Customer Reviews:
Bill Kaulitz brings it in English too!.......2007-06-23
Tokio Hotel recorded some of their songs in English because they wanted to share their lyrics with others who might not know German... they wanted to be sure that the meaning of their songs was correctly translated. That is what this album is.
It's fantastic.
Anyone who thinks they do not like Tokio Hotel? If they hear Sacred or By Your Side is sure to be hooked
different in english.......2007-06-17
its defiantly different hearing it in english. I enjoyed the CD but I absolutely love the German version of all of these songs! If you're a huge fan you should have this CD. For the people who have not hear of this band or songs by them give them a listen! They have so much talent and their music is really good for a rock band.

Album Details
The 'finger Return with their Album 'dream Days at the Hotel Existence', the Band Recorded their Sixth Studio Album at the Studio One Studios in Los Angeles, with Rob Schnapf Producing. It's the First Time the Band have Created an Album Outside of Australia. Here's Bernard Fanning Explainign the Story Behind the Title: "The Album Title Comes from a Book the Brooklyn Follies by Paul Auster, which I was Reading During the Recording. It Seemed Very Appropriate with Its Ramshackle Plot, Large Cast of Characters and Escapist Idealism. To a Bunch of Chaps from Brisbane it is Very Much What Los Angeles Can Seem Like".
Customer Reviews:
Loved It.......2007-07-11
I completely enjoyed this CD, you can listen to the whole cd. I was sick of the music playing on US radio stations (always same songs, same artists) and I was bored of my cd collection already. I went searching for something to listen to and found powderfinger, what good timing, with Dream Day being released, I also purchased Vulture St. and also loved it,(more rock).
**I think they are my new favorite!!
Yet another great album from the boy from Brisbane.......2007-06-20
What a fantastic album. Powderfinger delivers again with some fantastic rock songs.
Better than Vulture Street, but not Odyssey #5.......2007-06-12
I was worried that Vulture Street, although good, was the beginning of Powderfinger's fall from their peak, Odyssey #5 (this is obviously just my opinion). Dream Days seems to be better than Vulture Street after a few listens. IMO its not better than Odyssey or Internationalist. But a very strong album indeed. Not a bad track on the album.

Customer Reviews:
Standard Great White Stripes.......2006-01-24
The album version of Hotel Yorba plus a performance at Hotel Yorba. Rated X is a nice song about our double standards about women who get divorced and try to have fun afterwards. When the song's over, Jack says "Let 'em talk, Meg." Hmmm, inspired by their own divorce? Maybe. The live version of Hotel Yorba is a different sound with Meg singing back up on the chorus. This is a fun EP to own.
Good stuff - nothing groundbreaking.......2005-12-19
For some folks (me) the Stripes can't do much wrong. There's nothing groundbreaking here but a good old romp with Hotel Yorba. A must have if you're trying to keep the library current.

Customer Reviews:
A must, sort of.......2004-11-12
If you have the $ or are in Australia get, this one w/ the extra disc. V good. The extra disc is a great idea too. I'm not a big fan of "extra hidden track" tracks. If put on a bonus disc then it doesn't screw w/ the original; it becomes an addition and you can take it or leave it. When the e.p. came out one could download it. I was technically not capable of doing so but fortunately my brother-in-law just moved to Australia so he picked me up a copy. Cool. Getting this one instead of the original configuration of YHF is not a must. It's only a must if you happen upon a copy in yr travels. You could then trade in yr original copy or give it to a friend to spread the love.
YHF.......2004-11-02
Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot stands out as one of the most artistic, creative, and original albums ever recorded and spun. Tweedy rightfully restores the long forgotten mystery that once surrounded music and the musicians behind it. YHF is an album filled with a cosmic atmosphere and melodic rainbows; it is not meant for "listeners on the go". Everything (instruments/vocals/effects) is at a perfect balance and the listener is consumed by Wilco's harmonic homeostasis. Wilco's music has evolved with time and now transcends genre altogether. YHF is invulnerable to time: as long as people have open minds and listen loud, records like this will continue inspire.
When you listen to this album, only do that....
Peace,
Daniel Sanacore
Yankee Hotel Fox Crap - ZERO Stars.......2004-09-14
This is what Sting would sound like if he were born in Arkansas. Simply put, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is awful. I should have steered clear when I started seeing comparisons to Radiohead, but I was suckered by the positive reviews. Once upon a time, alternative music, and alt-country especially, could be relied on for simple pleasures, and at some point things would start to rock. No more. Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it. We have gone from No Depression to All Depression. Jay Bennett didn't leave the band because of this music. He lapsed into a boredom-induced coma while listening to the tapes and is still asleep under a desk somewhere. I beg you... don't encourage these people. Go buy a used Bottle Rockets CD instead.
Hey! I just found out that Wilco was sued for using the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" soundbite without permission. As a result, they had to fork over a large sum of money to the owner. So, something good came out of this dreck after all - kinda like finding a quarter at the bottom of a portajon. The soundbite is from a 4CD collection called "The CONET Project." The discs consist of recordings of short wave "number stations" - mechanical voices repeating numbers to no discernible purpose. It's a great collection, and a million times more interesting than this disc.

Album Description
Three years after 1999's multi-million-selling 'Onka's Big Moka', comes the sophomore album from the British act. So named after the Los Angeles hotel in which they stayed during the recording, 'Magic Hotel' brings together Toploader's unique blend of influences. First single 'Time of My Life' showcases a joyful stomp of classic rhythm & blues, while 'The Midas Touch' comes on like the theme to a lost Bond movie, elsewhere, there's a West Coast vibe to the track 'Leave Me Be', which embraces the Californian call to live & let live & offers enough sunshine to brighten even the grayest day. 2002.
Album Details
Second Album from the Band that Takes a Cue from the Doobie Brothers with their Name (A British Reference to Rolling a Joint) Whose Musical Style is a Harder Edged Pop with a Strong Deference to the 1970's and It's Rainbow of Styles. Customer Reviews:
How could you not like good music like this?.......2003-04-27
If you love good soul and funk, then just buy it. You can dance to it, groove to it in your car, or whatever. It's just good music. It doesn't matter who they are "trying to be" (if that is even true) and it doesn't matter that they sound like they want to have been on Atlantic or Motown records, it's all good. Forget about judging them and listen to the music, and you'll want to buy this album, I know I did.
Hmm All Sounds A Bit Samey.......2002-11-05
I must admit I borrowed this album and i hated 'Dancing in the moonlight' as it just got played to death, i just wanted to smash the radio everytime that horrible 'plinky plonky' bit started , so i am probably not the person to be writing this review.
I really wanted this lot to do well as i am from the same town (Eastbourne) but i just couldn't get into it at all. Joe Washbourne is trying so hard to be Marc Bolan it is painful in places and i just couldn't really find any stand out singles tracks. It ventures too often into that horrible 'dad rock' territory, previously reserved for Paul Weller's drab new offerings and Ocean Colour Scene (last seen playing my local leisure centre)and look what happended to them!. I think Toploader arrived too late and could have been bigger 6/7 years ago.
It's not a bad album, just not a good one
Absolutely great music.......2002-10-02
Never heard of them before but saw the video (Time of my life) on MTV and bought the CD. Really good, rockin',funky music.

A deliciously fun rap song that you just want to sing along to. Great words, great song, great group. Karma Hotel makes me think of the song "Hotel California", it's just as spooky and just as catchy. Wonderful.
Awesome CD single.......2001-12-23
I really love this CD,especially Karma Hotel, because its just a very different mixture of pop and rap all in the same song. I also love English bands, so it's just all the better. You may also want to check out the MTV Hits CD with Karma Hotel, and lots of other awesome songs on it!

the way it will be.......2004-03-12
This is to modern music what Revolver was to those who grew up listening to "I want to hold your hand". It is at first near on unlistenable, by the fourth time you like it, by tenth you feel the music, you know it, understand it, love it and could never go back.
Bonus CD does not equal the YHF album.......2003-05-03
(YHF Album: 5 Stars Bonus CD 4 Stars)
The YHF album of course rates 5 stars, and we dont need to go into details here. The question is how the bonus CD (6 tracks, 22 min) stacks up. It was at first supposed to be issued as an EP in the US, but that has been shelved--permanently (although it now is available as a free download if you own the YHF CD). The answer is that it is a mixed bag, not up to par to YHF.
"Camera" is a rockier (and distorted) version of YHF's "Kamera", and quite frankly not as good. "Handshake Drugs" is quite good. "Woodgrain" is a short tune (less than 2 min.), finding Jeff Tweedy solo on guitar. "A Magazine Called Sunset" is another short, yet beautiful, upbeat tune. "Bob Dylan's 49th Beard" is a song Wilco has played regularly live on the tour supporting YHF, and it is the best song on here. "More Like The Moon" rounds out the CD, a mid-tempo, reflective tune, with a beautiful accoustic guitar solo.
It is very instumental that Jeff Tweedy decided to leave these songs out of YHF's final track listing. YHF is so much more daring, and for that matter cohesive. In the end, the bonus CD is nice, but not essential, for anyone (like me) believing YHF is one of the best albums in recent memory.
YHF w/Bonus CD is worth the extra $$$.......2003-04-15
For hardcore Wilco fans that need a fix until their next release, the bonus CD offers just what the junkie ordered. There are some experimental sounding tracks on here, which, like some on YHF, take a few listens to really start to appreciate. Alternatively, the best two tracks, A Magazine Called Sunset and Bob Dylan's 49th Beard, are instantly likable. Especially the former (Magazine), its lyrics and melody along with its Beatle-esque mellotron sound represent what is fast becoming Wilco's signature sound. BOTTOM LINE: If you love Wilco, this is a must have...especially if they're not planning on releasing it in the States.
YHF = excellent. but this is the only cd that has the bonus.......2003-04-07
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a great collection of rock songs that border on catchy and experimental. However, it should be noted that the bonus songs on this cd will NOT be released in the US. The original plans to release the EP in America has been cancelled.
