Product Description
33 of the best tracks from Reactivates Volumes 1-17. These are the tracks that from 91-95 formed the basis of the scenes we now know as Techno, Trance and Hard House. Highlights include techno classics such as Joey Beltram-'Energy Flash', DJ Hell-'My Definition Of House Music' and Jaydee-'Plastic D reams' along with timeless party tracks such as Hardfloor-'Acperience', Visions Of Shiva-'A Perfect Day', Artemisa-'Bits & Pieces' and Marmion-'Schoneberg' show who wrote the blueprint for today's trance sounds, while hard house's roots in Nu-nrg are well represented with Movin' Melodies-'Peppermint Lounge', Cygnus X-'The Orange Theme', Pump Panel-'Ego Acid' and De Donatis-'The Sound'. Three slimline jewel cases housed in a slip-box. 2001 release.

Customer Reviews:
Completer set.......2006-02-11
If you have the four disc boxed set you know you are missing quite a few essential Zep cuts so, spend a little more and get this two disc set to complete your collection.
An Excellent Companion To The First Boxed Set.......2005-10-04
Led Zeppelin's first boxed set was an excellent starting point for casual fans, but also left out a lot of great stuff. With many newbies craving for more Led Zeppelin, another boxed set was compiled called "Led Zeppelin Box Set, Vol. 2". How does it hold up? Read on for my review.
Positives:
-If you own the boxed set and are interested in having all the tracks omitted from it, than this collection will do just fine. This has all the important stuff left off the first collection, including "Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)", "The Lemon Song", "Good Times, Bad Times", "Sick Again", "Moby Dick", "The Crunge" and "Bron-Yr-Aur".
-The songs sound really good.
-It's reasonably priced.
-There's a previously unreleaed song called "Baby Come On Home". It's a really good song.
Negatives
-As great as this collection, it would have been better to have the two cds split into two separate cds and inserted onto the first boxed sets.
-This cd is very hard to locate.
Overall, if you have the first Led Zeppelin boxed set, than you should definitely get this second editoion as well.
Led Zep Box Set 2.......2005-09-18
I actually like Box Set 2 better than Box Set 1. In this set, Jimmy Page seems to have the most input., rather than Set 1, which was more geared to Robert Plant. If you love Zep Music... you will LOVE Box Set 2. Good Listening!
If you have the 1st Box Set, you need this one!.......2005-05-30
Box Set 2 contains the rest of the studio recordings that didn't make its way on to the 1st box set.
Buy Box Set 1 and 2 together to get the complete studio recordings of the Led Zeppelin catalog.
Fans who want the chronological timeline preserved are better off with the Complete Studio Recordings box set. It takes up a hefty amount of shelf space on your library!
But for fellas like me who just want to compress the Led Zeppelin studio recordings into a nifty 6 CD set, get Box Set 1 and 2 together today!
Led Zeppelin - 'Box Set, Volume 2' (Atlantic) 2-CD.......2005-03-05
Maybe one of the best box sets I've ever seen.First, let's talk about the super-thick fifty(50)page full color booklet with a countless amount of that good 'ol priceless Zeppelin artwork.Old 45 single covers, live concert photos, old magazine covers, flyers, etc. Two discs, with a total of 32 songs.A couple of better known cuts, like "Good Times Bad Times","The Lemon Song","You Shook Me" and "Living Loving Maid(She's Just A Woman)".Plus plenty of somewhat obscure tunes that I haven't heard in awhile, like "Sick Again","Black Country Woman",the kick-ass "Boogie With Stu",""Bron-Yr-Aur","The Crunge" among others.A must-have for any true Zep fan.

Mill. Classical review.......2007-05-13
This is a great set of recordings for the money, the only problem was I've had to clean some of the CD's before they played correctly.
classical music for the unitiated.......2007-04-01
This set is a good way to start listening to classical music. It's very well produced and easy to listen to. I purchased it to use as part of my world history high school class. It would have been nice to have some bio information on the composers. However, the product is exactly as advertised and good value for the money. The students were intrigued by how many of the excerpts they had heard before.
Some little gems there that I had forgotten!.......2007-03-30
Although I studied classical music at school, I had all but forgotten it until I bought this set. I heard several tracks I haven't heard for over 30 years, and I had been humming Brahms's 'Hungarian Dance no. 5' for years without ever knowing what it was and it was on the disc, so that was nice.
I found it to be a very good selection overall, but I felt too much had already been heard on TV, which of course is what lots of newcomers to classical music might appreciate. I managed to find about 2 hours of tracks that I wanted to keep, which works out quite expensive per disc, but I did find some wonderful music I had completely forgotten about, so it was worth it. All in all, it represents good value, and I have only knocked one star off as so much of it had been used in adverts.
It is definitely a good introduction to classical music, and it has made me want to listen to more of it, so I don't regret this 'expensive' purchase one bit!
Classical Masterpieces of the Millennium [20 CD Set]
A very helpful collection.......2007-03-24
I define this set as an excellent way to find out who you like, and who you don't, among 20 of the important composers. It opens the door to purchasing more complete pieces by composers you do like, and can save a lot of time and money in the process.
To criticize the set for not containing more composers, or more than just snippets of those who are in the set, is missing the point: it is a helpful introduction to finding your way in the huge maze of classical music. It succeeds admirably in this.
Sound quality is uniformly very good on an audiophile system.
Highly recommended.
Excellent!.......2007-03-08
A great way to start a classical music collection. It's nice to have a full CD of each composer. It makes it easy to keep track of selections/composers I already have and what composers I still need to puchase to complete my collection.

JSP's follow-up to their must-have bargain-priced box set of Django Reinhardt's early recordings is every bit as essential and fascinating for lovers of jazz guitar. Between 1937 and 1948, the world's best-known gypsy guitarist was leading some of the hottest jazz groups in Europe, with some of the most innovative arrangements imaginable. The story behind these sessions is almost as memorable as the material--somehow Reinhardt, despite being a gypsy, prospered through Nazi-occupied France while his peers either fled or perished. Due to the war, the classic lineup of the Quintet of the Hot Club of France evolved and eventually splintered into two groups--one with Stephane Grappelli on violin, another replacing him with the clarinet of Hubert Rostaing. But regardless of Reinhardt's accompaniment, the music-making heard here is nothing short of astounding. Whether swinging through standards ("All of Me," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Sweet Georgia Brown") or performing some of his classic originals ("Nuages," "Swing 42"), whether alone ("Improvisations," "Tea for Two") or backed by more than a dozen friends ("Festival Swing"), this is some of Reinhardt's best music. JSP's remastering and transfers on these 60-year-old 78s is the finest yet available. Essential for swing fans, guitarists, or anyone wanting to know more about the history of jazz. --Jason Verlinde
Customer Reviews:
Django yes--- sound no........2006-11-21
Django is my man, and I've always found these to be some of his most fetching recordings. The sound is a bit bland for my tastes, though. JSP puts out an inconsistent product at times.
The Second Most Affordable Reinhardt Collection.......2004-10-09
In my opinion, "Paris & London 1937-48" is slightly better than "Classic Early Recordings in Chronogical Order". Considering the source material, JSP did an excellent job remastering this collection.
Bouncin' Around.......2003-01-15
For someone like me who loves every note Django Reinhardt ever played this 4-CD collection and another 5-CD set also available on Amazon, "Django Reinhardt: The Classic Early Recordings in Chronological Order," are the Holy Grail. Between the two sets I can load up the CD player with 9 discs and listen to this most unbelievable of all guitar players show off for hours at a time.
There is more swing, more fun, and more incredible guitar playing on these discs than you'll ever hear anywhere else.
Even though they contain no lengthy linear notes, 'free booklets,' posters, etc., these are, without a doubt, the greatest multi-disc box sets I have ever heard.
Great guitar... and beyond!.......2002-12-05
I got "Paris and London" and JSP's other great box set, "The Classic Early Recordings in Chronological Order," at roughly the same time, and for a while I listened constantly to the "Early Recordings" and pretty much neglected this set. One reason is that the "Early Recordings" are so great that I couldn't tear myself away, but another reason is that the "Paris and London" set includes more large-ensemble recordings that have taken me a little longer to appreciate. By my taste, at least, Django is at his best in small acoustic settings (e.g., in the famous Quintet of the Hot Club of France, or even soloing or just accompanied by piano). "Paris and London" does contain a number of songs by the original Hot Club (including Stephane Grappelli), and most of those rank with the very best on the "Early Recordings" set --- but there are also a number of wartime recordings (made while Grappelli was stranded in London) that have a more standard jazz ensemble sound (featuring Hubert Rostaing on clarinet in place of Grappelli's violin), as well as a few performed with large orchestras, and at first I found those a little less appealing. My view changed a little, though, when I read in Django's biography (by his contemporary, the French music critic Charles Delaunay) that by this stage of his career Django was becoming more interested in composing and arranging than in simply playing guitar, and that he felt there were more musical possibilities in larger groups than within the limitations of the string quintet (three guitars, bass and violin). So I've been going back and listening to these large-ensemble recordings with a new ear, and I guess I can say that it's expanded my musical horizons a little. As a guitarist myself, I'm naturally partial to Django's remarkable lead guitar playing, but with the larger groups his role is more like Duke Ellington's on the piano (that is, using his guitar more as the cohesion behind the arrangements than as a lead instrument). So on these recordings you get a fuller sense of Django's overall musical vision, beyond just his virtuoso guitar playing. In any case, even if you're mainly just interested in hearing Django's guitar, you won't be disappointed, because these recordings include some of his best. Also, I see that one reviewer criticized the sound quality of this set as compared to the "Early Recordings," but I'm not sure I'd agree. That reviewer may have better equipment and a more highly-trained ear than I do, but on my equipment these recordings sound just fine --- and in some cases even more sharp and clear than the "Early Recordings." In any case, don't let that consideration deter you from purchasing this great 4-CD set. If you don't already own the "Classic Early Recordings in Chronological Order," then by all means start with that. Then, if you like that set (and who wouldn't?), don't hesitate to get this one too. They both show Django at his best, and this one in particular shows his versatility and broad musical vision.
More Great Django, but without Ted Kendall.......2001-10-09
I certainly agree with the other reviewers about the music here being terrific. I also favor the small ensemble work rather than the larger aggregations. After all, there's more Django in the small arrangements.
But I do have to comment on the sound quality. One of the remarkable things about the first installment of this set (the 5 CD box) is its sound. Engineer Ted Kendall did a sterling job of collecting the best quality sources and then cutting as little as possible from the output to give us the music. By contrast, this set is far less impressive. There is much less depth to the bass and the high end has been truncated a bit too in the interest of getting rid of surface noise.
It is because of the sound that I give this set three stars (and really would give it three and one-half if there was that option).

Some Great Ska Rarities.......2004-12-24
Before reggae there was ska and rocksteady, indigenous musical forms that had evolved from the imported rhythm and blues and jazz styles prevalent in Jamaica from the fifties onwards. The Trojan Ska Box Set had gathered 50 representative tracks from the period up to 1966, including some very well known big sellers.
A number of the leading artists appear again on Vol. 2: Don Drummond, Lee Perry, Lord Tanamo, Baba Brooks, the Skatalites, Owen Gray, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook, Desmond Dekker, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes, the Maytals, Lyn Taitt and others, with well known and less well known examples of their art, including some appearing on CD for the first time.
Occasionally they appear to have been mastered from less than pristine vinyl copies but if this is the best available, bring it on. Details are skimpy - many of the composer credits are listed as "unknown" and there are no dates for any of the recordings, which is an irritation, but as this is music to be danced and listened to rather than studied academically, we'll just have to live with it
Mine was broken........2002-10-22
Good rare stuff on here. However, be warned, my disc two is a reject that won't work in any of my players. I guess that's what you get when you pay so little money.

Customer Reviews:
Must Experience this music!.......2006-01-08
I don't want to be redundant here, but just want to add a little more praise for this music:
I am a musician and can't even explain how superb and flawless this music is. It is deeply moving and perfectly expressive and oh so technically impressive! The singing is awesome and the sounds are very unique if you're not familiar with this group.
This 3CD set is the only item I have of theirs so I can't compare it to other albums, but I'm so glad I got this set since I'm able to sample so many songs of theirs---I wouldn't have been able to pick a single CD to try and so this seemed like a great way to be introduced to these women.
consider the source..........2002-07-11
I won't repeat any comments... these women have done a marvelous job fleshing out traditional songs and bringing them to a new audience. But those who are interested in the choir's dissonance, passion and ethereal tone should check out the more authentic music they pull from, even though it is not as polished and may not have as wide an appeal. When I was ten I heard the Byrd's shimmery version of Mr. Tambourine Man. When I was 16 I heard Bob Dylan's original six-string wheezing operetta and thought it was a horrific joke. Of course, now that's the version I prefer. *Both* have their place. A few Dylans available on Amazon (do a search): Bistritsa Grannies, Bulgaria: Traditional Singing (on the Ocora label. they put out several field recordings), the "Song of the Crooked Dance" compilation. Not on Amazon yet (but not hard to find): renowned ethnomusicologist Yves Moreau's Beyond the Mystery three-disc set (what do you think the title refers to?). The best collection of field recordings I have heard. Other choirs you might want to try (available on Amazon) are Bulgaria's Pirin Folk Ensemble (name varies) or Georgia's Rustavi Choir, though (as one reviewer says), they ain't the "male version of Le Mystere." Listen well before you buy.
You've never heard anything like this.......2001-12-23
For those of you in the US who are fans of vocal/choral music, prepare for an immense surprise. The Bulgarian Women's choir has a tendency to use voice in a manner that's quite unfamiliar to those of us from the West. It's amazing to hear what would normally be an entire instrumental montage forged from the voices of these women.
It can be a little tedious to make your way through this entire boxed set, but I've found that focusing on one or two pieces at a time, growing familiar with them, and then growing to appreciate them helped me make my way through the entire thing.
A few good ones to start with are "Pilientze Pee" (which actually means, 'a bird sings'), "Svatba", "Pritouritze Planinata", "Spis li, Milke le", and "La rosa en floresa". These represent what I consider the most accessible and comfortable songs on the set.
And for the skeptics out there who think this is nothing but over the top singing, remember that this is all recorded live, and not easy to perform. If you want to find out for yourself, sing with a friend and try to remain dissonant with them for more than two seconds. You have to train your ears before they'll let you do that.
Whatever you do, don't forget to add this to your shopping cart.
My Deserted Island Music.......2000-10-19
These ladies sing universes. Incredible, strange, dissonant, unbelievable harmones that make me gasp and cry.
Someone said that any art that moves the spectator must harness the concept of contrast. This amazing music covers the whole audible spectrum: from massive wave interference to sweet, delicate consonance; from bold, unfaltering vibrato-less pitches to subtle, gentle wavering over a note; from frolicking and fun to mournful and intensely moving.
In short, this music is some of the most unusual, extraordinary, elegant, expressive sound I have ever heard, and it is THE piece of music I would take with me to a deserted island if I could take only one. I would recommend this to anyone who is willing to listen attentively. It is almost impossible that one would do so and NOT be moved.
Otherworldly.......2000-08-08
The Bulgarian Female Vocal Choir has put forth here music that is at the same moment both haunting and joyous ~ Some of the harmonies herein, such as "Polegnala e Todora" tenaciously grasp my very soul. How does one go about describing music via the written word? One really must listen to this collection to come to know its essence and its virtue. This is music that's brought out the ghost in me ~~ These beautiful voices are rapt with the essence of a clean, fragrant breeze after a storm, a glimpse of ecstacy of a previous life perched upon the edge of remembrance. It is truly a celebration of the spirit ~

Customer Reviews:
Great collections, with poor quality sound.......2003-01-09
I expected to listen to great professional classical orchestra ...for this classical music collection, but the quality of the music is not too good.
There are a lot of great music collections, but they will sound better when they record it right.
It is good when you just want to have more classical music, but for a CD, the sound quality is like a [poorley made] CD.
I give 3 stars for this product.
The Greatest Collection Of Romantic Era Music.......2002-09-05
The Top 100 Classical Music series is a must have for novices of classical music, or someone already into the classics but wishes to amassa an "essentials" collection. This particular cd's span the Romantic Era, and although the 19th century saw much more music than what is covered on these recordings, this is nevertheless a brilliant and essential body of works. The Wedding March of Mendelsshon's Midsummer Night's Dream (played in weddings all over the world I'm assuming), Franz Lizst Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 (The Looney Tunes Theme Music by the way) and other jewels of the era, such as the Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss, the operetta overtures of Franz Von Suppe, Verdi's preludes to such operas as Nabucco and La Traviata, Wagner's intense, dramatic music for his Ring of the Nibelung operas, regarded as the epitome and the zenith of Romantic Era opera, and the music of other composers such as Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Sibelius, Rimsky Korsakov and many others. I highly recommend this cd to anyone wanting to sample and taste what Romantic Era music was all about. Five stars all the way.
Somewhat lacking.......2001-03-28
(referring to the entire collection)
The collection is well designed for introducing the listener to a large variety of music, with its broad range of composers and types of music. However, the interpretation of the music is hardly existant, and many of the pieces sound rather dull and uninteresting. Some lively pieces are played too slowly, and nearly all of them without emotion, keeping the set out of reach from being included in a true classical collection. Despite all that, the sheer number and range of pieces (along with the low price) make this a collection well suited for the new classical listener.

Album Description
The Complete Caruso: Volumes 1 - 12
The Italian tenor Enrico Caruso holds a unique place in musical history, as the first operatic singer whose recordings sold in millions, and who created an international reputation on the strength of these. Caruso's robust tone and musical sincerity made him both an ideal stage and recording artist, whose voice the primitive acoustic recording technology of the early twentieth century was able to reproduce with startling fidelity. The Naxos Historical Caruso edition constitutes the complete cycle of all Caruso's recordings issued in chronological order. In addition, the transfers have been immaculately undertaken by top sound engineer Ward Marston, unrivalled for his knowledge of the specialized world of acoustic opera recordings, and his rare ability to retrieve all of the music lying in the grooves of the original recordings. Naxos Historical's incredible price (12 CD'S FOR THE PRICE OF 10) puts this unique legacy of great singing within the reach of all music-lovers. This! complete cycle of recordings represents a major document in the history of sound recording, and one which no collector and enthusiast of great singing will wish to be without. "There is no series of vocal records that have a greater documentary value, that meant more to the development of the phonograph record, or that are as consistently capable of providing pleasure to lovers of great singing. ...One of the most significant recording industry events of the decade." Fanfare
Customer Reviews:
Get It While You Can.......2006-10-13
This may not be easy to get in the USA for very long.....don't miss it.
Essential edition for opera lovers.......2005-02-01
This set gives you the opportunity to follow the entire recording career of one of the greatest singers in Operatic History. Enrico Caruso was the first superstar of the 20th century -- and this without the benefit of mass media. His person and his records were his greatest publicity.
The set begins with Caruso's Italian made recordings. They show a great raw talent. The artistry is lacking with many sobs, over acting and mistaken cues. The 1902 and 1903 clearly show a tenor with a lot to learn. But learn it he did. His 1904 sessions show a mature artist on par with any heard since. His voice matures before your very ears and by 1910, you wonder if you will ever listen to any other tenor the same way again.
The engineering used for this set is wonderful. There is no attempt at all to use the soundstream process of computer sound enhancement as heard on the RCA issued sets. These are near perfect mint conditioned discs copied by engineer extraordinary Ward Marston. They sound like natural 78s, they way Caruso himself must have heard the playbacks at the (RCA) Victor studios.
Also included are outtakes and extra takes. There is a "Celeste Aida" from 1908, complete with a broken high note, previously released by RCA in a 1973 set commemorating the tenor's centenary birthday. But there are new treasures here as well, including extra takes of two of Caruso's greatest recordings, the Italian song "L'Alba separa dalla l'uce ombra" and an aria from Rubinestine's Nerone. Listening to them, one wonders what Caruso could have possible thought inadquate in those long lost altenative takes.
Finally, there is the simple joy of hearing so many things so well sung. Caruso was the pinnacle of the tenor art. He can be compared to no other single tenor since ... he has the brilliant ring of Bjorling, the passion of Gigli, the beauty of Gedda, the youthful enthusiasm of Lanza, the warm tonal quality of Tucker, the pure strength of Corelli, the charasma of Pavarotti and the artestry of Domingo.
Whether you are an opera fan, a voice fan or just a music lover. This set is worth every penny.

Customer Reviews:
Great sound quality and performance!.......2006-11-27
These Naxos performances of Jeno Jando are great. As one critic said, "these are remarkably even and consistent from sonata to sonata." Agreed. I love that Jando's readings are fast and loud, and taking virtually every repeat. I couldn't help but think, this is how Beethoven must have done them. This set is right at the top of my list, and the sound quality is the amazing, the best I've ever heard.
Other sets worth exploring:
Schnabel (EMI) - essential.
O'Conor (Telarc) - a mellow way to view the sonatas, and a great alternative to Jando.
Beethoven would approve!.......2004-06-07
I just finished listening to the complete Beethoven Piano sonatas by Jeno Jando (a couple of 5 disc boxes) and give them a big thumbs up, way up!! These are really powerful, accurate and well recorded performances, actually the best sounding recording of a piano I have ever heard. Just amazing.
I also would recommend these sets even if they cost three times as much, especially when the playing can easily compete with full-priced sets.
Stylistically, the performances are amazingly consistent from sonata no. 1 to sonata 32. Jando's interpretations tends to be honest rather than ego driven (you hear more of what Beethoven wanted, and less from the messenger) and taking nearly every repeat.
Like the reviewer before me, I also read along with the scores and I too was amazed by how precisely Jeno Jando sticks to Beethoven`s markings. Bravo!!
The only other complete set that I have is Schnabels on EMI. These Naxos sets are the first ones in many years, out of many boxes, that I felt are worth keeping as well.
Jeno Jando's Beethoven on Naxos is a great deal, at any price.

Superb Performances @ Bargain Price.......2004-07-28
I have been buying the Naxos Mozart Piano Concertos with pianist Jeno Jando (accompanied by the Concentus Hungaricus conducted by Matyas Antal) as individual discs for some time now, and I must admit that they have all been superb in both sound and performances. I happen to own many fine performances of the Mozart Piano Concerti, but the Naxos/Jando is the one I keep returning to over and over again. If I had to live with only one set of Mozart's Piano concertos (dread the thought) it would surely be the Naxos. Grab them all and endulge in great music performed with virtuosity by both the soloist and orchestra, beautifully recorded, and at a price that won't break your wallet.
Naxos, like Mozart, is a rare, magical find!!.......2003-01-28
This set is undoubtedly one of the best values I've ever seen!!! On 5 discs, we get Mozarts late piano concertos (volume #2 contains the early works). Jeno Jando and the Concentus Hungaricus sound great in their performance (1989-1990 recordings) of these masterpieces.
Like the other reviewer, I agree that this is definitely a classical interpretation and I will go so far as to suggest that those who like a deep, romantic feel probably will find this lighter interpretation lacking. The piano is sharp, defined and aggressive in the 'regal' sense. Tempo changes are kept to a minimum and the orchestra is always crisp and defined.
What I noticed immediately about these recordings is the unbelievable compliment of the Jando/Concentus combination, not only in style, but in volume. These discs are extremely well-balanced both in sound and mood. As a consequence, most music reviews that I consulted in my decision to get this set, rated it very high and as a 'best buy' of sorts. After listening to this set many times, they obviously knew what they were talking about. In terms of price, preformance and beauty, this value is not to be missed!!!
