A must buy!.......2002-11-09
I'm a big fan of Hi-NRG music. Today it's hard to find all the tracks from the early 80s. This CD has so many big hits from those years that you can't stop dancing. Only original artists with the original versions, no remixes. Although you find only 7'' versions this CD is absolutely great. I highly recommend it, also (if you don't have them) buy the series Gay Classics Vol. 1 - 12 (Hot Productions), where you find the 12'' versions.

True Hi-NRG.......2002-11-09
If you like Hi-NRG this CD is a good one to start. It has some favourite tracks and some songs, who were hits but not as succesfull than other tracks of the same singers. The Vol.1 of this collection is better, but this one still no failure! I also highly recommend the series Gay Classics Vol. 1-12. Great Hi-NRG.
Too bad.......2000-03-10
The title has only three songs that worth the acquisition: -Street Dance - Break Machine -Hold on to my love - Jimmy Ruffin -Sky High - Jigsaw The rest of the tracks is the same if are included or not in the CD: they are too bad.

Customer Reviews:
Gets you moving.......2005-07-27
I bought this cd after starting (at 198 pounds) with Cardio 1 (great for starters) and Walk 2 (also great). I walk/run to it 7 days a week and love it (now at 118 pounds!) It has consistent all around beats which were great when I increased my walking speed and then increased to power walking and now increased to running! The only drawback that I've found is that I can't seem to hold back from singing to it (which doesn't sound great when I have the earphones on!)
The pace of this Cd.......2001-09-21
People need to know that the pace of this CD goes from 122 beats per minute at the first cut, all the way up to 143 bpm before cooking down to 120 beats per minute at the end.
Great music mixed perfectly!.......2000-05-27
Actually Shape did a great job with many recognizable hits and several high energy dance songs flowing together for a super power workout-I use this one every week! It's hard to find all original hits on fitness tapes - because of restrictions I think - so THANKS SHAPE for continuing to make the best! By the time I get to "New Attitude', I know its almost time for my fav song "Rock Steady"-the COOL-DOWN!
Worst Music Ever.......2000-05-06
I don't know what the other reviewers have listened to, but it wasn't this CD. With all the great music out there Shape could have done MUCH better. All but two of the songs are horrible. The lyrics contain about 4 words and are repeated over and over, and they all sound the same. I power walk to music for an hour 5 days a week and usually love it. With great music the hour passes quickly. With this CD it goes on for ever!
Great Tape for Motivation.......2000-03-08
I have 4 of the Shape cassette tapes, and I think that this one and Cardio 2 are the best if you powerwalk or run. I need this type of motivation at 5 a.m. Highly recommend the Shape series.

You'll know most of these.......2006-03-22
A lot of songs you'll know on here. Enjoyed pretty much all of them. Only drawback - these are the radio edits - so you'll get the 4 minute versions of songs, not the extended dance mixes. But you'll get to put a song to an artist/title. Given this is for sales used for pennies - go ahead and get one! :)
Not Like Today's Dance Music.......2002-02-06
If you want to get a great feel for what the middle of the 90's decade had to offer music-wise then you will enjoy this CD. It's not the best dance music that was out at the time, but you get a good feel for what was.
old school techno brilliance.......2002-01-13
This record was one of my first experiences into the world of techno music, and it still stands as an excellent reference to the early 90's rave culture. If you love techno, this is a definate listen.

a real 90s greatest hits of dance music...with a number of extended versions!!.......2006-03-03
SPG is great with releasing compilations of hard to find extended versions that are complete and not beat mixed. I only wish they'd do more. This volume includes some 12" versions that are near impossible to find on CD, as well as some radio edits. Too bad they didn't make it 2 discs with all extended versions. Track times:
1. Rhythm is a Dancer (12" mix)...snap (5:12)
2. gypsy woman...crystal water (3:46) (bummer. should have been long version)
3. show me love (stonebridge mix)...robin S (7:42)
4. sadness...enigma (4:15)
5. hippychick...soho (4:31)
6. back to life (12")...soul II soul (7:37)
7. groove is in the heart (meeting of the minds mix)...deeelite (5:11)
8. i've been thinking about you...London Beat (5:16) (the full length album mix, not the 12" remix)
9. good vibrations...marky mark (4:29)
10. the hitman (extended)...AB logic (6:05) (ONLY time I've ever seen the 12" on CD)
11. it's my life (euro club mix)...Dr. Alban (4:22) (Seems the full US 12" will never be on CD. Bummer)
12. people are still having sex...La Tour (4:07)
13. Killer...adamski & seal (6:26)
14. i'm too sexy...right said fred (2:51)
16. Gonna Make You Sweat...C&C music factory (6:47)
REALLY REALLY GOOD.......2001-02-24
MAN!!!! This cd is really KOOL and some people dont like these songs cause they are kind of old but i really like those songs. And if you dont like these songs you probably LIKE IT A LOT if you get it, unless you like rap or other kinds of songs. My favorite song is rythm is a dancer, that song is really tight but the other songs are right almost as good as this one. SO GET IT IF YOU WANT A REALLY KOOL PARTY OR DANCE CD:)

Customer Reviews:
EHHH...SO-SO........2005-04-21
I OWN THIS AND WOULD SAY IT'S PRETTY GOOD - WORTHY OF PURCHASE. I'M GLAD I GOT IT BECAUSE THERE'S JUST NOT A LOT OF HARD NRG OUT AND THERE IS A COUPLE/FEW REAL GOOD TRACKS BUT FOR AS MANY TRACKS AS THERE ARE, THERE SHOULD BE MORE. LIKELY, IT WILL NOT BE YOUR FAVORITE C.D.
Pretty impressive..........2002-04-13
This is a very good CD set. I bought it as my very first Techno CD and was a little skeptical, but it blew me away. Go get it. Check out Clubber's Guide to Trance by ATB and Clubber's Guide to Ibiza Summer 2000 by Judge Jules. I own those other two CDs and they are very good as well.
tough, but not quite enough.......2001-10-24
Although the headline suggests otherwise, I've got nothing bad to say about this MoS release, except that it isn't as hard as you may think. The tracks on the Fergie side seem to dip in and out of Trance a little too much to be classed as "hard house". Fergie is actually quoted in the sleeve saying that he "doesn't play hard house, just hard music", which is fine, but you don't get to read this before buying the album. Apart from that, the harder side of things shines through brilliantly, and nearly all the tracks are worth a mention, with highlights being JFK's Good God, and Deception by Fergie himself. Best track has got to go to the 12" Thumpers Remix of Andy Farley's Out of Control, which has just that little bit more edge than the original and is the hardlight of the album.
Paul "Yomanda" Masterson really works well alongside Fergie. With a litlle bit more funk, and as messy as you can expect from the man, it plays from track to track leaving a smile on your face. The two standout tracks have to be Mauro Picotto's Baguette, and Rene Campo's Sleep. Picotto has the best drum sounds I've heard all year, and Sleep reminds you of Kernkraft 400's Zombie Nation. Give it another listen and you'll realise it's far superior.
A fair summary would be that this album is brilliant. The mixing is flawless and the track selection is second to none. But if you're looking for Hard House you're much better off sticking to the "Nukleuz Presents....." series, Hard House Anthems 2 or 3 being your best bet. That said, Hard Energy is more than worth the asking price.
Whatever you do don't buy this CD.......2001-08-07
the music on this CD is just plain awful, at times even vulgar. I think MOS put their drum machines and synthesizers on a random auto setting and went with whatever came out. The songs were repetitive, monotonous, and just plain old boring. After being taken for $32, I will never buy a MOS CD gain without having first heard (and liked) a good portion of the material. The Euphoria series are much more to my liking. I would have given it 0 stars if I could have.
Two Words says it all : Incredibly Outrageous.......2001-05-26
I was unsure what I was getting into when I bought these CDs, but let me assure you all, these CDs is No joke. Fergie, which is one of the hottest new DJs out this year has produce an incredible mix that really lives up to his name. I must say, I have not heard such new good mixes since Boy George came out with the Annual III or Ferry came out with Trance Nation I. Yomanda's mix is Flawless. It is jam packed with incredible flows and twist that keep you wanting to dance all day long. This is at the top of My MOS list. This adds another to my over 50 MOS CDs and I must say; I didn't think MOS could get any better. WELL - They Scored. A must have for people who RESPECT good Hard House or Trance. Worth 100x the amount you will spend on it. Pop this Cd in at a party, and enjoy as your freinds heads bounce to the good grooves over and over again.

...and it's got a pretty album cover too!!!.......2005-04-21
I am absolutely convinced that Speedy J creates his music three years in the future. Every album that I have bought of his (G Spot, Ginger, A Shocking Hobby), I play it once and go "meh". But when I play it a couple of months/years down the road, I cannot believe what a great treasure I have burried in my music collection. Most music is usually tied to the trends of popular thought and culture. His is the medium that creates its own mythology and thus he drums to the beat of his own dance. That is why I tuck the albums away at first because I am unable to see the beauty (as John Locke would have us believe) in a work that has no known contemporary orgins. The number one stand out track on this album (Public Energy No.1) would have to be "Pure Energy". It is imbued with the fizzle of champagne on your lips and factory workers slaving in an early 20th century steel mill. Buy it, whatever the cost. Damn the expense, you will love it.
phenomonal!.......2002-01-16
Never has an album moved and inspired me so much. This is a must have. Jochem Paap truly finds a happy medium between the beautiful and terrifying in this experimental masterpeice. As music has always been a means of communicating current ideas and concepts to it's listeners via the audio synchronization of tonal changes and percussion patterns, this album serves to take that concept to higher, forward-looking level. Anyone who has taken a good listen to this knows that and certainly has received powerful suggestion through it. Much love, Speedy.
this CD is excellent, takes some getting used to.......1999-04-29
I admit when I first bought it and popped it in,I was dissapointed ,being an old Speedy J fan since ginger. Was used to the dreaminess and beauty. But I have just recently been listening to 'public energy no1' And I really do like it. Speedy J Still has the dreaminess of his last two releases and adds a very hard edge to it,took some getting used to but ,its brilliant (best in headphones:)
SPeedy J finds balance between dance and experiment.......1999-03-13
When I first heard this CD in my fav indy CD store, I passed. This was just too weird for me, all the noise elements dominating the record. Later, I decided to try again, and I'm glad I did. This CD is a very clever and deliberate search for danceable, yet very experimental, rhythmic music. Melodic elements are near absent, unlike Speedy J's earlier CDs, but the noisy bits, which sound just weird at first, are actually just a new form of the old stuff. This album still gets better every time I listen to it, after almost 2 years.

Energetic and Funkadelic.......2000-09-06
Just listening to a few beats on the first track got my addrenaline rushing. "Funk Phenominon" has got to be one of the most energetic hits I have heard on the market. Armand Van Helden is a techno genius. His wild and funky beats will throw your feet into overdrive. Pure Energy vol. 4 is a must buy.
