LOVE IT!!.......2004-12-16

I love this cd! Over the Hills and Far Away is one of the best songs ever! I keep on listening to it a million times over and I still love it. 10th Man Down is awesome is well! Now, you're probably wondering why I only gave it a four then. If you took out the remake of Astral Romance and Beauty and the Beast, I would give it a five. In fact,if Tuomas had been singing, I would give it a five. I do not like Tony's voice at all. Although some people may find Tuomas' voice to be annoying, he can put emotion into his voice. Tony doesn't. He sings because he has to, with no emotion. At least, that's how I feel.

Okay...well when I first saw this, I thought, "I am NOT paying that much for a Nightwish CD, with not that many original songs on it" Boy am I glad I did though!

First of all OTHAFA is one of their best songs EVER. I have played that track a million times (literally) and never get sick of it. If you ask any NW fan, they'll probably say this song is in their top 5 of all time. So it's worth buying it alone.

Secondly, 10th man down is ALSO one of their best songs ever. Very heavy with a great breakdown at the end.

Thridly, the 3rd one is a slow one, and THAT is one of their best slow ones ever. I normally skip over NW's slow stuff, but not this one, it's so romantic and simple gorgeous.

Fourth, the remake of Astral Romance is MUCH MUCH better than the original. After listening to this one, you'll never really want to hear the other again.

So 4 AMAZING songs is why you need to buy this disc. The live stuff? Eh...good for sure, but that's not why I love this disc. They are extras I listen to if I don't want to take out the CD.

But yes...if you like NW, BUY this CD now, and when you are 2 minutes into the first song, you'll be grining from ear to ear because OTHAFA is romantic beyond belief and totally singalongable. In concert, the whole crowd would sing the chorus and I got chills....

No...I'm not someone who gives out 5 star reviews a lot. No, I'm not a kid who gives 5 stars to anything I like. NW are amazing though...

A must have for Nightwish fans.......2004-10-03

I love Nightwish. I have been a fan since I first bought "Wishmaster", my first album by the Finnish metal band. I was completely blown away by the combination of Tarja's operatic voice with power metal. I was addicted right away. That was three years ago, almost four I think. I finally got the opportunity to see the band perform live in late August. One of the highlights for me was their cover of Gary Moore's "Over the Hills and Far Away". The song was very catchy yet aggressive. Tarja sounded absolutely amazing during the song. Unfortunately the album with that song is only available as an import. After doing some comparison shopping, I finally bought the cd "Over the Hills and Far Away". Now I can listen to the song as often as I want to. The other previously unreleased songs "10th Man Down" and "Away" were awesome. Like any of the band's ballads, "Away" simply took my breathe away. The production on these previously unreleased tracks is very in your face and has a big sound. I also enjoyed listening to the live tracks. It brought back memories of when I saw my favorite metal band in concert. I really dug the 2001 remake of "Astral Romance" from the band's first album. I thought this remake was vastly superior. I dug the heavy version of "Sleepwalker" too. I swear Nightwish is getting better and better with every album they put out. I can hear the sheer heaviness that I hear on their new album "Once" on "Over the Hills and Far Away". For diehard Nightwish fans, this is an album worth owning.

Wow. Only way to describe Nightwish........2004-08-15

Wow. I love this album, but for one specific reason. The song "10th Man Down". This is the first Nightwish song I have ever heard, and it was because of an Anime Music Video someone made with this song and Gundam. I love this song so much, it is on my top 10 best songs ever. I just can't get over it. I'm listening to it as I write this review, and I must say if you only buy 1 cd this year, make it this JUST so you can hear 10th Man Down. I love Nightwish, and I'm becoming quite a fan! An excellent purchase, buy it!!!!

HUGE FAN!.......2004-07-21

This is their best CD where the efforts and experiences of the band have culminated in a strong and beautiful masterpiece. It is a definite must for symphonic metal fans.
