Product Description
The compilation gathers 17 tracks in one cd which goes off the beaten track, through new sounds and remains also clean and terse. Soon after we hit the play button, we will be hosted by a tasteful break beat signed EC1M, for meeting after that a sinister and driving tech-house, Joakim and the track 'Come Into My Kitchen'. Already well known, the track 'Don't See the Point' produced by Alex Smoke discretely makes its appearance, bringing some color and melody to the mix, following after that to discover another tune which did it great on the tech-house scene, 'Soul Trader', a song coming from Bill Payer and Fat Hippy. In a little while we find an excellent tune from St Plomb, and lately the extraordinary Paolo Mojo's 'Crack House', a very dynamic and massive track which won't let you sit for at least a single moment. From here the real mix starts to flow, the track start to agglomerate, to become more and more driving and playful, providing to the listener a good reprise of real music mixed in a slickly way, with a complete and innovative technique. Therefore some dement tunes burst out, as 'Pop Locking' produced by Fries & Bridges or Joe Montana with the track 'Boys', remixed by the two heretics. The things are very good until now, the unbound rhythm becoming more and more acid and kicking, making us move and firing up the dance floor. After this follows Begginerz with the track called 'Rhythm Foundation (Buick Project mix)', another great tech-house with some smooth flavors of electro and some very gradate effects. The track 'Don't Bother Me' coming from The Glass sweetens up the mix providing some nice melody, not only from the ingeniously composed instrumental, but also from a sublime vocal, and Dj Ali amplifies this cheerfulness with his track, giving a relaxing air to the compilation and making it playful and dense. An excellent track comes up next, 'Smell of Sweat', produced by Voltique, profundity in the melodic line, a spark of energy and a powerful and alive beat. The duo Cass & Slide is here too with a great tune, pretty simple but featuring an impressive dynamism with a unique rhythm and a few shades of melody gorgeously faded on the techy grooves pattern. Induceve and the track 'Ooo Yessir' provides a fresh beat, combining a dynamic tech-house with some relaxing and jazzy breakdowns. After that we find Lee Buridge in a very good shape alongside Andy Page, producing together 'Why Are The Pretty Ones Always Insane?', a strange tune with many abstract and dubious synths which perfectly combines with a heavy break beat coming from Groovy. And the track which closes up the compilation is called 'Kill Rock n Roll (Let it Bleed)' and is produced by Dibaba; an excellent tech-house combined with minimal, one of the best tunes from the entire compilation, coming with a fresh wave of synths and deep beats. Sabotage. 2005.

Sixth in a series of never-quite-the-same recordings from Michael Cretu, the Bucharest-born electronic musician/studio wiz known as Enigma, A Posteriori has the capacity to delight one camp of Enigma devotees while it perplexes another. Less overtly sensual than earlier recordings and devoid of female singers in lead-vocalist roles (no Ruth-Ann, no Sandra), A Posteriori nevertheless stands as a worthwhile recording that at its best moments handsomely displays Cretu's talents for effective songcraft and imaginative sound design. The 54-minute disc--an ode to science and discovery rather than brainy erotica--launches with two impressive instrumentals, "Eppur Si Muove" ("and yet it does move," a phrase attributed to Galileo following his heresy conviction for asserting that the earth rotates around the sun) and "Feel Me Heaven," gorgeous tracks that are part audio space probes, part pulsing Euro electronica. Momentum wanes (or chills) until Cretu strings together a series of tracks that use a heady amalgam of ambient, techno, dance, and rock textures: "Hello and Welcome," "20,000 Miles Over the Sea," "Sitting on the Moon," and the dense, edgy "The Alchemist," which evokes notions of a 21st-century version of Ultravox. "Moon" stands out in particular, guided by a subtle pop melody that exudes the gentle irresistibility of Dido's best work. Cretu wisely limits (or eliminates) the use of Gregorian chants and ethnic voices, once-fresh ideas now demoted to gimmickry. He lets his own voice, a raspy take on Peter Gabriel, carry this disc's three vocal-driven tracks to mixed effect. While not everything glitters here, enough does that A Posteriori warrants investigation by earnestly inquisitive Enigma followers. --Terry Wood

There are no black holes in Enigma's musical universe. Nothing ever just vanishes here. It's been 16 years since October 1st 1990, when Enigma's debut, "Sadeness Part 1," rocked the earthly airwaves and hit the top of the charts with sounds the planet had never heard. All of a sudden Enigma was no longer a UFO but the most famous spaceship of world music - and the music world. On September 22nd, 2006 A Posteriori, the sixth album of Michael Cretu's Enigma project was released.
You can get an idea of where A Posteriori is heading from song titles such as "Dreaming Of Andromeda," "Message From Io" and "Goodbye Milky Way." It takes you on a voyage through a multilayered soundscape, to the limits of your sonic experience, but always stays true to the essence of Enigma. The album will carry any hitch-hiker along to explore extraordinary new galaxies aboard the sound-ship Enigma. There is also the overture that, as on the five predecessors, welcomes the listener to Enigma's latest album, before creating the first tonal Fata Morgana 30 seconds later. Wafting through a soft carpet of sound come mysterious voices suggestive of power, shouting something Latin into this new sound-spherea sphere where A Posteriori will linger. Enigma once again create associative sound-signals that embed themselves in your head forever like a mental tattoo.

I was taken away from this planet........2007-07-06
Enigma has a great pro: Takes its escence of its music, while blends it with fresh beats and sounds. This work shows great traces of soft and aggresive electronica blended with an "outer space" atmosphere. When I listened to the CD, I felt taken to somewhere next to the moon, looking at the stars and the Earth in front (possibly most of the track titles would push me into that thought). Enigma evolved for the good through time, and this is the product. Song like "Good bye Milky Way", "Dreaming of Andromeda" and "Northen Lights" would relax yourself and feel great emotions; while "Dancing with Mephisto" and "Feel me Heaven", would give you a great blast with a little more agrresive electronica and faster beats. Something I would have prefered is a different picture for the CD cover, I think I would be great a great space picture of a nebula, the Pleyades, a supernova or something; but anyways, after listening to this, that will be the last thing you might be thinking about. Great job Michael!
Nice to chill out with.......2007-07-05
I am an Enigma-holic who owns all the albums and love them all. As a musician myself I'm always searching for the ultimate unique musical experience and "A Posteriori" is awesome. As a whole the ambient spacey grooves here tend to be more similar from track to track and never change much dynamically or tempo wise - they tend to put the listener into a hypnotic trance and that is a good thing when you want that type of feeling.

Enigma's comeback.......2007-07-02
1st album of Enigma was a masterpiece. Second was not as good, but great. The rest were not worth listening to (in my opinion). After about 15 years of producing, frankly, junk Cretu is back with a new album I enjoy and listen to a lot. It is not the classic Enigma - this horse has been beaten to death already - but rather a new, more electronic direction with some Enigma sounds and hints. I think this is the right direction for Cretu - there simply will never be another "MCMXC A.D.". This album proves that he does not need another "MCMXC A.D." to give his fans wonderful music to listen to. Cretu should go and explore new worlds - we all know he can!
Enigma.......2007-06-02
Love them or hate them Enigma has a sound all of there own. I never tire of listening to their unique sounds that give me a great sense of relaxation.
Lost in Space without female vocals........2007-05-15
Not bad instrumental, but this CD has the fewest vocals/ lyrics of any of Enigma releases. You hear Michael Cretu's voice like twice. What made enigma exotic sounding were the female vocals. This CD is obscure and devoid of them, maybe a hint in track 4. His wife Sandra didn't make this release. Nor did Ruth-Ann Boyle whom vocals were behind Gravity of Love and Follow the Sun was also neglected. Voyageur was shocking to be sort of folksy, but after a couple plays, it was pretty magical. Voyageur had one top tier track (hits) and a couple of 2nd tier tracks (good to replay). Every other release had 1-2 top tier tracks and a bunch of 2nd tier tacks. A Posteriori is filled with 3nd tier tracks (background music) and one or two 2nd tier tracks.
This CD does sound like you are tripping in outer space, but not as ambient as The Thrillerseeker: "Synaesthesia" nor as exotic as before. Cretu is the master of difference types of instrumentals and effects, but this CD felt like he was just messing around on a sympathizer and didn't have the varies as his other releases. Sound like he morphed some of his previous tracks here, but that is true to most of them.
As a fan of Enigma with pretty much all his CDs, even the lesser "Invisible Man", I'll be waiting another 3 years for it next release. This is my least favorite CD of the series, but would not pass on any of them. Hopefully, Cretu include more vocals next time. I will use this CD for background music like Thievery Corporation: Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi.

better than expected.......2007-05-13
i thought these guys were just a one hit wonder with "tainted love" but they actually had two other decent 80's esque songs, "sex dwarf" and "chips on my shoulder". i only have one problem regarding "tainted love". i been trying to look for a perfect radio version of the song, the radio version on this cd is too short and the original is too long. if they could make a strapped down version and cut out some of the instrumentral in the middle of the song, we might have a perfect song.
needless to say, a fairly decent cd, worth picking up if you are an 80's fan

It's like a walk in the Soho District for your ears!.......2007-03-12
One of the best 80's CDs I've bought yet! Would highly recommend as an indispensable addition to your 80's or Brit Rock library!
I Thought I Was The Only One To Discover This Treasure.......2006-02-16
Omly one person that reviewed this CD liked "Tainted Love" exclusively. Another surprise in a list of surprises from others reaction to this CD. I always wonder why their greatest hits packages only contain a few songs from this CD until I realized you would have to include the whole thing to satisfy fans. Therefore it is much better to load the greatest hits packages with more obscure songs from other releases, highlights from less consistent CD's, along with unreleased songs, if possible. Then fans can buy a greatest hits CD and this one and get a complete collection of Soft Cell's music, which stands with the best from any group. Their magic comes in that their music takes you into their world and even though it is filled with depression and futility it is exciting when you observe it rather than experience it. I can easily listen to this CD from beginning to end, but I do have a slightly different view of this CD, than others that reviewed it. I still love it to death, but to me "Sex Dwarf" is entertaining only because of the lyrics, and is, to me, the least musical song on the CD. I also find "Secret Life" to be a highlight among a CD of highlights. It is 3 in the afternoon now so I do have to get up sometime. I better start drinking so I can get rid of this hangover and face the same miserable people I hangout with everyday. A truly unique set of fun music.
Classic Synth Pop album!.......2005-10-27
Most people know Soft Cell for Tainted Love but they had so many more songs that were just as good if not better than Tainted Love. Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is the classic synth pop/new wave album Tainted Love comes off of but the album contains such cult hits as Sex Dwarf (my favorite as I heard it thousands of times on LIVE 105 in San Francisco in the 80's and into the 90's), Seedy Films which was recently remade by the DMX Krew (they did a really upbeat version while the whole Electroclash sound was happening), Bedsitter and Say Hello Wave Goodbye. Of course this album also contains the extended version of Tainted Love with Where Did Our Love Go. An excellent version worth listening to over and over again. I think this album is underrated given the fact that Tainted Love has been such a HUGE hit the rest of the tracks on here should be given the same praise as Tainted Love has. Excellent release and worth owning and adding to any 80's collection.

Rahhhhh.......2005-04-20
This album is well good. Sex Dwarf is hilarious and well funky. Should be included on more "best of" lists and that kind of silliness. They'd be less silly were it on there, obviously. I am also partial to the cut Chip on My Shoulder, normally considered a mediocre one. Ball went on to be a bit annoying in The Grid.

It can't be called Lounge music.......2006-07-24
Any music that uses electronic beats as the backbone of the music and not as something to supplement and adorn organic beats & rhythms should never be considered as "Lounge Music"
Enough said
good, but not exactly what I call erotic.......2006-02-11
I agree with Samuel. It's nice lounge music, but doesn't create the mood you imagine lookin gat the cover. too many synthesizer/dance beat tracks. Nusound does a better job delivering the erotic lounge music
Erotic Lounge Definitely Delivers the Lounge ... Other Part of Title Up to You :-).......2006-02-01
"Lounge" is a term often over-used in compilations these days. Some people wil slap that label on anything with a beat (that's not hard trance) or anything remotely soft (New Age/meditative or World music is NOT necessarily 'lounge' or 'chill.')
But in the case of this collection - they actually have labeled and named it correctly!
As for the "Erotic" portion, these CD's will definitely help with the right person(s) in the room ... just like listening to Barry White by yourself - in a blizzard - inside a Greyhound bus station in Fairbank, Alaska may not help you much, these CD's deliver on the promise of great 'lounge' music - the rest is up to you :-)
There are four in the series so far. They are all excellent with only a few tracks not up to par on each set so you can't really go wrong but there are differences.
EROTIC LOUNGE: The first is the softest of them all with lots of minimalist lounge. A perfect CD to end your evening or the first CD in the morning.
EROTIC LOUNGE - DELUXE EDITION: It's exactly what a 'lounge' CD should be - full of chill beats backed by light jazz beats or bossa nova-like beats. If anyone wants to know what 'lounge' should sound like - this CD pretty much encapsulates what it should be.
EROTIC LOUNGE - SENSUAL PASSION: Along with great 'lounge' tracks, they pick up a beat a bit with tracks that go into trance chill or trip hop - again, all tasteful, fun and aptly cool. On the slightly exotica tracks, they veer from bossa nova to light samba.
EROTIC LOUNGE - BARE JEWELS: This is the least lounge of the collection with most tracks really more trip hop, light trance or melodic acid jazz - nothing wrong with - still a great collection of tracks - just so you know exactly what you're getting.
So whatever the mood you want to set - from 'lounge' where you can easily converse over the instrumental tracks to tracks that will get you in the mood for a fun samba or tracks to lead to you to the bedroom - they're all here. Pick and choose or get them all - you can't go wrong with this series, so far, they're all great.
And hey, the CD cover alone is worth a star :-)
RELAX IN TE CAR.......2005-10-10
THIS CD IS FANTASTIC FOR LISTENING WHEN YOU DRIVE IN YOUR CAR, IS A VERY GOOD BUY....I RECOMENDED
Nice music, but not what is advertised.......2004-11-18
Erotic Lounge: They're half right. It's lounge music, but I wouldn't describe it as erotic. This is a nice collection of mostly instrumental, jazzy lounge music. The only problem is that they've packaged it is as being sensual and erotic. One disc is called Quick and Dirty, while the other is Slow and Lazy. Combine this with the softcore pic on the cover of a lady's legs, high heels and undies coming off, and the message is clear. But when I put the CDs in, it just seemed like your average lounge music with lots of drum machine and synthesizer tracks. And the Quick and Dirty disc is neither quick or dirty. I wouldn't call it sexually charged at all.
It's a nice collection of mostly instrumental music, but was packaged and marketed incorrectly in my opinion.

Great CD to listen to in the bedroom.......2005-12-18
I purchased this CD while on vacation in Europe and was blown away. It made every hotel my wife and I stayed in very enjoyable. It is a great CD to listen to from foreplay to finish. It is also a great CD just to throw on and enjoy while inebriated. It also has some great pictures on the inside booklet. I will be purhasing the other CD's in "the art of loungin'" set as well.

The Erotic Sessions..........2007-05-19
This is an ok compilation, nothing great or special, however it is better than a few others out there now. This is definitely a good collection of songs to play whenever you are in the mood, or to even put you in that special mood. "The Erotic Sessions" is a great companion to Sinners Lounge (The Latin Sessions), as well as the numerous Erotic Lounge compilations, but my only gripe is that some of the songs are recycled throughout these same compilations (i.e. Slow Down by Morcheeba which is also featured on the Erotic Lounge: Deluxe Edition). All things considered, this is a good compilation to have laying around to enhance those special moments, be it day or night.

Hot hot hot!.......2007-03-10
Not all the scenarios/tracks are so appealing to me, but the ones that *are* really, REALLY are. Not for minors, obviously; very explicit language and sexual content. A fairly wide variety of scenarios in here, so if you're looking for sexy listening material, you're likely to find it here. The last track is a bit shocking in that it's a consensual encounter between a brother and sister, but I only hesitate a little to say that it's one of the hottest on the disc! Highly recommended.

The name says it all.......2007-01-28
The title pretty much says it all. This music is something that one would hear at a Starbucks, or at a Hollister clothing shop. It is also music to "get busy" to. However there is one song in the collection that is beyond cheezy. I am not sure of the title but there is a guy who sounds like a bootlegged Isaac Hayes, and he keeps on repeating this phrase:"The Quite Storm". Tim Meadows, anyone?
Overall it is a decent compliation for an intimate night for two.
It's lounge but far from erotic........2006-06-22
When I was searching for some sensual music to play during intimate activities I came across the CDs entitled Erotic Lounge (there are four in this series). The covers, with pictures of women in partial undress, suggested these CDs would be the equivalent of aroma therapy for the ears. While it is good lounge music it is far from erotic. So if you plan to purchase any of the Erotic Lounge CDs expect some decent music for your next house party with just a few cuts penetrating into the bedroom music realm. Personally, I would recomment Venessa Daou (Zipless), Erotic Moods (The Very Best Of) or Esoterotica if you are looking to set an erotic mood.
Nice music, but not what's advertised.......2004-11-18
From The Girl's Dorm At JMU.......2004-06-09
Heard this first last weekend at one of the girls' dorms at James Madison University. The girl in charge of the stereo that night played this CD and described it as "the wettest" music she'd ever heard. Listening to it, the girls seemed absolutely mesmerized! My girlfriend insisted we track down a copy of our own... and I can personally attest to its effect! 'Nuff said. So spread the word! ALLISON B.

Heaven, Disco Style!.......2006-09-24
I hadn't known this existed until recently, and was very excited to finally be able to purchase The Erotic Drum Band on CD. I have owned this material on vinyl for the past 20 odd years and they had been one of my personal favorite Disco Artists. This stuff sizzles! Not your typical top 40 Disco, but if you are into the "Old School" Dance music, then you cannot let another day pass without buying this. Get it before it goes out of print!
