Pete's ventured into a slight acoustic phase. You'll love it. You'll not dance as much, but Pete's glorious vocals are worth the cash. The "C" notes you'll expend on this LP will REWARD you. Trust me on this ladies, you'll love this LP. You'll find yourself wiping the lipstick off of the jewel case.

Well when i first bought this i was so excited that DOA and Pete finally had a new CD out!! The art alone is stunning!! Pete never looked so good! I was shocked when i first started listening to these songs though...it is nothing like what they had done earlier....it took me a few listens to warm up to this release but now it is one of my favourites!! Sometimes a new sound can be an acquired taste but once you have acquired it you only want more...this is one of those.....I waited forever for DOA to release part 2 of Fan the Flame ....2005 and i am still waiting......

despite the reviews on this album from others, I find it to be one of the best album by (DEAD OR ALIVE) (except for the "Nukleopatra" album, it's downright excellent). "I PARTICULARLY", Like "UNHAPPY BRITHDAY", "TOTAL STRANGER", (AND MY FAVORITE SONG ON THIS ALBUM,) "WHAT HAVE U DONE 2 MAKE ME CHANGE)" AS WELL AS THE OTHER SONGS LISTED ON THIS ALBUM, "EXCEPT FOR BLUE CHRISTMAS", (THERE IS A MUCH BETTER VERSION, ON THE FRAGILE ALBUM) I do agree, (though), this album is different from the other (DEAD OR ALIVE) album. "but sometimes", (YOU JUST WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING DIFFERENT). (which is why (DEAD OR ALIVE) made this album in the first place). THEY WANTED TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. AND I PERSONALLY THINK, (DEAD OR ALIVE) DID A REALLY GOOD JOB MAKING THIS ALBUM... :-)

If you have lost sight of DOA after the SA&W albums and want to catch up with the news, I recommend the 2-CD limited edition of the band's compilation "Evolution" which includes two of the best three tracks (in my opinion) of this album -- "Unhappy birthday" and "Your sweetness is your weakness". My third favorite track is "What have U done (2 make make change").
The rest of the album sounds like the soundtrack of the "Loveboat" TV-series. Either you find that with such a change in style, Peter's campy lyrics have find their perfect shrine, or this is a "no trespassing" clause in your quest for good albums of one your favourite hi-NRJ band from the 80s. It's up to you.
Out of the blue in this musical cruise comes "Blue Christmas" which is a sad ballad about spending Christmas time alone, just Peter and an electric piano, a very unusual song indeed in DOA's discography.
If you don't like that kind of music, I still recommend the album just because it is hard to find (a collector's attitude). It is available only at Amazon US and Japan, which excludes a big share of the band's fan base.

Been a DOA fan since the beginning and I have to tell you, I listen to this cd over and over and over!! It is awesome! As soon as the first note played on the first song, I knew I was going to love it and I do!
What more can a die hard DOA fan say?? ;)
