Customer Reviews:
my niece loved it!.......2007-06-28
Bought as a gift for my 4-year old niece for her birthday, this CD stays in my car for her use when I'm driving. She loves it and asks for individual princesses and we sing along. I don't know how many times we've listened to it already (4 or 5, I imagine), but I anticipate many more. It's a heck of a lot easier than trying to remember the words on my own. :)
A Perfect Princess CD.......2007-03-30
I want to start off by saying that if you're looking to buy only one Disney Princess CD, this is the one to get. This CD contains 12 tracks featuring 7 princesses (at the time that this CD was made, Mulan did not yet exist, in fact, the Disney Princess line itself did not exist). Unlike many other Disney Princess CDs, this one contains a *complete* collection of princess songs. That means that all the songs that any Princess actually sings is on this CD. No, not every song from every Princess movie is on here, but I wouldn't expect them to be, nor do I think that they'd even fit onto this CD. Something that's nice about this CD compared to some of the other Disney Princess CDs is that there is no subversive advertising. That means no mediocre songs from Cinderella V or the Little Mermaid X are on it. There aren't even any songs sung by non-Princesses, all the songs that are sung partly by others are at least partially sung by a Princess as well. One of the most interesting things about the album, in my opinion, is that it contains 'Home' by Susan Egan as Belle. In Beauty and the Beast, Belle has no large solo songs of her own, so they included this track from the original 1994 cast recording of the Beauty and the Beast Broadway musical. This addition makes the CD more interesting and does not at all detract from the quality of the CD.
Again, if you are looking to buy only one Disney Princess CD or just find the best one, I would encourage you to buy this one. The selection of songs is complete and there isn't any annoying, mediocre album filler. I highly recommend this Disney Princess CD.
LOVE IT!!!.......2007-01-05
Bought this CD for Christmas for my 5 year old and we love it!! A great buy!!!!!
my favorite princess cd .......2005-01-15
i love this cd! my dad got it for me for my birthday 3 years ago and i still love it
Perfect for a Princess.......2004-08-24
I bought this cd for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She LOVES it! She asks me to play it every day and we both sing along to all of the songs. She has even picked up on the songs that she didn't know before she received it. I love it because now she is more interested in listening to the cd and dancing with me in the house than watching a video. In quiet times, she likes to sit on my lap and look at the pictures in the liner notes. The recordings are beautiful, it is the one children's cd that I can listen to over and over. If you have a little girl who loves princesses, this is definitely worth the money.

Album Description
The multi-talented Maggie Gyllenhaal makes her recording debut with several outstanding performances alongside tracks from Calexico for award-winning writer-director Don Roos' quirky new film HAPPY ENDINGS. The release also features songs by Greyboy and the Black Heart Procession. As intertwining storylines weave the lives of assorted characters together throughout the film, this eclectic line-up of music sets the stage for each story. Maggie Gyllenhaal, who also stars in HAPPY ENDINGS, sings three songs on the soundtrack including Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" plus two original tunes. Gyllenhaal's breakthrough performance in the provocative, controversial film SECRETARY earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best actress, and put her on the map as a gifted and acclaimed talent. Since then, she has appeared a number of films including ADAPTATION, CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND and MONA LISA SMILE, as well as the Tony Kushner play Homebody/Kabul. Tucson, Arizona-based Calexico's musical roots are planted in Southwestern American and Mexican culture, and soak up influence through the Americas, Africa and around the world. Since 1996, their mellow, desert-rock sounds have found a growing fanbase, and collaborations include work with musicians such as Richard Buckner, Lisa Germano, Vic Chesnutt, Neko Case and Victoria Williams.
Customer Reviews:
Introducing Maggie Gyllenhaal..........2006-09-12
Yes, 'Tropics of Love' is a pretty decent track but we can all admit that the real draw to this very short soundtrack is the inclusion of three songs sung by Maggie Gyllenhaal, two originals as well as her haunting rendition of Billy Joel's 'Just the Way you Are'. My personal favorite is 'I Can't Wait' but 'How Lucky am I' is also a great track. I still can't believe that the acadamy didn't swallow up these tracks for their 'Best Original SOng' catagory last year. My only regret is that this CD is so short. With only eight tracks it leaves you a bit wanting...like I don't know, maybe another Maggie song!
Has a style, not enough polish..........2006-06-23
I really enjoy the flow of the CD, the pieces fit well together. My only complaint, as minor as it may be, was I wanted more from Maggie's songs. The band was very sparse and muted behind her, and it made me struggle to enjoy swaying to the rhythm. If those three tracks had been recorded/mixed a bit better, I'd give this CD a 5. Very unique and fresh. I'd love to hear Maggie sing again.
Really fantastic.......2006-05-03
Maggie Gyllenhaal deserves to have her own solo album. She may not have the best voice around, but she infuses her lyric readings with a raw kinetic passion reminiscent of a young Patti Smith. Her rendition of "How Lucky Am I" is truly haunting. The album is a wonderful companion piece to the underrated film from which the music is culled.
Dirty Great Omission.......2006-04-08
How on earth could Dirty Three Not be included?! Really, almost unforgiveable. I adore Maggie's voice though.
Maggie Gyllenhaal needs her own CD NOW.......2006-03-17
I love this CD! All of the songs are good but it is a short tracklist. My favorite song on here is "How Lucky Am I" because Maggie's voice is just so raw. The song has an upbeat 50s vibe with a modern twist. I have a habit of only listening to her songs on the CD and unfortunately there are only 3. I really hope that she continues to sing and will hopefully record an entire album of her. She's very unique especially in comparison to say your typical popstars that are hard to tell apart.

Album Description
Melissa Manchester is one of the premier female vocalists of the last three decades! She has had loads of charting albums over that time. Surprisingly very few of them have ever been issued on CD. Better Days & Happy Endings reached # 24 on the Billboard charts in 1976. 2006.
Customer Reviews:

wow! miss manchester truly rocks. songs like happy endings, you can make your dreams come true and good news are true gems. the whole album is worth listening. if you are melissa manchester fan, you will not be disappointed, to say the least.
Better Days & Happy Endings (1976).......2006-08-01
This is the Melissa's 4th LP and follow up to her 1975 breakthough LP MELISSA, which featured the top 10 hit Midnite Blue. She continues her plight in relevant times for the evolving woman, love and relationships. The lyrics are poised in a way that few writers of that time could express. The lead single on this CD is Jsut You And I which was a top 30 hit for her as well as being her You've Got A Friend song. She and Bob Dylan sang this song together in the privacy of Bob's home and we sould have loved to have been there! Better Days was the next single and follow up story to the day after Midnite Blue. It became the last song she sang in concert, accapella. The third single was a double sided hit with a single mix of Happy Endings and a remake of Fontella Bass's Rescue Me. Ignored by Arista, however, is the standard that could have been her biggest single Come In From The Rain. It's one of her most popular attractions in concert.
Other highlights include Good News, Stand Up Woman and the Rufus/Chaka Khan sound-a-like You Can Make It All Come True.
If you could get the Japan version of this CD put out by BMG, it is well worth the price tag! Missing and "wounded" from this Wounded Bird re-issue are the lyrics, original colorization artwork and sound quality. Certainly better than your scratch LP, but not up to par with the Japanese version. Maybe if enough of these cheaply released issues become sold, it will prompt Melissa to buy back her rights to her music and re-issue them the right way with bonus tracks and perfection.
THEN & NOW!.......2006-07-25
I have longed to hear this music again for decades! I was 16 in 1976, and this was my favorite album. I played it relentlessly. A few decades, a few life changes, several moves, and somewhere along the way, my vinyl albums were lost. Of the entire collection, the loss of BETTER DAYS & HAPPY ENDINGS was the only one that truly hurt. Having searched without luck for it on CD for years - literally - and being willing to pay a pretty penny, I am overjoyed and giddy that it is finally available! I am a huge Melissa Manchester fan, but I'm passionate about her older albums. Her collaboration with Carol Bayer Sagers is incredible. The songs on BETTER DAYS & HAPPY ENDINGS are beautifully written (musically and lyrically) and lushly delivered. I could go on, critique every song, but I'll end here with a simple "Buy it! You won't regret it!" It's Classic Melissa at her very, very best!

Customer Reviews:
Great for opera lovers -- even better for opera haters.......2001-09-10
These three one-act chamber operas are rare birds indeed, and it's marvelous to have them all on a single compact disc.
The first, "Gallantry: A Soap Opera," is an excellent introduction to the American opera composer Douglas Moore (whose _Ballad of Baby Doe_ is always on the short list of best American operas). This affectionate satire is presented as if it were a television program, complete with fake commercials. The whole enterprise is reminiscent of a middling "Saturday Night Live" sketch, but it's funny enough to withstand any comparison.
Paul Hindemith's "Hin und Zuruck" is probably the most caustic of the operas here, as befits a work dating from the tumultuous Weimar Republic. It depicts a domestic tragedy, then replays the same scene backwards for an improbable comic ending. This could all be delightful in live performance. But on a recording, the visual jokes that stem from running a scene forwards and backwards simply don't register. That said, Hindemith's musical balancing act between highbrow opera and lowbrow cabaret is consistently entertaining, and worth close attention.
The flat-out funniest of the three operas is Gian Carlo Menotti's "The Telephone, or L'Amour a Trois." In this piece a young man finds himself with a problem: His attempts to propose to his fiancee are always interrupted by her telephone. The young man's solution is perfectly ingenious, as is the entire opera. It should be noted that Menotti is one of the few opera composers who writes his own libretti -- and the gently mocking libretto of "The Telephone" is every bit as much fun as the music. (If you only know Menotti from the mawkish Christmas chestnut "Amahl and the Night Visitors," this little masterpiece will be a positive revelation.)
The New York Chamber Ensemble, bravely led by Stephen Rogers Radcliffe, performs with consistent precision and sensitivity. The voices, while clearly opera caliber, do not attempt to overpower the delicate, frequently unconventional instrumentation.
On the whole, the recording is just the ticket for those who believe that all operas are necessarily pretentious and overblown. But it's also a terrific gift for opera lovers, who have most likely never heard these little gems before.

Best 90s DC hardcore band.......2005-07-08
Ok. Seriously. You like Damnation A.D. If you don't, shame on you. This band was incredible on recording, and even more amazing live. No More Dreams the song is quite possibly the darkest and hardest song EVER. Theres a great cover of Funeral March on this album too!
MUST OWN.......2005-01-10
THE HEAVIEST, MOST BRUTAL, EVIL, DARK, DEPRESSING, GLOOMY, SLUDGIEST ALBUM EVER RECORDED BY HARDCORE KIDS
no kidding.......2002-11-01
this album might be one of the most depressing and insanely bleak selections ive ever heard. not to mention that one of the tracks is an orchestrated version of Chopin's Funeral March. buy this album but be prepared to want to quit life.
masterpiece.......2001-11-20
this album is, in my opinion, a (if not THE) masterpiece of the genre. if you're into metalcore you should appreciate this. out-of-this-world intense vocals on top of flawless, smoothly flowing, and transitionally perfect instrumental composition. this may be the only band in the genre that wonderfully executes lengthy (minutes long) instrumental sections in songs. absolutely worth a thorough, active listen. this is energy in audio form.
also.. dude form pago pago, i'm afraid you may have gotten this band confused with another. this is damnation a.d. not just damnation. the guitarists are/were ken olden (wrote most music and lyrics on this album) and hillel halloway. ken olden was also in the successful d.c. hardcore band BATTERY.
Heavy S*#t.......1999-04-22
If this is the same damnation that I think it is then I only hope to see more of their catalog on amazon.com I cannot seem to find their stuff anywhere. I am a big fan of their guitarist TODD SURRIDGE.He really rocks!!!not only was he in that heavy band from hawaii SHOVEL but he also played in SOCIAL IGNORANCE a punk outfit from hawaii which also featured that other rockin' guitar player NOEL AQUINO who is now playing in a rock band "SG" Damnation really rock and I give them 5 stars!!!!!!!

One of the Best.......2006-01-08
Dick Siegel is one of the great undiscovered gems out there. Angels Aweigh is a great album by any measure and deserves a hell of a lot more noteriety that it has gotten. You should do yourself a huge favor and buy this album.
Loved this CD....very moving for me..........1999-04-20
Would love for Dick Seigel to read this. I live in a small community in Eastern Kentucky and just feel lucky to have come into contact with this CD. I lost my husband in a work accident in November 97, and heard the songs "Someone's Crossing Over" and "Angels Aweigh" a few months later. I can not express how much the words and music meant to me and my children, ages 3 and 7 at the time. I would someday like to meet the man who writes music like this, who sums up in so few words the feelings of my own and gives me relief and comfort, when it appears there is none. I would like to thank Dick for making my world a little better. I also enjoy the song, "I want to touch your dress"...I found it very appealing and sexy in a very nice way. I have tried to buy this CD since hearing, as I have only had a tape recording and have had little success finding, but am happy to purchase here and looking forward to hearing the music I haven't before.
Dick Siegel is an Ann Arbor original !.......1998-11-18
The title track alone is worth the price of this CD. Siegel's touching story of timeless generational passage is brilliant, sharp and lays heart and soul on the line. Heeby Beeby Boo and The Silvertones are classic bar stoppers Siegel has perfected in the school of hard knocks. You will hear a gifted lyricist who backs up his sharp wit with a burning beat and rhthym that sticks. You'll jump to these tunes for years. Take it from a local who had the good fortune to hear Dick Siegel in Ann Arbor twenty years back. You will cherish these tracks for many moons.

Excellent........2005-09-11
Excellent! Better than I expected. It was so good that I also purchased "Boy Singer" which I found not quite as good as "Lady In Satin" but good.
Peter Marshall Sings.......2005-08-17
I found this CD to be very much to my liking. I knew that I would like it because I had heard a couple of the songs on the radio. Only two CDs featuring his voice have been issued and both of these in only recent years. T(...)
