Actually It is Worth it........2006-08-15

Ok, I didn't pay the full price listed on here, but if I did, I wouldn't be disappointed. This album is a solid production that will have you wondering - why isn't this going to be played on the radio.
The West End Girls sound like bad Catholic School Girls and that's a good thing especially when they are singing Rent or Love Comes Quickly. Most of the tracks on this album are addictive, only a few stand out as not being up to the rest. I'll let you figure out which when you listen.
Bottom line - find this album and buy it. Even if you are a casual PSB fan but enjoy dance tunes this will be on on your heavy rotation play list. I've had my copy for two weeks and listen to the entire album at least once a day. Heaing PSB lyrics sung by a young woman is interesting and definitely adds another dimension to the songs.

A legitimate. modern and worthy PSB cover group.......2006-07-03

The euro-english vocals of Isabelle are a refreshing change from Neil's nasal and sometimes whining voice. Her partner, Rosanna arranges mostly classical PSB tunes with a modern flair and tempo which still shows deference to the originals.

All of the songs are worthy tributes, but those that rise above mere reproduction are Domino Dancing, Jealasy, and Love comes quickly. Visit them at westendgirls.se to preview the tunes.

Finally, it is nice to have Rent finally sung by a young woman, which avoids that prurience that surrounds Neil's version.

WOW! THATS WHAT I SAID WHEN I HEARD THIS CD. ITS A WONDERFUL MIX OF SONGS FROM THE GIRLS FROM VANCOUVER. I LIKED THE CD WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT IN THE SUMMER OF 91.THE CD HAD A STRONG DEBUT ALSO SPAWNED FOUR SINGLES. IN CANADA THE ALBUM HAD LOTS OF RADIO PLAY. THIS 12 YEAR OLD CD STILL ROCKS.

Keep expectations low.......2005-09-04

This is just a warning. This is not the actual original single for West End Girls and it is not even released by Pet Shop Boys record label. Although the mixes are decent for their time, their novelty soon wears thin. The sound quality is shotty, as other reviewers have noted. I consider myself to be a true fan of PSB and try to collect as much as I can get my hands on. But this release comes off as unauthentic and weak. A "MUST HAVE" for only those that are TRULY die-hard fans of PSB.
Fyi: If you are a fan of the song itself, a very decent remix by SASHA was officially released as a B-side track on the single for "I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing." This same mix is later included on the limited edition of POPART, the collected singles of the Pet Shop Boys that was released last year. This latter has a better sound quality simply because it was released over a decade later.
I would sooner recommend these CD's than the one you are currently looking at.

tight Song&cool Re-mixes.......2003-03-13

I use to really dig this Jam back in the day&it's so cool that it was released with all of these Mixes to add to His depth.Pet Shop Boys had some jams back in the day&this is the One that truly blew them up.

A couple mixes (the Monreal ones) are okay. The cd was recorded VERY badly. The volume level of each song is dramatically different and needs to be adjusted for each song you listen to. There is also a distinct muted quality - songs sound muffled and lack any warmth, fullness or richness. Bobby O was involved in these mixes (He really knows what he's doing and is responcible for lots of great stuff)so I think that the majority of the problem is not the mixes themselves but with quality control of XYZ records. Re-released stuff like this by small companies with unknown audio recording equipment can be a crap shoot but its often the only way to obtain these mixes. Just getting a bad cd is very very unusual and since a cd is an exact copy I'd be leery of ordering. I did turn them into mp3s and was able to dramatically improve their sound and level out the volume. You could do this or save money - get a used copy.

From Lake Geneva to the Montreal station?.......1998-12-15

Well, what should I say? I guess this record has just 'historical' value, because it contains the earliest versions of WEG the boys had done with Bobby O. The original mix is interesting, obviously, as well as the acid house mix. But the James Brown mix and Montreal mixes seems to me as total crap and just a few people would be able to listen this CD from start to end.

Timeless Classic top 80's Tune Re-visited.......1998-08-29

What can i say? Classic tune from 1985 appearing at last on it's own cd. Great remixes which were only previously available on vinyl. Worth buying if your a psb collector or have never purchased an original copy

Classic Song Covered Nicely.......2006-06-12

Alright, I must admit that though PSB are one of my favorite bands, I don't much care for their biggest US Hit "West End Girls". Perhaps it's their performance of the song. However,it is a classic pop song that helped rap (for better or worse) integrate into Pop music. The Band West End Girls do a great job of covering the classic and give it a nice Euro Pop/Dance sound that will have you singing along. As everyone has heard the original many times, it's great to hear the song with some fresh sounds. A definite must purchase for PSB fans or anyone liking Euro Pop (the kind that you just feel weird blasting on your car stereo). So roll up those car windows and blast West End Girls as you dance down the freeway.

Finally a good cover of this song!.......2006-07-23

Another single from West End Girls, and another cover of a Pet Shop Boys hit. These tracks are basically a modern update that doesn't add an incredible amount to the original but it also is an admirable production too. It's fun to hear and will definitely get you bouncing and singing along. All PSB fans should give it a try. Anyone loving the original will definitely need to own this version. It's got a great beat and you can dance to it.

Second album...pretty good.......2003-08-28

The Girls' second effort, their follow-up to their self titled debut, is pretty good. It released a couple of good singles; R.U Sexin' Me? and Pure (You're Touching Me). Camille Henderson (also known as Sara McLachlan's back-up singer, and played character Shirley in "My American Cousin") and Silvana Petrozzi, replaced with Janele Woodley and Celia-Louise Martin are joined with original band member Aimee McKenzie for this album. AWESOME Canadian talent!! My personal favorite track is the Ritchie Valens cover of "We Belong Together". Sadly, this was their last album. Liked the first album better, but this was also a great album from that time.

The girls are cool!!.......2003-08-27

I was a huge fan of the West End Girls while in high-school, and can remember how all the guys were crazy for them as well. This was their second, and final effort, but stand-out tracks include; We Belong Together, R.U Sexin'ME, Reunited, Sexy and Pure(You're touching me). I met former West End Girl, Silvana Petrozzi (again while I was in high school), during one of her performances.....I was SO nervous. But she was kind, sweet and very down to earth; we even had dinner together!! Camille Henderson, also a former West End Girl co-writes a song on this album.
