Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Bonkers Volume 1 (Hixxy and Sharkey are Bonkers) was React's first foray into the realm of happy hardcore and the first volume of what has become an incredibly successful series for the label.
Inspired by hearing DJ Hixxy and MC Sharkey's early track, "Toytown," - the hardcore anthem of 1994 - React recognized the alchemy between the two and the Bonkers series was born.
Now back due to popular demand, React is releasing the album in a limited silver edition - get your copy now, before it disappears again!

Customer Reviews:
One of the best!!!.......2007-01-26
cd1: a good cd, but by Bonkers standards it didn't capture my imagination - lacked a rave atmosphere (Hard to describe in sound). It's hard to describe other than: If you are a Hixxy fan you'll love it.
cd2: THIS IS THE BEST CD IN THE ENTIRE BONKERS RANGE!!!!! IT CONJURES UP A RAVE ATMOSPHERE . YES, It's freeform hardcore; and yes: in the past Sharkey has been a bit repetitive and too Hard, this time he starts upbeat and technical and carries it all the way through to the last track. In the past his sound struggled to capture the listener. However, things have changed. This is one hell of a CD!!!
cd3: What happened to DOUGAL??? Scott Brown and Gammer are great, but a couple of the tracks are a bit ragged - should be new, hard and technical (not too repetitive). However, the majority of the tracks are great. Well worth listening to.
Not as good as past efforts, but still good.......2006-10-11
Every Bonkers CD is amazing in its own way. Scott Brown, Sharkey, and Hixxy return with some friends to create a hardcore CD that can't be matched. Joining them are Clsm, Kutski, Re-Con, and Gammer and they make their prescence known with some slamming tracks.
The CD as a whole is amazing. Mostly my love is with Hixxy and Re-Con's mix. They lay down the more melodic "cheesy" vocal hardcore. My Direction is an amazing start to the CD then it progresses to I Can Wait. Another amazing track. Close to You is one of my favorite on the comp. Its great upbeat sound and old school feel hardcore. Just delicious.
Sharkey and Clsm featuring Kutski is a good mix. Im not much a fan of Freeform hardcore. But theres some highlights. Tranzport and Drive Away are pretty good and gives me hope for liking some Freeform although it looks like Sharkey went more toward the vocal type of hardcore on this mix. Freeform usually less vocals with more progression.
Now to Scott Brown and Gammers mix. Kinda disappointed on this one. I usually love Scott Browns mixes because they have a good mix of high energy hardcore with some cheese mixed in, then a turn to the dark side. This time though the mix was pretty High NRG then a small turn to dark hardcore. Kind of annoying tracks with a really annoying end song. This one I was hoping to get my gabber fix but I guess I will have to pick up this years Gabber & Hardcore to fill that void. I didn't buy it for Gabber so its all good.
All in all I would say grab this one. I think the best was XI but this one gives you the nu school hardcore fix and done by the best dj's in the game!

Customer Reviews:
A Good Album.......2006-10-05
Not 13, Really 19, havent bought anything off here, so cant leave a review under my name. Bonkers 15 was the 1st Bonkers album to showcase all 4 cds being mixed in a back-2-back style (Bonkers 12 only had 1 cd being mixed in a Back-2-Back style).
Hixxy & Re-Con: We get a 180 BPM Happy Hardcore frenzy! The mix starts off great! Then sorda lets down around the middle, and picks back up at the end.
Sharkey & Marc Smith: A mixture of Freeform/Trancecore, and suprisingly, Happy Hardcore!
Scott Brown & Neophyte: This mix is for all you Gabber heads. Starts off slow, ends fast!
Dougal & Gammer: Happy Hardcore! Not just your new Happy Hardcore, but the cheesey good kind! The best track on here to me was "My Star" (Brisk & Vegabond Remix). The last 2 songs on the mix, we get some boardeline Gabber-Trancecore (I guess you could call it Gabber, just with more melody).
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is becuase of the Gabber mix and the let down in Hixxy & Re-Con's mix. Too much "sped-up trance songs".

The hugely successful Bonkers series reaches its 12th release with Bonkers 12 - The Dirty Dozen and for the first time ever React is bringing you the album in a 4-CD box set.
Bonkers 12 is brought to you by 5 of the biggest names in UK hardcore, with the series favorites Hixxy and Sharkey, who are joined by the hard hitting talent of Scott Brown and the dynamic DJ/production duo of Mark Breeze & Darren Styles. Together they deliver over 60 tracks of cutting edge hardcore in 5 hours of musical mayhem spread over 4 CDs - where a vast majority of the tracks are exclusive to Bonkers 12, including several remixes and cover versions of massive tracks produced just for this album.
Original Bonkers innovator Hixxy gets things started with the kind of rip-roaring mix that's made him a hardcore favorite over the years, while Sharkey showcases some of the freshest new production talent from around the globe, including materials from the Nu Energy label collective, and a special guest appearance from KLF vocalist Bello D. Scott Brown turns up the heat in a blistering mix of UK hardcore fused with Dutch nu-skool gabba, followed by Breeze & Styles wrapping things up in a back-to-back DJ mix that features chart toppers Ultrabeat under their Clear Vu guise and anthems from the Nukleuz, Raverbaby and All Around The World labels.
With over 60 tracks from the 5 biggest UK hardcore favorites in a 4-CD box set, The Dirty Dozen proves to be one of the most anticipated hardcore compilations of the year!
Customer Reviews:
This is a completely Bonkers album........2005-08-11
CD1 HIXXY: Not the best mix of this comp. A fair few rockin tunes such as 'Fallen Angel' 'You're my Angel' 'Tantric' 'C.O.N' 'Whole' and 'Always'. Hixxy has'nt always been that good in my opinion but he still remains one worth checking out.
CD2 SHARKEY: Sharkey does it again with his uncompromising bunch of freeform/hardcore. No-one rocks it like Sharkey boy. The whole mix is top quality with a desire to listen to it over and over again. It seems Sharkey is'nt going to soften up in the near future if he keeps on banging it like he always has done. I hope one day I can be the next Sharkey, without over shadowing him of course..
CD3 SCOTT BROWN: Scott Brown serves up a tasty helping of feel good hardcore and some crunchy seconds with his assault of nu-style gabba. 'This one's for all of us' is an absolute banger, coupled with a seamless transition into 'Torn'. 'Boomstick' is a nice tune with almost hardstyle cuts. 'Alles Kapot' ends things nicely with some nice beats and just hard as nails. I can't give you a review of the Breeze and Styles mix as I don't actually have a copy of the mix as I downloaded the other 3 as mp3's and converted them 3 only onto disc. I hope to get the remaining Bonkers releases to complete my collection.
A Whole Lotta Bang for your Buck!.......2004-06-25
Priced at about $25, this compilation is a must have for any hardcore lover. If you are a fan of the recent Bonkers series, then this 4 Disc set is a great addition to your collection.
In order of Preference:
CD4: This is Breeze & Styles first installment in the Bonkers series, and in my humble opinion, their CD beats the other three hands down. It's a mix of very happy, upbeat tracecore with alot of exclusives on it. Every song on the CD kicks like happy hardcore should: making you feel good when you listen to it!
CD3: Scott Brown's Mix is very, very good, if you enjoy the dark side of hardcore. The Gabber on the end the CD is very good as well. Many people consider Scott Brown the most talented of hardcore producers; he is sure up there!
CD2: Sharkey's Mix is very good, starting off with a great track "Power in the Light". Sharkey's mixes are always the fastest in the series. This CD of 303-induced freeform hardcore is no exception.
CD1: Hixxy's mix is the worst of the set. But it's OK, because the Breeze & Styles mix is so good, you can overlook Hixxy's recent flop.
If you like this compiliation: give Bonkers 9 a listen. It has Hixxy, Sharkey and Scott Brown all at their best.
Bonkers 12: The Dirty Dozen.......2004-05-18
The 12th installment of the Bonkers series is better than ever!
Hixxy's Mix: This mix was good, but not up to the standard of his previous mixes. There are a number of good tunes in here (Take a Look, You're My Angel, Fallen Angel, Whole, C.O.N.), but since Breeze & Styles and Hixxy have basically the same trancey style, it seems like the quality songs in this style are spread a bit too thin across the two of them.
Sharkey's Mix: Surprisingly good. I haven't liked Sharkey's freeform style in the past, but this time his mix showcases a number of really great tracks (Can't Compete, New Zealand Story, Know the Score, Hugger Mugger, Funky Technician). And of course, fans of Sharkey's older mixes will definitely love this one.
Scott Brown's Mix: Jaw-dropping. Absolutely breathtaking. Songs like This Is How We Do It, All About You, This Is My Bass, and Boomstick (all four of which rank as some of my favorite hardcore songs ever) highlight the incredible quality in Scott Brown's music. There isn't a single track on this CD that I would consider bad. The Gabber tracks at the end of the mix are just incredible. This CD alone is worth the whole price of the set and then some.
Breeze & Styles: A lot of people don't seem to like this CD, but I quite like it. There are a number of songs that stand out from the crowd (Feel The Power, 3000 Cycles, Flow, Take Your Time). Granted, many of the songs sound very similar to one another, but there's enough variation to keep it interesting.
Aside from a few nitpicks, this is a CD set that should in every Hardcore fan's collection. It's a wonderful showcase of the various flavors of hardcore; there's something here for everyone.

One of my Fav Bonker's Mixes.......2005-05-12
This box set was my first Bonker's set. I still listen to the mixes every now and then, especially Hixxy's mix. =D Power of Love has ALWAYS been a favorite. And then you have the anthem's like Cloudy Daze and Starry Night. It's a great Mix all around. If you're new to happycore, this is a good starter kit, but I definitely suggest getting into the Hardcore scene and hearing some of the better stuff.

Not The Best.......2006-10-04
not 13, really 19. Here we are, at Bonkers 14! (Well, by this review, there are already up to Bonkers 16). Bonkers 14 didnt really cut it for me. All the mixes were slow (except for Scott Brown ending with his gabber).
Hixxy's mix: We get the Raverbaby tunes! Horray for trance influenced songs! A lot of the songs were just too dark...or nothing really happened to the energy in the songs. We also get a new remix of "Set You Free". "Fly With You 2005" is a pretty good song. My fav. track off this mix would have to be "Crazy Love (Breeze & Styles Mix)"
Sharkey's Mix: Nothing much to say but if you like Freeform/Trancecore, then you will enjoy this mix.
Scott Brown's Mix: Starts out slow, ends fast with the Gabber. We start out with some Happy Hardcore tunes. The best track to me is "Call My Name". We also have a short mix of "Just Walk Away", but it's a mice vocally track.
Dougal's Mix: Here we go! Some decent Happy Hardcore music! We get a new mix of "Party Time" and one of the best Hardcore producers returns with his new track, along with Hattrixx, DJ VIBES!!!! "I Know". Dougal finishes off his track with a really hard, boarderline Gabber track by Gammer.
Also, the cover...some ppl dont know anything about the Bonkers albums! Bonkers 10 was X-Men themes, Bonkers 11 was the Matrix themed, Bonkers 12 was the "Dirty Dozen" themed, Bonkers 13 was Halloween themed, so Bonkers 14 got the Star Wars Episode 3 theme since it came out in the same time as the movie!
HATER!.......2006-03-07
Good lord... this was the best happycore i've heard in YEARS. all four cds rocked in its own awesome way. cd #3 in your car w/ the system up is unbelievable, bumpin in traffic on the 101 in LA on a saturday nite. don't believe what the hater says and buy this! u won't be sorry. :o)
Junk for junkies. How about that?.......2005-09-12
Ah yes, more mindless, God-awful drivel for low-lives to pop pills to. Honestly, have you ever HEARD any of this stuff? Terrible, terrible, terrible.
The fact they have cartoon drawings of Star Wars goes some way to explain the faceless unoriginality of it all. Music without a soul or purpose, programmed by coke-snorters and listened to by ecstasy popping drones.
The Curmudgeon is not a snob, but, really though - I am BETTER than the people that listen to this music. End of story. Stay on the right side of evolution and avoid at all costs.
