Customer Reviews:
Whatever you wanna call it, this is the stuff........2002-01-07
I have been a big big fan of the Future Sounds of Jazz series for what seems like ages. I never go anywhere without at least one volume, so it seems only natural I would love pretty much anything that comes off the "Compost" label. This cd has the same feel as the FSOJ albums with both the 'jazz' and the 'electronic' sides taken to the extreme. Some tracks sound ready for the dance floor while others sound like a couple of edjucated jazz musicians who just learned about synthesizers. In my opinion this combination is amazing to listen to. Some music you have to think about in order to enjoy it, but with this you actually enjoy thinking about it! I'm glad i've found it. Add this one to your collection, it definitely has a place in mine.
Compost never disappoints..........2001-03-16
Electro-jazz, nu jazz, Brazillian influenced electronica, or whatever you want to call it, Germany's Compost Records does it best I think, and leaves the drum & bass, house, and hip hop to the other labels. Most tracks have a jazzy up and down tempo, rather than completely downtempo. Similar to Glucklich series and anything Ranier Truby. If you haven't heard this label and you like electronica, jazz, or both, this is a good intro CD.
Bottom line: great sampler compillation including Beanfield, Truby Trio, A Forest Mighty Black, Minus 8, Les Gammas, etc. although I like the actual albums of most of the artists better.
