Glasgow Underground) When it comes to genuine deep-ass house jams, these New York-bred fellas have it down to a sonic science. They're what we call lifers — heads so in love with the music that it's more a way of life than a way to make a living. Never ones to follow the current micro-trends in the house scene, they've always come with soulful and heartfelt productions that are gimmick-free and often timeless. This, their fourth full-length outing, is no exception. The 13 tracks here all sound ready to hit the dance floor. "Jam On" flirts with a swing rhythm, while "Glasgow Spirit" pays tribute to the European house capital with a spacious, building groove and slight tension. An element of funk permeates everything they do, with emotive organs and breathy horns a regular garnish. With a touch of disco heat that the ladies just love, Mateo & Matos know how to start a fire.
