The Latin-alternative stylings of Pacha Massive aren't easy to classify, and that's a wonderful thing. The duo--Dominican-born Nova (keys/guitar) and Colombian-born Maya (bass)--is part of the same quirky soundscape that includes Orishas, Kinky, and Plastilina Mosh. In fact, Pacha's win at the Latin Alternative Music Conference Battle of the Bands puts them in the championship company of Kinky and Los Abandoned. But Pacha Massive's Bronx-based, bilingual sound is all its own. Trippy loops collide with Colombian cumbia, Dominican palo, reggae, and dancehall. It's an invigorating mix, from the cocktail cool of "Don't Let Go" and "Your Love" to the classic/contemporary vibe of "La Verdolaga." Guest vocalist Letha Francis makes like Dido during "Get It On," and "Prende La Luz" sizzles with street flavor. new favorite driving CD.......2007-04-03

I played this three times in a row, back-to-back, on a road trip this weekend. I bought the CD after hearing just one song on a local college radio station, and now I can't get them out of my head. I love the sultry beat, the groove. Reminds me of a hot summer night in the city.

Latin Hip-Hop From NYC.......2007-03-04

I don't know anything about them other than they look pretty young and they come from the Bronx. So I came into this album, driving to NYC myself without any prejudice nor expectation. Although not a classic, "All Good Things" is a good album.

The Pacha Massive--built around the duo of Nova on guitar and as a producer, and Maia on bass--they seem well-versed on Latin Electronica as shown on "La Verdolaga, and the sensuality of "Oye Mira," Charanga Cakewalk-like "Pachangueando," and the Reggae and Hip-Hop of "Down My Street" are great tracks.

It'd be interesting to see where they go next.

It's ALL GOOD........2007-02-23

LOVE IT! As a New Yorker, this sound is really representative of all the influences, beats and rhythms of a soundscape and place we call NUEVA YORK. Even on the cover, you got buildings as STEREO's - it's an urban sound that I think translates worldwide! My favorites are "Oye Mira", "Cruisin'", "Take it Easy", and "All Good Things" (next single, anybody?) - but really this is an album you will play through to the end and just chill!

Pacha is of the new breed of Latino artists who blend , borrow and create sounds that emerge from living and being part of two cultures , languages and worlds. This album is smoking. You listen to it and you just feel cool.

AMAZING ALBUM!!.......2007-02-21

As a major fan of trip-hop, funk, and also Latin Alternative music, Pacha Massive are a dream band for me. I found out about them after a friend forwarded me an article about them from the NY Daily News.

The first single "Don't Let Go" is a hypnotic, groovy anthem with a great bassline and beautiful vocals. Other standout tracks include "All Good Things" and "Pachangueando". I'm a fan of acts like Nortec Collective and Aterciopelados, but it's nice to see an act of this caliber emerge from the United States. Go Pacha Massive!!

CD's 1 and 2 are both interesting in their own way - and make for some decent listening, However, it is Wally lopez's CD3 that is really the standout. Dark, Tribal House at it's best. You can tell that he has been tweaking his set with bigger sounding remixes of familiar tunes (some from his last mix - 'I'm coming to London'). An excellent song selection mixed together in a compelling flow - creating an altogether solid and intense tribal house set. If you are looking for a strong and consistent mix of House music you can't do much better than this Wally Lopez mix.

Absolutely superb. I first heard it in a music store in Spain and everyone there was asking about it. Disc 1 & 3 are great. The music is mostly Hard House style.

I found this CD to be one great and one part a disaster. I love Pete and I have seen him in concert numberous times, which he is brilliant time and time again, and I have Pete Tong's Esential Mix (outstanding)but I have to say this MIX is a disaster. I was so dissapointed and at the end I didn't know what to make of it. It's definitely not a PACHA sound! Believe me when I tell you, you could not get the crowd going at PACHA IBIZA with this kind of mix. The mix is flawed in so many ways. For one the track Summer Moon mixed into this mix is so out of place. Doesn't do it for me.

On the other hand Sarah Main Rocked it! The fact she dropped Kerri Chandler as her opening track set the tone for what to come. A great 5 star mix and she definitely captured the PACHA sound. All I can say is that this is one worth getting solely for Sarah's Mix. She hardly ever comes out with a mix cd so this is real treat for fans.

This Album made me want to shoot myself.......2007-01-31

And perhaps some of you would prefer I had gone through with that, but before we talk about that, I just had to write a review on this album. I generally don't have nor take the time to write reviews, but this album was so bad, I just needed the therapy of writing a review in the hopes I may deter another human from making the same mistake and spending money on an album that is monotonous, uninspiring, and completely lacking any interest. I love the genre, and I like the Tongcast, but this is boring - almost as boring as this review has now become.

Bold and Defiant.......2006-02-01

CD 1: 5 stars for Pete Tong! Purely dark and defiant cuts!

I totally love the first CD that was mixed by Pete Tong. The beats are hard and heavy with a sound that reminds me of the 1980's (but a little darker, and much more edgy and sophisticated). Every time I listen to this CD I am forced to dance around my house and relive my glory dayz as a punk/raver/clubkidd in the late 1990's. I had the chance to listen to this CD before I bought it, and I like it because its different. Definitely not what you would expect from Pete Tong, but I am glad to finally see a techno CD that stands out from the rest. I would recommend for the squeamish to listen before they buy, as this one isn't your average techno CD. The mixes are very well done, and the dark, hard hitting beats had me stomping joyfully around the house in no time. The second track is definitely my favorite! It reminds me of the underground afterhours club I used to frequent back in the dayz (before I sold out and moved to the suburbs lol).

CD 2: Dirty but NOT dark

As for the second CD by Sarah Main, I only listened to it once. This is mainly because I was so captivated by the first CD that it took a day or so to get the courage to try the second one. I really did not like the first track because it sounded like spanish guitar, which would have been fine for a few seconds while introducing some cool beats, but I felt the guitar played for too long (several minutes until I finally skipped ahead to the next song). Aside from that, there were some cool tracks on the second CD. I would definitely say that Sarah's style is completely different than Pete Tong's, and I really didn't like it because I felt her style is much too "light" for me. When I say "light" I am not speaking of beautiful angelic trance...I mean that every time one of the songs would start to break down and build intensity, the intensity would be interrupted by a vocal, riff, rap etc that would completely throw me off (which I found frustrating). I couldn't really get into this one because of the interruptions, I guess this one just didn't flow very smoothly for me. This is just my opinion, though. Maybe you will like it. Maybe I will change my mind if I listen to it a couple more times. Who knows?

Very dissapointing set. Definitely NOT the kind of tunes you hear in Pacha. The album is a bit "corny" except for a few tunes. A stretch from what we are used to from Pete Tong. What happened big guy??

Since its original location in Ibiza was founded in 1972, the club has grown to 22 nightclubs dotted around the world from New York to Ibiza and from Buenos Aires to Munich. Not only are there clubs but Pacha also runs a magazine, two restaurants, a hotel, a clothing line and a record label. This is the perfect compilation if you want all of the latest club hits all in one place. All too often, you find certain tracks that stand out...but always on different compilations. Well, as usual Pete Tong puts them all together on this double disc. Standout tracks include "Put Your hands up 4 Detroit" and "A bit patchy" by Eric Prydz.

It's not new, or unique...but it's got many of the top hits that you may be looking for.
