Customer Reviews:
Sophisticated ambient lounge grooves.......2003-02-16
This is a very stylish and laid back album just right for that lazy Sunday afternoon or quiet cocktail. It's almost like an imaginary soundtrack for some lush elegant film that never existed. Its all very jet set and Wallpaper magazine, and reminds me of the group Air at times, but of course is by several different artists. I love the track 'Turn out the lights', that samples Cyd Charisse miming Vikki Carr's 'Theme from The Silencers' Dean Martin's Matt Helm spy spoof . Just Vikki saying 'turn out the lights' over and over with this hypnotic slow beat becomes mesmerizing. This album has lots of deep house/ambient grooves and breathy french vocals in tracks like 'Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi' and 'Elle et Moi'. Barry Adamson, famous for his...track 'Black Amour' , here is wonderful on 'The vibes aint nothing but the vibes'.
This is a fascinating album with a nice encompassing mixture of cool ...beats. Immerse yourself. Robert Rechter. Feb 2003.
