Customer Reviews:
absolutely breathtaking.......2001-09-19
The night my fiance and I fell in love we were listening to this cd set, so naturally it has special meaning to me. It is absolutely beautiful-both cds. It's really deep, intense, smooth, rhythmic trance. I have been looking for this cd for a year and a half. I'm so happy I finally found it here!
Renaissance's diverse flavorful beats amaze me.......2000-09-07
If you like smooth, classy, styley beats then the sound of Renaissance is for you. All Renaissance cds have their own feel and always ( except for the coming to America album ) feature two, to three completely different DJs. This CD is one of the more impressive ones. Dave Seaman Starts out the first disk with a tribal progressive house sound, that smoothly glides it's way into a progressive remix by Garbage that winds it way into track 9 ( I forgot the name! whoops. ) which maticulusly blends into a choice drum and bass track, and then closes out with an uplifting heartfilled track by Lamb.
Then Robert Miles comes on. I had heard Robert Miles before this album and expected his set to be a completely 'fluffy' dream trance voyage, but is instead some of the best psy trance I've ever heard. He starts out with a touch of melody that tears it's way into Nick Warren's Way Out West and goes from there with some of the most creative in your face psy trance I've ever heard making this album a must have for anyone who appriciates a good progressive house set with a screaming psy trance close out.
three hours of good dance music.......2000-05-18
Considering that this compilation contains three CDs, the price, in reality, is not that bad. All in all, I think some people here are a bit too harsh on this compilation. CD1 is a pleasant mix of what is essentially remixed disco tunes (at least that is what they sound like to me). Almost every song follows the same outline: cliched lyrics, female vocal, soul and disco sounds, relentless beat. As dated and simple as all that sounds, it is fun to dance to. The other two Cds get a bit more serious. Dave Seaman rules, as always. The first two opening tracks on his CD are nothing special but they are very short and serve simply as an introduction for what is to come. As usual, Seaman's selections are good, although I think that his Renaissance Awakening CD is considerably better. BT's mix-and this is where I probably differ with most of the reviewers here-is perhaps the best of the three. Except track 10, all the tracks are good. Even the couple of songs that are mediocre by themeselves work well as part of the mix. Very enjoyable compilation. Also, there seems to be some confusion on this page because some reviews are about the London edition with Dave Seaman and Robert Miles.
Good, if you like a little variety.......1999-12-08
This was the first CD I got from Rennaissance, being attracted to the BT mixed CD. Morales's mix is good house with some soul overtones in the beginning, not bad if you're into house. I love the way the Seaman CD has the good base of trance, but then incorparates 2 great songs by Howie B. and DJ shadow at the end, it's a nice treat to hear the bridge from trance to Shadow's unique hip-hop. The BT disc, which was actually mixed on ProTools and not a turntable, has some low points but overall it's not bad. The overall vibe is prog trance but has a little variation. I love the version of Godspeed that ends the compillation.
I have too many mixes to compare to this, other than Sasha, but I'd say it's worth 30 bucks if you can tolerate old-fashioned house and a few other influences next to your trance. If not, buy Oakie or a Sasha mix.
Decent but below standard for Renaissance.......1999-03-04
Renaissance has a stunning track record, and prides itself on cutting-edge tracks. That's commendible, even when it doesn't work.
This 3 CD set is an import and thus very expensive. Before you buy, check out the other Renaissance Worldwide releases, the London mix and Volume One. Both are far superior in consistancy and mixing. The Singapore set isn't bad, but not really worth the price.
Disc One, David Morales, is very housy and not really my taste. Some of the songs kick in the booty, but I've never listened to this CD the whole way through...too many wailing women, too 'cheesy'.
Disc Two by Dave Seamen is very good, and a bit more esoteric than his London mix. The last third of the CD really opens up, espicially the Garbage remix.
Disc Three by BT is OK, but has its faults: he extends some of these songs too long without variety, and on other songs he 'layers' the sound a little too thick, marring great tunes like 'Bad Girl.' This CD ends very strong.
Better than most 'techno' released in the US, but not on a par with other releases on this label. Kudos for experimentation, though.

Great Musical Document.......2004-12-08
3 cds, every cd presenting the work of different DJs, in this case, David Morales: king of House, Dave Seaman: Great progressive house exponent, BT: ... Not exactly a DJ, but he explains what he did, why he did it and most important: The songs he is presenting have a meaning even in the order presented. Let's take for granted that this 3 cd album is 7 years old, and represents very well a moment in house music. My favorite cd is the David Morales set, if you are looking for house this is a masterpiece by the great Morales. Don't miss it.

Wasn't sure what to expect........2005-02-23
Hey everyone! I picked up my first copy of this cd at a pawn shop for a dollar, what a deal. I wasn't sure what to expect as i put it into the cd player. When it came on i know i loved it. It is all mixes and house/techno type music. I really enjoy listening to it, it is relaxaing and yet energizing at the same time. This is a really great cd to own. Especially if you love club/house music.
