This bargain collection of showtunes is highlighted by the composition of Kurt Weill and the uniquely rolling tongue of Colette Lyons. I have a complaint about this compilation. It includes "Ol' Man River", but it excludes Al Jolson's rendition of "Ol' Man River." Otherwise, this collection gives you ample bang for your buck.

It appears that I am frequently taking up the mantle of promoting bands and their respective albums which never were heard in order to forcefully create a deservedly expanded level of appreciation and overall fan base. With so much regurgitated pablum currently available, bands such as UFO, Status Quo and Golden Earring have already received extensive reviews from me for specific masterpieces which these bands have created without ever finding a true audience. Add Stretch to this group as well. Elmer Gantry's rocking voice, a British version of Bob Seger, coupled with "Kirby's" innovative yet familiar power chords and tasty licks, reach a level of toe-tapping, finger-snapping sing-a-long composing the likes of which are simply not seen any more. Try not to sing along or play air-guitar to such gems entitled "That's The Way the Wind Blows" or "Fixin' To Die." PLEASE TRUST ME! Yeah, it's an import, yeah it's a tad expensive, but it is absolutely unequivocally worth it! While you're at it, pick up the album LIFEBLOOD too, as it contains quite possibly the single greatest blues song ever written, "Right Or Wrong." Boastful statements, assuredly, but remember: no backtalkin' or criticism allowed until you've tried it.
