In fact he won the Jazz Vocal M.V.P. award at Boston's Berklee School of Music and went on to sing in high-class restaurants, stuffy hotels and big name corporate functions. Armed with a DMX drum machine, a kazoo, a Wurlitzer, some junky synthesizers, tubas, trombones, a robot, and a broke-ass piano, Mr. Thompson sings tales of the absurd and the everyday. Oh yeah - and the boy can sing. 'There Must Be Some Kind of Misunderstanding' will make you dance, make you laugh, and make you sing it over and over as it can't help but get stuck in your head. Ifs clear that Andrew Thompson is a child of the 80's as his influences from that era abound. However, he mixes his diverse palette into material that is familiar but almost impossible to pin down. 'There Must Be Some Kind of Misunderstanding' is a charming ditty that riffs on the old joke about a fly doing the backstroke in a bowl of soup. Its absurd tone makes it a song that children can enjoy almost as much as adults like so many songs by the Beatles and Harry Nilsson. Any self-respecting hipster will buy this single before it blows up so they can say they were listening to 'There Must Be Some Kind of Misunderstanding' back in the day. Lewis records. 2006
