Tom Stephan was born and brought up in upstate New York. After moving to London ten years ago to study film, he wanted to recapture the vibe created by Junior Vasquez during his clubbing days at NY's original Sound Factory. He released "The Revolution" under the Superchumbo moniker last year, prompting a flood of remix offers, including Missy Elliot, Kylie Minogue, Basement Jaxx and Yoko Ono.

But don't think Tom's become a slave to the remix. Hot on its heels comes the Superchumbo artist album, due for release in September on Twisted.

The defining high of djing for Tom remains playing live. Weekends at Manchester's Tribal Sessions or his own London nights, Roach at Turnmills and Tank at certifiable gay club Crash give him the opportunity to play up to five hours of his inimitable brand of deep, dark, twisted house and tribal funky beats for his legions of rabid fans known as ‘Leadheads' (Superchumbo means "super-leaded" in Portugese).

A plethora of world renowned producers crop up on These Beats Are… nite:life 018. You'll find work from Carl Craig (with edits by Laurent Garnier), Peace Division, Carl Cox, Eddie Amador, Harry ‘Choo Choo' Romero and Tom Stephan himself (as Superchumbo). Not a bad showing from Mr. Stephan. There are a few standout tracks that makes a purchase worth the money. If I could do it over again I would buy this cd. *grin*

        While, "Puttin the Ass in Class" is a bit better than "Donkey Child Pt. 2" this album still rocks! I would reccomend it to any metalhead or rocker. Their sound is much like Dope, though their lyrics are quite origional! Bottom line: they ROCK!
        And don't fall for this $40 for a CD. Just go to Cdbaby.com and buy it there for 7.99 plus s&h.
