5 out of 5 stars beautiful recording.......2006-12-30

One of the best recording of the year, with joey De Francesco the organ jazz will survive for many years.........

5 out of 5 stars Incomparable musicianship from DeFrancesco & friends.......2006-11-15

There's a wind of change with Joey DeFrancesc's new "Organic Vibes" album on Concord Records - this output signals a major change in his musical direction both as a soloist, leader and organist. After many (too many?) tribute albums to and with the late great Jimmy Smith, which ended with their joint "Legacy" album on Concord Records in 2005, DeFrancesco has closed a chapter in his musical development. "It was time for change" DeFrancesco told the press. The prescription for DeFrancesco's new direction of development seems to be an obvious but surprising one - first teaming up with his regular rhythm section of the ever-swinging and tasteful Byron Landham behind the drumset and the surprisingly talented guitar rookie Jake Langley, then adding on unexpected notable musicians from their own genre - and the result is an excellent album. But DeFrancesco made an unusual decision on who to add as sidemen for "Organic Vibes" - the forth member of the group is the incomparable Bobby Hutcherson (all superlatives on him have been used by others...) on vibes and making the quintet complete with Ron Blake on saxes and flute. Jazz organ friends will remember the stunning pairing of Big John Patton's organ and Bobby Hutcherson's vibes on Patton's legendary Blue Note album "Let Em' Roll" from 1965. "Organic Vibes" takes the organ / vibes format interaction to the next level of musicality when the group is exploring the compositional territories of DeFrancesco's self penned memorable tunes like the boppish "The Tackle", the Larry Young'ish "Down The Hatch" and the lovely shuffle "Colleen". "I Thought About You" is being treated for some 9 minutes of a beautiful and stunning trio interplay between Hutcherson, DeFrancesco and Landham. On the Latin beat inspired "Little B's Poem", Ron Blake displays his proven versatility on flute with some inspiring choruses. Adding George Coleman, tenor sax, on some of the tunes gives the album another bonus.

Joey DeFrancesco comps and plays at his peak level on Jimmy Smith's personal Hammond B-3 from 1959, donated to him by the Jimmy Smith Estate, and we can hear a change in his approach of using the drawbar registrations and dynamics, registration changes and the use of the Leslie speakers. The recipe is leslie on stop, 3 first drawbars out and no chorus on the organ to obtain a "dry and straight" organ sound - and what an outstanding sounding B-3!

Great album, great performances and DeFrancesco proves again that he's the baddest jazz organ burner in the industry (together with Dr. Lonnie Smith, not to forget).

5 out of 5 stars Jimmy's spirit lives on..........2006-11-03

This is serious stuff, and all the musicians are superb. After Jimmy Smith's passing, Joey carries on with passion, skill, and ingenuity.

4 out of 5 stars key CLICK...........2006-06-29

again a nice piece of work from jd...however the only thing i didn't care for much was the key click mix of the organ...i like hammond b3 percussion as much as the next guy but the way it was mixed it sounded a bit too digital and too far out in the mix...that withstanding...give the cd a try...

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding.......2006-04-27

This is a wonderful album. Defrancesco's restraint is powerful--he builds up tension, comps inventively, and now and then releases the tension and lets loose with some magical runs. Bobby Hutcherson is superb. I never tire of listening to him, he seems to always find new things to say. Ron Blake is solid, as is the rest of the band. THe sound production is great..this is just a wonderful session, the best CD I've purchased so far this year. It passed the most stringent test of all: when it was finished, I wanted to put it back in and start all over again. Highly recommended!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sorry for the ignorance, HJ.......2007-06-28

I usually don't look at a lot reviews of Henry's recordings, but some of the younger great jazz guitarists whom I can call friends were pretty upset with this uninformed review Mr. Biringvad wrote about Mr. Johnson and this particular recording. I will start off saying to Mr. Biringvad that we get it; you don't like contemporary jazz, and that's what those recordings HJ made were, but they are not "smooth jazz" because there is a big difference between the two genres that escapes you. If you really heard the difference, you would have known this from the very beginning. HJ doesn't play "smooth jazz" and has stated the he doesn't care for it. The difference between the two is, contemporary jazz was based on the marriage of jazz improvisations on top of of contemporary grooves, and the other has no jazz improvisations. Contemporary jazz hasn't been played on the radio for over 15 years. Based on your standards, Wes' "Bumpin' On Sunset", or Stanley Turrentine's "Sanctified Sister" would be considered "smooth jazz" to you. Yet, here we have a person trying to sit in judgment of a style of music he doesn't like, or even know about.

The other things that Mr. Biringvad said were totally out of ignorance and downright insulting. What does the word, "friendly" have to do with jazz? As if there's some "unfriendly" jazz. This is a statement made out of ignorance and maybe because Mr. Biringvad is from Oslo, Norway, but we don't refer to jazz in the US in that way. Then, to call a totally straight ahead jazz recording a "smooth jazz" is a true sign of idiocy. It makes no logical sense in any way, form, or fashion. Still, one of the most offensive of Mr. Biringvad's comments were, "Johnson is a guitarist with interesting jazz chops, runs and technique, but in the end of the day he lacks a personal jazz touch and quality like you find among the top league jazz guitarists today." Here we have a complete neophyte making statements about an artist who has a personal sound identifiable enough for artists like George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Lonnie Smith, and Joey DeFrancesco to recognize, but because he hasn't listened to HJ's music enough, he fails to hear his personal qualities. And his ignorance about this is supposed to be HJ's problem? Unbelievable.

And last, Mr. Biringvad has never seen or heard HJ in person, yet here he is telling people about HJ's roots in jazz. Mr. Biringvad, HJ's roots started in jazz over 35 years ago. He began his career by playing with Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, Don Patterson, Shirley Scott, Trudy Pitts, Leon Spencer, and Groove Holmes. Oh yeah, I just saw him play with Lonnie Smith last month, does that count? Those are just the organists HJ played with. There are far too many others to list here, but this is to show that you don't have the slightest clue as to what HJ's roots are and you sure don't have the credentials to judge him as an artist.

I would suggest to Mr. Biringvad that the next time he gets the urge to write a review of someone's music, at least have the common sense to limit it to what you know because what you don't know can make you look like an idiot, and an offensive jerk, which it has. How can a guy who has an organ in his living room, doesn't play for a living, and has no musical accomplishments to speak of, decide that he can sit in judgment of others who are actively contributing to an art form? This is true arrogance indeed.

3 out of 5 stars Johnson still investigating his musical roots.......2007-01-20

Many years ago I bought the smooth jazz album "Missing You" by guitarist Henry Johnson, played it a couple of times since I've heard it too many times before by other smooth jazz guitarists and stored it in my collection. Reading a critics about this album in JazzTimes, the organist Chris Foreman and singer Nancy Wilson caught my attention, not guitarist Johnson. For Johnson, "Organic" represents, according to the cd insert, a back-to-my-roots album, teaming up for a basic guitar-organ-sax-drums setup adding guest vocals by legendary Nancy Wilson on four tracks and himself, serving a mix of standards and lesser known enjoyable whistling friendly middle-of-the road tunes. Johnson is a guitarist with interesting jazz chops, runs and technique, but in the end of the day he lacks a personal jazz touch and quality like you find among the top league jazz guitarists today. What positively surprises me with Johnson on this album is his mature "Johnny Hartman like" baritone voice, which suits perfect in this musical context and arrangements without or in duet with Nancy Wilson. Organist Chris Foreman, mainly seen in jazz clubs and studio with Deep Organ Trio, has unmerited little space for playing solos since being "the engine" in this group. Nevertheless, Foreman is an ideal accompanist and time-keeper together with drummer Greg Rockingham, showing steady bass lines and tasty use of Hammond B-3 registrations. "Organic" is an easy listening well-smoothed album serving gentle and friendly straight ahead smooth jazz but the problem is it's too many of the likes in the market today. "Organic" still does not answer where Johnson's musical roots are coming from. A must only for Johnson devotees.

5 out of 5 stars Hammond Organ back in a swing mode.......2003-12-25

I had to review the new CD of one of my fave guitarplayers
Here Henry have used his normal working band.THE ORGAN EXPRESS

Henry Johnson Guitar
Peter Roothaan Sax
Chris Foreman Hammond B3
Greg Rockingham Drums

and it is a very tight unit that swings heavily,,there is so much wonderful music to dig into here,,,like Henrys wonderful octave runs on the bossa "Know it all" (Wes did it on one of
his last albums)or his "Bensonish" single string runs that are
allover the place and fits so well into the concept or his
comping on the old standard "The More I see you" it has
that "bounce" that makes the music so appealing
I also like the blind hammond player Chris Foremans very tasty McDuff inspired playing..he has a tremendous time.
On top of this the whole thing is spiced up with legendary
singer Nancy Wilson..she sings duets with Henry. I had no idea
that he was a singer of this caliber.
Finally to quote George Bensons ,liner notes "Henry is always
ready to swing you into bad health"
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5 out of 5 stars The REAL Henry Johnson.......2003-10-31

You know that feeling of disappointment when you buy a new CD and after listening to the first two tracks you keeping hitting the "Forward" button looking for something better? I assure you that you will not have that problem with Organic! This is an instant "top ten" for your collection, especially if it is a collection long overdue for a fine B-3/jazz guitar sound. It's all good; smoking guitar lines augmentment by driving sax and Henry's best vocals ever (those years with Joe Williams really paid off.) Nancy Wilson adds that rare "touch of class" or perhaps I should say a "touch of classic" to this musical experience. Jazz does not get any better than this.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome CD.......2007-03-19

I had been reluctant to purchase this cd having only heard one of the songs on the radio. Once I got it and listened to it, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very good and each track was better than the last. It willl keep your head bopping and your feet tapping.

4 out of 5 stars Laidback street soul from Hil St Soul.......2004-05-04

Laidback street soul from Hil St Soul, led by UK vocalist Hilary Mwelwa -- sounding really great here on this Japanese album that nicely mixes up her groove! There's a strong sound of urban London running through the tracks -- a melange of city sounds that differ nicely from the stereotypes showing up on US soul albums of this nature -- really setting the scene for Hil to open up her groove, and state her unique perspective on things. Titles include "Copasetik & Cool", which features guest work by Roots Manuva -- plus "All That (strings mix)", "What's Goin Down", "Blue Tears", "Alright", "Shine", and "Reach As One". 5 out of 5 stars Hil St.Soul Has "Organic Soul".......2002-12-28

Hil St. Soul is one of the most talented soul singers that i've ever heard. Her song "Until You Come Back To Me" is one of the most serious soul songs that i've ever heard. The song includes strong vocals, nice lyrics, and nice production. I'd say Hil St. Soul could top most of the U.S. female R&B singers.

5 out of 5 stars Pure Organic Soul.......2002-10-24

From the moment I heard "Until You Come Back To Me",I knew I wanted Hil St. Soul's CD. The first time I ever heard Hil St. Soul was on VH1 Soul. I saw the video for "Until You Come Back To Me" and I really wanted the CD afterwards.I visited Musicchoice.com a day later and found out "Soul Organic" was only available in Europe. Then I become a member of this very website and found Hil St.Soul was finally available to me... but they only had 1 left in stock.I ordered it as soon as possible and haven't stopped listening to it since! My favorite songs include "Until You Come Back To Me,For Your Love, and Paradise!"This album is a perfect for anyone who likes straight soul/r&b.

Well here is that new link to what Aretha was doing. I saw this young Lady live and as she sat at the piano and belted out her songs it reminded me of when Aretha would sit at the piano and do the same. Angela vocals are amazing without over singing. Gospel, the blues, jazz, real soul music is alive and well in this woman.

The world of music today is a very sad one. Those with a thing called TALENT are so often ignored in a world where popularity stakes and the bottom line are what is most important to a major record label and thus the public at large.

Angela Johnson's debut album, along with recent releases by Peven Everett and the slightly more popular Donnie show that some of the best music today is happening not on the pop charts, but in a more talented underground scene.

Angela is a highly talented singer, songwriter and musician remeniscent in skill to Babyface in writing love songs with a story while her sound is like a female Musiq mixed with Alicia Keys and the new funky Babyface. The album's best tracks are those that let her show her writing skills such as "Sad Days", "Call" and "I Still Care".

This is probably one of the best Soul albums I have purchased in recent months and it is a shame that so many people are missing out on her talent. What makes it so much worse is that she actually does have the talent, songwriting abilities and good looks to make it big, but in the world we live in today, a talent like hers is not always appreciated. All I can say it that I feel like someone who has stumbled upon a rare gem and I am glad to own this album.

    Album Description

On Cooper Moon, Freund takes listeners on a captivating noctural trip down Americana's lonesome highways and back alleys - from the Stonesian funky rock'n'roll of "Mercury" to the jazzy, Tom Waits-meets-Joe Henry vibe of "Comfortable In Your Arms," before concluding with the sublime Jackson Browne-like ballad "New Moon Of The 7th Sun." A sought-out standup bassist, the talented, versatile Freund plays most of the stringed instruments as well as piano on Copper Moon. He also receives support from some terrific musicians. Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright) and Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson, Blind Boys Of Alabama) share drum duties and X's D.J. Bonebrake plays the vibes. The Wallflowers' Ben Peeler provides some astounding electric and acoustic lap steel playing, while renowned producer/arranger Jerry Yester (Tom Waits) contributes a string arrangement.

The secret ingredient for this Silva Screen Records and Hip Bop Essence release - "Organic Grooves: Essence All-Stars" is how Joey DeFrancesco (organ) interacts with Dr. Lonnie Smith (organ), Tony Purrone (guitar), Kenny Barrett (alto sax), Grover Washington Jr. (soprano sax), Lenny White (drums) and Idris Muhammad (drums) who are the masters of mixing funky with honey smooth ballads, not to mention the harmonically sophisticated blues and jive-swing...who can say what creativity each tune can achieve with each player's input.

Of course the entire gig is a highlight "BROADWAY" (Woode-McRae-Bird) easy on the ears blending melodic quality as a purifier throughout the room..."LUNY TUNE" (Larry Young), overall traveling solo with Garrett taking each counter melody to the next level..."TRUE BLUE" (Tina Brooks), funky with grooves that run true and deep featuring Garrett and Grover Washington Jr. trading fun loving musical jabs... "OLD WINE NEW BOTTLES" (Lenny White), with Grover Washington Jr's clear as a bell tones and DeFrancesco's answering the call on the keyboard..."SMOKIN'" (Hank Mobley), first few notes and you dig Dr. Lonnie Smith sending smoke fumes into the stratosphere echoing his chords, never sounding as fresh or better...so sit back and enjoy this jam session with the Essence All-Stars on their musical trip to the land of Blues and Jazz!

Producer Lenny White, Reynold da Silva and Yusuf Gandhi (executive producers), Milan Simich (creative supervisor) recruited the Essence All-Stars recording session January 1996 at Clinton Studio B New York City...it was there the magic of Jazz grooved moving with spontaneity, no rehearsal as they pick songs and work them out while in the studio...kept playing them till they felt good...and that was that...knowing so well this is how musicians of their caliber perform while making jazz history!

Though the two are actually best friends, draw upon similar musical inspiration, and creative enough to write their own material, they represent two unique vocalists. With that in mind, this CD is a great intro to N'Dambi's vocal and writing gifts. Her fluency in the vocabulary of Jazz lifts many of the tracks, and is a testament to her superb artistry. The so-called "Neo-Soul" label is just too limited, to describe what she does. In addition to being a two CD set of original compositions (including remakes of songs from her first CD), the musicianship and production is top notch all the way. This is very compelling music by a gifted performer, with great passion for her art. Being an independent artist, N'Dambi is not as well known as she should be. This CD however, is for those who appreciate great talent and unbridled artistry, which towers above the 'run of the mill' stuff, that is much of today's popular music.

4 out of 5 stars Still the Best CD I have Bought in Awhile Yet.......2006-09-10

I wish she would just sing w/o the gimmicky scats. The album is great nonetheless.

5 out of 5 stars N'Dambi: Black Star from Planet Badu.......2005-09-16

    [...]
Die-hard Erykah Badu fans all know that one of her former back-up singers and Dallas, TX, friend -- N'Dambi -- is equally bad. As in awesome. Period.

Less commercial, and perhaps more an original than the quite original Erykah, N'Dambi is arguably the ultimate Neo Soul artist for '70's Jazz-Funk fans. As in this sister's style is so intricate, she's sort of not even Neo Soul. She feels like the real deal from back in the day. From many different, better days.

These are The Six Degrees of N'Dambi, based on her superb, now classic double-CD set from 2002,
    Tunin Up & Cosignin...

First Degree: Her raw emotion and adeptness with classic funk rhythms is as finely tuned as Bilal's. In fact, in some way, I consider N'Dambi the female answer to Bilal and wish these two would get together in a studio sometime. But where Bilal takes powerful hip-hop turns, N'Dambi masterfully dives into pure jazz.

Second Degree: That laid-back sound that put Erykah on the map? N'Dambi has this gift, too. They both exude a talent for a sound that says, "I'm way too busy telling you what's up here, pouring out my heart -- and having fun doing it -- to fret singing within the commercial norm." N'Dambi doesn't have a pretentious atom in her voice. Au natural and earthy.

Third Degree: Heavy (and these days rare) use of live studio musicians that jam in the style of Chaka Khan's killer band, Rufus. However, N'Dambi's band throws down serious jazz, too. There's consistently flawless bass work going on, at times reminding me of Ron Carter (the genius behind Badu's Certainly) or the spirited Marcus Miller. (Check out producer Kenneth Crouch's bananas bass in Black Star!!!) The musicanship on this double-CD is simply off the chain.

Fourth Degree: N'Dambi sometimes triggers a double-take with her pared down, plain-truth sound, "neo reincarnating" Nina Simone. (Check out Ode 2 Nina and Crazy World.) I'll even say that her unique interpretation is to purposely go flat and off into tricky keys at times. But it's cool as all get-out! Somewhat like Cassandra Wilson, N'Dambi's fearless about doing her own distinctive thing (in higher octives, though).

Fifth Degree: About that smoking band again... They take to the stratosphere two songs with a jazzy House music beat: Day Dreamer and Call Me. In both songs, the singer gets to the bottom of things. In one, getting deep inside your head to get up and get yours in life; in the other, basically asking, like Roberta Flack, Where Is the Love, baby?

Sixth Degree: With all of the above said, N'Dambi sounds precisely like... no one. Which is exactly why we dig her vibe. True to the meaning of her Muslim name, this sister's work is without a doubt, "most beautiful."

5 out of 5 stars OFF KEY? NAW "ON DECK!".......2005-04-10

I was a bit skeptical about scooping up this CD as one cat here reviewed it and spoke of her "atrocious" vocals but I got it anyway. Now, I have an idea on why he thought that but I don't think he's well-versed in the art of "scatting." See, in scatting, you can go off key and it not really matter, just as in Jazz one gets to mess around between the more common/expected notes, called a blue note (A flatted note, especially the third or seventh note of a scale, in place of an expected major interval). Well, same thing applies in scatting...you can mess around like that all under artistic license, it's all good. Now..after saying that...

There was a time where she PURPOSELY sang out of key as a joke with her producer and it was documented as being just that from their dialogue after they finished the "riff" of the song.

Ok, now, this double CD is pretty damn strong, folks! This is a nice blend of Jazz and Neo remniscent of Ledisi's "Feeling Orange But Sometimes Blue." This is a perfect "Get-together" CD to play as you and your close friends sit back and take in the smoothness of the afternoon as it mellowly swings into the evening. Great production and N'Dambi, as always, delivers the goods vocally. Get this CD, folks. Period.

    Album Description

Want to hear the sounds of Incognito, Sara Vaughn and Rachelle Ferrell rolled into one dynamic Jazz CD? Then check out Rhonda Thomas' debut CD, "Breathe New Life," from Rhonvocals Productions. The energetic songstress has composed and delivered a 12 track CD that promises to take you on a fantastic voyage through inspirational, R&B, Jazz and house music.

Music that surrounds you and grooves you. Lyrics that take you there, provokes thought, entertainment and love." No words were truer than those. With her sensual track, "Passion Plea," Rhonda speaks to the hearts of former friends that have now become lovers. The new lovers express a fear of losing their previous friendship, but the hope of gaining something more intense. With the Friday night dance beat of the same title, "Friday Night," Rhonda fills us with the sounds of a party and prepares us to groove along with her as she croons, "Gotta go on - A Funk lounge ride - Soul powerful - Head bobbin' grooves, Back beat bass lines makes my body move." With songs like "Breathe New Life," and "Peaceful Blessings," we are encouraged to delve deep within ourselves for growth and serenity. With "Stand and Know," Rhonda charms us with another head bobbin, foot tappin beat, and a reminder of the former house jams of the Paradise Garage club in New York City. Finally, in track 11, "The Matrimony" we are moved into love's pleasure zone and commitment. On this song, Rhonda has a duet with Alex Lattimore, which is reminiscent of the famous Rachelle Ferrell and Will Downing duet of years ago. But Rhonda and Alex create their own signature song with the uniqueness and versatility of their sweet harmony.

5 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh sounds to your ears........2007-06-02

How appropriate is it for this CD to be titled "Breathe New Life." Rhonda Thomas and her vocal skills have brought a breath of fresh sounds to the jazz vocals and R&B genre. To taut a cliché, she is a "bundle of dynamite" when performing and the boom is in her powerful voice. Just as she demonstrates the strength of her voice, she can show the subtleties on Ballards. My favorite tracks are 3, 8, 9 and 11. But you won't be disappointed if you just let it play through.

The title track "Breathe New Life" and "Just a Phase" are featured on the soundtrack for the book "Ghettoway Weekend."

I think this is one of the best cd's and I just got it in 06'.I just hope she markets this and continues to pursue the solo artist route. Tracks 1-4 and 8-12 are great tracks. Tracks 5-7 are good. I know shes a part of Jiva in the ATL but I hope she will tour some as a solo act. Her style is a little Jill Scott, a little Maysa. The sister can sing!!! You will not be dissapointed!

5 out of 5 stars My New Favorite..........2005-03-02

I bought this CD and let me tell you, she's bumped some favorites out of rotation. This woman can really sing. Fantastic voice, full of feeling, emotion. She's true and real! Great investment of my dollars. I've been trying to take her out of the CD player, but I can't. It's been a minute since that has happened. You just want to listen to her over and over again. I've turned on a few people to Rhonda Thomas and they are thanking me profusely. She steps out to center stage as a lead singer and I hope she never returns to the background again. Simply Awesome!

Here's a review from a fan of Rhonda's Bill Coleman of NYC:

"I drove up to Boston on Sunday, and that gave me my first opportunity to listen to Rhonda's CD uninterruptedly. It greatly increased the pleasure of the drive. I listened to it several times, on the way, and back. In fact, apart from traffic reports, that's all I listened to. It's truly great! I'm so glad I finally got to hear Rhonda (other than as backup). What a great, moving, versatile voice she has! My faves are: Track 4, Givin My All - intensely emotional, made me feel my feelings. Rhonda is a true soul singer; Track 9, Just A Phase - also emotional and with great skat singing and nice falsettos adding to the mood and the effect; and Track 11, The Matrimony - Nice duet, nice beat; the song evokes some NYC-style Latin-jazz romantic songs I recall from the 60's; it made me wish I was dancing with someone; great name for a song, too!"

If the first album made you a glutton for groove, put a permanent hold on any plans for cutting back.
Left Hand Smoke has brought another prime cut to the table with `So Many Faces,' making it clear to anyone paying attention that a growing number of appetites for rock n' roll with unrelenting soul will remain satisfied. This second effort goes beyond what is normally considered first rate.
When you are in the fortunate position of understanding this slice of greatness, stay in line because the getting will be good for a long time. If you haven't heard Left Hand Smoke yet, consider yourself missing out and go get yourself some while they are still at an arms reach.

This album is amazing. It has the gritty, blues-rock that Left Hand Smoke had in their first album, but this is more refined. If you like great guitar and piano work, and love the blue-rock genre then this one should be on your buy list.

I have been a fan of everything Daddy X has done for over Twenty years. He just keeps getting better. But I miss the good old days of back yard parties and tossing dounuts around at Fenders Ballroom, Songs like, Enough,10 on 1,and skate party. Daddy X has come a long way, and so have i. I look foward to whats next.

Daddy X is the Godfather of the underground, and the leader of the group Kottonmouth Kings, he proves on this cd that he is the godfather and whatever music the guys touch can turn to gold, just this solo cd, stoney vibrations all over on this cd, that turns more then gold, turns my nuggets into smoke, cuz thats all i wanna do when i listen to this cd

5 out of 5 stars another hit from suburban noize.......2004-09-08

First of all if you are expecting a kmk style album this is not what you are going to get with organic soul. Daddy X put together one of the most laid back albums I have ever heard and it is greatness. The album is full of rasta style tracks that all get stuck in your head with the exception of a couple. Standout tracks are dyin Breath, Irie feeling, Settin Sun, Peaceful Day, and Pleasure to Burn. Pick up this album and support underground music.

5 out of 5 stars Hey Daddy X put those fools in check.......2004-09-02

If you heard "I get up" or "Peaceful Irie Feeling" then you have a good idea of how this album sounds.I could listen to this album over and over again. It is so tranquil, yet punk-rasta with a side of old school. I couldn't tell if sky blue was going to annoy me or be cute..... She's cute. Way to go Brad!
