Put Young Buck and his mentor 50 Cent together and you get a whole lot more than the artistic equivalent of an item and a half off the dollar menu. The two of them proved it on 2004's Straight Outta Ca$hville, and it holds for Buck the World, a disc that clamps itself to the G-Unit sound even while playing yo-yo with it. "Hold On," Fitty's sole contribution here, pops with the same menacing energy that informed Ca$hville, but elsewhere Buck defects from the unit (where are four-star gangstas Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo?) in favor of mostly successful team-ups with Snoop, TI, 8Ball, Lyfe Jennings and, kind of surprisingly, Ky-Mani Marley. (And that's just naming a few--clearly, Buck's phone calls are getting returned these days.) The extra-unit collaborations sound like natural enough dabblings for the sake of musical growth, especially the sizzling soul glance-back "Haters," featuring Kokane. But even though he's eased up on the G-pedal, 50's guiding principles poke up throughout: besides their hot beats, what binds these songs is authenticity. Buck may have temporarily lost sight of the corner, but he knows how to keep it real. -Tammy La Gorce

Not the same..........2007-07-09
This album is good but not the same without that 50 influence... Buck is very talented and deserves his props though.
Young Buck- Buck The World.......2007-06-29
The first thing i want to say is that i agree with a statement another reviewer made on this album and that is that G-Unit is pretty much near death right now, but Buck can hold his own by himself. With that said, i know that many people will disagree with me, but i think this is honestly the best rap album since All Eyez On Me. I know that may be a little far fetched but this is truly the best rap album i have heard in a long time, and i really dont like rap at all, but i remain loyal to Buck. But he is about the only one left of the rappers these days that i consider to be gangsta wit his style...but at the same time he has something good to say on almost all his tracks. Buck is making music for the people that struggle, just listen to the Lyfe Jennings assisted "Buck The World" and you will see what i am saying. Buck is sayin things people can relate to, and that is why he is my favorite rapper right now, and this is my favorite rap album of the last 5 years plus. He just tore it up on this album. And the funny thing is that Strait Outta Cashville was tight to, but Buck the World blew it out the water. And the sad thing is that alot of people forgot about Buck because he took three and a half years off in between Buck the World and Strait Outta Cashville. Just look at the album sales in the first week of both albums SOC sold 230,000 and BTW sold 140,000. So there was a steep drop in sales from this album to his last. But trust me this album is definetly worth buying, there is something for everyone wheter your in the mood for the rowdy "Get Buck" or the baby making "U Aint Goin Nowhere". And of course there is the weed anthem "Puff Puff Pass". This album is far more mature than his first and this is honsestly the best rap album of the last 5 years. Dont sleep on Buck, he is the real deal. COP THIS ALBUM!!!

Buck The World....Don't Ask Me For Ish!.......2007-06-26
The G-Unit crew haven't exactly had the best of times lately. Olivia was released from G-Unit, Lloyd Banks' album all but flopped, and 50 Cent has been incognito when it comes to his next album. And with word that has actually entertained the idea of a follow-up to Tony Yayo's album is totally beyond comprehension. So for Young Buck to put out an album amid this storm is definitely ballsy to say the least. The best thing for him to do is disassociate himself from anything to do with G-Unit even though he still reps for the collective for the time being. And outside of one song with 50, Young Buck accomplishes that feat with Buck The World, a project that further validates the rapper as a true emcee and not a fly-by-night, overnight sensation like countless others. Buck hits hard from beginning to end on this album, but he must utilize outside talent from about 2/3 of the disc. Hip-Hop artists like 8Ball & MJG and Bun B ("Say It To My Face"), Snoop Dogg & Trick Daddy ("I Ain't F@cking With U!"), and TI, Young Jeezy, and Pimp C ("4 Kings") all deliver the goods for standout tracks. Lyfe Jennings brings a little soul for "Buck The World," while Latoiya Williams shows off her uniqueness for "U Ain't Going Nowhere." But Young Buck does well on his own too, rocking solo for the hard-hitting "Push Em Back," the equally forceful "Buss Yo' Head," and the 'State of the Unit' address portrayed on "Clean Up Man." Young Buck does something that 50 and Lloyd Banks couldn't do and that's release a sophomore album that is just as good as his debut CD. Buck The World is basically for the streets, and thankfully that's probably the vision Young Buck had in mind this time out.
Buck is 50's right hand man, G-Unit !!!!.......2007-06-26
In 2007, there was not much action coming from G-Unit. Yayo is still working on his late 2007 release, Lloyd Banks is contemplating his next follow up to his semi-unsecessful Rotten Apple, and 50 is obviously waiting to drop one of the most anticipated albums of the year in Curtis, on September 4th. While the Unit was busy working, Young Buck came out with his second album under G-Unit/Interscope Records.
With much anticipation from fans and the hip hop world (XXL magazines' third most anticipated album of 2007), Buck delievered with Buck the World. With collaborations from Trick Daddy, Snoop Dogg, UGK, 50 Cent, Jazze Pha, 8Ball & MJG, Young Jeezy, T.I. and Lyfe Jennings, Buck put to use his G-Unit connects.
Although his first single was "I Know You Want Me" feat. Jazze Pha, I believe that the better single was his second "Get Buck". "Get Buck" contains one of the neatest beats thats innovates marching band trumpets and tubas, with a little Gospel "Ohhhhssss". Overall it is the best track on the CD and really gets people pumped when they hear it, because the bass is insane. A real club banger, some might put it.
Buck's effort was excellent on the LP. All the tracks kept me listening and I felt hooked to each one. It was good mixture of beats that kept me thumping and then kept me thinking and relaxing. It is a great CD if you need to let some aggression out, because tracks like "Lose My Mind", "Hold on" feat 50 Cent, and "Buck the World" allow the listener to feel Buck's struggle, relate and just vibe to it. Then the tracks like "Get Buck" (Produced by Polow da Don) and "Money Good" (produced by Lil Jon)get you pumped and excited. I always feel like moving to these two songs and showing everyone that the Unit is down for life!
Buck the World is a straight 5 star LP. No getting past that. If 50's album doesn't sound better, than their is no hope for the Unit, because rumors are that Buck might be leaving after he spit a recent diss in a few bars at a hired function. (notice that Yayo and Banks aren't featured on the album)
Top 5 tracks:
1.) Get Buck
2.) Hold on feat. 50 Cent
3.) Money Good
4.) I Know You Want Me feat. Jazze Pha
5.) 4 Kings
Honorable mentions:
1.) Lose My Mind
2.) Pocket Full of Paper feat. Young Jeezy
P.S. to those that want a preview of 50, wait a few seconds after the last track to hear "Funeral Music" by 50 Cent. It is a diss track geared toward Cam'ron of Dipset, after he made a few comments towards 50, that 50 didn't appreciate too much. I don't think it will appear on Curtis, but it is a pretty hot track.
Go and cop Buck the World now, you won't regret it.
G-Unit !!!!!!!!!
615 Representing.......2007-05-21
First things first, I, in no way, like G-Unit as a rap group, a clique, a family, or whatever. My biases against them wouldn't let me check out "Straight Outta Cashville", Young Buck's first solo album. I usually check any artist coming straight outta Tennessee, because it's my state. I wasn't feeling "Let Me In", or whatever it was called, and "Shorty Wanna Ride With Me" either. Then this year, "Buck The World" drops with little to no hype, and honestly, I was curious as to how it sounded. "I Know You Want Me" got no attention from me, but the rest of the album came as a pleasant surprise.
The opener, "Push Em Back", will get you hyped up in no time. "Say It To My Face" features Bun B and Eightball & MJG. It's a tight track with excellent production and good verses from all guests. "I Ain't F******* Wit U" is a cut dedicated to snitches. Snoop Dogg and Trick Daddy come in to drop their verses, and the smooth singing by _____ provides for a good chorus. "Buck The World" is definitely one of my favorites. Lyfe Jennings gives the listener a powerful chorus, and Buck gets a little introspective but still keeps it gangsta. "Slow Ya Role" speaks on growing up too fast. On paper, a Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and Young Buck collaboration would sound bad, but Bennington lays down a nice backdrop to Buck's chorus and lends a nice bridge. It's another stand-out. "Haters" features Kokane and is another track where Buck goes hard at whoever his adversary's may be. The beat and chorus are both excellent. "Hold On" featuring 50 cent is catchy as hell. "Puff Puff Pass" is self-explanatory. I usually don't like songs commemorating reefer, but this has such a good vibe and sound to it that you can't help but listen. "4 Kings" has been out for awhile but it still bumps. "Lose My Mind" is an excellent way to close out the album (if you forget the bonus track). Buck yells out his feelings over the beat. This is the perfect song to listen to when you've had it with the world.
There are plenty of good cuts here, but there are also some throwaways. "Buss Yo Head" may energize some people, but it sounds rehashed. It's simple and is used strictly for filler. I may get hated for this, but I also do not like "Get Buck". In some way it comes off as boring to me. However, I do think it was a good choice for a single. "Pocket Full Of Paper" is ruined by Young Jeezy. "U Ain't Goin Nowhere" featuring LaToiya Williams is lackluster. "Money Good" is also pretty self explanatory. Yes, we know your money is good. "I Know U Want Me" is a supbar single that lacks substance. It's no wonder it didn't get much play (atleast not here in Kentucky).
Those mentioned above don't make the cut, but it's still a solid album. I'm glad I decided to check it out, for it is atleast worth a download. If you remotely like G-Unit or southern Hip-Hop, you'll appreciate the disc entirely. If you're not really into those that much, you'll still appreciate hits like "Slow Ya Role", "Buck the World", "Lose My Mind", and "Haters". Overall "Buck the World" is an enjoyable listen and offers something to everybody.

Great buy.......2007-07-09
This cd is one of the best cd's I've ever heard. Timbaland's beats cant be replaced, magoo's gritty voice and timabland's hooks are great together. Mix in ginuine, missy, playa, and aaliyah...and the album is complete. My favorite songs are Man Undercover (by Aaliyah), Up jumps the Boogie Remix, Smoke In The Air (Playa) and Joy (Playa and Ginuwine.) This album is definitly worth your money. I love it!!!!!!!!
The Foundation.......2007-02-27
From the hypnotizing charm to the raw lyrics this cd is SOLID. It's got staying power and demands respect from your ears...I am SO glad I finally got my own copy!
One of Hip Hop's Most Innovative Albums...a landmark production.......2005-09-11
Back in 1997, Timbaland and Magoo came out with their classic cd, Welcome to our World. The reason that makes this one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, is the creative production. Timbaland created beats that no one has ever heard anything like before. His use of off-beat off-drum patterns alond with funky keyboards, synths and guitar licks, made this joint out of VA a straight up classic. Also, a lot of people didn't like Magoo's flow or lyrics, but Magoo is one of the most creative emcee's out there. His flow and use of creative worldplay and punchlines makes him a dangerous emcee on the mic. Alot of mc's out there couldnt touch Magoo. Great lrycism and production of a timeless classic in hip hop.
Love the 'Up Jumps' Remix..........2004-09-08
...actually the stripped down version of the original with a cricket chirping rhythm, a deconstructed Rod Temperton keyboard riff, an offal spouting Magoo, a sober Timbaland and a 'gone-you-don't-know-gone-you-don't-know' Missy. Partiable today. Magic still.
One Of The Best Hip Hop Albums Of All Time.......2003-09-01
This album is so innovative and precisely produced. With beats provided by Mozart Timadeas (my favorite producer), vocals by Magoo, Missy, Playa, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, this album is a 5 out of 5. At first listen you'll be like what the heck is this, but for sure after the first listen of the whole album you'll be hooked to it. From the first track to the last. You have hip hop and R&B throughout this entire album. When you listen to the album you will notice that they were ahead of their time. After listening to the album I thought, damn, "These cats were on some tight stuff back in '97", and indeed they were. I am telling you this is one of the most creative albums ever. There is a track on the album where Timbaland just talks over the beat and you actually rock to it. I love the whole album, but my favorite tracks are Luv 2 Luv U ( both versions ), Up Jumps The Boogie ( both versions ), Joy, Man Undercover, Clock Strikes. I am a true Timbaland fan, I am down with him and the whole click, holla at ya boy!

You can say this about D12: few rap groups do a better job of straddling the line between the humorous and offensive, silly and sadistic. So when Eminem kick starts D12's sophomore effort by spewing vulgar rhymes to the tune of the adolescent "Name Game" on "Git Up," it's not entirely unexpected. But can D12 ever be considered anything other than an Eminem science project gone awry? "My Band," a pure novelty track (and this album's "Purple Pills"), addresses this question. Rather than lament the fact that nobody cares about the rest of the Em's crew, group members Proof, Kuniva, Swift, and Bizarre celebrate their obscurity while Shady himself croons a painfully catchy off-kilter hook. In fact, most of the crew's punch lines and hooks tend to be overshadowed by Him. Plus, Eminem produces a sizable chunk of the tracks, which is not necessarily a good thing considering his rhyme skills trump his beat-making skills considerably. With the exception of Mr. Proof's banging production on "Good Die Young" and Bizarre's creepy shock rap come-ons on "U R the One," D12's world sounds too much like an Eminem side project. Beat contributions by Kanye West (title cut) and Dr. Dre ("American Psycho 2") bolster the overall product, but not to the level of an Eminem solo album. --Dalton Higgins
Customer Reviews:
Alright, Devils Night Is Better .......2007-02-23
This is a good CD. Devils night is better though.
Solid Album.......2006-08-08
I thought this was a pretty solid album overall. I agree that it does sound like the quintessential eminem-laced lp, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Of course there are the standard novelty tracks like My Band, but there are also some more developed cuts such as "keep talkin'" and "good die young." The latter track in specific is a very mature piece. The verse spit by Kuniva alone is nothing short of a masterpiece and proves, once again, that he is a highly underrated emcee. In the end, the album was a bit lacking in the instrumental department. I think some live instruments would have done a better job highlighting the nice flow that D12 has.
Better Than I Originally Thought.......2006-08-03
at first when I bought this I thought, wow these guys made something not worth listening to. after a few listens, some songs really grew on me, and now I listen to some cuts on a regular basis and as a whole this is a good album, far from garbage like I originally thought.
first off, the single "my band" is d12's original style. if you don't like it then it's probably because everyone knows it or you don't like that kind of music, in which case you shouldn't be listening to rap in the first place. "40 oz" is the next single, and that song is FIRE from everyone. proof even outshines eminem on the last verse.
the rest of the songs range from decent to good. the song "bugz 97" is a skit with bugz freestyling, and it's a hot verse. bugz could have been on proof's level if he wasn't shot (r.i.p.).
overall a good album, eminem's production is really nice. the only thing that disappointed me was the kanye west track "d12 world" which wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
4/5 stars, r.i.p. proof.
3.5 Really.......2006-06-26
There debut was actually great and fun to listen to and this album is okay at best. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of great songs on here like "Keep Talking","How Come","40 Oz." and "American Psycho II. The rest are average but this is my opinion and should not make any difference because if you are a fan then this might be just as good as Devils Night for you but D12 World was a disappointed release for me. It is worth having in your collection if you are a fan of rap if not then stay away.
A World With Some Dark Spots (3.5 stars).......2006-06-21
Eminem's group Dirty Dozen aka D12 (Eminem, Bizarre, Proof, Swifty, Kuniva, Kon Artis aka Mr. Porter) has had many joy times and many sad times throughout their career. With their most recent album D12 World, they were out again to show that they wern't just a sideshow to Eminem.
The album starts off on a strong point, with the songs "Git Up" and "Loyality". "40oz" would be another strong song, as it seems like their loud and club type songs would be their most sucessful. The Group also keeps their normal style of rapping on subjects that many people are used to such as "B***h" and "Get My Gun". "How Come" would be their second single, and I as of many people have an idea that it's dedicated to an old frined Royce The 5'9".
There are many parts of this album that the group falls flat when trying to impress an entire audience. "My Band" might have been aimed to impress listeners MTV wise, but fails miserably (seeing that was the first single). Bizarre would get his cut on a solo "Just Like U" with his perverted rhymes...shouldn't be suprising comming from him. "Leave Dat Boy Alone" is suffered by the singing of Eminem with a southern accent which sounds pathetic. The bonus song "Keep Talkin" just sounds completely terrible.
Two touching songs are towards the end of the album. "Bugz '97" is a rhyme that has late D12 member Bugz rhyming (possibly something they found digging in the crates), as the next track "Good Die Young" would be a song dedicated to him. The song hits even harder today because of the recent murder of member Proof who says "It ain't never late in the game, Satan remains/ with a grudge to see slugs break through my frame/ My heart aches with the pain, the light limits breath/ We gotta have fun now, there's only minutes left...," Damn...
Overall It's a decent sophomore album that D12 has made. It suffers some low points as well as it collects some high points. I recommend this to D12 fans, becuase they'll love it more than normal Eminem fans. It's glad to see that all members (including Bugz) were involved in this project. If you enjoyed this, I recommend that you search for D12 very frist album The Underground EP.
Rest In Peace Proof and Bugz

He's one of the most distinctive MCs around--he's taller, has funkier dreads, has great taste in samples (the Knight Rider theme), has a sense of history ("Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check" comes right from the Sugarhill Gang), and ooh, that growl. Ever since his days in Leaders of the New School--let's trace it back to his contribution to A Tribe Called Quest's classic posse cut "Scenario"--Busta's brought something special to the party. It's all there on Extinction Level Event: there's the Armageddon concept, the guest stars (Janet Jackson, Mystikal, Ozzy Osbourne), and a great soundscape to frame Busta's raps. Still, it feels like something's missing: there's no huge standout hit; the production, in the hands of someone like Timbaland, could be even better; and Busta's raps often feel like he's relying more on that voice rather than writing anything new. But it's hard to fault someone who, even with all his success, includes a skit where the B-boy gets reprimanded with the line, "Look, you played-out player, I don't need you--I got a vibrator." --Randy Silver

This is the Busta Rhymes I remember.......2007-01-09
I know a lot of people are going to catch flack with me for saying this but this is Busta Rhymes best effort since The Coming. Busta Rhymes was a lot better as the schizophrenic MC we know and love and not this cookie cutter rapper we here now(talking about guns and drugs. WTF for?) Busta's crazy flow would keep you hanging on every word as the awesome production literally would make you "Break Your neck". Standout tracks:EVERYBODY RISE, WHERE WE ARE ABOUT TO TAKE IT, TEAR DA ROOF OFF, AGAINST ALL ODDS, GIMME SOME MORE, IZ THEY WILDIN WIT US & GETTIN ROWDY WIT US(one of the best matchups in 1998: Busta Rhymes and Mystikal), PARTY IS GOIN ON OVER HERE, DO THE BUS A BUS, WHATS IT GONNA BE, HOT S*** MAKIN YOU BOUNCE, WHAT THE F*** YOU WANT etc. Filler: Just give to me raw and Do it to death fall short. Bottom Line: Extinction Level Event is Busta Rhymes's most consistent effort since The Coming. Busta flows smoothly or roughly on each track making it more enjoyable with each listen plus the production is crazy. Cd collection material here.

Busta Rhymes will always stay detached from any other MC in the business, defined by a fierce growl, unhinged, dark and creative music videos, and space-like beats. And although "Extinction Level (The Final World Front) remains uneven at times, with a few throwaway tracks, the standout tracks are simply outstanding, ecclectic and exhilariting. "Everybody Rise" is a bouncin', funky beat with Busta calling out to all the states, telling them lyrically to rise with him. "Where We Are About Take it" has a spacey, synth descending beat with fairly average lyrics, not yet expressing Busta's musical genius. The self-titled song has a catchy chorus, and to follow it up is the single "Tear Da Roof Off", an energetic, collaborative track with a raw, vibing beat that is great. "Against All Odds" is in the same vain, with the whole Flipmode Squad coming together, rapping over another funky beat. Lyrically, the next few tracks all display Busta Rhymes as a great MC, with mystical beats. However the songs themselves are simply not very memorable. "Gimme Some More" is the biggest hit single off the album, with an orchestral beat and Rhymes flowing quickly and sharply.
"Iz They Wildin' Wit Us & Gettin' Rowdy Wit Us?" is quite simply a boisterous rap expression, with Mystikal guest starring. Both rappers are flowing at astounding speeds, and the track stands out strongly on the album. "Do The Bus A Bus" is one of Busta's ludicrous singles, but it is catchy. Groovy Hip Hop seems to be the theme of the album at this point, as Janet Jackson joins Busta in a collaboration, and "Hot Sh*t Makin' Ya Bounce" has a very laid-back, stylish beat with sensational lyrics. The last few tracks are less memorable, except the sampling of "Iron Man" in "This Means War" with Ozzy Osbourne making an appearance.
It seems people are making many subjective statements as to Busta's prime in his career, and I personally think he chose to take a new direction with each and every album. At this time, he is set to release his latest album "The Big Bang" in July of 06, featuring a great track called "I'll Hurt You" but also releasing a single called "Touch It", which is less impressive. At this time, he has officially signed to Dr. Dre and Aftermath, so he will have access to the best beats out there. Overall, I would recommend this album to any Busta fan, and if you are looking for somewhere to start, I would begin with "Genesis".

Hiphop at its best If you like hiphop Busta is really showing out on this one rapping to the beat which are good beats!

Great album........2006-11-21
Great album, but Brooks Buford is not on it. He left the band and has gone solo. In fact, the only connection between the Rehab of yesterday and this Rehab is Danny Boone the lead singer. I have seen them in concert like ten times in the past two years and it is pretty obvious to all real rehab fans that insinuating that brooks is on this album is pretty ridiculous.
Instead of "WALKING AWAY" COME AND GET IT!!!!.......2006-07-28
Im from elberton ga. I speak from experience these guys ROCK in concert. GEORGIA THEATRE JAN 7, 2006 IN ATHENS WAS OF THE HOOK. If you like songs about real life then check them out. If you think the way me and my friend pat feel then you'll have to check them out in concert.
Better the most!.......2006-04-24
This album is better then 90% of the music out there as far as the uniqueness and lyrics, but I feel that the Southern Discomfort album had better thought-through, deeper lyrics and I thought was overall better then Graffiti the World. Seems like they were pressured to write the songs quickly. I do like the Graffiti the World song and track 4, "Red Water". Wish they come out with an album like Southern Discomfort again. But, I'd buy any album they come out with because they are so much better then most music out there. I think lyrics are important in songs!!!
That's my $.02.
Hmmm..........2005-11-30
I'm unimpressed. The guys have great voices, but the music just isn't there. It's good, just not really _them_. I thought Cuzwecan was a great evolution from Southern, but this is just not the Rehab I love. *sob*
Kinda makes me wonder why they didn't just RELEASE the massive 2-CD Cuzwecan... seems like free money!
Good.......2005-11-16
If you like ReHab you will like this album, but if your new, their first is definately the best. If you really listen to the album you can hear "Jason Brooks" on a couple of songs even though hes not mentioned in the notes (by name anyway).
I was definately surprised/happy when I found this disk. I thought the first one was great and though this one is different, it is good to know they are continuing to make good music

Album Description
Fucked Up's first full-length studio album marks a turning point for the mysterious Toronto band, transcending the boundaries of punk with melody, aggression, expansive structures, and enigmatic diatribes on what lies under the immediate, visualized world. They combine confrontational ideologies with deliberate misinformation to produce a brutal analysis on thought provocative punk. "Ironically, their fast and sloppy early 80's hardcore is a million times more musical and ferocious than 99% of professional myspace-era mosh bands, and their fans' post-show cuts and bruises remind us that this shit might have the potential to still be dangerous" - Vice. For fans of The Wipers, Ramones, The Who, Negative Approach, Pink Floyd.

looking for gold? well, here you go!.......2007-04-24
wow. this is totally a mix of KRAUTROCK and HARDCORE PUNK ROCK. there are a few long, drawn out songs with amazing guitar melodies coupled with ferocious vocals. in addition, there plenty of three minute punk songs greatly influenced by the Undertones, Black Flag, and plenty of other amazing bands. maybe you could call them the NEUgative Approach of CANada. or shoegaze hardcore?
not to sound critical but this band is the antidote to a good amount of musical boredom that exists currently. there is nobody around that sounds like these guys and that's a great thing! whether you are an indie rock, punk, stoner, metal, or hardcore fan, this is worth checking out! cheers to Jade Tree for taking a chance on this underground sensation.
it is also worth noting that seeing this band live will convert you. ask people who were at SXSW this year when they played with Mew or when they brough Keith Morris out for a cover of "nervous breakdown".
Are you serious?.......2007-02-28
Amazing record. These guys take the vintage Dischord sound and throw in some Krautrock and blissed-out noise/psych grooves and end up with something else entirely. This album manages to be both incredibly heavy and immediate, yet very hooky and memorable at the same time. Easily one of my favorite albums of the year.
Okay, but it isn't going to change your life .......2007-02-11
While its not bad, Hidden World was certainly hyped to be a lot more than it is. After numerous listens, Hidden World has grown on me a little, but not that much. It has all the elements that I like (strong riffs, thoughtful lyrics, etc.) the album tends to bore me. I dont know whats missing, but I can tell it is not there. I hope to find more to this album as I continue to listen and try to get into it.......but I do not see myself listening to this a year from now.
Why am I bothering with new music? .......2006-12-08
I need to just deal with it; I'm old and out of touch and I think anything new that came out during the last four or five years is a big steaming dumpster load of suck and anyone who likes it must be an idiot. This sounds like a pretentious post-hardcore band with Yosemite Sam on vocals. I swear I heard him sing the lyric, "I'LL KEEL HAUL YA, YA LOW DOWN DIRTY VARMINT!" Do kids like that sort of thing nowadays? Freakin' kids.

HARDCORE AT IT'S BEST.......2005-07-08
Another A+ record from these NJ veterans. These guys have beena round since 1987 and are in a class of bands like YOUTH OF TODAY, GORILLA BISCUITS and many more from the late 80's Posi Straight Edge movement. They never quit and are still going strong and playing the same kind of music they started nearly 20 years ago! Melodic, powerful, positive hardcore. Everything this band has done is gold. One of my all time favorites, and efinetly under appreciated.
heard of vision?.......2005-05-04
this was my second vision cd,i first heard dont sound the alarm & close minded on a punk mix cd titled radical remix it came with a dave mirra bmx video game.after a while i got really into these guys they motivate me,the album is completely pure punk/hardcore i dont understand why hardly anyone has heard of vision.i really like ,predictable, dont sound the alarm, close minded.i cant really pick favorites with this cd most all the tracks are awesome.i would call one of punkrock's best but hardly anyone knows they exist.
Excellent!!!.......2004-01-27
Watching the World Burn is truly one of the finest punk albums in existence. You'd be insane if you didn't give this 5 stars! If you consider yourself a fan of punk music then definately buy this CD! I mean seriously this is a CD you don't have to skip tracks on! How much more could you ask for? Cheap price perhaps? You bet, get it used. A must buy for any TRUE punk fan! From begining to end this is easily golden. The first song is about only wanting to listen to punk. They go off into some immature "you can't tell me what to do" stance of toddler but it is entertaining and this entire CD keeps your attention and is fun to listen to.
HowCanAny sane punk/hardcore fan give this less than 5stars.......2002-03-08
Vision is hands down the most underrated punk or hardcore band in all of history. No questions asked. Because barely anybody has heard of them. Yet whenever I play them for ANY punk or hardcore fan they always love it! In fact it is now my second favorite underground punk CD! I immediately wanted this CD after hearing the song "Close Minded" on Punk-o-Rama vol 5. "Close Minded" was a moderately fast awesome punk song about only wanting to listen to punk. The rest of the CD sounds pretty different and is more like fast and hard hardcore punk. They actually have a pretty original sound. However, this does not mean "Close Minded" fans might not like it. Because if you like punk or hardcore in general you WILL like this. It's so amazing, how can you not?
However, I have to admit the lyrics caught me pretty off guard. Since it is a punk CD I expected most of the songs to be political. However it turns out, the only 2 political songs on here are "Lighting the Fuse" and "Beggars and Gentry". He seems to sing more about his life and friends than anything else. There's betrayal on "Now I bleed". There a song about forgiving each other on "Wipe the Slate Clean". Or just plain bad friendships on "Try", "Searching for Slugged" and "The Problem is You". There is even non friendship life topics on "Predictable" and "Don't Sound the Alarm". Which are about monotony and secrets. I was originally disappointed with these lyrics but I wasn't really giving them a chance. I realized that they are a lot like my life, and I like it. However just in case you are wondering "From Father To Son" is not really a song. It's just his father giving him a lecture. I personally think it should have just been a hidden track or not have been put on the CD in the first place.
My personal favorites (other than "Close Minded of course) are "No Compromise" and "Lighting the Fuse". "No Compromise" is a very fast hard hitting hardcore song that is about how they do their music the way they want to and only them. "Lighting the Fuse" has fantastic guitar work and is actually the song the CD is named after. This is because the chorus goes "Turn on the news. Lighting the fuse. Watching the world just burn". And well, "Watching the World Burn" is the name of the CD. I also like "Effigy" a lot. My least favorite would have to be "Beggars and Gentry". It sounds a little Zeke influenced ehh? I hate Zeke by the way. So overall, even though it took a long time to get a hold of this CD it was definitely well worth the wait. Peace.
coolest underground album of the year,.......2001-10-02
a pure adrenaline rush from the first to the last song!!!what an amazing vibe this album has...when its over you need to hear it again and again....this album should be a must if you listen to bands like rancid, offspring, green day,pennywise...etc.

Face Is Unfadeable On This Joint.......2007-05-16
Scarface is one of those rappers that helped define an era of gangsta rap. He is a huge part of the Rap-A-Lot legacy. The World Is Yours from 1993, is one of the hardest albums from this legendary label. The beats slap with that southern hard core melodic early 90's G-Funk inspired horrorcore from the likes of N.O. Joe, James Smith, John Bido, and Scarface himself, with Mike Dean adding some additional mixing. Scarface's raps are laced with relentless mainy flows showing that the 5th Ward ain't nathan to mess wit. "Lettin' Em Know," "Comin' Agg," "Dying With Your Boots On," "He's Dead" among many others need no description, for the title tells all, simply put, angry gangbangin' over bass heavy slap. "Now I Feel Ya" is different though, a nice laidback softer G-Funk beat giving homage to those who helped him come up in life and who gave him game to realize where he was heading in life and to change it for the better. "Funky Lil Aggin" is o.k.; it showcases a youngster named 2 Low who would release his only solo joint Funky Lil Brotha later that year (1993); the beat is funky and twangy, and 2 Low's flow is good and hardcore. One of my favorites is "You Don't Hear Me Doe." The beat is melodic in the vein of early Compton's Most Wanted, but of course with a tangy southern lowrider G-Funk style beat. The beat is awesome, and Face spits fire like a tech, makin it known he ain't playin.' Overall, a bangin' classic that took Scarface and Rap-A-Lot to a whole nother level. Houston is home to Face, and many of my favorite rappers of all time; albums like this cement such sentiments!
The world is his!.......2007-01-16
I have always been a fan of Scarface since his first album. His aggressive stlye of rapping plus the social commentary puts him above the average rapper from the south. This second album has a lot of gems in it which are COMIN AGG, THE WALL, LETTIN EM KNOW, LET ME ROLL, YOU DONT HEAR ME DOE, DYING WITH YOUR BOOTS ON, NOW IF FEEL YA(deep old school classic), MR SCARFACE PART 3 FINAL CHAPTHER, HE'S DEAD and IM BLACK(deep record about police brutality). Filler: Still that n***a, Strictly For The Funk Lovers(stupid filler wher they pretty much say doodoochaser all over the record) and Funky Lil N***a(the little boy so wack its sidesplitting hilarious. Bottom Line: The World Is Yours is a classic that is that any Scarface fan will enjoy. Scarface's raps are still on point, the production was solid and he gave you a little insight on certain tracks. A definite must-have!
king of the south!.......2006-05-31
Scarface is a true emcee from the old school that can rap about any subject given to him. This ablum is dope from front ot back. It is the type of alum that you put in and just let it play without skipping not a single track. The lyrics and beats are sick. This is definitely a album for your collection.
"Mista Mista Scarface fo' the Nine-Tre'...".......2005-06-29
"The World is Yours" is Scarface's sophmore album and it is another timeless classic for Brad Jordan and Rap-A-Lot. In some ways, it's even better than his debut "Mr. Scarface is Back", especially in terms of production. The beats appear to be better than the first one, more polished - you may say clearer, more musical... Producers include Bido, James Smith (aka Prince J), NO Joe, Mike Dean and Scarface himself, and they all do a great job behind the boards. Scarface is young, hungry, agressive, hardcore. His deep voice with the Southern drawl hits you hard in the chest, yet there are a few laid-back songs, where Face's style calms down and fits the calm beats perfectly. Face is more than just a gangsta rapper, with street credibility, his lyrics are smart, intelligent, and he menages to sound mature even over the most violent songs. Scarface talks the gangsta talk, and his lyrics are full of the gangsta talk (yet on the highest level possible), but he's not afraid to adress some social issues (such as crooked cops, sniches, racism) and personal issues as well (on the all-time classic song "You Don't Hear Me Doe"). I think the only song that you'll skip is "Funky Lil' Ni***" - you get Rap A Lot's kid rapper 2 Low (maybe it was Prince J's attempt to follow Kriss Kross' success), and no Scarface on it. Stupid and filler stuff. But it doesn't take a thing from this album. I mean, I listen to "The World is Yours" these days, more than a decade after it was released and it's still rellevant, it does not sound out of date. Is there a doubt Scarface is the King of the South? How could those other new clowns claim the title Scarface owns ever since the early 90's?... Anyone who can appreciate talent and quality should love the album, and not only Dirty South rap fans. Scarface is a legend, and his early work is something you shouldn't miss. Who knows, these albums may become out of print and then you'll be left without hearing some true greatness, one of the true pioneers of Gangsta Rap.
2nd solo is another strong one.......2005-05-13
The king of the south with no doubt brings some more heat for his 2nd solo project. Filled with some hardcore gangsta songs and some of the deepest songs ever but to a beat in rap, Face does what his fans have loved him for since he broke into the game in the mid to late 80's. Not his best album to date, but like all his albums it's worthy of at least 4 stars and better than most of the rap put out now-a-days. Only one song has a guest on it (the pre-teen 2Low). Like with all his albums, not many songs; only has 12 of them, 2 are classics, 2 are ok, the other 8 are good. Production is mostly done by N.O. Joe (8 songs), Face does 2 himself, and James Smith & John Bido collaborate for 2 as well. It definitely has that down south feel to it and a must have for fans of real gangsta hip-hop and real southern rap before all this gold tooth crunk $h!+ that fills the radio waves now.

THE DEAD SHALL F*CKING RISE!!!!.......2006-09-24
Whaddaya know another really underrated awesome album. This is a pretty interesting band because as others mentioned we definitely have a supergroup on our hands. The band is Oscar Garcia doing the vox, Jesse Pintado who went to Napalm Death (is it a coincidence that once he joined ND they got A LOT better?) two guys from Morbid Angel, Dave Vincent doing the bass of course and then PETE SANDOVAL! YES! PETE IS HERE!!! Geez, that should be more than enough for you to buy this but let's get into some more details shall we?
If I had to describe this album in one word I'd call it a 'Whirlwind', 'Tornado', 'Hurricane', or any of those other natural disasters that involve air. Yes you have 16 songs and the longest is about three minutes, half of them being under two. Sorry kids, no 10-minute epic technical Opeth masterpieces of art to splooge in your pants over because this is balls to the wall AGGRESSION. I mean you all love Reign In Blood right? Well this is basically the RIB of grindcore so to speak. This is grindcore with some serious f*ckin riffs and blast beats galore. Speaking of the those, it's pretty amazing that they use it frequently but it still seems like they're placed perfectly in the songs and it just feels awesome. These guys were able to do on this record what ND were not on their first two records, which was harness the insane brutality more accurately. Yeah they had Bill Steer but I dont think he reached his potential until Carcass.
Ok so there's no solos on the album, big deal. Now I don't what that to deter some people from trying this out. Some people (well I used to as well) think that if it has no solos then it's not metal, which I've realized is a sorry-*ss excuse to dismiss something. This album alone completely shatters that argument and after just one listen I'll bet you feel the same.
So how's the vocals? INTENSE. This Oscar guy sounds like a souped-up more brutal version of Max Cavalera actually, and that's saying something considering Max aint exactly one of the Bee Gees. Yes he is doing the "yelling like I have two hearing aids" style but I like it. Like ND, they sing about left-wing political issues (like corporate take overs, animal cruelty, etc)I also love Dave's bass here, it's so crunchy and thick it's like eating Grape Nuts without milk, just check out the second track!
The only criticism one could make of this album is that is has that 'samey' feel to it but if you're a true metal fan I believe you'll be able to discern each song and really enjoy it.
My tip for this (and other albums with this problem) is to never listen to just one song from the album, always listen to the WHOLE thing to get the full effect. Hey it works for me.
I don't see any reason to dislike it if you're an extreme metal fan, another totally essential album.
Highlights - After World Obliteration, Fear of Napalm, Whirlwind Struggle, Dead Shall Rise
I'll end with some good news and bad news. The good news is that these guys just put out a new album last month and I heard it's not bad. The bad news is that Jesse actually died last August from complications with his diabetes. Rest in peace man...
Original, seminal, influential, essential, and bah-roo-tal!.......2006-06-28
Napalm Death and Bolt Thrower are often credited for being grindcore's godfathers, but Terrorizer were every bit as responsible for making and popularizing this type of music. In other words, if Napalm Death (who debuted in 1987) and Bolt Thrower (1988) planted grindcore's seeds, then Terrorizer watered them and helped them to grow and prosper. Thus, all three bands were at the root of grindcore's creation.
And Terrorizer were not only one of grindcore's first bands, they were also one of the first extreme metal supergroups. Two out of the four band members, bassist/vocalist David Vincent and drummer Pete Sandoval, would later become famous for their involvement in Morbid Angel, and guitarist Jesse Pintando was apart of Napalm Death.
All metalheads need to know the following two words: "World Downfall." This is the title of Terrorizer's first--and so far only--studio album (which was released in 1989). This disc is widely thought of as being immensely influential in the grindcore genre. In fact, it has got to be one of the most important metal albums in the history of extreme music. Terrorizer were, after all, the first American band to fuse thrash with death metal.
"World Downfall" kind of sounds like Napalm Death, circa 1987 (the "Scum" era), except these songs are longer and David's vocals are much more constipated. This record is one long, ultra-intense, giga-heavy, super fast maelstrom composed of walls of crushing guitar noise and constant, speed of light blast beats. It is so full of scorching riffs and walloping blast beats, one can't help but wonder if Jesse's fret board is smoking and Pete's bass drum is in splinters by the time the first song is done playing.
Jesse and Pete are incredibly nimble and skilled musicians. They never fall behind or get lost in the mix, and they both play an equal part in driving the songs' rhythms.
None of the songs ever cop into any kind of melody or slow tempos. Thus, when the album is over, about all the listener remembers is one long blur. But, if you listen closely, there are a few standout tracks here. "After World Obliteration" is the album opener, and since it is an onslaught of blindingly fast riffs and pounding bass drums, it sets the pace well for the rest of the songs to follow. Later, "Fear Of Napalm" is a fiery, churning steamroller, and "Corporation Pull-In" is backed by careening guitars and insane drumming. The last really memorable song is track seven, "Condemned System." Pete really gets to show off his talents, here (he goes berserk on his trapkit and creates an all-over-the-place, jackhammer rhythm.)
If you're just getting into Terrorizer (in 2006), you might not understand what the big deal is about, since there are louder bands out there nowadays. But bare in mind that "World Downfall" came before all of those bands. (Without this album, there would be virtually no grindcore as we know it, today.) So, if you've given this disc a couple of listens and you still (for whatever reason) don't get anything out of it, you should still give Terrorizer credit for being so influential. And if you're a Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, or extreme metal aficionado, there is almost no C.D. you need to buy more than this one.
REAL Grind.......2006-06-11
You shouldn't call yourself a grind fan until you listen to this album. Sure, it's the only album they ever released, but it's a landmark in the late 80's grindcore scene, like with Napalm Death, Carcass, and Repulsion. It also features members of Morbid Angel and Napalm Death as well. This is what real grind is about. Downtuned guitars, crust punk related riffs, and pure insanity. Buy or consider yourself not worthy!
AN EXCELLENT GRIND ALBUM. SEMINAL. TERRORIZER ARE REUNITING---NEW DISC ON CENTURY MEDIA!!!.......2006-01-07
Truthfully, this album is one of the illest grindcore or otherwise albums released in the history of heavy music. The lead in to After War Obliteration just kicks your @ss in, and it is on to nihility from there. I really can't verbalize how good this album is. Sandoval kills it on the drums and the riffs are hooky and superb as well. One of the greatest parts about this album is it's ability to cross over. I am not a huge fan of grindcore, I do like Napalm Death, Repulsion, Carcass, and Black Army Jacket, and LOVE intersparsed blastbeats. However, sometimes I find some grind just plain old rehashed. I mean there is a blueprint whether you would like to admit it or not. Blastbeat, poor production, and a guy shouting like he is deaf. The cool thing about this album is the rawness, it kind of reminds me of Beneath the Remains era Sepultura. You have heard grindcore like this because it has been copied, the great thing about this is it's seminal nature. It was one of the FIRST grind albums. Another cool thing is the hooky, and often groove laden aspect of this album. it just kills from start to finish. Also worth of mention is the fact that this clocks in @ just under 40 minutes which is just about the minimum length I like an album to be. The cover art is cool and makes for an excellent T shirt print. This has got to be one of the top 10 all time albums for me and would definitely be a superb specimen to represent the grind genre. It never gets old. NEVER. I got into this album only 3 months ago, and I am sort of glad I did not back in 87 instead. I feel I would have taken it for granted, as well as kept on looking for albums to match it until today. I really think that older grind is better grind and it's simplicity should not be held against today's grind. If you dig Napalm, or go out and buy this, don't sleep on Repulsion's Horrified. Relapse did a nice job on the 2 disc (the demo's are actually listenable!!!) version of thier only album with liner notes and packaging and the price is good too. These albums contain the realness and should not be slept on. GRIND!!!
human, play FAST!!!.......2005-10-14
has been in automobile since purchase from relapse. only hope that sound system loud enough to inflict its malevolence onto the unsuspecting. eloquent articulation fails. only coursing need to destroy remains.
