5 out of 5 stars Review(How original huh?).......2007-01-25

Personally, this is one of the absolute BEST soundtracks I have ever listened to. The music is calming, soothing, and truly wonderful. The music is so well put together and nicely coordinated and I feel like I am watching the movie again...it also makes great to read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books too. Try it...you might be suprised how well it fits. :)

5 out of 5 stars Music that transcends simple meaning..........2006-07-16

Mark Isham's score for the motion picture A River Runs Through It is one of the most memorable and emotionally captivating film scores of all time. The arrangements of strings, piano, woodwinds create a meditative and reflective range of music throughout the film capturing all the emotions of this powerful drama about an American family in rural Montana. It is at once deeply haunting, moving, nostalgic and sentimental and captures the innocence and beauty of nature and childhood, as well as darker themes of rebellion and tragedy. There is a profound sense of emotion that is embedded within the music that sweeps over me every time I hear it. A combination of happiness, sadness, excitement, and reflection. There is something simply sweeping and majestic within his music. I couldn't think of anything else that would better compliment the film. Highly recommended.

    3 out of 5 stars pretty Good.......2004-02-09

got this soundtrack for R.Kelly's Use to Me spending"It's a Extended on the Classic Jam He did with Biggie.with Nokio&Jaz Ming on Board. this track is worth the soundtrack alone.50 Cent truly had flavor on here."How To Rob" is His True Classic thus far IMO.back then the cat was Rawer.there are some decent tracks on here.the Movie was Tossed, but the soundtrack is pretty Good.

5 out of 5 stars IN TOO DEEP SHOWS THAT THE CD ITSELF ISN'T AT ALL.......2003-06-07

one of the best soundtracks with various artist from R kelly to jagged edge a all around sweet cd with an excellent movie the best soundtrack sense house party with many slow jams and bumpin toons for just chillin or for a house party this cd is dope with Naughty by nature a sweet soundtrack

4 out of 5 stars In too Deep Soundtrack.......2002-12-01

The soundtrack for the 1999 Columbia movie "In too Deep" is a good one, with an assortment of Rap and R&B tracks that keep the listner entertained throughout. Executive produced by R. Spendlove and F.Fitzpatrick, with more production coming from Poke, Tone and Marc Jordan. Nas and his prodigy Nature start the soundtrack off with the title track "In too Deep" a strong track with violin background. Wu-tang members Method Man and Redman drop "Tear the Roof off" next an upbeat track. Up and coming rapper Ali Vegas drops "The Specialist" and does not dissapoint. This is followed by R Kelly track "Use to me Spending" feat. Nokio and Jaz-Ming. 50 Cent comes out hard on "How to Rob" and its surprising to see a track like this on soundtrack. 50 tears into alot of big name rappers, not the best way to make friends. All the same its entertaining. Next comes Trick Daddys "Thug Money" and Jagged Edge and J. Dupri on "Keys to the range". Mobb Deep come through on "Where Ya Heart at" and this is the nicest track on the soundtrack in my opinion. David Hollister drops a classy R&B track called "Give Me A reason" and Jill Scott follows through with a nice relaxed track called "Dreamin'". Relatively unknown teen group Imajin drops a track called "Something about Love", and Mobb Deep closes the album powerfully with "Quiet Storm" (Remix). The movie was good and so is the soundtrack. Its not amazing, but you enjoy it, and the variety of artists ranging from household hiphop names like Mobb Deep and Nas, and up and coming (at the time) artists like Ali Vegas and 50 Cent make it a good hiphop album. Same thing goes with R&B side to it R Kelly, David Hollister, Jill Scott hold it down. There are alot of bad soundtracks out these days but occasionally a decent one comes out and impresses like "In Too Deep".

4 out of 5 stars buy this LP now.......2000-02-21

I loved tha movie and loved the soundtrack. Although the joints like imanjin and hollister are weak, mobb deep, 50 cent, nas, and cnn and LOX, jagged edge, and redman/method make up for that. it gots everything r&b, thugged out, and a senametail track from mobb deep. Best song Rowdy Rowdy and keys to the range

5 out of 5 stars Buy it for R Kelly joint if any thing else........1999-10-22

This is strickly for the weekend. It's the extended version to Biggie's blunt classic. Check it out!

Not exactly a highlights disc, this, but a judiciously pruned and fully coherent presentation of a masterpiece that's arguably too verbose for its own good. All the hits are intact: Baron Ochs's rantings, the slithering presentation of the Rose, the velveteen final trio, and, of course, those indestructible waltzes. A little less of the drawn-out opening scene plus the inclusion of the extraordinary Act 3 Prelude would have made this splendid disc utterly perfect. Perhaps one loses the guttural edge and local color of Hugo von Hofmannsthal's German when rendered in the King's English, but the wonderful cast projects every word without sacrificing Strauss's liquid legato. David Parry plays up the composer's frothy textures, keeping his strings away from the unlimited schlag bar. Chandos supplies an excellent synopsis together with full English texts. In sum, the ultimate Rosenkavalier starter's kit, after which you'll want to try the legendary Karajan recording or Erich Kleiber's incandescent account. --Jed Distler

4 out of 5 stars An English Silver Rose.......2000-06-10

This "highlights" recording, one of the most recent of the Chandos "Opera in English" series, is a superlative issue that must be heard by all lovers of Richard Strauss and fine singing. Indeed, the singing is truly exceptional; mention must be made immediately of the silken voiced Octavian of Diana Montague - from start to finish she maintains a scrupulous control of legato and beauty of tone (similar to, but in my view surpassing, Susan Graham). Rosemary Joshua's Sophie surpassess most other more famous singers of this taxing role; she is truly a match for the likes of Lucia Popp and Elisabeth Schumann. Listen to the ravishing floated pianissimos in the presentation of the silver rose scene, and the final trio and duet, and I am sure you will agree. Yvonne Kenny is a Marschallin sensitive to the nuances of both text and music; vocally she is not in the class of a Schwarzkopf, Janowitz or Fleming, but this is a moving portrayal. And Tomlinson, the great Wotan and Hans Sachs of our age, is an amusing, cavernous voiced, (slightly too) boorish Ochs. The success of this performance is also due to the excellent musical support given by the London Philharmonic and conductor David Parry. Those concerned by the fact that this recording is given in English translation need not be; the translation is singer friendly (though not all the words are audible), and the standard of performance is such as to almost make no difference. If only the work were given complete - but this is still a "must buy"!

WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS??!!! please, i beg any all of you, DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM!!! It is so bad i can't think of a word to describe it!! this album is like something your grandma's and grandad's would listen to! IT'S JUST VIOLINS!!!!!! there are no lyrics, just sh*tty violins! it would help if songs even sounded in any way like a sum 41 song!! lol! honestly! just listen to the preview of 'fat lip' and you will know what i'm talking about!! i'd give it 0 stars if i could!! overall, this CD is a big bag of SH*T!!!

            1 out of 5 stars what?.......2005-07-23

this should have gotten 0 stars. anything by the string quartet tribute is s***. why do these people make tributes to any good rock group? this is just patheticly made. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!! (i listened to the samplers.) it makes me wanna puke. you should not maked good hard rock music sound like s***!! Disgrace to sum 41 and any other cd like this made.

            4 out of 5 stars odd.......2005-07-15

this cd is odd, i must say. I wouldnt have expected anyone to do a tribute to a new band like this. Nothing against sum 41, but lets face it, their songs arent that unique or moving in any way. they arent pioneers of their genre or of anything really. they werent deserving of a string quartet tribute.
            thats just my opinoin.
otherwise this is an all right cd.
            they did a nice job.

            by the way...
            that other reviewer is right.
the samples are a bit screwed up.
as far as i know, the "still waiting" sample sounds a lot like "summer" to me.

            3 out of 5 stars just read.......2005-06-09

i didnt actually buy the cd but i listened to the samplers on the amazon site. i dont know if it was just me but the songs werent matched up to the right names. for example still waiting, that isnt how it goes. i should know i listen to them every day and have all their cd's. it might just be me?

5 out of 5 stars I thought this would suck...........2004-10-05

Was I freakin' wrong or what? This CD is totally sick! You can play it for your friends and see if they can figure out what songs that are playing. My best friend said it is actually cooler than Does This Look Infected .... I don't know... it is prety damn good, but I think I probably like the real thing just a little bit better. But this CD really rocks and I was surprised by how good it is. It definately doesn't suck.
