About the Artist
Originating from the Washington DC area, Specimen 37 has been making music for nearly a decade...

Although some of the names and faces have changed, the ideals and unique style of music have not. Starting out as Substance P, gEE-rOj moved the band from Richmond, VA to Boston, MA to join up with longtime friend Empathy.

Upon discovering that another band in L.A. was using the name Substance P, they changed the name to Specimen 37, and released their debut album under this name, Adverse Reaction.

Specimen 37 is an immersive aural experience - blending elements of electronica, modern, classic, and psychedelic rock into a unique sound.

Their latest CD, Adverse Reaction, is a chronicle of the mind of Specimen 37.

Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open for more from this band...

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Anything but an Adverse Reaction.......2003-08-01

Take a generous dollop of Pink Floyd, add some Porcupine Tree, a few pinches of Ozric Tentacles, a spoonfull of Quarkspace, a few drops of Sky Cries Mary, and a good dose of quality 80's New Wave sensibility, and you have Specimen 37. There are other influences as well, but that should give you the general idea.

This is a great CD, I didn't rate it 5 stars only for the fact I've listened to it but a few times and want to be sure before awarding the coveted 5th star. This is a great album and I'd recommend it to anyone who like the above groups, space rock, prog rock, or just good, adventurous music. The instrumentation is great and the lyrics thoughtful and interesting. The male and femal vocals provide a nice balance throughout.

Do yourself a favor and give this upcoming indy group a listen. You won't regret it.

* A really worthless CD, don't waste your time.
** A CD that has some good stuff, but some major defects. Don't bother unless completeing a collection.

*** An OK CD that will please fans of the artist in question but may not convert new listeners.
**** An excellent CD that represents the best work of the artist in question and can be bought with confidence.
***** An absolute classic that is the best, or among the best, of its genre. Your collection should start here.
