Customer Reviews:
series is running thin--not enough classics that desperately need CD releases.......2007-06-16
Personally, I was thrilled to have a couple of 12" versions on CD at last--Walk Right Now by the Jacksons, Who's Zoomin Who by Aretha and the 12" mix of System of Survival by Earth Wind & Fire. FINALLY these tracks are on CD! There were also some other surprises like the long version of Galaxy by War and the long version of Roy Ayers' Running Away. But there were also way too many tracks that are not all that hard to get on CD, like Sister Sledge, A Taste of Honey, and Chic. With so many 80s classics still not on CD, these tracks seem like a big waste of space. The inclusion of a bunch of Bobby O productions is cool, but again, most of these were already released on official Bobby O compilations. The only other bittersweet surprise here was the version of The Runner by Three Degrees. Liebrand admits on his site that he still hasn't found the full 8:10 12" version, but that this was a really good mix too. It definitely retains the sound of the original Giorgio Moroder disco production, but it would still be great to get the actual 12" version on CD at last.
Let's just hope volume 5 taps into the huge number of more mainstream 80s hits that show up on numerous compilations in their single edits but never in their 12" remix versions, because those classic 12" mixes still desperately need to be preserved on CD, and for the price of a 4 CD set like this, it's just got to pay off.
Sound is Amazing. .......2007-06-12
Wow! The sound is incredible. The songs on disc one never sounded so good. Every track is a winner minus track 10. Cd 2 is kind of boring, but I do like "Walk Right Now" by the Jacksons. Cd 3 has 2 big hits from Bobby O and the first single by the Pet Shop Boys. Cd 4 Trommeltanz (Din Da Da) 12" Master and also the Dub Version by George Kranz. If you want to hear these old songs sound new again, Buy this collection.
My Favorites are
1) Boogie Oogie Oogie by A Taste of Honey
2) They Only Come Out at Night by Peter Brown
3) Trommeltanz (Din Da Da) by George Kranz
4) Ai No Corrida by Quincy Jones
5) She Has a Way by Bobby O
6) Galaxy by War
7) Billy Jean by Michael Jackson
8) Groove Line by Heatwave
9) Walk Right Now by the Jacksons
10) Le Freak, Spank, Stay the Night and White Horse.
I own all 4 volumes of Grand 12-inches, but there are at least 10 songs in this collection I didn't like. However, I would still buy this for the sound quality alone.

Customer Reviews:
Superb for the collector and DJ alike.......2007-03-09
The quality of these CDs are really impressive. Its good to have really good quality 12" mixes of these tracks. I DJ a lot myself and this and the others in the series are invaluable.
Finally..........2007-01-10
along came the Grand 12 series which is a must for those who enjoyed dance classics of the '80's, '90's and beyond. This series definitely closed the gap of my "must have" hard to find music list.
THIS IS THE GREATEST 12" DANCE COLLECTIONCOLLECTION.......2006-10-17
Being DJ myself years back. I find this collection of the 12" versions one of the best collections I've seen in many years. The quality of the sound was great plus the selections of songs were just great. I was so impress with volume one that I have bought volumes 2 and 3. Thank you Mr. Liebrand for bringing these collections they are great.
no radio edits here!.......2006-08-16
For crying out loud, now there is positively no excuse for continued complaints from dance disco buffs about shortened material music available on CD compilations. With continued support to dream makers who put this package together we can expect the best of dance music yet to come. The first volume is killer stuff and sounds OH so good.
The search is over, WOW!!!.......2006-06-14
One of the best collections ever! Thank you Mr. Liebrand for taking the time to put all of this wonderful songs together. Especially for including Patrick Cowley's remix of "I feel love", Moroder's disco-trance masterpiece. Patrick Cowley was able to perfect perfection by adding the high energy of his keyboards to the hypnotic rhythm creating the crowning jewel of all dance floors around the world! All the other songs are great, but I would have pay the money just for that one alone. Long life for all of them whom keep on bringing back those treasures from the past!!!

Customer Reviews:
Awesome . . . .......2007-06-11
a must for the Disco/House lovers. Brings back memories of U.S. Studio/The Warehouse: 206 South Jefferson, Chicago!!!
Good, but not as good as Vol 1 and 2.......2007-03-09
I really like this series of CDs from Ben Liebrand. They are in the whole superb. However, i didnt feel that this release was as good as the previous two. Some tracks, as has been said in other reviews, you can easily pick up elsewhere. Just a note, a lot of the tracks on here are Ben's Favourites so we cant really complain. Overall, I would give it 4 and a half stars, so you'll have to make do with 5!!
The third volume with rare finds & hope it continues!.......2007-02-01
I never thought that I could find some songs in their full-length glories again. I'm so glad that there are still people who painstakingly search for music that are thought to be gone forever and if they do exist, they're now considered as gems. I've no regrets that I have the 3 volumes and I'm even more excited for future releases. I can hardly wait for the next volume.
2 rare Giorgio Moroder productions on CD, and SO much more!.......2006-08-16
12" dance collectors rejoice. Ben Liebrand has assembled a 3rd volume loaded with full length mixes, tediously mastered (some from vinyl because he couldn't find the original masters, but you really can't tell). Personally, 2 songs that make it extremely worth the price for this 4 disc set for me are the Giorgio Moroder productions: Suzi Lane, and the 12" version of Janis Ian from the Foxes soundtrack. There are also NUMEROUS hard to get 12" versions finally here on CD. Still so many more elusive mixes for Liebrand to include on future volumes, and I hope he'll take note of the request list on his website.
Notes and nitpicks are below:
CD 1
1 Robert Palmer You're in my System (Extended Album Mix) 06:00 (very rare on CD!)
2 André Cymone - The Dance Electric 05:35
3 Chas Jankel - Glad To Know You 06:37
4 Suzi Lane - Harmony 06:59 (want the ENTIRE moroder produced album on CD, but this is a start!)
5 Chaplin Band- Madmen's Discoteque 06:30
6 Janis Ian-Fly Too High 06:51 (awesome. Didn't even know there was a 12" version of this track which has only appeared on vinyl in its SHORT version!)
7 Rah Band - Slide 06:39
8 The Real Thing-Can You Feel The Force 07:39
9 Anita Ward - Ring My Bell 08:12
10 Boys Town Gang- Cruisin' The Streets 13:14 (wow. The full length LP side)
CD 2
1 Positive Force - We Got The Funk 04:31
2 Lakeside - Fantastic Voyage 06:12
3 Cheryl Lynn - Shake It Up Tonight 05:42
4 Colonel Abrams - I'm Not Gonne Let You 06:47 (too common on CD. Space could have been used for another rarity)
5 Crown Heights Affair -You Gave Me Love 05:52
6 Rose Royce - R.R. Express 12:01
7 Jerry Knight - Overnight Sensation 06:30
8 M.F.S.B.- Love Is The Message 11:33
9 Edwin Starr - Contact 07:15
10 Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland 08:16 (nice 12" rarity on CD)
CD 3
1 The Reddings - The Awakening Pt1+2 03:32
2 Earth,Wind & Fire - fantasy (Blaze shelter dj mix) 08:57 (this is a very indulgent version, somewhat remixed and way too long)
3 Trussel - Love Injection 07:53
4 Gene Chandler - get down 08:18 (HOT to have this 12" on CD!)
5 Billy Ocean - Are You Ready 06:46 (HUH? This song barely cracked the Billboard dance charts, and there are so many other Billy songs that were bigger)
6 Dynasty - I don't wanna be a freak 07:23
7 Herbie Hancock - Tell Everybody 07:50
8 Shalamar - Right In The Socket 06:42
9 Third World - Now That We've Found Love 08:16 (wow. This version is even longer than the 12" version I have)
10 The Commodores - Brickhouse (live) 10:26 (WHY??? A live version of an already overplayed song that can be found in its full length studio version on numerous CDs??? 10 wasted minutes of CD space)
CD 4
1 Imagination - Body Talk 06:00
2 Fern Kinney - Groove Me (long version) 08:54
3 One Way with Al Hudson - You Can Do It 07:03
4 David Bowie - Let's Dance 07:39 (another waste of space. There really isn't a 12" version of this song. This is the full length album version which is easily obtainable on Bowie's CD)
5 Fox The Fox - Precious Little Diamond 07:27
6 Fun Fun-Happy Station (original 12") 07:16
7 Tavares - Heaven (Irresistable Angel Mix) 08:35 (2 minutes longer than the original version, but this is DRASTICALLY remixed. It even includes some obnoxious astronaut voice overs at the beginning)
8 Liaison Dangereuses - Los Ninos del Parque 05:01
9 Talk Talk-It's a Shame 07:01 (this is the overseas 12" version. The US mix (which I prefer) runs 6:22)
10 Faithless - Salva Mea (Epic Mix) 11:52 (oddly out of place, considering this volume doesn't include ANY other songs from the 1990s. But still a goodie)
Good Songs.......2006-06-03

Awesome . . . .......2007-06-11
a must for the Disco/House lovers. Brings back memories of U.S. Studio/The Warehouse: 206 South Jefferson, Chicago!!!
Awesome!.......2006-06-25
These songs bring back so many memories. They are all original versions and full length. There were songs that I knew but didn't know the title. I am so happy to own it.
A few good songs.......2006-05-16
There are simply too many mediocre songs in this collection. It seems to be an error in judgement on the compiler's part. They're not underground classics, either - just vaguely experimental disco songs. They often seem pedestrian, with poor structure. There's also a lot of early synth pop in here - rather mechanical German-sounding disco. When you come across a good song, like BBQ's 'On the Beat', you realise how disposable much of the rest of the material is.
The quality of the transfers is very high, there's no doubt about it. And to a certain extent it is a fun collection. But there's probably too much forgettable material here. Would it really be any great loss if we didn't have Macho's 'I'm a Man'? I haven't heard the first volume, and there seems to be more classics on that ('Get Down Saturday Night', 'Superfreak' and so on). Part of the problem may be its European origins - they often prefer inorganic sounding dance music, more urban-industrial stuff.
There's one more problem - I think. I might be wrong about this, but when the CD was mastered, the volume seems pitched a bit low. I noticed this one other time with a CD from the Netherlands - it's a bit irritating to have to turn it up. If you listen to Soul Jazz's CDs you realise how good a CD can be. Overall I'm tempted to say skip this. There are better disco and Old School collections out there - I'm looking forward to hearing Soul Jazz's "A Tom Moulton Mix."
At last.......2006-03-15
I can hardly believe that, at last, I can have this awesome 12" compilation; these are song I grew with and, most of them I could not bought them in vinyl back in the 80's. You must buy it.
Grand indeed,superb sound quality........2006-03-08
An amazing collection of tracks with blistering sound quality. My 1500 watts 8 speakers with dual 15" sub-woofers stereo multi-channel system is just kicking..my brick walls are not happy with the vibration but iam not easing the pressure.

12 INCHES OF SNOW.......2006-03-28
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD TO ANYONE WHO WAS GROWING UP IN THE LATE 1980'S EARLY 1990'S. WE ALL REMEMBER SNOW BY HIS SONG'S INFORMER AND GIRL IVE BEEN HURT. THIS CD DEFINITELY BROUGHT ME BACK TO MY TEENAGE YEARS WHICH WAS THE BEST.
Not terrible but not good either - this remains an "ok" reggae album.......2006-01-16
The only song people know by Snow (that is, *if* they even know who recorded it) is his hit single "Informer" from the early 90's. While that was a good song it clearly is nowhere near being a "classic". Unfortunately, Snow seemed to like this song SO much that he essentially made a remix of it on "Lonely Monday Morning" (it's the EXACT SAME WORDS but to a different beat and rhythm - at no point does he tell you it's a remix, either). The other funny thing about that is that "Lonely Monday Morning" happens to be the second best song on the album. If you've heard those two songs then you've essentially heard the rest of the album - more unique vocals by Snow and words that are impossible to make out (although, he IS actually singing the lyrics, but they're almost impossible to figure out if you don't have the lyrics right in front of you). Thankfully none of the songs are "bad" necessarily, but they're not good either - they're essentially just "ok". The songs tend to also sound a bit cheesy and dated which certainly doesn't help its appeal nor its rating. It's not the worst album I've ever heard, but it's not good either. Musically it's essentially a mix between reggae and hip-hop. and while it certainly sounds unique it doesn't really sound inspired either way. The fact that you can't understand any of what he's singing doesn't help the situation, either. As a whole it remains an "ok" album - I've certainly heard MUCH worse (Snow's voice helps, too, considering it's not bad). This is basically just for Snow fans or for people who absolutely love "Informer". Not recommended.
Highlights include:
"Runway"
"Informer"
"Drunken Styles"
"Girl I've Been Hurt" (sort of)
"Lonely Monday Morning"
the rest are just "ok"
Snow is GR8.......2005-06-20
People dislike SNOW because they think he is a wannabe. I think it is just jealousy. You try adapting R&B and reggae and pop all into 1 style. I think his music is ingenious. He has a good voice anyway. He is from poverty and was able to make a living doing what he loves. Don't get mad cuz you can't. I was the first in Kentucky to have 12" of snow back in 93 and still love it. Have murder love and justuss as well as the greatest hits. Haven't bought mind on the moon or two hands clapping yet but plan to. And like the other person was saying its about music not fads. I LIKE VANILLA ICE TOO!
12 inches of bullsh*t.......2005-06-13
"Snow" is a joke. First of all, he pretends to be a big black Jamacian, but he's actually pure whitebread. Snow, your photo on the cover of the album tipped us off, buddy. Plus, there aren't many black Jamacian rastamen that sing soprano. We know you ain't black.
Here's a blurb from his official site (http://www.snowontheweb.com/)...
"He [Snow] remains proud of what he considers the product of multi-cultural Toronto: Jamaican dancehall and American R&B filtered through an Irish kid who jokes that his only excuse for not "going country" is that he's yet to find a pair of cowboy boots he doesn't hate."
Uh Oh. Watch out, 'cause Snow is about to get his glock.
WHAT?!?!?.......2004-10-24
This album is one of the best albums ever. I understand that some people don't like his music and I understand that. What the thing is that everybody finds one artist, or style, or even both. When they do that, they say screw everything else. They say that Snow and Vanilla Ice are the worst ever, but I like them both(Old and new). I like ICP and Eminem. I like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Phil Collins. I like old and new. I like Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's all a fad thing to people, but if I like it, I'm gonna listen to it. Most people don't say they like Snow or Vanilla Ice because they're afraid to be mocked. I like the music for the music, not the name. I try to be a musician, but since I like so much stuff, I can't settle on one sound, but the only thing I really can do is rap. I can even sing a few of Snow's songs along with him. I got my first Snow album a few years ago, which was this one, and I've tried to collect them all since then. I only have Murder Love, Mind on the Moon, and of course this. I have relatives in Canada who could probably help me find all of the rest. Especially Two Hands Clapping because that's the next one I want. I can get Justuss really cheap online. Snow is my favorite artist ever and will always be, but I'm open to other artists too. Now, buy this album and listen to the best thing the 90's ever had, but took for granted. Thanx a lot, because now I have to get his albums imported to buy them. Peace out!

Cafe in Montreal.......2007-05-22
8 years ago...open air cafe...Montreal...sun...and this music that melted into me from their stereo system. Bought this, and the rest of Kid locos' compilations.
Mogwai.......2004-02-29
The remix of the mogwai song Tracy is enought to buy the album, one of the prettiest long songs. Listen to any with anyone you like and you will always connect it with them. The Mogwai version of Tracy doesn't come close.
A nice mix of music.......2003-08-04
Well, first of all i want to tell you that this CD it's a beat and pop chill-out (electronic of course). Here there are no funky no jazz no fusion etc. The music it's a little "old fashion style" but for sure it's of good quality. I love very much the sequence, very clever and never casual.
I suggest to listen KAT ONOMA with his LA Chambre (very sensual atmhospere) PULP with A little soul and CORNU with Youpi, 3 very different songs but they give to you the exact feeling of the CD. KID LOCO makes his job in a real personal style very far from his dj Frances collegues (CHALLE, RAVEN, POMPUGNAC ETC.)
diving into warm water.......2001-12-20
This album is still taking me far, far away and I've heard it hundreds of times. This is "elegant" music by all means that has the power of submerge you effortless into a beautiful and soft universe.
After over-listening to Air, Carboot Soul, Fila Brazilia, Massive Attack and other great down-tempo music this album felt completly unique and refreshing.
Buy it whithout a doubt and dive into warm water.
We can drive there............2001-05-27
Truly. Hills, hills and it keeps me going. There is no greater sweat song then the first. Makes me want to pant. And I do. Im alive. You will be too if you play this in hard times and smooth times. Worth every groan. I must thank Kid Loco for this CD -- he makes life easy.

Thank goodness it's on CD but what happened to the sound........2007-02-17
I have been waiting for Madleen Kane on CD for a long time, so have to say thank you for this release. However, it is less than ideal. As has been mentioned by other reviewers, the sound quality on some of the tracks is frankly shocking and spoils any enjoyment that is to be had. Also, what hasn't been commented on so far, is the fact that the tracks Forbidden love and Cheri were originally parts of a 'Suite' from the 'Cheri' album, and the decision to split them here and omit the other tracks (Fire in your heart and Secret love affair) is perverse to say the least - if it was a question of space, then removing the entirely pointless 'megamix' would have been an obvious start. Also missing from this release is Madleen's cover of 'Fever' which although showing up her vocal limitations does have one of the most beautiful orchestrations of the era.
Pass this CD on to the next generation. They should listen too !.........2005-10-21
At the age of 20, Madleen mostly mistaken as French but originally Swedish when modeling for Ford, was discovered by J.C. Freidrich owner of Boona Music productions and she became a hot singing commodity with Rough Diamond in 1978 which took off like fire not only in U.S. but across the globe. After she released Cheri in 1979, her singer career became firm. Another gold record followed with Forbidden love. She didn't want to become an object and loved music and singing so much that she even rejected to play with Jack Nicholson in Hollywood ! However Chercez Pas was an excellent club song but couldn't carry the rest of Sounds of Love album when released in 1980. Nevertheless Georgio Moroder appeared with his mixes in 1981 with "Don't wanna Lose You" and helped her album sales in Clubs but no longer in radios. Sadly, Madleen tired of the recordings faded away after the last album 1985 "Cover Girl"...This 12" compilation is a MUST buy for those who remember this beatiful lady and reminiscing late 70's and early 80's club sounds. I still have her in vinyl but I still had to buy this CD and it's already taken its place in my collection. She always makes me dance and after all, it's a pretty good recording too.
Euro Disco Queen........2004-03-25
I had first become aware of Madleen Kane in 1981 when she performed on Solid Gold doing "You Can". I had never seen her before and thought she was beautiful(I was 11 at the time) and was curious about her and the song. I bought the 45 and in the mid 90's finally found a 12" vinyl of the song. The remix on the 12" and the 1981 Billboard Top Dance Hits cd was around 5:35 and the version on this collection of hits is 6:56 with a different beginning and end parts. I love the new version. I also read a couple of books about the disco era and most were praising her music as smart and different than most disco. I think she is in the same boat as Grace Jones and Linda Clifford in that they did great work but it never really crossed over to the POP charts. The best songs are the NRG mid 80's "I'm No Angel" and "Ecsatsy" written by Ian Anthony Stephans(who did High Energy for Evelyn Thomas) and Paul Parker - a great dancer singer himself. I thought the disco records of "Rough Diamond" and "CherChez Pas " were incredible. But "Playing For Time" and of course "You Can" still shimmer after 20 some years. These were produced by Giorgio Moroder and show the influence of his work with Blondie on "Call Me"- producing a more rock/dance vibe on these classics. You can see that Madleen looks like a Bond girl- she was a supermodel in the 70's/80's but the music is what I bought this cd for and it doesn't disappoint at all. Great disco and nrg music.
Dance Music at it's Best.......2003-12-16
This is a fine cd of her singles from her various hard to find albums recorded between 1978-1985. I love all the songs especially "Rough Diamond", "You Can", "On Fire" and "I'm No Angel". Once you start playing this CD, you will exprience dancing bliss! Here are the tracklistings:
1. Rough Diamond 6:15
2. Cherchez Pas 5:49
3. On Fire 5:43
4. Ecstasy 5:58
5. I'm No Angel 6:39
6. Cheri 4:48
7. Playing for Time 7:20
8. You Can 6:56
9. Forbidden Love 5:02
10. You and I 4:12
11. Fire in My Heart 4:11
12. Megamix 7:04
underated.......2003-12-09
i purchased this disc recently and hasn't been out of my cd player. the best cuts are "rough diamond","forbidden love", "you can" and "fire in my heart" and are hard to find. three tracks are produced by giorgio morodor. the sound is a tad dubious (like from clean vinyl) on a few tracks. it was still worth the price for clean sounding 12"ers from this underated disco queen. buy it quick before it disappears.

some oddities, but plenty of full length hits too.......2005-08-05
This volume of the 3 disc series isn't ripe with many big hits, but it has enough to make it worth the purchase. All of them are full length 12" versions!!! Other volumes are titled "More More More" and "So Excited." Track times are:
1. turn the beat around (5:33)
2. happiness is just around the bend (6:19)
3. mainline (6:56)
4. don't tell me tell her (5:15)
5. behind the mask (6:30)

9. dancin' (7:04)

Its Title Says it all...Groovin' You.......2002-09-01
An excellent album, that does what it says. A signiture aspect of most disco music was the extended (12") versions of the songs. Unlike the majority of disco complications out on the market, this CD features the 12" versions of some of disco's more hard to find, yet unforgetable songs, that will take you back to when dancing was part of everyday activity. Vickie Sue Robinson kicks off the album with her most popular hit 'Turn the beat around'. Black Ivory's 'Mainline' gives a taste of the late disco, in '79. 'Behind the Mask' is another great hit that shows disco's evolution into the retro era. A disco group that cant be mistaken, The pointer sisters sing one of there greatest hits 'Automatic'. Harvey Mason, Jr. belts out his hit which the album is named after, 'Groovin' You'. Dancin' by Zane Grey & Len Ron Hanks is another one of Big 12 inche's great songs that keep you on the floor groovin all night. The album is then closed with Evelyn "Champagne" King's massive vocals on 'I Don't Know If It's Right' a true disco diva. If your looking to re-live the disco years, with the great 12" music, Groovin' You is the ultimate alblum.
This cd is good to have.......2002-04-12
Long versions from all songs. Good sound quality. A collection of rarities. Where else would one find Vicky Sue Robinson's Turn the beat around aos? Not spectacular disco, but good groovy tunes.

4. more more more (6:17)
5. to each his own (5:18)

Get your dancing shoes on!.......2000-06-11
Finally, a series that REALLY has the full length remixes! Most compilations have 2 or 3 extended versions tossed in with the rest of the radio versions. Every song on this CD is the full length club mix we heard in the discos.
With great tunes like Shame, and More, More, More this CD hits the mark.
But the BEST song on the compilation is Vicki Sue Robinsons "HOLD TIGHT". If this tune doesn't get you up and dancing, you're dead! And it times in at over 11 minutes!
If you remember these songs, order this CD before it disappears. It's a great deal.

Holla!.......2006-02-27
And to all the haters that think there are better Dj's out there...WRONG! His knowledge & experience surpass most others. There are very few who werk it like Double C does. Attend one of his gigs & you'll see what I mean.
HOLLA!
Awesome.......2005-12-09
this is probably one of my very favorite DJ set CDs I own (and I have quite a few). I listened to this album on repeat for a few days straight any didn't tire of it. It's great to listen to on my Ipod at the gym, really gets me going. Great selection of tracks, great mixing, fun and energetic. Plus theres lots of vocals, and I love to sing along and vamp it up. Go get it, you won't be disappointed.
Throw in this disc and let the party begin..........2005-09-15
Chris Cox picks a nearly flawless selection of peak hour anthems, from diva vocals to novelty, to hard progressive instrumentals. This is strictly a party disc, not for those looking for hard-to-find tracks on CD, considering there are a large number of tracks with mostly very short track times. Which also causes an issue with the title of the disc. While campy and sexy, the disc itself is more like "the 7" edits of Cox".... But even so, this one will get everyone dancing. Track times:
1. intro (:55)
2. Shiny disco balls (3:11)
3. Addicted to bass (5:08)
4. Head (6:07)
5. Strong (4:02)
6. We are all made of stars (4:39)
7. Harder better faster (4:24)
8. Open up your mind (4:39)
9. Arise (4:54)
10. Body (5:16)
11. I believe (4:38)
12. Lovely day (3:23)
13. Free your mind (4:25)
14. the sound of goodbye (6:21)
15. Safe from harm (4:57)
16. I'm so crazy (3:39)
17. Can't stop dancing (5:59)
An Irresistible Mix CD from the Former Thunderpuss DJ........2004-05-03
Chris Cox is one half of the now-defunct remixing team of Thunderpuss, and he's easily one of the best DJs specializing in highly energetic, mainstream-friendly dance music. Equally talented as a producer, remixer, and DJ, Cox can spin rings around the hilariously overrated Louie Devito. His latest mix CD, titled with tongue in cheek "12 Inches of Cox," is an insanely infectious trip through high energy disco with a few touches of glossy house. Thunderpuss' own instrumental, "Head," is a brash rush of energy so flaming, the groove will give you third degree burns. Pete Heller's sensual mix of Daft Punk's "Faster, Better, Harder, Stronger," is a fine excursion of dark twisted house, while Pete Rauhofer's mix of Narcotic Thrust's "Safe From Harm" and Chris Cox's own "I Believe" are guaranteed to fill up almost any club dancefloor. Of course, Cox couldn't resist including at least one Thunderpuss remix in this CD, so we get Inaya Day's "Can't Stop Dancin'," the disc's closing track. Pity that Cox and former partner Barry Harris decided to call it a day for Thunderpuss, for they were among the few DJs worthy of my time and money. But if you want a reminder of how good Cox is, then pick up this winning mix CD.
