Customer Reviews:
Definitely helps me.......2007-03-27
I have had this for almost a month now, and put it on every night. The CD is 60 minutes long, and I'm usually out well before it is finished. So far I have not had the need to put it on repeat and play all night. I can only think of one time when I had to repeat the disk and I was particularly restless and couldn't get to sleep. Try it.
Really Works.......2006-09-02
This CD is amazing. I use headphones at night and listen to this CD. As my thoughts veer toward what a stressful day tomorrow might be, the music seems to invade those thoughts, and bring me back to relaxation, and I quickly drift off to sleep. I awaken only long enough to take my headphones off after it has stopped playing, and go right back to peaceful slumber. It is the best CD I have ever used!
It really works!.......2006-08-30
I've had this CD for close to 2 years now. My wife and I listen to it every night (on repeat all night) and really miss it when we are travelling or forget to start the CD before going to bed.
What we've really noticed is, while it does help you sleep if you are having a bit of insomnia, where it really shines is the deepness or quality of sleep. When we sleep without it, it is as if we had been out sleeping on the hard ground. We got a good night's sleep, but just not deep, quality sleep.
It is hard to describe (wish they had put a sound clip or two up) but there is no melody or beat; the music slips into the background and you are completely unaware of it again until you awaken - you don't dream about the music itself.
We tried a different CD the other night and it just isn't the same.
Blissful Sleep.......2006-02-24
My husband got this for me to help me sleep. I have always had trouble falling asleep and staying there. I put this in my CD playing alarm clock and set the timer for its maximum on 90 minutes and make sure the disk repeats. I drift off and now will sleep peacefully all night long. I am looking forward to finding the other three disks to help with relaxation, concentration, and creativity.
Feeling like I'm at the spa..........2006-01-02
The mellow music reminds me of the relaxing tones played in spas. Takes me off to dreamland every night.

Album Description
"Field Rexx is an earnest crack at bluegrass, country, and folk that's young and brazen enough to incorporate elements from multiple genres ... It simply (and successfully) aims a backporch countryfolk album for left-of-the-dial tastes." -- Pitchfork [7.0] A classic DIY release, Field Rexx was made in the sweltering summer of 2004 with no budget amidst the hiss of flies and tape. "Recorded," according to the liner notes, "at the carny shack, fer shook n timsel on Duke's shoot-o-matic for tisks & soda & that ol' broke 4-track what 3-fingrd mike poured old English on and lit on fire," Rexx's warped eclectic pop Americana proves that great songs and performances can transcend squalor and bad album art. Features archival material of the original Trapper, James Earley, performing snippets of traditional hillbilly tunes.

Keep up the good work Julio!.......2000-05-25
This CD is about to blow up. However if not by other viewers, then for sure by me. I can say that I was the privileged one I viewed the CD before it hit the market and the streets. I had personal experiences with those songs. I am FEByrds' #1 fan. The music is great! If you like Tu Pac you'll love the Byrdman. His vocals are to the extreme very strong. If you understand music then you'll understand him. You would deffinately have to listen to the music. There is a meaning to his every word. Rock Bottom Trademark reminds me of my family. The Bydman expresses how he struggles to get his family out of proverty. The song Down South Style, is one of my personal favorites. I just love to dance to this one. The Byrdman also stresses how he refuses to be poor and if you're with him while he's trying to come up then you could ride, other wise you could roll the hell on. Victim of Circumstance I believe is his second favorite. He once again stress how the system is so unfair and how black people can't get a decent job because our skin isn't pink which means he's stuck in a situation and has to do wrong to survive. And last but not the least, my # 1 favorite. Work That Body is another one that I just simply love to dance too! Job well done Freddrick!
If you like Tu Poc, listen to this.......1999-11-30
Byrdman has some real musical hooks, and strong vocal delivery. Worth checkin out.

You Will Go To The Moon.......2006-05-23
I worked in Northern New Hampshire with a transplanted Canadian who was really fond of these guys. When I asked her why she liked them so much, she could only say, "Because they're so Canadian!."
I think she's absolutely right. If you buy this album, you'll be charmed by the band's relentless charm and optimism, despite their generally unsentimental approach.
By far, my favorite cut is "You Will Go To The Moon." This song captures so much self-assurance and technological optimism. Gotta love it...
I know what moxy is, by the way, from the late 1950s. But Fruvous...
Go to the moon-and love it........2005-02-07
After discovering Fruvous in 2004, I had already missed all their live shows, and all their albums had come out. I first heard them on "Bargainville," then "b," and I loved Fruvous instantly. Their incredible vocal, lyrical, and instrumental talents make almost every song they ever recorded amazing. After listening to 'ville and b, I was content for awhile, because I didn't realize they even had any other albums released. Boy, was I happily suprised. Next I purchased "Live Noise" -the essential album for anyone who has never seen a live fruvous show (including myself)- and was even more amazed with their improv and hilarious between song banter. A few days ago, i got "You Will Go To The Moon." I love it. I think it is one of their best albums, with a mix of satire, silliness, and bittersweet melodies-almost everything that makes Moxy Fruvous so incredibly wonderful and unique. It starts out with "Michgan Militia." This is a song you will have in your head all day, and will captivate you from the amazing inroductory riff. Next is "Get in the Car," a fun romp. Skipping down to "Sahara," you hear a middle-eastern influenced melody and captivating lyrics, sung by MIke Ford. After Sahara is "Lee." This is quite possibly one of my favorite Fruvous songs. It has a hauntingly beautiful melody, with a slow, lyrical mood that is incredible. Dave Matheson is amazing on lead vocals, and brings emotion to this track. "No No Raja" is another middle-eastern influenced track, with Jian on lead, with a great melody. "The Incredible Medicine Show" is a song about plastic surgery, in a nutshell. But the vocals are really blended and make it enjoyable, and fun if you enjoy that sort of Fruvous. "Your New Boyfriend" is just funny. Right-wingers may not enjoy it, for a reason that is apparent in the lyrics "your new boyfriend's a bit...of a right wing @&$!" But other than that, it is hilarious, if the lyrics in the chorus don't bother you. It is also a bit Beatles-esque. "Boo Time" isn't really a purposeful song...but the beat is infectious, making it another of my favorites from this album. The bass drum and the saxaphone (played by Dave) give it a fuller sound than the version I heard on "Live Noise." "Love Set Fire" is a song that puts me right on the fence. The lyrics are good, and the melody is good, but it is sort of slow and stark. The title track, "You Will Go To the Moon," is really good. Some people don't like it, but the vocals and harmonies make it a favorite of mine, and a great way to round out a wonderful CD. Fruheads will love it, and it is also a wonderful introductory album for people who want a taste of the many sides of Moxy Fruvous.
in response to Michael B Baer.......2004-03-19
I think your review says more about the reviewer than the product. Although you are quite right that Michigan Militia refers to an American phenomenon, the other songs you mention do NOT. Perhaps you think all conservatives are American (Your New Boyfriend)? Or only we get plastic surgery (Incredible Medicine Show)? I have to admit that Canadians aren't going to the moon on their own any time soon. However, the song (You Will Go To The Moon) is still not a specific critique of American lunar landings, but the general (and international) phenomenon of exploiting space, and the pointless pursuit of Progress for its own sake. Imperialism, you say? Not once did they mention conquest or colonies, so you are misusing that term.
As for the forementioned Michigan Militia, did you know that there actually IS a Michigan Militia? They are one of the most prominent right-wing militias in the 'States. Not only that, but being in Michigan they are proximate to Canada, so no doubt the Canadians may be more aware of them than they are of other such groups. Now this critique is squarely aimed at Americans, but I hesitate to call it 'anti-American'; not all criticisms of America reflect anti-Americanism, whether issued by natives or foreigners. Personally, I am not a fan of these groups, so at least they are not part of MY America.
Nevertheless, confusing those other songs for anti-American rhetoric demonstrates an embarrassing cultural egocentricity on YOUR part (I'm not going after America, just you).
That being said, this is an excellent album. We already know that Moxy Fruvuous are masters of vocal harmony and catchy songs, and their lyrics alternate between the overtly political and purely whimsical. However, on this album they tackle a wide variety of musical styles, including Indian and Arabian music (No No Raja for the former, the standout Sahara for the latter). I bought this album not long after it came out, and it still gets spins in my player (or rather has a place on my winamp playlists).
Some people won't be able to enjoy this music. If you're conservative, it is understandable that you will find the politics annoying and disagreeable. Some people will be turned off by the whimsical style of Moxy Fruvuous, especially the kids who can't enjoy a song unless someone gets lyrically shot or ass-raped, or the eternal angst of suburban youth finds its voice. However, if you like straight-up melodies, endeniable hooks and artists who don't take themselves too seriously, this is the stuff.
Good to The Last Drop.......2001-12-25
YWGGTM, I must admit, is my favorite früvous album - and I own them all! For those of you who have not yet heard Früvous, you don't know what you're missing... for those of you who have, you know their incredible range of style. From the upbeat - ("King of Spain", My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors) to the beautifully bittersweet ("Fly", "Sad Girl"), and of course the witty political commentaries (The Greatest Man in America, The Ballad of Cedric Früvous and many more!) Früvous combines musical genius with engaging, clever lyrics... who could ask for more?
This album combines the best of it all. From the very first note (the opening riff of Michigan Militia is unforgettable) to the exotic sounds of "Sahara" and "No No Raja", the haunting melody and sweet vocals of "Lee", the beatles-esque "Get in The Car" and "Your New Boyfriend" (beatles with a kick, I might add) every song on You Will Go To The Moon is a listening experience and well worth every minute!
Another Excellent Moxy Früvous CD!.......2001-06-02
I first heard of Moxy at a dance where they played King of Spain and The Drinking Song. Mesmerized by these 2 excellent songs, I ran out and got Bargainville (Moxy's Best) and later purchased Live Noise.
Well...when I saw this CD for 5 bucks in a pawn shop, I had to get it. Not as good as Bargainville but better than Thornhill. Yes, it is pretty scathing to the US but come on! If you cant laugh at your country, who can you laugh at? Another great CD.
Now if only Moxy Früvous would come to Vancouver...

Sleep...finally.......2006-05-02
I haven't slept through the night in over 3 years, despite trying all types of herbs, sleep medicines, bedroom changes, etc. This CD has helped more than anything. I listen to it just before crawling into bed and, although I don't yet sleep through the night, my sleep is much improved. The music is quality and doesn't grow tiresome after repeated use...I actually really enjoy it!

Heavenly to listen to!.......2004-05-25
If you're looking for a CD to relax to, or to set a romantic mood, or rock a little one to sleep, this is the one. I was rocking my baby to sleep at a friend's home when she put this on, and he quickly fell fast asleep to the light, beautiful, flowing sounds of harpist Erica Goodman within moments. You don't have to be a fan of the harp to enjoy this music, as the varied composers provide the variety. This is a collection of some the very best possible selections of classical music. It floats lightly through the room and just makes you want to close your eyes, relax, and drink in every sweet note.
