Trance music / Africa.......2007-06-09
This kind of musics connects to the tribal environment wich can found in Africa making it you easier to connect to old wisdom annd acient powers of the shamans
Dance joy into your life.......2007-01-16
Very easy to listen to and I felt moved to dance & play from the first few cords. Fantastic addition to dance journey work that I have begun & alows me to work on my own & at home if I choose.
Enjoy!
Great Trance and Meditation Mix.......2005-02-09
From beginning to end, the album is great for moving meditations, straight dancing or even just giving you a rhythm to clean the house to.
As a whole the album is a journey in itself, starting your heartrate out easy and building it up, making you breathe and sweat and then gently rocking you back down.
Highly recommended
Defines Tribal Music.......2004-12-20
This CD, without a doubt, is the best of the best in the Tribal genre. The music literally MOVES you--I dare you to try and stand still! Unfortunately, nothing Natale has done since compares with the power and genius displayed on this album. Words like classic, timeless, genius, etc., just don't do the music justice. It will never go out of style! I will be playing it FOREVER! It's great for dancing your ass off, releasing stagnant energy and blockages, and for jump-starting your life.
Music for Shamans and Energists.......2004-10-06
I first heard this album pulsing out of a store in Sedona, AZ.
I went in, and the music overtook me. The store was crowded, but the ancient beats from this music went right through me and put me into a deep, waking trance. I bought this cd and have been using it for ritual ever since. It combines tribal rythms from all over this Earth in such a way that it will speak to any memories in your being and awaken energies you may never knew you had. I highly reccomend this album to anybody in search of their spirituality or anybody already on their path. This is probably the best Shamanic Trance music I've ever come accross. Perfect for ecstatic dance, emotional or spiritual healing, deep trance meditation, and many other practices.
And, for those of you who are wondering what I am blathering on about, I still suggest that you buy this cd. It is great for dancing, and would certainly make an interesting way to wake up in the morning!

Call it an aggregation of some of the best contemporary percussionists: Trilok Gurtu, Zakir Hussain, and Asian Underground star Talvin Singh combine under the sonic washes of producer Bill Laswell to show the possibilities of Indian percussion. It's definitely a beatfest, but one of subtlety, where what is being said isn't as important as the way it's being stated, and the dialogue between hands includes a lot of silences. Gurtu comes from a more jazz tradition, Hussein a classical background, and Singh represents the brash young things of the dance floor. Mostly Laswell leaves it to them to provide the sonic entertainment, which is as it should be with delicate swathes of sound barely intruding, just coloring the proceedings. While it's not for everyone, those who love Indian percussion in all its forms will find this album a complete joy. --Chris Nickson

Buy this now..........2006-10-24
It's interesting how the negative reviewer below can speak of "delving" into so many styles of music, yet evidently came into this album with a pre-conceived notion of what it should be. This album makes no claim or attempt to be "classical" Indian music, except for maybe the last track. This album IS a fresh collaboration among some of the world's most talented performers (Indian and otherwise) that had my jaw firmly planted on the ground from the moment I hit "play". Hearing traditional Indian instrumentation combined with western production proved to me that nirvana or a great album of any style can only be obtained with an open mind. Absolutely amazing. 10 stars...
Still one of my favorites..........2006-05-07
I'd been a fan of Bill Laswell and Talvin Singh before, but this album introduced me to Tabla and the skill of Zakir Hussain. Years later, I own more classical tabla albums from Hussain and others, but I still come back to this one. I love it so much I started playing tabla this year.
Favorite tracks: "Palmistry" and "Alla."
?!.......2004-09-29
I really don't want to be mean, but I find this album very shallow. Classical Indian music is a very complex, subtle and beautiful thing. Comibining it in this way may help to get these wonderful tabla players to a wider audience, but the true energy has been tainted and lowered to make it palatable to simple-minded people who need westernized electronic and wishy-washy "world music" cliches. I don't find this music to be uplifting or enlightening or interesting. And this is not coming from a strict old fundamentalist of anything, I have delved deep into the avante guard, minimalism, "new music", eastern and western music theory, microtonal, etc. I would recomend jsut being a non-westernized album and getting the full benefit of tabla playing. However if your mainstay is jungle/drum&bass, then this would be a step up for you, so go for it, it is worth the pruchase in that case.
oh,that Billy-boy!.......2004-07-15
mr laswell has done many things, but this was quite a suprise!it consists of both chilled and upbeat tala(a middle eastern hand drum)drumming mixed with laz's trademark electronica that gradually fades in and out of the songs.it's a real trip-an-a-half for anyone not ignorant enough to dismiss it as "boring".
out of control.......2003-09-30

Positively Hypnotic!.......2007-04-06
This was my very first electronic cd. I picked it up at the local record store on impulse, and didn't expect much. At first listen, it seemed somewhat pretentious, indulgent, artsy... This was my idea of trance music in general at the time. In fact, I bought this album as a challenge to myself: I wanted to give every style of music a fair chance.
After my 30 second scan of each track, I left it alone until one fateful night. My friend Ricky pulled out some nifty little toys called glowsticks! He told me he had been learning how to make interesting light shows out of them, but the only "techno" music he had was a horrible mix tape featuring the likes of alice deejay, t-99, and other outdated rave-monkey acts. I shuddered at every track's rediculous synths and over-enhanced basslines. So he noticed my copy of "Another World" sitting in my cd tower, and suggested we try it.
I was overwhelmed at the difference it made to play this album on Ricky's 6,000-dollar home stereo. I was simply blown away at the darkly hypnotic, and playfully dreamy sounds that were coming out of the speakers. I picked up the glowsticks for my first time and I created something beautiful out of this mix.
And now, 6 years later, I still keep coming back to this mix whenever I need to unwind. Seriously, almost EVERY SINGLE TRACK here is on my list of favorites. However, the two that really stand out to me the most are North Sky and Tears in the Rain. I still whistle the melody of the Vangelis song to my baby nephew as a lullaby, and he loves it.
Summing it all up: These are some of the most intense, uplifting, and soulful pieces of music I have ever experienced. If you have a patient ear, and an active mind... You will enjoy this mix.
Quintessential Oakenfold........2006-09-03
Another World is one of my three favorite Oakenfold releases (Tranceport and Creamfields are the other two) and it's easy to hear why it's so popular among trancers. It has a seamless progression that takes you on a journey of mind-altering consciousness. It allows you to escape to another world. This is Oakenfold at his best.
Enjoy it while you can, however, because Oakenfold is slipping into oblivion under the toxic blanket of fast-buck economics. His demise, I'm sad to say, will rival that of Whitney "Bolivia" Houston.
OAKENFOLD WITH THE WORLD'S BEST TRANCE CD EVER MADE !!!!.......2006-05-21
In this time I will really high recomend something on my life. If you like trance...progressive...vocal...tecno...anything...you should buy this CD...not just only becasue it was choose as the best compilation CD of the century...not because was sold more than 1,000 copies world wide...but because is really...really...good stuff...I high high recomende this CD as the best trance compilation ever that you will listen.

My absolute favorite Oakenfold CD of all time.......2006-02-19
If you are an Oakenfold fan, you MUST purchase Perfecto Presents Another World. This by far the best compilation he has done and is one of my absolute favorite CDs of all time. Every Oakenfold or even techno/dance/electronica fan should own it!
The transition of songs could not be better. The selection of pieces is fantastic, right down to Delerium and the end of the second CD. If you have never bought anythgin by Paul Oakenfold before, this is the one to start off with - you will not be disappointed. This is how I got hooked on his collections - which I now own 11 of! :-)

Moving to the Music, a personal & "daily" practice.......2001-03-20
I first learned of Gabrielle Roth at a Sacred Path men's retreat. The retreat focused on sacred movement, attaching emotions & totems to each of Roth's five dance styles: flowing, stacatto, chaos, lyrical, and stillness. We had live drumming at the retreat and didn't use recorded music. On the way home, however, I stopped and bought a copy of INITIATION so I could work through the rhythms myself.
If not danced to, the music is OK, nothing spectacular. It's not particularly great party dance music, either. But as the basis for an embodied spiritual practice? Wow! It's hard to beat.
I open up with flowing, connecting with Goddess, connecting with Earth, connecting with Ancestors, connecting with Spirit, connecting with Heart. I let my body move in flowing motions, softly, gently, slowly opening, encompassing more and more.
Moving on to stacatto, I move into a new energy space. Man, the toolmaker, not simply flowing with the current, but carving out a life. My energy level is rising. Into this movement I pour my plans, my goals, all that I would control.
The third movement, Chaos, seems to be the natural result of carving out my expectations from life. I let my body move wildly, struggling to control the rhythm, to push the river, to herd cats. This is where I bring my anger, frustration, and fear, letting the emotions flow through body language, in which no lie can be enacted.
The exhaustion of Chaos leads naturally into the rest of lyrical movement. It's discovering a new level of peace, of connectedness with the Universe, with Goddess, with Spirit; knowing that I'm not alone in the Chaos.
Finally, comes stillness, where I allow my motions to wind down, allow my body to slow down, to come to rest, to enter into meditation.
I've not worked with the other body music on the CD, I don't have enough time most days to work through the five rhythms. But that leaves me something to look forward to.
AMAZING!.......2000-03-23
This is one of the most magical CDs I've ever heard. The music is purifying. It helps to focus my mind at the end of the day when I need to relax.

Customer Reviews:
Great listening music.......2006-07-11
The Gordons know how to relax you. Great listening pleasure with a light Native American touch. This particular CD spans their music career from there previous CD's plus 3 new ones.
20 Years of Sacred Musical Vision.......2002-12-27
What a gift ! I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given the gift of the Gordon's 20th anniversary compilation album Sacred Drum Visions from my wife for the holidays. It is trully an exceptional collection and likely my favorite of the all the Gordon's releases thus far, as it contains many of the best tracks from their incredible highly-acclaimed native music series including Sacred Earth Drums, Sacred Spirit Drums and Drum Medicine as well as 3 magnificent new tracks. The Gordon brothers music has really evolved in a number of unique ways over the years. And though their music stems from a native American influence it artfully combines sounds and instumentation from many indigenous cultures from around the world, making their sound trully universal; and this clearly shines through in this compilation. Perhaps the best thing about this particular release is the perfectly sequenced flow of each track into the next creating a sonic journey that reaches back in time and trancends the mundane world taking the listener on a journey of the Spirit and the Imagination. The 3 new tracks are really exceptional gems. I particularly like Faithkeeper Part I, which opens the CD and Light of the Canyon, the jewel within the center of these tracks. This CD is far more than a retrospective of the Gordon's amazing body of work, it is a powerful, transformative and healing musical journey of the heart. I highly recommend it.

Nice sampling.......2006-08-06
I really enjoyed this collection of tracks from some of the top didgeridoo players in the world. There is a nice variety of styles and approachs to using the ancient instrument in modern and sometimes not so modern ways. I think in many ways, this CD would be an excellent introduction to the didgeridoo for those curious about it's use in contemporary music.
magical fusion.......2004-03-10
What a great fusion of a variety of instruements and musical styles. Every track is great. This is the best cd I have bought in along while. Drums, sax, flute, didgeriedo and others to make a mesmerising collection of world music. You won't find music like this on popular radio. Can't say enough about this great collection of music.

From the first heavily produced notes of "Fault Lines" from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's collaboration with Michael Brook, Bliss dances lightly into a relaxing exercise in musical solitude. Several interesting and notable artists are included in this quilt of choice songs plucked from already-released albums. Among the more interesting of the synthed tunes are Sarmila Roy's "Svetasvatara Upanisad," emitting an eerie, lovely color rooted in Indian classical music; the nocturnal and darkly soothing "Mekong" from Jam Nation; and Sheila Chandra's "Excerpt from ABoneCroneDrone," featuring long, thick synth under her delicate, exotic voice. Holding up the slightly livelier tone of the album's second half is Afro Celt Sound System's "Inion," a melancholy yet punchy little number. With music from Southeast Asia, the Far East, Africa, and Europe, Bliss handsomely meshes the spiritual beyond with the here and now. --Karen Karleski
Customer Reviews:
A solid compilation..........2001-05-26
"Bliss" is an appropriate introduction into the world music category. For the novice fan of world (such as myself), it serves as a sampler platter of some of the best that is available in this genre. For the seasoned listener, it is a collection of the best musicians in world music. This album is solid. Then again, do you ever expect any less from Peter Gabriel? "Bliss" is a mix of world music that works together to form a euphonious sound experience, despite its' eclectic constitution.
I made the mistake of listening to it in its entirety in the middle of the day as I was finishing up some work and ended up falling asleep before I finished what needed finishing. Unless you are one of those people who solely listen to tribal "sounds of the rainforest"... this c.d. has a sedating effect. However, with the right timing, "Bliss" proved to be an effective salve for the wounds inflicted by everyday life... (i can't believe I just wrote that). It's a great c.d. to wind down to. Because I am not fully acquainted with this genre of music, I cannot begin to describe in adequate terms how wonderful the music is. Just know that it is, indeed, wonderful. Chinese Canon is my personal favorite for its optimistic and almost vocal melody lines. That and it works well with the acoustics in my bathroom, soaring almost and making the 5x10 space seem cavernous.
The melodies transport you and you get a sense of both richly complex mystery and blinding realization. The compilation is an excellent one and thoroughly satisfying. "Bliss" boasts the innovative spirit of ambient and discards the cheesiness of "New Age," making for an excellent world album. If you're just getting into world music, this album is a great one to start off with. If you are, in fact, a longtime listener, "Bliss" may prove to be a bit too jumpy for your taste.
Excellent But Not Quite Transcendent.......2000-09-05
We are the world, etc. Nothing new as far as that goes, of course, but it's great to see such fantastic artists as U Srinivas and Sheila Chandra pushed out a little farther into mainstream awareness. The album's mix is unparallelled and the track selection superb, but unfortunately the collection never rises above the sum of its parts.
It's certainly useful for relaxation and meditation, though I generally prefer the consistent tone provided by a single artist or group. It's also an outstanding introduction to the Real World label and the quiet side (don't say New Age, please) of world music in general. You can't go wrong with Bliss, but make sure to graduate to the full-length albums of the singers and players herein.
Sensational.......2000-03-31
Every once in a while, an album inspires and transends me beyond human senses. This is one such album. Bliss is simply brilliant! Going beyond the realm of just 'world music', this phenomenal compilation takes the listenser to the four corners of our beautiful planet, drifting, floating, astral travelling in a timeless dimension. Enchanting and hauntingly melodic, Bliss will not disappoint those with well tuned ears and an appreciation for simply unspoilt and pure music at its best.
An Excellent CD.......2000-03-25
This CD it really terrific. Some of the pieces, especially Kothbiro by Ayub Ogada, are really beautiful. Some are just dreamy like Angel Tech, and some are haunting like Mekong by Jam Nation. It starts off with a nice piece by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan which runs right into Gabriel's Zaar. In fact the whole album just kind of blurs together since they run one piece right into the next piece, instead of stopping the song cold. A really relaxing and nice effect. All the pieces go well together-NOT a "mish mash of world music" as one reviewer wrote. All the songs are wonderful and don't need to be put into categories.
Stunning.......1999-10-01
There are some pieces of music that seem to transcend being itself. One such piece is "Svetasvatara Upanishad" by Sarmila Roy. One of the best pieces of music I have ever heard, maybe even the best. The word "Bliss" does not even begin to describe it. After listening to this piece I hardly feel like living any more, so tempting it is to just forget everything and let go.
A piece like this alone justifies the whole album. But there are two more excellent pieces here: "Orovela" by The Tsinandali Choir and "Abha" by Iarla O Lionaird. Ayub Ogada and U Srinivads& Michael Brook are also very nice. The rest is the usual uneven "World Music" mishmash.
Buying it just for the "Svetasvatara Upanishad" is worth it.

Emotional, Captivating and Astounding........2004-06-03
"The World of Dream Trance" offers some of the most incredible tunes of this genre. With over 35 tracks on 2 cds, you would think there would be plenty of filler tracks. Not the case here. Nearly every song is absolutely wonderful and thought-provoking as well as relaxing. A 2003 Vision-Carriers release, this is one trance compilation you will want to own.

Buddha-Lounge.......2005-02-18
As bland as white bread. It is a misrepresentation to link this series of 3 CDs in any way to the Buddha Bar CDs or the chillout music category in general. It could play in the background without anyone ever raising their head or moving their body. If your thing is New Age music this might be for you. Everyone else is forewarned.
The Buddha-Lounge is a cosmic destination !.......2002-10-15
I bought this CD on-line initially thinking it was exclusively a Daivd & Steve Gordon title. I love their native influenced world music titles. Imagine my surprise and elation when I found out that not only did this CD contain a great track form the Gordon's but also 12 other tracks from various established and new Sequoia artists including contemporary Celtic artist Gary Stadler with amazing vocalist Stephannie and the magical music artistry of Zingaia. I was completely blown away not only by how each track of this CD is perfectly sequenced with the others but the amazing array of world -beat sounds from some incredible new artists I've never heard of before. In particular tracks #3 "Abo Daylight" from Althea W. and track #12 "Glass from Jasper" by Roedelius were extremely lush and stirring tracks. The entire CD is very upbeat and uplifting while still remaining soothing and relaxing. I find it to be great ambient music for just relaxing around the house or dancing joyously with my partner. An extremely beautiful mix of musical artists and a great CD !
BUDDAH LOUNGE - DAVID & STEVE GORDON.......2002-10-14
"When music transcends me to a place that is magical, I truly succumb to it. I am a mother of 3 young teenagers and when I want to relax, I immediately listen to Buddha Lounge. This title has virtual lounge rhythms and techno beats that has relaxing and "smooth" sounds. It is modern mellow music integrated together. Believe me, after a very hectic day, I feel rejuvenated and revitalized after I turn my cd on to Buddah Lounge! I love it!" Jeanne/Fullerton, California
The Buddha-Lounge is the Place to Be !.......2002-10-08
This is one of the most groovin' world beat lounge CD's I've ever laid my ears on. Each track is perfectly situated into the overall mix of these 13 tracks from a variety of hot new European artists including Roedelius, Alquima, Marcator, Peter Merenger and others as well as the best new tracks from top selling Sequoia artists including David & Steve Gordon, Gary Stadler with amazing new celtic singing sensation Stephannie and a hot new track from Zingaia. The overall effect of this dancable world-beat title absolutley is hypnotic. It's great to slip on the headphones and drift into it or as ambient for your next smart-drink cocktail party. Each track expertly blends a spiritual vibe with techo world-beat grooves to produce a consciousness exhalting and joyful musical celebration. The Buddha-Lounge really is the place to be !

Customer Reviews:
A beautiful mix of world music - better then all others in the series .......2005-10-25
I find this Trance Planet CD to be the best out of all of them. I am especially keen on Blue Asia's track, 'Mourn, Sob and Cry', which is an interesting song that could easily find it's way onto a various artists soundtrack. This is a very good CD that all should enjoy.
It is still a great series.......2004-09-28
I have not been disappointed in any of this series and if they produce any more of them I will gladly buy them. This particular album didn't seem to have as many songs that varied in pace and style as the other five. Still, it was a welcome addition to my collection.
A disappointment compared to previous volumes.......2003-07-26
I regret I must differ in my opinion on this volume in the Trance Planet series. I adore the previous 5 volumes. I play them over and over, enjoying their richness and depth.
There is a key difference between those volumes and this one. The previous volumes were complied by Tom Schnabel. This one was not. Clearly, it requires a special touch to compile world music in such a way as to create a cohesive whole from disparate works and Tom has that magic touch.
Unfortunately, it was lacking in this CD. I played it once and I doubt I will ever play it again, though I might isolate one or two songs to listen to. It doesn't have replayability or cohesion of the previous volumes, in my opinion.
It feels to me that this CD focuses less on finding interesting music that works together within a theme, and instead tried to throw together the most odd and unique forms of fusion that could be found. Some songs made the error of borrowing too much from Western music and not necessarily the best aspects of it. Thus you get the most boring, repetitious use of a techno-trance beat instead of something new and original. Someof the more traditional music done in fusion was all right, but some of it simply did not work that well and failed to hold my interest.
I do like that the compiler used many women artists, especially women who have overcome bias in their cultures to learn their instruments. But first and foremost, I need music I want to listen to more than once.
From the point of view of someone who has always purchased the Trance Planet volumes, I must say that unless the next volume is compiled by Tom Schnabel again, I won't be buying it.
Trance Planet does it again!!!.......2003-02-20
I will give my breakdown of this cd song by song...w/* songs being my favorite... (although I enjoyed them all on different levels)...
*1. Hawa - Agricantus - Hauntingly beautiful...
2. Kummand'i - Max Lasser - Stunning Afro-Euro blend
w/enchanting vocals and guitar work...
3. Chottie See - Long live Nusrat in Spirit!!! His voice is
heavenly as well as the instrumentation...
4. Toroyo - Issa Bagayogo - Mali produces some of the most
amazing vocalists, this one nonewithstanding... A fine mellow
Afro-Electro song...
*5. Sunset - Nitin Sawhney - This song is a good representation
of the Indian Ethno Techno scene - it has a very trip hop
feel - which for me is good since I love trip hop...
6. Manhem - My favorite part of this song is I the bamboo flute
(ney) floating over the rest of the song seamlessly...
*7. Kaar Deerge Chouvulangnig - Simple in this song's use of
only her unique voice over electric guitar, but complex in
it's beauty...
8. Mourn, Sob and Cry - Very unique Asian/Reggae mix...
9. Hakmet Lakdar - This song implores a perfect sense of
rhythmic insrumentaion...
10. Cancion Para Dormir a Uno Nino - Beatriz Pichi Malen - This
song is a sweet Mapuche lullabye... Kudos to her for
keeping her culture alive through her music...
11. Udho Hot Kaha Sumujhaye - Tripti Mukherjee - Her singing is
flawlessly divine on this song...
*12. Aiso Chanchal - Shivu Taralagatti - Another perfectly
divine voice from India that smoothly glides over the
lush orchestral instrumentation... This song is a call to
awaken life early morning life - and in it's sublime
beauty - it certainly will...
Trance Planet does it again with another seamless collection of songs from the melting pot of the musical world... Next step is for Trance Planet to include a little more indigenous North American Indian music...
Note: This music is perfect to include in a chill out/mellow out dj set...
...peace - DJ Dakini
