, here is some actually information on the album:
Happy2Hardcore is full of music pushing the tempo meter beyond what most people would enjoy listening to, and yet the music is well mixed and fun (though cheesy is a good description). DJ Anabolic Frolic is a very talented DJ (better in his later works) and there are no mixing flaws in this whatsoever.
If you enjoy the retro-techno sound, then this disc if for you, but if you find yourself a fan of DJ Tiesto, and expect that sound out of this disc, try something else. Don't buy this CD if you are new to the genre of electronic music (the non-pop stuff), or have little appreciation of experimental music.
It opened up Americas eyes.......2005-01-09
Chris Samojlenko aka Anbolic Frolic set off his H2BH series with this golden album. Funny how this album has an old skool feel yet produced in January 1997. Some tracks date back to 1992. For those whom know. It was his first and it wouldn't be his last.
Much respect Chris!
Hmmmmm.......2004-08-08
Hehe.... One time someone told this CD was made to be hated.. LOL.... The CD isnt all that bad (I've heard worse). I mean I can stand some songs. Its really because I'm a trancefreak BIG TIME! Never did acquire a taste happy hardcore....sounds like house on speed. I really dont recommend this CD at all...dont waste your money (I didnt... friend gave it to me.... now i know why he gave it away...lol), but if you're into all that jazz, dive right in.
WHAM BAM HAPPYCORE!!!!.......2004-01-28
This cd takes it back to the days of tru in your face happycore!!! Of course, the best way to hear this is with a giant speaker set up and all your friends dancin with you!!! but its great to listen to and imagine the good times :0D This is very differant from the UK Hardcore they got comin out now, and although i love UK Hardcore too, this will always always have a special place in my heart!!! Gotta love that cheese!!!
Great Old Skool!.......2003-10-30
Happy 2B Hardcore Chapter One is great! If you were partying back in the day or want something that sounds like you were, then this is it. It's fab and it's super upbeat. They don't make happycore like this anymore. The beat is fast and the lyrics are fun. It never gets old for me.

heavy.......2007-03-09
Way too technical and a bit assaultive. But I have to give props for the effort and chops. I like many of the compositions and I think this is one of VS' better efforts.
Not something you can listen to all the time. Comes off as a bit of a clinic, and that snotty vibe gets tired. But as always conceptually tight. Killer art and sound design.
pretty amazing, but not quite a 5 star album.......2007-03-03
Venetian Snares is for two kinds of people - 1) Super f'd up rave kids, and 2)People who realize that 4/4 time is a little overdone. (i'm a 2)
You will hear people mistakenly claim that Venetian Snares uses "random beats", or that he is just jumbling rhythms together. This is an oversight. A few tracks change from one time signature to another, but most are in one time and stay that way throughout (though it can be very trying to actually count). 90% of VS' tracks are in some form of 7 with the other 10% in assorted odd times like 5/4, 11/8, and my favorite 23/8 (divided two 4/4's and a 7/8). If you can't feel the groove of a seven beat, you'd better be a 15 year old k-head to fully enjoy this artist, let alone this album.
Let me first state that V-Snares is one of my favorites and I will buy and love everything Aaron Funk ever puts out. This album, in particular, is somewhere between "Winnipeg is a Frozen S***hole" and "Find Candace" on the Hardcore-O-Meter. It's not super gabber hardcore but still some definite head noddin'. The track "Aamelostasis" is brilliant beyond words, and the rest of the album is awesome, but it's not as inventive as the "Rossz Csillag..." album, concept-wise. If you have never listened to Venetian Snares, this is a pretty decent album to get your feet wet. Also check out "Chocolate Wheelchair" or "Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972-2006"
The bottom line is if you like Squarepusher, Autechre, Aphex Twin, etc. and you like odd time signatures, you will like Venetian Snares more than any of those chumps. He puts out like 2 ep's and a full release every year - all of it consistently funktastic.

This Cavalcade album is rilly quite lame. Dude has just lost it. The beats are always rite on, but the ambient stuff is so wack. Pretty much everything since Find Candace has been a waste.
Happy Happy Glee Poms!.......2006-12-31
I was a bit anxious about this one. "Rossz Csillag..." was an absolute masterpiece in my eyes: the glorious mash-up of beats and Bartok that the world had been waiting for (but kinda ignored all the same). But it *was* strangely "accessible". What if Aaron's mellowing out? Getting all musical on us? Maybe he'd want to repeat the trick?
F*** that. This is Aaron Funk we're talking about. He's tossed away the classical styles like they were last year's fashion. Good man.
For me, every Aaron Funk album shows improvement, too: more technically accomplished, more musical, more new. He's on a heck of a run of form.
About the style: back in the 90's techno-gods Autechre released "Anti-ep", including "Flutter". On the cover was a sticker proudly stating that no two bars had the same beats - a pretty stunning track, to boot. However, I'm not sure any two bars of rhythm on this entire fricking *album* have the same beats. Aaron is blessed with the boredom threshold of a mosquito and a rather exquisite way of expressing it.
Take "Swindon" - a roccoco harpsichord over a rhythm section you could almost call danceable, but it's endlessly shifting, reforming: diving off at wild tangents; digressing. It's also totally, utterly thrilling to immerse yourself in it.
There's a few other stand-out tracks: "Plunging Hornets" was my most listened to track this year. It takes the minor harmonics of the kind of music that was in "Rossz" and turns it into something frantic, desparate, unbelievably rapid. Kinda like hornets, plunging. The beats synchopate, align and then break into staccato dashes. Sometimes these kind of tracks get sterile, but there's enough modulation of tempo and mood to give a sense of emotional connection.
There's a lot of variety of tempo and style here, too: For people who like their Funk aural assault, there's Vache - something approximating "Happy Hardcore" like the title says. Aggressive, uncomfortable, invigorating.
The album also winds down elegantly, with some (relatively!) mellow tones (P is beatless and pleasant) and Cancel leaving a quite mournful sense in the air as the CD spins out.
Whew! Well, I like it. On the down side, it is a sum of it's parts as an album - it doesn't have the flow of Rossz, and some of the tracks are a little unremarkable: XIII's Dub, Twirl, for example. I'm stingy with my 5 star reviews, so this is a 4. Certainly one of my albums of the year, tho.
glxxzstyrp.......2006-08-15
snares is fun. but id forgotten just how much fun. thought he'd gone off the deep end after meathole... you know, maybe finally taxed himself just a little too much and released too much material? and when i listened to this off bleep, i was like.... yeah, whatever, time to find someone new.
but i bought this anyway, just to complete my list of snares records (all the way from greg hates car culture, upto meathole... hee hee hee) and this album rocks. should be four and a half stars. not as glitchy as huge chrome... which is good... but far more... dont know... unified than a lot of his old material, in terms of mixing melody and spazz. this record is intricate. its not snares busting out in yet another [!!] direction... more a refinement of terms. and damn its good. sometimes slow, sometimes spastic, always involved. not quite breakcore, not quite uber-processed "idm" but a really sweet balance between the two. and just recommending another planet mu record (cause they're cranking) - phthalocyanine's 25 tracks fer one.
oh. and yes. buy. its worth it. spesh if you like snares.

If you are into House music, this is a classic you must own. Not because it has a great music selection or even the pretty box that it comes in for that matter but for it's mixing aspect of it. This album deserves the spot on your music collection as it brings out a unique form of music to your ears. This is what NYC underground huse music is about and simply put, this album defines it for you. I guarantee you that this album will blow your mind.
He's no Junior.......2003-05-29
CD's good but he's no Junior ..........
Buy this one!!!.......2003-05-27
This CD set is amazing! Jonathan Peters creates a dark, sexy vibe and keeps taking it higher and higher over the course of two CDs. Can't recommend this one enough. "The Hurting" from Mac Quayle featuring Donna DeLory is by far the best cut but they are all hot. The companion DVD showing the Sound Factory crowd experiencing this music is kinda fun too. Hurry up and grab this one and get ready to FEEL IT!!!
From Sound Factory to Your Living Room.......2003-05-22
If you are a fan of JP, or have ever been to the Sound Factory, you'll love this CD. This compilation is the best yet at bringing the dark, hard beats of SF into your living room. As usual, JP's mixing is absolutely flawless to the point of not knowing where certain tracks end and others pick up. I like CD 2 better, because it moves a little deeper into that Sound Factory feeling with dark, dirty tribal beats that will keep you moving. If you are looking for "Dance Party 2002", you've come to the wrong place. "Wanjeru the African" is a superb lead into "Dark Beat." "Space Ride," "From Dusk to Dawn" and "Thunder" will groove you and if you don't get up and move to Peter's mix of "No One's Gonna Change You," check your pulse. The Factory and JP - nothing like it anywhere. Play it loud. Play it late. Enjoy.
JP Does it Again!.......2003-05-12
No one can deny the thrill and excitement of Factory and JP brings the party home on this set. Eclipsing his two prior releases, "Revelation" is everything that Factory is about. Dark, melodic, hard, progressive, sexy. CD #2 kicks it into a darker mood, but the music moves you start to finish.
If it weren't for JP's CDs I don't know what I would do. His music captivates and invigorates, and spinning about my living room, this set takes me to the soul of Factory.
If you don't have the two other sets, pick those up too! My only regret is that JP doesn't release more music. He is a musical god and an influential sound in the progressive scene; we've barely seen the beginning of what this man is capable of.

Totally Ridiculous...BUY IT NOW!.......2005-03-30
I couldn't believe it when I saw the price for this item. Two CDs for that amazing low price. At this price I really couldn't afford not to buy it. My only problem with this cd is the song "Heart of Gold" which is good, but overplayed. All the other songs are really bouncy and happy and totally ridiculous. "Fun Fair" has to be one of the most ridiculous songs I've ever heard in my life. The whole disk is crazy and really cheap. The other great thing is that there are two disks that have the same tracks, so you get one for your car and one for your entertainment center. The difference between the disks is that disk 2 is continuously mixed and done very well I might add. So if you like crazy ridiculous happy hardcore, Buy it now!
Good stuff.......2003-02-10
Forces and Styles are HUGE names in the Rave Community among the happy hardcore lovers. They are responsible for some of the biggest anthems in the history of the genre. Heart of Gold is a great track.
The 2 CD's included in this set, are VERY similar, and the RMX's are not very different than the origionals included.
This is NOT a mixed CD so all the tracks are seperate, if you are used to listening to the H2bHC Series this will be a big difference between this album and the series.
I do suggest this album for some good time music.
IF you like happycore this CD is for you!.......2000-10-06
if you dont know about force and styles well they are great and the album reflects that. well it starts out with an anthem of "heart of gold" but not i liked it better then the mixed version of anabolic frolic..the only down side to the cds is the fact that it is not mixed but every song is different...some other notable songs that i liked was "field of dreams"and "paradise in dreams"...if you like the happycore like anabolic frolics happy 2b hardcore series and you are tired of anthems go with this...you wont be disappointed!
Great cuts, fun music.......2000-05-26
Heart of Gold, one of the most recognizable Happy Hardcore anthems and the title track of this cd set from Force & Styles brings back many memories. Sure, those that are into Happy Hardcore will say that it is played out, cheesy, etc, but it still stands as one of the great Hardcore anthems. Along with many other Force & Styles cuts, this album is pure joy to listen to. It takes you back a few years, giving a great retrospective on the careers of these excellent producers. The mix cd is done well, with great mixes and decent tempos. While personally i enjoy anthems, those of you that prefer the harder hitting Happy Hardcore may be a little dissappointed. Most of these cuts have been around for quite a while, and this cd seems to contrast the more vocal anthem style of Happy Hardcore witht he harder, ruffer styles popular today. In the end though, this is a solid CD, with choons familiar to those that love the Happy Hardcore sounds!

A sentimental favorite.......2004-03-30
I have a soft spot in my heart for this album. My friend Josh came back to high school from a visit to Princeton, with a hastily-recorded tape of various Flowers tracks. We would cram into his car at lunch, listen as loud as we dared, and howl with laughter. Mr. A and Mr. HCI introduced us to a style of flippant irreverence that has rarely been matched in today's alternately morose and lecherous pop music scene.
I received a copy of Lasterday for my 18th birthday, from my soon-to-be brother-in-law. I was thoroughly impressed that he'd heard of them, and it was a bonding moment between us. It is the only album my long-suffering parents ever asked me to turn down the volume on.
Lasterday's highlights are "We Rock" (Your band sucks! We hate your band! Your band sucks! We're the best band!) and the self-explanatory "If This Gun Were Real (I Could Shoot You and Sleep in the Big Bed with Mommy)". The latter we somehow convinced our English teacher to play while we were studying Oedipus Rex. Sure beats Tom Lehrer.
I'd never heard the Ramones, and of course the Hives didn't exist yet. The Ataris were a mistake that had yet to be conceived. Green Day was probably still in Junior High. The Flowers were all I had that I could call my own.
Lasterday is screamingly funny, mainly because it breaks the taboo of laughing about violence against children. Yet, unlike some groups, it doesn't seem to encourage horrific behavior. They're just saying, "Yes, we realize this is a horribly offensive thing. That's why it's funny". Still, it's not recommended entertainment for victims of violence or their loved-ones.
I haven't listened to Lasterday in years and years. I have a child now, and Happy Flowers' pervasive theme of violence happening to children is more Korn than it is Lemony Snicket. But they were certainly influential.
Josh got into Princeton, got the clear skin and the job in rock & roll. I'm an engineer in Oklahoma. But when I think about Lasterday, I'm a 17-year old punk again, drowning out my sister's Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, and trying to piss off a world that thought they had seen and heard it all.

The Best of the Series!!! Old Skool Goodness!!!.......2004-05-22
This CD is old skool Happy Hardcore bliss!!! The best tracks are "Sunshine on a Cloudy Day", "You're Mine", "Time after Time", "12 inches of Love", "Natural High", "Kick your Legs in the Air" and "Keep on Trying". You will not get bored of this CD. You will love it forever. Also, try all of Anabloic Frolic's other Happy 2b Hardcore mix CD's, as well as Original Hardcore 2: The Battle, the Bonkers Series (Hixxy, Sharkey and Scott Brown), and check amazon.co.uk for Hardcore, and Hardcore vol. 2 both mixed by Sy & Unknown (great scratching!) Hardcore 'Til I Die!!!!
The best chapter of them all.......2003-03-02
This is by far the best chapter in the Happy 2b Hardcore series (there are 7 total chapters to date). Addictive synth rhythms, drum breakz, beautifully composed vocals make it impossible to get 'bored', unlike most dance & trance CDs that repeat the same 8 measures over and over and over - You will find yourself humming the tracks days after you listen to the CD! If you are new to the Happy Hardcore scene, this should DEFINITELY be the first CD in your collection. There is never a dull moment from start to finish - DJ Anabolic Frolic is the mastermind behind the flawless mixing between tracks - you can barely tell when one song ends and the next begins!!! This was the first hardcore CD I ever bought, and to this day (4+ years later), it is STILL the best. Chapter 2 comes in 1st place, then chapter 6, then 7 - Get them all!!!!
to buy, or not to buy?.......2002-12-28
One thing about this cd is that it contains an excessive amount of female vocals and cheesy lyrics. the drum and bass lines are the same throughout the whole cd which makes it somewhat boring. the beat is more of a constant gabber with a couple tricks thrown in the mix here and there. I think this cd would be more suitable for the ladies. this cd is barely techno. Overall, it isnt to terrible of a listen.
another happy set........2002-12-22
this cd picks up from the 1st with its old skool happiness. like the 1st chapter, the cd starts out at 170 bpm, and finishes with 175 bpm. the best song on this cd is big up the bass, you just cant get enough of that happy melody. and bang! has a happy song "cloudy daze" that just makes you feel like you are outside in bright warm sunshine dancing around at a rave. the mixing is a little better, but really short and there is hardly any blend to it, just beat matching and fadings. but another great collection of tunes
always happy a second time!.......2002-04-23
i just got this cd a few weeks ago when i went to media play. i really didnt know any of the songs on here so you can say it was a "blind buy", but since i had all the rest, i wanted to complet my collection. all the songs on here are wonderfully mixed (the best mixed in the whole set) for example: during song (3) you here DNA saying "kick your legs in the air" then when you put it on song (10) you here DNA again saying "kicking ur legs in the air" thats what i mean by it being mixed wonderfully. if i love this cd so much then WHY did i only give it 4 stars?? HARDLY ANY SONGS GET TO THE 140 BPM LIMIT!!!!!!!! i mean, c'mon anabolic frolic, you could have atleast made it fast! if you are one of those ppl that have close minded friends, then they are gonna tink ur a freak for buying this. but its ur decision.

Happy hardcore lives! Happy 2b Hardcore: Chapter 4, a compilation mixed by Anabolic Frolic, brings all the frenetic thrills associated with this extreme subgenre. Aggressively tactless, happy hardcore embraces all that is cheesy. Overly familiar movie themes, saccharine vocal melodies, and monomaniacal synth riffs are all put to wacky use in this 70-minute pulsefest of over-amped fun. The relentless beat, forever flirting with 200 bpms, is broken up only by an occasional drum & bass attack. Mr. X's "Hear Me," truly demented and inspired stuff, amazes with its sped-up vocals and piano playing. "I Want You," by BDB, is worth a listen just to check out the remarkable way vocalist Lisa enunciates the word "fantasy." "Clearly Now" by Frisky features Daniella singing a pretty melody, but also sports super-agitated keyboards. The whole disc is a spectacle of jittery, fidgety rhythm and exuberant chintz. --Fred Cisterna

Raver's Anthem.......2006-11-07
"Hardcore Don't Stop, Pistol Posse Pump It Up".....that's as cool as an adult with a pacifier in their mouth.
right on!.......2003-12-17
anabolic frolic, what can i say? a great DJ, a great promoter and an all around great guy. this CD has so many anthems... its an absolute must have in any hardcore lover's collection.
You gotta love it..........2003-11-19
Anabolic Frolic is just a bad@ss. I wish he was still making these cds soooo bad, and also that more people could hear them cause they are just amazing. Anyway, this chapter ties with #6 as the second best (nothing touches 3 though:).
This cd is mixed extremelly well and there are many standouts including:
#1 Space Odyssey - Some people dont like this one, but I think its pretty F-ing cool though. You cant deney its a great way to start an album.
#5 All That You See & Hear - Very trippy and intense, I love it.
#6 John Gotti's Revenge - (Heh, see number 1...) Im a sucker for remakes.
#'s 7-10 are just an awesome block of music with #9, Scott Brown's - Elysium, being the best...which has already been stated in every other review:)
#13 Clearly Now - Very upbeat song, so hard sit still when its playing:)
I'm being honest when I say that the other tracks are good too...these ones just really stand out in my mind. Anyway, if you're looking to check out this type of music then this is an excellent place to start. Listen to it right when you wake up. The opening track will get you pumped, and then the rest of the cd will make happy and excited to go to your sh*tty @ss job...thats how good it is.
A good introduction to happy hardcore music.......2003-02-01
Happy hardcore is probably one of the sub-genres of techno music I haven't really looked into but really should. I bought this cd a few years ago out of curiousity. And recently I have been listening to this cd quite a bit. I love the combination of frenatic techno beats with heavenly vocals and melodies. This is really great album to start your night of nightclubbing with. I particularly loved "John Gotti's Revenge", "Everytime I Close My Eyes", and "Clearly Now", especially the last two tracks with the female vocals. I can totally hear this sort of music used on soundtracks for video games. After rediscovering this cd,I really need to hear the other cds Anabolic Frolic mixed. I thought he did a great job with chapter four.
One of the Best Chapters.......2002-12-24
This chapter is one of the best out of the collection. I would have to say 2nd best though. Chapter 5 out tops this one just a tad but thats my opinion. This chapter is not too weak but not too strong. Its just straight up Happy Hardcore sound. Heres my thoughts on the track listing... [note:I rated the tracks from one to ten at the end of the discription.]
Space Odyessy- Good song. Its basically the Star Trak theme but Its cool how they mixed it up to sound good.7
Everytime I close my eyes - If you like happy hardcore love songs, then this is a good one. Its fast but the woman who sings it is great.8
Better Day - One of the shorter songs on the album and alright.7
Hear Me- really fast song. It would keep you moving if you danced to it. Another alright song.6
All that you see and hear - One of the most tripped out happy hardcore songs I've heard. Its LSDed out. Someone was on Acid when they made it, but its still an awesome song.8
John Gotti's Revenge- This is another theme song. I think its from the Godfather movie, I'm not sure, but it sounds so familiar. Another alright song, if you like break beat.5
Ravers Anthem- More like the Happy Hardcore Anthem. They couldn't of made this song any better.7
Run to me- One of the best songs on the album. Once again, its a very fast paced song.7
Elysium- Best song on the album. This song is what made me love the album so much. Its a dream like song. AWESOME!10
Love of my life - Second best song on album. Another happy hardcore love song.9
I want you- A song that you wish would go on forever.9
Mirror of love- Alright, but the woman on the song doesn't sing all that great but it doesn't ruin the song.7
Clearly Now - Best fast paced song on the album.8
Give me a reason - Good song, but it had some parts in it that kind of ruined it.8
See me climb - If you like happy sounds, then this is the song right here. Cool background noises. 9

Nice!!.......2006-11-16
This CD tore me away from all the Trance and all. Absolutely happy and feel-good songs are on this. The best track on this is definetly Elysium with that uplifting and amazing piano melody! Buy it, it's a good CD to get into Happy Hardcore with.
HEY!.......2005-11-24
BUY THIS F***ING CD! IT F***ING ROCKS! YOU CAN ALL SUCK A D*** IF YOU DON'T F***ING LIKE IT!!!
Awesome!.......2005-02-14
The music is awesome! It's not the same kind of stuff you'd hear on a Happy 2b Hardcore CD (Moonshine, [same company]), but it's still great! If you like Happy Hardcore you'll like this CD!
Not Happy, but Hardcore.......2005-02-08
I think someone has to be on mind altering substances to enjoy the happy cheesy hardcore because I don't take them and I find that kind of music to be ridiculous. I like trance, but I've found that most of it isn't fast enough. This is mostly trance with that fast hardcore edge. Other good stuff to check out would be stuff that is done by Hixxy. The Happy 2B Hardcore compilations are pretty good too. Stay away from the "Happy Happy Hardcore" disk though. Its total garbage.
Scott Brown Rox My Sox.......2004-02-26
Ok first off, this is not the cheesecore that most people associate with happy hardcore, this is its evolved form...U.K. Hardcore, some people also call it trancecore and freeform. But his CD has plenty of energy. It has one of the greatest Scott Brown trax ever...Elysium!!! Great song, enough to the buy the whole CD for :) but the other songs are also good, Especially Forever Yours, and Everytime...
Buy this :)
