      Album Description

      T. Raumschmiere returns in 2005 with a brand new album, his second for novamute, Blitzkrieg Pop. Recorded in late 2004 and early 2005 in Berlin, Blitzkrieg Pop sees T. Raumschmiere build upon his hybrid of punk rock and electronic music uleashed on the masses in the form of his 2003 album Radio Blackout.

Containing more apparent punk rock, twisted rock and ambient influences as well as his own vocals on the first single "Sick Like Me" and the album track "Blitzkrieg Pop," T. Raumschmiere also entlisted the help of his friends Ellen Allien on "Diving in Whiskey," Quasimodo Jones on "A Mess," Sandra Nasic (from Guano Apes) on "A Very Loud Lullaby" plus French newcomer Judith Juillerat on "3 Minutes Happiness."

      Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Hey ho! Let's...uhhh.......2005-11-26

      T. Raumschmiere's last album Radio Blackout was a pretty fun little release that mixed a fair amount of styles together into a full-length that seemed to dip into just about every style he'd tried previously (from washing ambience to dirty electronic rock). Blitzkrieg Pop finds him tossing off all these old styles for a much more cohesive release in terms of overall sound, but unfortunately it comes at the expense of the songwriting itself.

The Ramones were known for their fairly simple, yet catchy songwriting, so it's no wonder that Raumschmiere punned the title of one of their most famous songs for this release. With thirteen tracks running under forty minutes, songs are kept brief and to-the-point, and his overall music palette has been slimmed down as well, opting for a much, much more straightforward approach that mimics his more rock-influenced previous work.

Oddly enough, the results come off as pretty standard synth-rock fare. Both the opening single "Sick Like Me" and "A Mess" sound like Marylin Manson b-sides with their electronic drum stomp, juicy guitars, synth bass, and over-the-top vocals. On "A Very Loud Lullaby," Sandra Nasic contributes vocals, and the result (intended or not) reminds one of a wailing guitar track (with female guest vocals) of an 80s MOR hair-metal band. The closing album-titled "Blitzkrieg Pop" reverts back to the style of the former, with five more minutes of guitar power chords, screamed vocals, and more drum machine fills than you can wave your gloved hands at.

Fortunately, there are tracks on the release that sound a little less hamfisted. "Diving In Whiskey" is a glitchy, electo-stomper that finds Ellen Allien adding some breathy vocals over squelching, stuttering backdrops, while "3 Minutes Of Happiness" is only one of a couple moments on the album where things get backed off a little and the understated vocals by Judith Juillerat fit into the murky track perfectly. Some of the instrumental tracks on the release fair pretty well as well, with "Army Of Watt" providing some crunchy, growling 4/4 dancefloor fodder while "Patridiot" hums with a juicy bassline and bounces pinging filtered keys and slabs of noise over the top.

Whether or not you like the release will largely depend on what style of Raumschmiere's past output you like the most. If you enjoy his more mainstream sounding electronic rock work, Blitzkrieg Pop might be the buzzing, thumping soundtrack to your late summer, but if you're looking for something with a bit more subtlety, it's going to sound like a hamfisted bludgeon upside the head. While there are a couple shining moments, I mainly fall into the latter camp, and while there is some fun to be had, it's the weakest output from Raumschmiere yet.

      (from almost cool music reviews)

4 out of 5 stars This is great.......2005-09-10

What band is there out there ready to nail the coffin into CBGBs? Some say it's more "punk" to not like punk rock. Green Day probably agree with all that, as they accept another video award. This band evokes The Ramones as much as they do Ellen Allien. The music is strong and loud. Raumschmiere is an actual dude. This is the second album that we know of. This record sort of reminds me of the energy of bands like Death In Vegas, Nine Inch Nails, and Suicide. It is a wild trip. There are also contributions from Quasimodo Jones, Sandra Nasic, and Judith Juillerat. Half of this album is minimalist techno. Part of the sound evokes the digital hardcore days. This is not about the love fest. This is about real feelings.

5 out of 5 stars The Most Important Release In Rock in Nearly Twenty Years.......2005-06-11

I'm ASTOUNDED anyone could impugn the relevance that this release has to music in general. There is nothing played on MTV, nor awarded at the Grammys, that compares with the significance of the release. The utter obtusity showcased in too many reviews of this release is amazing. This man has made legitimate Classical Music...the type that can stand up to most of the greatest, and he's a "ridiculous rock person". Deep Purple, Rainbow, and MOST CERTAINLY NOT Metallica never approached the magnitude of this accomplishment. The preposterous, Rabble-oriented reaction to this dvd on Amazon portrays the horrible, style over substance attitude of "music" fans everywhere.
If you enjoy listening to something that is a Landmark in Rock music, this is the release to buy. It is the ultimate accomplishment of Yngwie's career. It is the high point of Rock music since the early '80's. Maybe I'm crazy for seeing...GRASPING the significance of this historical landmark. In any case, if you love progression in Rock music, or ANY type of music BUY BUY BUY!!!!

          1 out of 5 stars Dissapointed.......2004-02-28

All I ever wanted was for Yngwie to shut up and play; I chomped at the bit for two years before I got this album as a gift. Unfortunately, the instrumentals on his metal albums which I so enjoy apparently exhausted his supply of good material, because not even the reworks of previous stuff on this album are worth listening to. I'd like to send him the cd and ask for my money back. Back to Trilogy I go...

4 out of 5 stars Czech vs. New Japan Philharmonic.......2004-01-10

To me, the CD done with the Czech Philharmonic is superior to this one with the New Japan Philharmonic because of the audio mix. I feel the Czech one is more balanced whereas this one has Yngwie's playing mixed a little too strongly and occasionally overshadowing important aspects of the orchestra. However, if you are more interested in hearing his guitar work, then you would probably prefer this version. Actually, since the only DVD of this work is of this performance with the New Japan Philharmonic, I got it on DVD and got the Czech version on CD.
(NOTE: For those interested in the DVD, it is quite hard to find since it comes out of Japan, but can usually be found on Ebay.)

1 out of 5 stars Really boring to listen to........2003-12-27

Again another album with unbelievable reviews. YGM has always regarded himself as a modern day Paganini, but even Paganini was never as repetitive as this. Uli Jon Roth is the king of this kind of 'orchestral music making', check out his recent 'Legends of Rock' album and you'll see what I'm talking about.

4 out of 5 stars One Fans Review.......2002-10-14

I`ve always thought Yngwie`s style and technique would blend well with a symphonic arangement. Though I enjoyed the Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra in E Flat Minor Op.1, I felt the overall production was a little dense and Yngwie`s guitar was a little buried in the mix. That`s why I like this live version with the new japan philharmonic so much more. Even though it`s live, the Orchestra performance is cleaner and more powerfull, yet it never over powers Yngwie`s guitar. His playing on this night was fantastic as well as flawless. You can clearly every note and the two encores(Blitzkrieg, Far beyond the sun)hold up pretty well with a symphonic arangement. This CD is more for a big fan of Yngwie`s Neo Classical Style than of casual fan more familiar with his Rising Force CD`s.

5 out of 5 stars Hey, Ho! This didn't bl*w!.......2005-01-21

I'm watching my language on the title, but you get the important facts of it. I do say, this was a really good cover. It even beats the "We're A Happy Family" Tribute album. This was the best Ramones tribute album I've found yet, and there are plenty. The "Ramones Forever: An International Tribute" was second best, then "We're A Happy Family".

Some of the bans that appear on here have appeared on other Ramones tribute albums. Ands they still do good on each of them. Some of the songs added to this are tribute songs, and not covers, pretty creative. Anyways, some of the songs on here do get boring to listen to more than once; and, considering that I only speak English, are hard to understand. But even for only English speaking people, the tune is relevant enough in most songs to understand which original it is.

This compilation includes different aspects of the type of musicians The Ramones influenced. The Blind Pigs do a cover of "The KKK Took My Baby Away", they keep along great, adding a Rancid type punk edge. While Die Artze covers the same song and turns it around with a Pop Rock sound. The Dirty Scums appear on this tribute album too, adding their own tribute song: "I Wanna See The Ramones". They really bring back a 70s punk sound, and are a highlight on the compilation.

I do say that this is probably the best tribute album for The Ramones so far, depends on what you're looking for in one.

Thanks for reading and have a good day/night,

            Mikey.

            4 out of 5 stars Hey ho! Let's go!.......2004-09-22

This is a compilation album featuring cover versions of Ramones songs, or original songs that are about the Ramones. Most of the performers here are from Europe, with over half of them being German punks. Practically none of the groups here are well known, with the most famous being Motorhead, doing their original song "R.A.M.O.N.E.S.", which was later covered by the Ramones themselves. Most of the performances are very good. Some of the most interesting versions are the ones where they translated the Ramones songs into the singer's native language. My favorite is Die Arzte's "Die Wikingjugend Hat Mein Madchen Entfuhrt". That is their version of "The KKK Took My Baby Away", although the German title translates into English as something like "The Viking Youth Has My Baby Girl". Of course, every album like this has at least one stinker, and in this case it's Patareni's awful version of "Endless Vacation". But that's the only bad performance here. Recommended to Ramones fans.

4 out of 5 stars Good intro to X-F at a great price.......2004-11-06

When I decided to get into Excessive-Force, I bought this instead of an album for one reason: It was cheap. It only cost me 30 cents. You could say, "Just buy one of the albums; There's no new tracks on here.", but if you're short on cash you may not want to invest money into the unknown. Like the other reviewer of this single said, the songs alone earn it 4 stars, and considering the low prices of this disc, I'd say its worthy of those stars. Also, he is just plain wrong about the single being redundant. KMFDM has never been a band that just re-releases songs, and the same can be said for X-F. The versions on the album are different from the ones found here. If you don't mind putting down some extra cash for one of their albums then get that instead, but this is a nice taste of X-F for newcomers. Collectors of KMFDM albums will probably also want it just to be complete.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing You Can't Find on the Full-Length Models!.......2004-01-25

I'm personally not a fan of singles, but I buy some of them in order to complete sets and to find remixes that I like of some songs. I also like the gift of B-sides in a way, with some work popping up here and there that you simply can't get your hands on, and I manage alot of singles because of items you simply can't get any other way. What I don't like are teaser models of singles designed to tout an album, with the songs covering the same ground that the album itself hammers out.

That taken into account, I had to rate this Excessive Force single so low. It doesn't have anything to do with the songs, either, because all of them are pretty good songs. I like Violent Peace, find Leather Clad Warrior a little laughable but still decent, and I like Blitzkreg. On material aloe, I'd give it a 4 and would say that I put the Excessive Force albums in rotation sometimes - when I'm in that "I need some KMFDM" kind of mood. The problem is that the items listed on it, three songs in all, would be more of a sampler to what Excessive Force can do rather than something you'd really want to own. All these tracks are covered on one of two albums that were good in their time and that are, sometimes, fun to reflect back on. They tout a mixed bag of performers (some KMFDM, for all you watchers out there), showcasing some work from back "in the day." And they're want you want, not singles that don't include anything new on them.

So, without wasting any more time on a single I wouldn't want, I'll simply say that this stuff should be given its loving shelf-death and the full-length albums should be picked up. That's the sound of a Gentle Death!
