Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Decent CD.......2007-02-09

Some good tracks on here. Sunshine Highway, Poison, Beheaded, Bleeding Mascara, Yell Out, Selfish Man, Ray, Gyasi Went Home, By My Side, Dog Eared Page, all good entries. Some bad tracks too, but I won't mention Start Wearing Purple by Gogol Bordello because the song is great, and the band is great. Anyone who doesn't like Gogol Bordello has terrible taste in music and should probably kill themselves.

5 out of 5 stars Lets set the records straight........2006-05-08

I was very dissapointed to read all these BAD reviews about the Warped Tour '05 Compilation. Allow me to set the record straight. The Offspring are one of the best bands of all times, and finally recorded a track especially for this cd. Already making this one better than the previous coupies. To add, we have some of the best punk bands of the past couple decades making a come back, and a couple great new bands. To explain this, We have MXPX, who have been around forever, but justifying their taste of punk to a more mature level that anyone can appreciate. The Dropkick Murphys, quite possible the best irish punk band of all times, with their most irish influenced song they have ever released. Plain White T's have always been a thrash emo sound. Except minus the thrash a little, an put in more of a indie sound. All changes made for a changing society. As for new day bands, Fall out Boy, they won't let any of their pop/punk fans down with the catchy "Saturday". From First to Last, let's just take hardcore and turn it into a roller coaster, this song is very unpredictable, and the sound is rad. The very only thing I can say was malfunctioned in the making of this album was the Gogol Bordello song. WE all know what "Track Skip" is. Enjoy the rest of the 49 songs.

5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation.......2005-12-12

This has to be one of my favorite warped tour comps. All the songs are great except the Offspring song "Beheaded".

And for the price you cant go wrong!

2 out of 5 stars punk guy on cover, with one, maybe two punk bands of CD.......2005-12-07

yea, hmm, what can i say. justin sane, singer/guitarist from Anti-Flag on the front cover. and i think that may be george from the casulaties on the back cover. two punk bands, two good punk bands, and whats on the CD?...EMO. why advertise an emo cd with two punk people on the front and back cover? can you get any more controversial? i have to admit i do like some of the bands on the CD, good songs, good bands. i like it back in the day when there actually was punk bands on a CD that advertised punk people on the covers. if was justin sane, i'd be so ashamed to have my face on the cover of this CD. ever since last year, this CD, no tour, has gone down the drain, more and more crappier bands, and more and more controversy. whoever made this tour/CD is only looking for money and thats all he cares about, he doesn't care about the music.

3 out of 5 stars Good Bands... Bad Songs.......2005-11-05

I love almost all of the bands on here, and bought this CD with high hopes.

The chosen songs for this compilation, however, are below par. I can think of dozens more songs for almost every band that would have reflected their talent a lot better. If you're new to these bands, then you won't appreciate this album either, since only one or two of the songs are any good or do the bands justice.

If you really want a punk rock compilation, then I'd get something from the Rock Against Bush series, or Punk-O-Rama. This one really doesn't cut it, not in terms of their choice of bands, but in terms of their choice of songs.

5 out of 5 stars awesome.......2005-10-24

I spent a few weeks in Italy this summer and LOVED their radio stations. They played the best variety of american music and also european and italian music. These festivalbar compilations are the best of the best. I don't care what the price is, its worth it.

5 out of 5 stars A great CD, but this Price is awful!.......2005-09-05

This is by far one of my favourite CDs. Every song is beautiful and is worth listening to. My favourite song from both discs is James Blunt "You are Beautiful."
I bought my copy in Italy so I did not have to pay the outragous price that is asked for here, but this CD is truly a great CD. It offers a great range of music that is listened to in Italy and all of Europe. I recommend it highly.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Another brilliant release from Todd Durrant.......2006-07-23

I am rather thankful for the devotion Todd Durrant has for modern synth; this release is indeed well worth placement in your collection. From the darkwave lustre of Intricated and Pulcher Femina, whose respective releases I sought all as a result of this synth anthology to the Depeche Mode simulacrum of Perfidious Words (post-Violator era), I well-enjoyed this and the companion "State of Synthpop 2003". Of the reviewer who condemned the release I might only write that one should probably discredit his opinion as misguided.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of time/money.......2006-07-20

There's a reason that each artist on this compilation only has one song on it--it's because after you hear the song, you're going to find yourself secretly wishing you never have to listen to anything recorded by them ever again.

I'm a tolerant person, but this comp. really pushed me over the edge. In addition to being just plain bad, some of the songs were so amateur-ish that the vocals were even recorded out of tune at certain points. I gritted my teeth and listened to all 6 cds. I assure you I won't make that mistake again.

Unless I want a good laugh.

      Album Description

Soma Records move into their fifteenth year with the annual Soma Compilation. 2005 has been a vintage one for the label and the highlights have been collected and compiled on this double album. This is the first time that the label has released a mixed version of its yearly compilation and Funk D'Void has delivered a stunner. Disc one appears in the traditional unmixed format and features the best of the year. Soma favorites Slam, Funk D'Void (alongside Phil Kieran) and Silicone Soul are joined by new label artists Alex Smoke, Vector Lovers and Hystereo while remixes come courtesy of Ewan Pearson, Marc Houle, Wighnomy Brothers, Martinez, and Soul Mekanik. Sounds too good to be true? Well it is. Kicking off with Vector Lovers magical 'Tokyo Glitterati', the collection moves through Alex Smoke's sublime deep vocal excursion 'Don't See The Point' into minimal territory with Funk & Phil's 'Black Worm', Minus man Marc Houle's masterful mix of Slam's 'Kill The Pain' and the outstanding Wighnomy Brothers mix of Slam featuring Tyrone's Palmers 'This World'. A Silicone Soul triple-header follows with the pick of the remixes from their recent 'Staring Into Space' album. 'Under A Werewolf Moon' gets a revamp from man of the moment Martinez, Soul Mekanik house up 'Feeling Blue' and Ewan Pearson electro-charged dub of 'The Poisoner's Diary' is a dancefloor burner. The electro theme continues with Vector Lovers rapturous remix of Slam's Human and moves into Alex Smoke's homage to hoover techno with 'Brian's Lung'. Hystereo close the first installment with the frenzied 'Validity Revision'. Disc two is mixed by the legendary Funk D'Void and features his pick of Soma's 2005 output including Alex Smoke, Slam, Hystereo, Vector Lovers, Silicone Soul and Repeat Repeat. Also included on this mix is an exclusive new track by Funk and Phil called 'Phat Ph*ck'.
