About the Artist
The Artist: Actually, Dr. Von Zuko is a bit of an enigma even to those relatively few people who believe they know him quite well. Frequently characterized as "reclusive," the strange doctor has been known to spend days-on-end locked away in his semi-secret laboratory, 'The Tower of Twisted Thought.' It is here, in the sanctity of his mysterious, technology laden tower, that the doctor masterminds his numerous, funky and usually off-the-wall creations. Discovering performing arts, music, and technology in his early adolescence, Von Zuko earned his first real recognition as a guitarist, vocalist, sometime percussionist, and keyboard jockey in a fairly short list of popular rock, jazz, and even country groups. Roading' and radio play was personally enriching back then, (and a hell of a lot of fun) however it was the desire to eat regularly and live under a weather-tight roof that drove Von Zuko toward the more 'life sustaining' technologies. The rest is history! So now, submitted for your amusement and entertainment, I give you Dr. Von Zuko; "Digital artist, musician, composer, computer practitioner, and self-proclaimed amateur archeologist."

Product Description
The CD: Jambodia is the imaginary Kingdom of Ethno-Electric Rhythms, where the ancient and primal 'human musical experience' coexists and communes with 'The Now.' The Premise: While musical expression has continually evolved and become more sophisticated over countless centuries, it is still the primal instinct that influences the expression of emotion through sound. The human psyche, even in this era of enlightenment, craves the primal and multi-ethnic rhythms that stir the imagination and excites the spirit. The Description: Jambodia is best described as multi-ethnic, neo-classical, techno-electronic, funk! (Say that five times at a fast clip) The Influences: Jambodia is heavily influenced by various progressive and modern musical styles; Jazz, Trance, Techno-Industrial, Club Mix and good ole' Rock n' Roll. A sometimes subtle to frequently obvious blend of cultural rhythms and melodies created with ancient instruments and sounds that imbue a stimulating flavor to the Jambodia brew. The Track Titles: Driven by insights, experiences, and memories of exotic, mysterious places where the artist either visited or lived in over the course of two millennium.

Jambodia,Dr. Von Zuko,Zuko Records,Sexy scintillating Worldview music, Jambodia kicks it up a notch on the Richter Scale but with a lot of class. A way cool fix for the searing percussion, heavy bass junkie.

4 out of 5 stars Explorations on the Edge.......2006-10-25

I first heard a few tracks at a club in Chicago . . . asked the DJ what it was, then found it here! Certainly it's not for grandma or the fans of sedate (put you to sleep) music. This pushes the boundaries (but is really quite well done) and leverages many of the new technologies that have become so pervasive in our lives. Bottom line, I like it! It's fresh, it's creative, and has a whole lot of positive energy (as many others have pointed out).

1 out of 5 stars Clock Shop.......2006-09-17

A happy, egotistical machine; it is to music what a vibrator is to sex.

4 out of 5 stars Wicked and Cool .......2006-03-16

Don't be misled by the retro Max Headroom looking cover design! This is anything but retro or conventional! It cooks and has some truly wicked tunes on it. I found it quite impossible to force fit it into any mainstream genre. The music's got it's own style going on! Edgy, energizing, and yet quite cool and almost soothing in some strange way. I liked it a lot. Never heard of Dr. Von Zuko, but I know him now!

5 out of 5 stars A Definite Favorite.......2005-08-24

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical with straight five star reviews on Jambodia, but I do have to say Dr. Von Zuko earns them. The melodies are energizing and evocative and definitively carries an upbeat, take on the world mood. The techno-electronica flavoring on certain tracks (while very cool), almost has too much attitude for me, but none the less, I think this is a great CD and is destined to be a favorite of mine. I especially like Nan Madol, Senegal Tea, and Chichen Itza Brew. Track 8, Cahokia Sun is outstanding! So, overall I have to give the CD a five rating too! I'll be looking for more tunes from Von Zuko. I'd call his work Techno-pop, New Age crossover.

5 out of 5 stars No doubt!.......2005-04-13

This is hot! I picked it because it was high in the list. Now I know why. Check it out! It's got some awesome bass too!
