About the Artist
saxophones:flutes:clarinets Jay Rodriguez has been an integral part of the music community for the past couple decades and has performed or recorded with a diverse list of talent, all of whom represent the best in their respective genres. Improvising with Miles, rocking with Widespread Panic, grooving with Prince or jamming with MMW, Jay is on the scene performing over 200 gigs a year. Jay is also the musical director and a founding member of the NYC phenomenon Groove Collective. With two Grammy nominations for best jazz solo performance, KUFALA is proud to be releasing live performances from one of New York's most prolific jazz artists.
Product Description
Jay Rodriguez, founding sax soldier of the Groove Collective, introduced his funky soulful solo side at a cold NY night at Fez. Taking the classic B-3 organ format to new places, Jay and Co. meander from Herbie Mann influenced flute funk to Maceo Parker-esque soul and ending this two-hour long set with the theme to Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...now, that's imagination. If you weren't there, don't miss out on the debut of Jay Rodriguez & Co featuring Marco Benevento on B-3 and Joe Russo on Drums.
