Album Description

Dance music fans will no doubt rejoice that one of the scene's most influential DJs, Dave Seaman, has returned with the third installment of his acclaimed 'Therapy Sessions'. This new release comes hot on the heels of Seaman's acclaimed release, 'Renaissance The Masters Series Part 7', which racked up massive fan and press accolade, with UK dance bible M8 Magazine declaring "In terms of mixing and musicality, it raises the bar. Storming ingredients, masterfully cooked." For 'The Therapy Sessions Vol. 3', Seaman has assembled an incredible collection of progressive house, electro, and breakbeat. As with all 'Therapy Sessions' releases, Dave has hand picked an up and coming act to handle the mixing duties on disc two: this time it's budding UK duo Lexicon Avenue. Lexicon Avenue deliver a jaw dropping mix on disc two that will undoubtedly establish their name with stateside dance music fans coast to coast. Features tracks & remixes by Plastikman, King Unique, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, Satoshi Tomiie, Cagedbaby, Freeform Five, Dylan Rhymes, Ame, Radioslave and Linus Loves.

5 out of 5 stars 2 Good CD's.......2007-01-18

Well Dave has done it again! His other therapy sessions were a little different from this one, he did a best hits of 2006 and some new stuff instead of all new stuff. His CD is very good and has some hard hitting songs! LExicon Avenue surprised me! They are awesome and probably have the best CD out of all the guest DJ's on the therapy sessions! IF you have never bought any of the therapy sessions this is one you can't go without!

3 out of 5 stars My First Impressions of The Therapy Sessions Series.......2006-12-29

Dave Seaman has skyrocketed towards one of my favorite DJ's out there with this Global Underground release GU012: Buenos Aires. That double-disc set is so freaking flawless that it, without a doubt in my mind, rivals Sasha's following Ibiza GU release, and the subsequent John Digweed release, GU014: Hong Kong. That being said, however, this album (on the part of Dave Seaman) was a (partial) disapointment.

Where did he expect to take us with disc 1 (his mix)? Over bubbly and generally flat beats, the variation is just *not there*. Disc 1 seems to be purely audio [...] on Dave's part, and in my opinion is only suitable for driving unwanted guests from a house party (be sure to give your real friends a head's up that the second disc is on its way though! They will be sure to stay.) Listening to that album is like willingly taking the SAT's for fun.

I say this because Lexicon Avenue's following mix CD is one of the best I have heard in a LONG, long time. I just picked up some albums from much more revered artists and I can't stop returning to this relatively new group's offering. Turn up the subwoofers and let the intense ride begin. They mix the album well, the track selection is fantastic, the pace is consistent and varies in all the correct places. Most of all, I find it comforting to find that not only those 'world-famous' DJ's or groups are capable of producing discs which I return to on a habitual basis. Lexicon Avenue is definitely a group whose solo releases I will be diving into without hesitation from here on out. They outdid themselves with their disc 2.

Locate a friend with the album who feels oppositely and buy the Lex disc off him. Although, I will admit, for eighteen bucks I would purchase the double-disc volume just for the second disc, as it could have been a solo release for Lexicon Avenue.

I can't give this album any higher than three stars because of disc 1; if I had to split the rating I've given for the CD as a whole amongst its two halves, however, I'd give Seaman half a star and Lexicon Avenue the rest, hands down.

~Lex

4 out of 5 stars Dave is good; but in Bandwagon with Lexicon Avenue driving!!!.......2006-12-28

I did like Therapy Sessions Volume 3. However, in a way, it relates to John Digweed's Fabric release. With Dave's disc, he sticks to candy sounding electronic, like the track that Habersham did and I really like the 3rd track. He tries something different than he usually does too, with some other good tracks. Overall 3/5.

Disc 2 has a lot more house in it. Just like their Nite Life release and their famous track "Dusk Before Dawn", they do a brilliant job. I won't go into all the detail, but I give disc 2 5/5.

Dave has yet to beat the Master(s). Dave rides the bandwagon, but still does an all right job. I still like his other stuff though.

Overall, a good effort for both partners live from Audio Therapy!!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Good .......2006-11-03

Most of all album of Dave giving peaceful as giving colour of different music, specially at album of Therapy Sessions, so i realy like to listen masterpiece of his music.

3 out of 5 stars Seaman rides the band wagon... LEXICON AVENUE STRIKES BACK!!!.......2006-10-20

Initially, I was excited when I learned my favorite production/DJ trio, Lexicon Avenue, were to mix the 2nd disc of TSv3. Then I began to have doubts, fearing they too, might follow long exhausted retro/electro fads and use all of the trendy, 'right' records for their set, this time around the decks.

Suprisingly (not really...), what the Geordie boys delivered is a chuggin, edgey, bicep-flexin' onslaught of housey, groovin, tribal-tech and acid-burned beats. Bradford and Co. augment the tension effortlessly, culling an electronic amalgam of disparate tracks from different genres, which somehow manage to flow together like the innner mechanisms of some complex, well-oiled techno machine.

'Superflyin', by Cubic (Chus & Ceballos/Calderone) is a funky thrust of mean, driving, techno-tribal punishment, while the dark, menacing, sulfuric-etched grooves of Lexicon Avenue's own 'That Acid track', offer a post-progressive take on both a familiar, inimitable production prowess and a nostalgic, revolutionary sound which some (few, actually) are pulling off better than others as of late...

Hands down, this is the hottest and most well executed Lexicon Avenue mix compilation to date and offers a fresh, seamless, bangin' set of tracks. The cummulative vibe is one complete synchronicity: DJ's and producers at the top of their game and thoroughly enjoying and improvising every moment of the trip - "THIS-IS-WHY-YOU'RE-HERE!"

Regrettably, Dave Seaman's mix stumbles and falters by comparison. The mix begins with promise, however, featuring dub-tech dirtiness by Habersham, Kupon and Stelios. Unfortunately, by track 6, the mix is suddenly ambushed by the obnoxious, electro, high-end annoyance that is Freeform Five's remix of more electro/retro/disco flotsam. And then the mix continues to implode further into an emotionless, abrasive soundscape, reminiscent of unpleasant dental work...

Pick up this comp for the Lexicon mix alone and then listen to how the vibe and beat of progessive house is used as a weapon of 'bass' destruction by New Castle's wickedest...

3 out of 5 stars Solid Mid Tempo Pop Trance House.......2007-03-30

This does seem to be the perfect accompaniment to a fashion show or a corporate event - lively but not too noticeable to distract from the show at hand - people will tap their feet and sway but no one will want to really dance. It sounds "hip" but real dance music fans will know it's not particular edgy. It's pleasant would be the best description - it's solidly professional and not boring but no "real" club would be playing these tracks. Two of the vocal tracks stand out a little more - "Fantasy" and "I Believe," and are cute pop trance house - the others are nice background tracks but not very ambitious as dance tracks.

American DJ Christopher Lawrence has had a productive partnership with Scotland's Hook Recordings since he started working with Hook label head Chris Cowie in 1998. Un-Hooked: The Hook Sessions concentrates on the self-produced material Lawrence created there, by and large a top-heavy collection of peak-hour anthems. "Navigator" and "Shredder" are prime examples, but then "Filmer" makes an appearance as well, a sparse, downbeat track that gives the listener a moment's rest before the thumps start raining down. Lawrence doesn't do much mixing here (though the tracks are blended), but his stamp as an "up vibe" DJ is just as prevalent as it was on his first artist record, 2004's All Or Nothing. It's enough to make you wish Lawrence would spend even more time in the studio; after all, the world's club DJs could certainly use more of that elusive wax known as quality trance. --Matthew Cooke

Album Description

THE NEW ALBUM FROM AMERICA'S FAVORITE TRANCE DJ/PRODUCER!

The winner of the "BEST DJ" award at the DANCESTAR USA 2002 AWARDS, voted #5 in BPM magazine's "AMERICA'S FAVORITE DJ'S" list for 2004, and ranking #35 on DJ MAGAZINE'S prestigious "TOP 100" DJs list of 2003, Christopher Lawrence is recognized the world over as one of the preeminent trance DJs.

With the release of `Un-Hooked' Christopher Lawrence's production skills continue to unfold, revealing an album laced with progressive trance anthems like "Shredder" and "Cruise Control" alongside down tempo gems such as "Filmer". `Un-Hooked' bristles with energy and passion from the onset, serving up enough melody and nuance to captivate even the most discerning listener. Drawing on tracks co-produced with seminal trance/techno producer Chris Cowie of legendary Hook Recordings fame, `Un-Hooked' is sure to catapult Christopher Lawrence into the upper echelon of original electronic music artists.

A continuous mix of original material. This CD is playable on all audio and digital formats.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Chris Cowie, perhaps the best music producer ever. .......2006-04-03

Considering Chris Cowie (owner of the now defunct Hook Recordings) is the author who is at the heart and soul of these tracks I think his name should be equally mentioned. CL has come a long way indeed, but in the Hook days it was Cowie who was the real master-mind behind these tunes.

Nothing against CL. He is a great DJ and songwriter, but Cowie deserves equal credit. This is indeed a fantastic album. A+

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2005-09-27

Way too chill for my tastes. Nothing very catchy about any of the tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Chris Lawrence.......2005-09-09

Don't let the squaeky clean white image fool you- this DJ has got game, Home Boy, and lets the beats speak louder than the words.
I really couldn't agree more with the other two reviewers about the CD and music quality of this artist.
Only wish that other reviewers were as accurate in their summaries.

5 out of 5 stars BENCHMARK.......2005-02-26

CL sets the standard for all trance Djs and producers. No cheese , EVER. Solid dark, heavy, sleek, and graceful tastes.

5 out of 5 stars Top notch boom-tiss.......2005-02-05

While the album starts off with the more downbeat 'Filmer', have no fear. Before long, an onslaught of some of the most straight-ahead boom-tiss gushes forth.

This is good, hard trance that simply...moves. If you've seen and heard Lawrence live, this is a good disc. This is a continuous mix of Lawrence's best tracks, though the mixing isn't the main focus. This thing pounds right out of the stereo, and is best listened to beginning-to-end, and then back to the beginning.

Easy to recommend, very dependable. Perfect driving music, which is why some of Lawrence's music pops up in video driving games (like 'Rush Hour' in Need for Speed 2). Also perfect for blowing up a mega-club.

5 out of 5 stars Chillout Sessions - Vol. 4.......2006-02-25

Great set for some smooth ambient music. The first disc is a lot more laid back than the second, but both are good. If you've heard the other chillout sessions (or are looking for a good intro), this is a great pick up.

5 out of 5 stars Chillout 4.......2004-12-14

Out of all the MOS Chillout Sessions, Number 4 seems to be the best so far,

It gives you a feel if what the cover displays WInter White Darkness Chillot to relax by.

A good mix, esp including some non English SOngs, and songs that have the feel of the 20s.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing.......2003-05-21

I bought this cd today, and I'm yet again, incredibly impressed. MOS has not failed in bringing yet another beautiful mix of songs. I would definately recommend it to any chillout fan.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good CD overall............2002-03-02

......a little too disco-ish for my tastes. In my opinion the one done by Mark Farina is superior , but even that CD the material is not something that I reach for out of my CD wallet every so often. This a good , but not great CD put together with skill , but out of the 250 + progressive/trance/space house/acid jazz/electro/drum and bass CD's I own , it rarely gets much spin.

5 out of 5 stars Best in Deep House.......2001-10-26

DJ John Howard serves us up with volume 2 containing deep tribal tracks and some smooth deep house beats. Once you pop this CD in you get a very smoothe mix throughout the whole CD. Starting very tribal and very smoothly and gracefully working into some great deep house tracks! Never lagging and constantly adding new flavor as the minutes flow by. Overall a great successor to Mark's classic.

5 out of 5 stars Highest Quality House Music.......2001-09-24

Not everyone understands house music ..... Do you remember these words from the "House Music" - Amador? This CD is superb for the people who do understand house music philosophy. John Howard has compiled a unique album, only high level sound, the true sound of the real house, with a touch of deep jazzy grooves. Perfect at night, for making love or for party, very good while driving a car. Absolute must have cd for quality house lovers.

5 out of 5 stars house.......2001-02-21

Anyone who likes good house will totally dig this CD. Its less soulful, less smooth than Farina's Sessions, but more influenced by tribal and latin beats. In other words this is PHAT, or DOPE, or TIGHT... Because it goes like MMMDIT, MMMDITDIT, MMMDIT, MMMDITDITMMM.... ohh yeah baby, even if you're anit-dance music you can dig on this

5 out of 5 stars House at it's best!.......2000-06-23

This CD definitely lives up to Mark Farina's Vol. 1, and that's saying a lot. John Howard has given it his all on this album and it's well worth it. But it now!

3 out of 5 stars I've heard better from Louie.......2005-05-21

New York City DJ, Louie Devito, has released plenty of good mixed albums. A lot of them are good material. Unfortunately, this CD's not one of them. Louie's put plenty effort into many of his other albums and not this one. Why hasn't he? This is why I believe his "NYC Underground Party" series is taking a slide. Volume six made me worry about this pattern forming. Louie Devito's a much better DJ than this. I expected better from him. The CD contains 14 tracks. There's no intro or megamix like in many of his other albums. There's also a bonus DVD inside, "A Day In the Life Of Louie Devito." There are some tracks on this CD that have poor quality. Tracks like Abel Ramos' "Aquarius" turned out to be painful the first time listening to the whole way through. The first half of the track is okay. But the second half is irritating. That one note composition going "bung bung bung... bung!" throughout most of the second half made me feel like there was a self-destruct sequence going on inside my head. I was getting ready to throw some hard object across the room before it ended! Danny C's "Razorblade" is a superficial borefest. After reading the track title, I thought "Razorblade" was going to be awesome. The beginning of the track seemed promising. Unfortunately, it got repetitive a minute through the track. Angel City's "Do You Know (I Go Crazy)" is poor work. It's a rip-off of Robert Miles' "Children." It's bad enough that Angel City ripped off "Oh Sheila" to make "Love Me Right." "Do You Know (I Go Crazy)" is just as unoriginal. Adding vocals to the song doesn't help. Couldn't they've been more creative? There are other tracks on here that aren't as bad as the ones I've already mentioned. They're okay. But they're still not as fun to listen to. Marco V's "C:\Del*.MP3" is okay. But it gets kind of dull. "Producelast" by Trancescape is kind of better. But its still a blunt track. I've also got tired of Plummet's "Cherish the Day." I used to enjoy "Cherish the Day" mostly for its beats. I've lot interest in this tune after a few months went by. It was nice while it was fresh. As for good tracks in this mix, there's "Silence 2004" by Delerium with the vocals of Sarah McLachlin. Even though the version from 2000 is more dominant, this is still an excellent track. Not much has changed from the 2000 version. All the vocals from the earlier "Silence" are this version as well. There's also Tiesto's "Traffic." This song's like coffee. It keeps me going. My favorite part's the staticky radio reception sounds near the end of the track. I also like Paul Van Dyk's "That's Life." It sounds sort of like a country song (just like his "Time Of Our Lives" single). Paul still uses the same beats in "That's Life" as well as in his other songs. I still like it. Paul Van Dyk never fails to impress me. Other songs include "Sky" by Modulation, Randy Katana's "One Solid Wave," Kane's "Rain Down On Me," Maaya's "Velvet Rain," and Blank & Jones' "Perfect Silence" (which is the last track the mix and ends in a fade-out). I still like Louie Devito's material a lot. But there are still things from his work that get me to worry. Volume seven of "NYC Underground Party" is going to be released this autumn. I'll be looking in to that. But my hopes aren't high. I fear this path this series is taking will continue downward. I know Louie can do better and I hope he does. I don't want anymore of his work to turn out like this. I'm afraid of what might happen if that keeps up.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Chilling.......2003-05-11

After thoroughly loving The Chillout Sessions 2, I eagerly proceeded to buy this album, and I was not disappointed. From the funky beats of Groove Armada's "My Friend", to the earthy rhythm of Nitin Sawhney's "Sunset", this album was a mixture of blissful beats and chilled out house.

A personal (and perhaps obvious) favourite, was Zero 7's "Destiny". Nearly all the songs were excellent in their own right, with the only ones I didn't think belonged on the album were Basement Jaxx's "Romeo" and Lamb's "What Sound".

Following the same composure pattern as the previous chillout session, the first disc was filled with flowy, melodical beats, while the second disc was more dance-orientated.

I would definately recommend this to ambient and non-ambient music fans alike.

5 out of 5 stars First timer is hooked.......2004-10-25

I owe my older brother for introducing me to Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation. But this Summer 2004 Chillout blew me away and put me on a mission to find chilling tunes and inspiring mixes.

Disk 2 starts off dreamy with SubSub, and picks it up from there with funky, interesting tracks, seamlessly mixed together. BRS 'Lovin Me' is great, but all are good - hit play and call a few friends. Probably will be your fave of the two, initially.

Disk 1 turned me off at first, mostly due to the melancholy Michael Andrews "Mad World" - a Tears for Fears cover. A little more unusual mix, and a rapidly changing mood for a few tracks, but the latter tracks on Disc 1 are great. The Sofa Surfers, and tunes like 'Try Me' and 'Jam for the Ladies' converted me. Got to get a couple more MOS Chillout disks and am glad to have been exposed to these other artists!
