About the Artist
Mantra 2 are an exciting mixture of 80's individualism, colourful image and new beats for the millenium. Added to this great melodies and some intoxicating guitar riffs makes MANTRA 2 a REAL breath of fresh air. As they would say: "Be One of us". Something we would definitely recommend. They are the NEW new romantics.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful.......2006-03-29

Both the Movie and the Music are worthy of more than 5 stars. They both will bring more than a few tears to your eyes. See it, hear it, it's a must!

5 out of 5 stars magnificent.......2002-11-11

I saw the movie Humoresque when I was a child and like Nadja I never forgot either the story or the glorious music. Her recreation of the soundtrack is simply perfect. Look for the Tristan and Isolde Fantasie, which is not only the highlight of the album but the finest adaptation of T&I ever composed. This is a collector's item whether you are a Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg fan, a movie buff or just a lover of the violin. Magnificent!

5 out of 5 stars This is perfection.......2002-02-11

I have not (yet) seen the 1940's film Humoresque, but this re-created soundtrack makes it a must-see. This CD combines classical music and early 20th century popular masterpieces (Cole Porter, Gershwin). Nadja displays virtuosity and heart-rending tenderness. The piano accompaniment, and the occasional vocals (on the Porter/Gershwin), are themselves perfection. This CD immediately joins the "stranded on a desert island" list. Nadja explains in detail (in the accompanying liner notes) the film, the soundtrack, and their impact on her.

5 out of 5 stars Humoresque - a collector's dream.......2000-01-13

Nadja's childhood attachment to these selections transcends time and is evident in these haunting, almost spiritual performances.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Production.......2003-09-15

The singing was ok when it was understandable, but the production, engineering and over all work is poor quality. There is no over all hooks to grab you. The music is disorganised and incomplete and even has a old disco song that you know wasn't sang by the group and the video from this group is very amateur the worst. Only one song is ok but like I said it sounds like it was never finished.

5 out of 5 stars A nice change from the usual.......2006-02-28

Ive read a few reviews and altho 1 wasnt very good, Im glad I got this album anyway, This is no way ' dad rock'. Its dark, dancy it rocks and its a really good listen, loads of fun. This may sound cliche' but different tracks appeal to me on different days, theres something for every mood. "Need you Now" is an upbeat tune about missing someone, its fun and sounds great while driving(infact if I had a convertible,Id be riding topside waving my hands in the air singing along).. no REALLY.

"King of the Wierdos" pokes a lil fun w/ a touch of seriousness on what its like to be a loner. "Man Called Marco" is a dark brooding instumental tune Ive heard years ago and some strange way the words Mantra2 have added to it fit like a glove. I get the feeling of a massive ancient ship on the sea...I really love this one.

"Chant" has a familiar track on it, you gotta hear it - its an AWESOME dance style track, plus you can hear its their signature song. "Show Me" Aww very romantic sorta accoustic feel on this one. This guy isnt afraid to show his feelings a bit, but its not overly moooshy. Its real.

OK one more track "Pick me up" This one has me swayin back and forth ,clappin my hands with a few mates along side me,head nodding along to the beat.
OK ONE more, Ive heard the ol version of Werewolves but I TRULY LOVE whats been done on this one! Its very different, very new age & ROCKS right outta the box & still remains 'dark'.

I highly recommend this CD, especially if you like a lil bit of dance, rock, goth, new age/post punk.. In fact my speakers arent loud enough !!

5 out of 5 stars 5 Stars 4 Mantra 2.......2005-03-04

I've just received Mantra 2's CD, and I've got to say that it sounds fantastic. My favorite songs are "Need You Now" and "Chant Mantra 2". There are several other great songs too, such as the remake of "Werewolves of London" and the title track "This is Called Fantasy". This album is full of wonderfully diverse songs and should not be missed.

4 out of 5 stars This Is Called Unique.......2005-02-24

Listen no further than the title cut, "Chant (Mantra 2)", and you can't help but realize that Matthew Alexander (aka Mantra 2) has a musical sensibility that doesn't fit into any conventional genre. Am I surprised? No, because This Is Called Fantasy reflects years of cross-fertilization between the music of the 80s and the 2000s, between the music of Adam Ant, Warren Zevon, and, say, Amfibian. What you hear, in short, is something you won't hear anywhere else.
