Editorial Reviews
Product Description
For four years, Maud Geffray and Sebastian Chenut have been organizing and reorganizing their record collection so as to better plan for and provoke the future. From DJ Morpheus of Minimal Compact and his ancestral pearls to a neo-futurist life from Electromenager, the members of N.A.K.E.D. have all contributed considerably to the breaking of genre barriers. With affirmative eclecticism, this crew cruise between TR-303s and saturated guitars; riding rock of its adolescent follies. From "Drop The Stick" by Amnesia, passing through Chicago house and the South London talents of 4Hero, this CD paints a picture of Maud and Sebastian's eclectic selections.

What are these guys? 60-something?.......2005-10-11
Pretty dang energetic for 60-something. Heck, I'm pushing 50, and I don't have that sort of energy.
Of all their work, I have to say that I like their "Naked" series the best. These guys totally rock.
Can't get enough of Golden Earring live.......2005-09-18
The guys just can't give up or slow down. Their live concerts are the best! The more they do the better they get. This CD is a little more "polished" than the previous 2 naked (live) CD's. It is allways a party at a Golden Earring concert and this CD gives you a dose of that experience. The song selection is broad. With a nice mix of ballads and faster paced song's the CD keeps you wanting more.
I can't wait for Naked IV!

Dead horrible!.......2006-01-30
What is this messy, loudass crap? Okay, you shouldn't except nothing incredible when these three clowns, tommy lee, lil kim and fred dirtst put their sh*t together. By the way, why was the funk legend George Clinton in this sh*t? He can do way better than this.
A great mixup of Styles.......2000-04-19
This one of those songs that first makes you go: like whats up with this!... and afther a while, you just hook up with it. Is got everything.. rithym, is hard enough... many ranges of voices, but with excelent mix.... the guitars and the techno stuff are well balanced... is got it for the new mellinium.....

Customer Reviews:
The complete Naked Truth!.......2004-07-23
This set includes The Naked Truth and Naked II, as well as few extra tracks. This is an acoustic live album recorded in Amsterdam, Holland. The songs work surprisingly well unplugged. You get some of the madatory fan favorites like Radar Love, Twilight Zone, Mad Love's Coming, Vanilla Queen, Going To The Run, and When The Lady Smiles, as well as a few rarities such as Madame Zou Zou (B-side of the Hold Me Now single from 1995), Murdock 9 6182, In A Bad Mood and Pouring My Heart Out Again. If you like Golden Earring, this a mandatory purchase, as is Bloody Buccaneers. If you like the Naked Truth, try out their other live albums, including the 2 disc 1999 release, Last Blast Of The Century.
Can you handle the truth?.......2001-05-27
First came their 1992 album "The Naked Truth" (70:10), an "unplugged" collection. In 1998, the album was re-released in Austria with a bonus disc (26:56) of 7 more performances, appropriately renamed "The Complete Naked Truth".
This second re-issue, titled "Fully Naked", comprises these 2 discs, plus a 3rd disc (30:19) "From The Vaults", all nicely packaged in a digipak. This disc contains 7 more live performances, plus the studio leftover "Madame Zou Zou". 3 tracks from the disc appear on the 4-disc compilation "The Devil Made Us Do It".
The recording quality of these live performances is excellent, and hearing the material in an "unplugged" fashion makes for an interesting change.
If you've missed out on picking up the first 2 releases, go straight for this 3-disc edition.

Acoustic Guitars Will Not Tame These Guys.......2007-06-13
The first "Live" Golden Earring that I was Lucky enough to hear was the band on a Bootleg LP, recorded in Germany 1969. Already, Stars in Europe for years, they had all the ingredients in place...THEY ROCKED!!!
After the Release of "Radar Love", I saw the Band, live at Winterland, San Francisco in 1974, they were Third on the Bill to 2 other groups I have since Forgotten about, Golden Earring had stolen the Show, Hands Down.
When the First Live Record came out in the Late Seventies, Punk Junk was at it's Peak and "Golden Earring Live" didn't Chart in the USA. It did really well in Europe, but America was not listening anymore, and that was a Shame, "live" is a GREAT Record from a GREAT Band.
With "Twilight Zone" all over MTV in 1984, Golden Earring was Back, bigger than ever. But, it wouldn't be until 1996 for another Live album to be Released and that was "The Naked Truth". It knocked my Socks Right off to hear the Band in all their Acoustic Glory! This Record COOKS from start to finish, it is just as Powerful as the Electric Band, George Kooymans is on FIRE, all the way through this recording. Playing Hard, Mean & Fast...this ain't no CS&N Concert! My favorite Versions of "Eight Miles High" and "Mad Love's Comin" are Right here, and not because they are 'Mild' acoustic "Un-Pulged" versions, BUT because they are the BEST Versions I have heard. The version of "Twilight Zone" featured here is also killer, there are not enough words to express just how good this one is, and this 'Expanded Edition' is the one to Buy. There are 7 more Tracks included on the Second Disk, and you need em' (Except for the Edited version of Radar Love, it's not essential).
This Band has more Fire & Energy than by most Groups who are out there and are Half the Age as these guys. This is Real Rock Performed by the Dutch Masters...FIVE STARS !!!
Listen to once and you will buy more of Golden Earring.......2006-03-23
Golden Earring is fantastic. Listen to them just once and you will be hooked. I have several C.D's and have purchased the D.V.D's too and will continue to. They are not a band that you listen to once and are bored with, their sounds sticks with you for years. In the ratings....they are actually beyond the five that I was allowed to give them.
Which Naked to buy??.......2004-11-29
The Naked Truth, Complete naked Truth and Fully Naked. Confused? Wondering which one to buy? Well, I prefer Fully Naked as it includes a few excellent versions of songs like Yellow And Blue and As Long As The Wind Blows that are better than studio. However, The Devil Made Me Do It included on Fully Naked (not the superior Naked II version) is pretty lousy. Unfortunately Fully Naked costs almost ten bucks more than The Complete Naked Truth. What to do? Well, I go for Fully Naked but only buy it if you're interested in the extra tracks, some of which are very good.
Don't buy if you already got Naked truth and Naked II.......2000-12-10
Of course, Golden Earring are the best dutch rock group especially acoustic ( all the acoustic sessions for the 1st and second quarter of 2001 are already sold out!) they didn't need to do this. the first cd is exactly the same as the edition of 1991. the extra tracks cd is very dissapointing, if you already have golden earrings second acoustics album Naked II, since two of the tracks are of that album (When the Lady Smiles and Going to The run), an alternate version of Jangalene which isn't really alternate. And an edited version of the acoustic version of Radar Love and who - for crying out loud- would like to have a 7 minutes masterpiece cut down to mere 4 minutes? That only leaves the three other tracks: Back Home, Just A little Bit Of Peace In My Heart and Don't Stop The Show. as always these tracks are greatly performed with Don't Stop the Show showing that true Rock 'n roll can be totally transferred to acoustic.
If you haven't bought the naked truth, then buy this, you get a great acoustics cd and 5 extra tracks!
If you already bought the Naked truth, then don't buy this. 5 extra songs aren't worth 20 bucks.
in case you only bought Naked II and have decided to buy naked truth as well, take this one, you'll get three extra tracks that are worth your money.
Fun album.......1999-05-24
This is a really good album, but Naked 2 is much better, with a selection that doesn't include their two US radioplay songs. You should really have both.

Underated gem from Al.......2005-08-02
This album had mixed reviews on its release. One reviewer wrote that Al's version of As The Years Go Passing By ruined one of his favourite blues songs. Silly man! It is a fantastic version. The album as a whole has a nice feel to it and it flows well. The opening track is great altho maybe Al should have redone the vocals. Jolie is a fabulous pop song. Great melody, great vocals, great playing. It is one of Al's best song and should have been a big hit. Peacock Lady has the feel of laying on a Carribean beach with palm trees swaying. It is one of the highlights of the album. John Prine's Sam Stone is also worth mentioning. Great production on it. Al has always known how to get a BIG sound and here he does not disappoint. The organ at the start of Where Were You is staggering. It will blow you away. This is not Al's best album but it is really worth buying. You won't regret it!

Customer Reviews:
Buyer Beware.......2005-12-10
I've tried ordering this title twice, and received the CD "Canada Songs" by the Daughters instead both times. I've since discovered that when you add it to your cart, it comes up as Naked Apes and Pond Life by Daughters (which still doesn't explain why I got the Canada Songs CD by Daughters). Arrgh. I've given up on ordering it until Amazon corrects it's database.
outtakes, yes, but not a bad collection.......2002-08-27
I agree with Lance Tilford; this is better than Sacred City (or anything post-Oil and Gold, really). Many of these songs have an "out there" quality that much of Shriekback's later efforts lacked (like, who thought it was a good idea to cover KC and the Sunshine Band?).
Aberrations is better though, and their best albums (Jam Science, Oil and Gold) are much better. BTW Lance, the reason Jam Science hasn't come out on CD is that the band never wanted it released as an LP. Legal disputes between band and label, in other words. At least all of Jam Science's tracks except three (Partyline, Hubris, and the non-remixed Hand on My Heart) are available on various CD compilations.
Huh? This cannot be a 'finished' record...........2001-11-28
Weak quality throughout. Even the cover art is clearly printed out on a computer printer, similar to what a good CD-R bootleg looks like. Perhaps that's the point - this album was rejected by a record label in the early '90s. Therefore, you should consider this a collection of Demos. Weak ones too...
What I loved about Shriekback was the groove and the constant edgy vibe, like mysterious sex in dark passionate places. That sounds ridiculous of course, but Shriekback made it work - their best was just that sensual and weird. 1992's 'Sacred City' was a patchy comedown from 'Big Night Music' or 'Oil & Gold', but the best moments captured the Shriekback vibe perfectly. You should check out 'Sacred City'....
You can ignore this CD. I'm amazed how flat & disjointed it sounds. Don't be misled - 7 of these 14 tracks are under 2 minutes, just instrumental jams caught on tape. They don't buffer the real songs well, and are completely dismissable. (They do make the album appear longer though.) The recording budget was clearly small, the studio time limited as well. On the positive side, there's a lot of unusual stringed instruments and ethnic percussion you don't hear on most records. That definitely helps, but Eh. "UnSong" is sly and works perfectly - this strong song will hold up well on any 'Greatest Hits' package. It makes the rest of the CD seem even slighter. Shame on you "UnSong"!
Oh cruel fate. I'm resigned to the fact a unique '80s band that was great so often will soon be forgotten. 'Naked Apes & Pond Life' won't help Shriekback's cause in the slightest. Sadly, I'll bet it's the last I hear from them. (Please prove me wrong, guys.)
Shreikback is back.......2000-05-13
Naked Apes and Pond Life is the best Shriekback project since Oil and Gold and is far better crafted than Dancing Years or Sacred City. Though Barry Andrews and Martyn Barker are the only two original Shriekers here and Carl Marsh and Dave Andrews are very much missed since bowing out after Oil and Gold, this is an exciting, melodic, deeply textured and multirhythmic return to form, not to be missed by any ardent or casual Shriekback fan. Definitely worth splurging for the import, as it's unlikely it will ever be domestic (and why has their all-time best, Jam Science, never been released on CD? Hello? Is anyone working on this?).
