Album Description

This is the third volume in BPitch Control's Camping series, compiled by the label boss herself, Ellen Allien. Allien shares with us her crystal ball BPitch futurecast: these are all brand-new and exclusive tracks and remixes from the BPitch roster, and 2007 looks ace. Camping 03 features soon-to-come club-smashers and hushed grooves from the likes of Jahcoozi, Paul Kalkbrenner, Modeselektor, Sascha Funke, Ben Klock and Tomas Andersson, just to name a few. Trained masters like Sascha Funke and Paul Kalkbrenner rock next to newcomers like Zander VT and Larsson. And since it's always nice to have guests on board, there are also tracks by Jahcoozi and Fairmont that nicely frame the record at both ends. Even old-school BPitch playas TimTim, Sylvie Marks & Hal9000 and Feadz join in with some fresh cuts. Be aware the imminent club hits are soon available on three slabs of wax - some as super-class DJ-friendly extended versions, such as Ellen Allien's remix of a track by Safety Scissors as well the brand-new track by Ben Klock. Camping 03 is not only a sampler, not just a yearbook and not just a snapshot: it's a neu world manifesto. 2007.

It's hard to warrant buying unmixed electronic comps these days, as you have to take into consideration the overall price of the CD, as opposed to how many good tracks are really on it, that you can simply download to cut costs and just get the prime cuts you want. This label sampler proves that having the entire CD is not only worth it, but an absolute must. Not only do you get a somewhat similar techno themed unit of tracks, but you get just about every hot techno artist in Europe, and it's mind blowing to realize they are all part of BPitch Control (with the exception of Jahcoozi and Fairmont). This truly spells what may be the best label for European techno at the moment.

There isn't a dull track on here, from the exciting rap sounds in two grime tracks, to the quirky vocals in Tomas Andersson's Go To Disco, to the stunning final track by Fairmont. A nice variety of various forms of techno, and solid ones at that. We even get one new track by Ellen & Apparat, which sounds a lot like a track that would have fit nicely in with their Orchestra of Bubbles album, and really identifies their distinctive sounding collaboration.

Don't even stop to sample a few of these, because you are bound to like them all. Just buy the entire thing! The best unmixed comp I have heard this year. My only complaint would be they didn't get to fit a Kiki or Smash TV track on here! Oh, well.

Unbelieveable. You're gonna love it or hate it. This mutant album fuses the cool bossa nova stylings of Henning Fritzenwalder with the indie ambient music walls of Chessie. The cold-hot bossa nova style is so latin, but with German lyrics delivered in the silvery crisp way by Fritzenwalder the musical convention take a weird dream-like turn. The dream-like quality is heightened by Chessie's melodic ambient noise-like instrumental backings. There's strings, melody, rhythm and all the elements of normal bossa nova - but somehow it's gone down the rabbit hole and ended up totally new. It's weird - and yet somehow totally normal. To a casual listener - or heard in the background it sounds just like regular bossa nova. Turn it up and it all sounds very unexpected. Very nicely done. Totally strange! Recommended.

      I like this comp quite a bit. Despite a couple of truely lackluster track selections there are a few great tracks that open me up to more of Bpitch's artists I was not familiar with.

      I have been buying & djing Bpitch 12"s for years as well as having sold tons of their stuff thru my NYC records store before I sold it.
      Bpitch has always been a great label for the finest minimal techno & serious floor burners. This release has a bit of both, the minimal heady stuff as well as the saturated bass driven kickers.

      I can't wait for more from this imprint!
