Fever was released on a wave of publicity as the lead single, "Can't Get You out of My Head," battled on the U.K. charts with the debut effort of Spice diva Victoria Beckham--and it won spectacularly. Kylie Minogue's sound has progressed again since the disco-inspired Light Years, plundering the retro style of post-disco electro from the late 1970s and showing what might have happened if Kraftwerk had produced Donna Summer or Chic. Unlike most pop albums, or indeed pop artists, Fever is geared toward high-energy dance rather than pedestrian "I love lovin' you" ballads. Aside from the aforementioned hit single, another standout is "Give It to Me," a great piece of dance pop that has everything from Britney-style wailings to Basement Jaxx funk wrapped up with a catchy and typically suggestive chorus. The closest Minogue gets to a gentler moment is at the very end with "Burning Up," a breezy guitar progression with a laid-back melody, but it doesn't last long as the need to start dancing again takes hold and Fever breaks into some electro funk, finishing on a definite high. --David Trueman

Kylie Minogue is all around hotness! This CD alone was a soundtrack to my entire Summer when it came out! That was one hell of a great summer! ;-)

5 out of 5 stars Contagious.......2007-04-24

On the strength of her radio hit "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," Kylie Minogue had a hit album with this 2002 release. Fever is an addictive spin as Kylie offers a great collection of dance tunes filled with modern, techno beats laced with a disco groove. Her vocals drizzle with a sensuality heard before by the likes of Madonna and Debbie Harry. And the songs themselves are the perfect backdrop for your next house party, an evening of passionate romance, or working out.

4 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah...That's it...A little bit faster...yes..Yes!!!..YES!!! Oh Kylie!!!!! .......2007-04-02

Sweaty dance grooves dipped in sticky sweet sex is what you get when you put on Kylie Minogue's Fever.
"Come into my world" pants and pleads with heart poppin' button poppin' grooves.
"Love at first sight" and "Can't get you" offer up catchy poppy melodies covered in hot flaming ecstacy.
"More More More" pulsates and throbs in non stop give it to me till we explode pleasure,"Fragile" cruises along in soft delicate sensuality, and "Your Love" bounces with the climactic orgasmic high of totally falling for someone.
Fever is simply red hot and sexy and will get your bottom shakin' and your heart racing in it's effortless dance whirlwind of carnal savagery laced with a silk glove.
Buy it, do it, love it, Get the Fever.

5 out of 5 stars Musical Fever For Sure.......2007-03-07

This is a great CD. The songs feel much more modern than on Light Years but feel more 70's disco than Body Language. She creates a electric sound that will get you on the dance floor in a matter of minutes even without your concent. This is expertly crafted pop. In Your Eyes is one of the, if not the, best pop songs I've ever heard. From begining to end it's hot. An amazing CD. Don't pass up your chance to listen to this gem.

The Key Tracks Are: In Your Eyes, More More More, LOve Affair, Love at First Sight, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Give It To Me, and the bonus japan verson track Tightrope.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet spun sugary pop perfection........2007-01-09

Kylie Minogue hasn't concocted such a sweet confection since 'Fever'. I usually shun pop music like the plague, but this as some of our German friends call it 'an earworm'. It's that and a guilty pleasure, however not emabarrasing enough not to admit I own this album. It's a classic. It's Kylie Minogue's swan song.

Everyone knows her super-hit "Can't get you out of my head". That song is a piece of musical genius. You may call it formulaic but it's pop music, and good pop music. The chorus of this will ring in your ears for days after listening to it.

'CGYOMH' isn't the only gem on this disk. "Love at first sight", "Fever", "Fragile", "Give it to me", "Come into my world", "In Your Eyes" and "On The Dancefloor" are all standout tracks. That pretty much names them all. There is not one bad track on this. Kylie Minogue proved with this album that she is the queen of pop music. Her newer album 'Body Language' will be quite a disappointment if you like this. Hopefully this 2007 we'll see Kylie return to form, after battling breast cancer, bless her heart.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie At Her Best!.......2007-05-26

If I have one minor quibble, it's that I purchased these CDs along with the "Showgirl" DVD, only to realize afterward that they are two different shows. (The DVD was recorded in London and the CDs in Sydney.) As such, there are some songs on the DVD that aren't on the CD and vice versa. I know, silly complaint, but I wish all the songs were on both. The one song from the DVD that isn't on the CD that I wish was is the dramatic slow version of "Je Ne Sais Pas Porquoi." However, the CD also has some good stuff that isn't on the DVD like "Light Years/Turn It Into Love." So it's a trade-off, I suppose. What can I say, I can never get enough Kylie!

Even so, the songs included are still fantastic. She updates some songs with new arrangements (the steamy "Locomotion," "On A Night Like This" with a slow piano intro and outro, and "Spinning Around" which is mashed up with CeCe Peniston's classic hit "Finally"), while others sound almost just like the original studio versions ("Better The Devil You Know," "I Should Be So Lucky," Hand On Your Heart.") I'm a massive Kylie fan, all the way back to the SAW era, so this is right up my alley! Once I got it, I think this was the only thing I listened to for about two weeks! Definitely worth it, if you're as big a Kylie fan as I!

5 out of 5 stars great CD from a great singer.......2007-04-21

I enjoyed Kylie Minogue's TV special of the Showgirl Tour and bought that on DVD and this CD from a marketplace seller (ImportCDs). Kylie is an awesome singer, still relatively unkown in here int he US. I wish she was known because she is second behind only Madonna. But on to the CD. Kylie tops Madonna in this regard because where Madonna only offered a few songs on her "Confessions Tour" CD, Kylie gives us them all. Kylie's voice has been compared to a budgie, and she is spot on during "Showgirl Homecoming." Some higlights are "White diamond" a new song with the Scissor Sisters that is in the same vein as "I believe in you" also written by them. "Confide in Me" has an eastern vibe to it, and Kylie's singing is good. "Kids" is great with Bono, in my opinion it is better than the original with Robbie Williams, partly due to the live atmosphere and Bono's crooning. I suggest listening to the entire "Dreams" section, Kylie's singing from "Over the Rainbow" to "Dreams (Impossible Princess)" is spot on with a minimal musical backing. The homage to Madonna's "Vogue" is cool, as is the rework of "I should be so lucky." The best part is "Can't Get You Out of my Head" (here mixed with the Dr.Who theme) and the "Light Years/Turn it into Love" medley. Both songs are very spacey and synthy and shine here. The only songs I skipped listening to were "Cowboy Style" and "Too Far." Other than that, if you want a good time listening to good music from a great Aussie singer, buy this CD. Now she needs to release the concert on DVD and tour in the USA!!

*****/***** for Kylie's "Showgirl Homecoming Live."

5 out of 5 stars Great CD - Great Listening.......2007-04-10

I find that most live CDs do not make well for good listening; purchased more so for the novelty of hearing the songs performed live. But for some reason I am listening to this CD over and over for the shear listening pleasure. I am glad that this was decided to be released and any Kylie fan will need this CD. However, music fans will enjoy the music as well. Kylie really does seem to connect to a live audience and for it to come across on CD rather than DVD is fairly noteworthy.

5 out of 5 stars "Big In Japan".......2007-03-28

Being a US Kylie fan, most of my collection is imported (with the exception of the finer release of "Fever" and "Body Language") and the day that I got my hands on the this set was a great one! "Showgirl--The Homecoming Tour" is a well recorded, sung, and staged production. The sound on this set is crisp, varied, and well mastered. Kylie herself sounds great and the soundtrack is amazing. The "Temple" act is stunning and this live version of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" is killer. A definate treat is Kylie's version of "Over The Rainbow" and her medley of "Shocked/What Do I Have To Do?/Step Back In Time/Spinning Around". What Kylie fan should have this one?!

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Shines in Live Setting.......2007-03-14

Kylie Minogue left audiences concerned & waiting in mid-2005 after her cancer diagnosis. Minogue didn't disappoint fans when she stepped back onto the stage in late 2006, looking refreshed & poised for action.

Her second live record, after 1998's "Intimate & Live" record, "Showgirl-The Homecoming Tour" captures what has made Minogue the single most important euro-pop and world pop figure or influence since ABBA. Her transformative pop ability and genuinely enthused pop ethos has surpassed any disapproving critics wagging finger over the past decade.

Spread over two discs & encompassing the entire show as performed in Sydney, Australia, Minogue breezes through familiar favorites & gives them all unique transformations in a live format.

Highlights include "On A Night Like This" which opens in a ballad setting, giving the track a certain poignancy that it lacked in its studio version. The medley of "Shocked"/"What Do I Have to Do"/"Spinning Around" is a heady pop attack. It will also please longtime fans that she interpolates several minor albums cuts & singles such as "I'm Over (Dreaming Over You)", "I Guess I Like It Like That", "What Kind of Fool (Heard it All Before)" & "It's No Secret" into the medley.

Live, Kylie's voice is surprisingly strong, & carries the familiar girlish charm that it is known for. She shines on the smoky, torch rendition "The Locomotion", Kylie bends her voice on "Too Far", & soars on a new number "White Diamond."

Also of interest is the mash-up of a "Fever" cut, "Burning Up" & the rap from Madonna's 1990 house classic, "Vogue." This alone shows that the only true successor to Madonna is Kylie.

This double-live album captures Minogue at a very interesting crossroads, one that her fans will appreciate. Her formidable vocal prowess, and her embrace of all of her material across the years, shows that Minogue is ready for the next step in her musical journey. One sure to thrill all who hear it. Highly recommended.

After 16 years in the pop diva business, Kylie Minogue doesn't bother reinventing herself. Maybe that's why Body Language sounds so effortlessly appealing. Confidence permeates the record's savvy mix of modern and retro, implanting slinky tunes like "Slow" into your brain's guilty pleasure section. Aided greatly by producer Kurtis Mantronik's resourceful touch, sparse electroclash rhythms blend easily with Minogue's shrewd pop sense, milking it for maximum catchiness. True, Kylie's barely-there voice remains a weak spot, and her attempt at rap on "Secret (Take You Home)" doesn't quite work (though it's better than you might think). More often, those helium tones are put to effective use; her sighing vocal on "Chocolate" is pure, sweet decadence. Prince himself might be a little envious of how well Mantronik lays down the 1999-style electro-funk, as tracks like "Still Standing" glide along on computer soul and the singer's practiced tease. And therein lies Body Language's most impressive feat: It makes Minogue's plastic sex appeal sound not just like the most natural thing in the world, but like an honest-to-God artistic statement. --Matthew Cooke

4 out of 5 stars Sign Language needed as well as Body Language.......2007-03-19

"Body Language" was always going to be a difficult album to listen to following the previous success of Kylie Minougue's No.1 U.K. and No. 3 U.S. album, "Fever". For die hard Kylie fans, the album was fine and included the "Breaking the mould" U.K. No.1 "Slow", but interest soon dissipated after that. I thoroughly enjoyed the album, but I would be considered one of the "die hards". In the U.S. the album didn't live up the expectations of it's predecessor, which is a shame because that means it has become over-looked, sandwiched between the "Fever" album and the "Ultimate Kylie" double album. A new re-listening of the album will guarantee that you will find it more of a surprise than you thought of it before!

5 out of 5 stars Her best album.....it is a MILLION times better than Fever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-15

Forget Fever already, it WAS a good album, but Listen to Body Language it is a million times better, hands down. Every song is well thought out and has a darker, sexier edge than Fever. Fever is just fluff compaired to this album. Those of you that think that she should have stuck with the sound from Fever are all wrong....an artist should grow and change with each and every album (as Madonna does). Kylie has it all right here is so many ways....Fever was a great tounge in check sugar-pop album, and Body language is a Sexy, sassy pop album with an edge. Some reviewers have said that all the songs sound the same, NOT TRUE....ARE you people deaf??? Also, Slow is a great song but surely NOT the best song on the CD as many have said (think for yourself at least once in your life...just because it was a hit, doesn't make it the best song. Quit being a follower and use your own head, no, no,no to sheep...don't be one.) , "I Feel for You" is the best song in my eyes, fun sexy and catchy. "After Dark" is another great track one of her best songs EVER!!!!!! Kylie has made a perfect record, and I hope she makes more and more. I hope she changes with each and every album...because that is what keeps people intrested. Thanks Kylie you ROCK!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Sexy and lush.......2007-02-20

In the time when pop music is becoming something to run from, when even the younger generations will choose rock bands instead of Britney Spears, there is one little lady that is still proud of what she is doing. Unlike Madonna, who constantly re-invents herself (always gorgeously, of course), Kylie Minogue decides to accept the pop territory as her art, and having peed on it for a long time, there's no way she's going anywhere.
So, here comes "Body Language", Kylie's last studio album. The first thing you notice is that it's much more retro - on the cover, Kylie is being sexy in that old-fashioned way, where it's not about how much you expose, than HOW you expose it. Wow, what a way to age! And the songs are the same way - although they are undoubtedly sexy, she merely suggests her sexiness instead of talking about how she does it (here that, Britney?).
The album opens with the minimal "Slow", which are essentially clusters of beats and hooks linked by Kylie's whisper. It is catchy and a great opening. From then on, it goes through a number of songs which all stand for themselves as great tracks (especially "Secret (Take You Home)" and "Promises", which are both retro and modern at the same time). "Red Blooded Woman" is very hip and upbeat and "Chocolate" might as well be the best track, capturing the lush feel of chocolate melting in one's mouth, and just like the chocolate, the song melts in a sexiest way possible. "Someday" is similar, very calm and lullaby-ish, as it suggests the end of the album. There are also two bonus tracks, "Cruise Control" and "You Make Me Feel", which are both great.
Snap-snap for Kylie Minogue. She has achieved stardom, and is now confident enough in herself to release a very moderate, yet accomplished album. It's the same old Kylie, and she's not going anywhere. "Body Language" proves it.

4 out of 5 stars Kylie rocks!.......2007-02-03

Has only about 4 good songs, other songs are ok. Got it cause of "body language" song.

3 out of 5 stars It's grown on me.......2007-01-19

Forget "La, La, La". There are no melodies here. Sadly, this is Blah, Blah,Blah. As a supporter of "Impossible Princess" I was looking forward to what I thought was a more expressive, edgier, still pop Kylie.
"Body Language" is different, but not expressive, hardly edgy, and not pop. The songs blur from one repetitive note to the next. Adjectives like "minimal" are being kind. Kylie could be anybody on this album. She is lacking the expressive and unique qualities of "Paper Dolls", "Some Kind of Bliss", "I Don't need anyone", "Disco Down", "You're Disco needs you", "Too Far", et al. I heard this album was an attempt to break America. It won't. The US "Fever" release missed the boat by excluding proposed inclusion of "Light Years" hits. "Body Language" waves the boat further away. I applaud Kylie's transformation abilities and independent nature. However, this album has no appeal to American Kylie fans who have little grasp of her previous images and abilities. Further, there is nothing new or mildly exciting to offer the American audience at large, regardless of their prior Kylie knowledge. Call me a slave to pop, but I like my water wet and my Kylie energetic. One can only hope that if the Kylie camp learned nothing from "Kylie Minogue", "Body Language" will teach them. Then we can look forward to the geniuses that will mirror the brilliant creativity, energies, and VARIETY of "Impossible Princess" and "Light Years". Cut to...

3 Years later, This album has grown on me. I still find it lacking but can admit that my intial thoughts may have been short sighted. I prefer the funkier sounds of "Red Blooded Woman", "Cruise Control"- EXCELLENT, "City Games", and "I Feel For You" to the breathy, atmospheric production of "Loving Days", "Someday", and "Promises". "Chocolate" is a gem on this album. It is similar to "Promises" but succeeds as a ballad with a sexy dance rhythm.

Don't buy it. I would give it zero stars if there were a zero option.
The music is good, but the manufacturer encoded the cd's with a custom music player. You CANNOT use your own mp3/cd player. Why these idiots went to this trouble is beyond human reason. These aren't rocket science secrets, it's MUSIC PEOPLE!
I was never so frustrated trying to listen to these cd's. It FORCES you to install their own player, which has some privacy and other software warnings. I immediately uninstalled it.
Don't buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Ultimate Doesn't Even Begin to Describe............2007-04-26

Sometimes I hate being an American! This is my thought when I think about how enjoyable this 2 disc collection of Kylie Minogue's greatest hits really is! Besides her LOCOMOTION and the FEVER ALBUM, America really heard little of Australia's princess in recent years! And what a shame that is! I've always known her to be a gay icon but I took that status with a grain of salt since there is nothing gay men love then a hot pop diva, but ohhh I underestimated Kylie!
I bought the CD on my last trip to the UK and I have to say I was only familar with BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, which is still a favorite of mine with the most amazing dance beats, LOCOMOTION, I JUST CANT GET YOU OUTTA MY HEAD, I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY, LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, and COME INTO MY WORLD. This CD has so much more to offer and it didn't take me long to discover the other gems on this CD!
SHOCKED, what can you say about a song that makes you incredibly happy and makes you dance like a maniac while driving to work everyday! One of the best songs on the first disc. Another favorite of the first disc is HAND ON YOUR HEART! The melody on this song is soo catchy you'll be humming it through even the most stressful situations! Other highlights of the first disc include, ESPECIALLY FOR YOU, JE NE SAIS PAS POURQUOI, and NEVER TOO LATE!

The second disc opens with a song that I was familar with but did not realize it was Miss Minogue! I BELIEVE IN YOU may even be the strongest song on either one of the discs! It is so unlike any other dance song I've danced/listened to and is infectious! It will have you dancing in the most random of places!! Of course you get the hits from the FEVER ALBUM such as CANT GET YOU OUTTA MY HEAD, LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, COME INTO MY WORLD, AND IN YOUR EYES! These songs really show how she's grown musically since 1987!

Other highlights on the 2nd disc are as follows RED BLOODED WOMAN, SPINNING AROUND (another song I'd heard before but never connected to Kylie and a great dance tune!!), PLEASE STAY, and BREATHE. I even came to enjoy WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW, not b/c its a bad song just b/c it is such a haunting song. Kylie's vocals on the song even bring her into character as Eliza Day!

Finally, this CD is a must for any DIVA fan or fan of really ecclectic music! Kylie lacks the "in your face"-ness of Madonna and has Cher's staying power! She's magical! Well worth the extra money for the "import" price!

1 out of 5 stars No Talent.......2007-01-25

I don't understand all these fans who act like Kylie is more talented than Britney Spears. Let's compare:
-Britney can dance REALLY WELL, Kylie can not
-Britney had her first self-penned #1 hit at age twenty-two ("Everytime"). Kylie didn't have her first self-penned #1 until age age 35 ("Slow").
-Neither of them can really sing, but Britney isn't as squeaky as Kylie at least.

4 out of 5 stars She's No Madonna, But She's Still Pretty Cool.......2006-06-23

The Madonna/Kylie comparisons are ridiculous, because Madonna is obviously better. Better singer, dancer, songwriter, and she just seems more intelligent.

That being said, I do like Kylie. She's cute and pert and her music is always catchy, even though it's usually low on substance. On Disc 1, my faves are the delicious "I Should Be So Lucky", the adorable "Got to Be Certain", the urgent "Never Too Late", and her surprisingly soulful rendition of "Tears on My Pillow" (everyone else seems to hate it, but I think it's pretty good). Disc 2 is much better. The music was less corny, the lyrics were slightly more mature, and Kylie's voice improved. "Love At First Sight" is an absolute gem, and "On a Light Like This" is also delightful. "Red-Blooded Woman" is a lil too Britney-esque, but it's still catchy and it had a hot video.

Like I said before, Kylie is pure guilty pleasure- this album is extremely lightweight. However, when it comes to bubblegum fluff, nobody does it better.

3 out of 5 stars DISC ONE IS SUITABLE FOR SKEET SHOOTING..........2006-06-05

... if you're a fan of the "FEVER"-era Kylie, then skip this and go straight to Cathy Dennis' OOP "Move To This" CD before they all disappear - she was the songwriting genius who boosted Kylie into the pop-dance stratosphere with her worldwide smash "Can't Get You Out Of My Head".

5 out of 5 stars Nice suprise.......2007-03-03

I became a Kylie fan late in the game. I didn't know what to expect from this album, just ordered it because I like her. I have to say that I love it. If you have just heard FEVER and BODY LANGUAGE you are in for a surprise. If you like the dancefloor radio ready music of those releases (BTW, I LOVE both of thos albums as well) you may not like this right off, but the more I listen the more I love it. I already loved Kylie but this album made me realize there is more to her than I knew about. And, I like it. Give it a try......

5 out of 5 stars ONE of her best.......2006-07-29

The album featues a wide range of songs. From the indie "Some Kind OF Bliss" to the magical "Breathe", and the wicked "Dreams", this is my qual favourite Kylie album, with Light Years.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Did It Again.......2006-05-01

This is a deep cd. a lot of people like to label this as an "indie rock" cd. i say that this is kylie, but more on a personal level. here's the track list
1. too far - some deep lyrics. love the music and vocals
2. cowboy style - this is one of the indie rock tracks. great song
3. some kind of bliss - love the song.
4. did it again - another indie rock song, but i still love it.
5. breathe - one of my favorites. really hypnotic song
6. say hey - i love the music
7. drunk - another favorite song. pretty deep lyrics. starts off with dark music and ends lighter
8. i don't need anyone - love it. faster rock!
9. jump - sounds more like a slow r&b song. sexy
10. limbo - love the music, deep lyrics once again.
11. through the years - slower r&b feel. love the sax
12. dreams - the closing of the album. great song to end with
one of the greatest cds kylie's ever made. everyone should have this cd

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING!.......2006-03-21

This cd is incredible- there is so much more to Kylie than what America knows!!!

5 out of 5 stars Kylie's best by far.......2005-10-14

In my opinion, Kylie reached her creative peak with this album; it was original, creative, dark, and Kylie wrote all of these songs. Which other album do you know that combines orchestration, trip-hop beats, pop, dance, hip-hop, alternative and sex? I know not many.....

It is such a shame that Kylie stilldoesn't release music as original as this. Her sales may not be as high if she released catchy pop songs like Spinning Around - which the listener may get sick of when heard multiple times - but this album is very durable - Her more diehard fans will enjoy it more - I never thought I would see such creative, and complex, songs like Through The Years or Say Hey as a highlight, but after many listens, I now (with Jump, Too Far and Dreams, my two favourite Kylie songs), consider them to be in my top-10 favoutite Kylie song list, not that there is one.

The only songs I don't like is I Don't Need Anyone - it just doesn't fit in between the inaccessible tracks Drunk and Jump. And Some Kind Of Bliss is borrderline, but all of the other tracks are very very good, but if I waas to pick a lowpoint, it would be around tracks 3-5 i.e the singles. I prefer original, creative and meaningful songs as opposed to pop, which is why I think that the singles and track 8 are the worst, but all of the other tracks are SPECTACULAR - quite a contrast, actually.

The album sold quite poorly compared to her others in the UK. It only went Silver (Kylie's lowest certification) and its chart run in the UK was: 10-22-41-70; I think fans that liked the more pop Kylie weren't really 'ready' in a way for an album so different from all of her others, but with a successful tour to promote this album, Australia saw this album for what it is. It went Double Platinum and peaked at #4.
Singles were respectively:
Some Kind Of Bliss (#22 UK, #27 Aus)
Did It Again (#14 UK, #15 Aus)
Breathe (#14 UK, #23 Aus)
Cowboy Style (Australia only. #36, Aus)

If you liked this album similar to how I haved (i.e liking non-singles over singles etc.) I recomend anything by Bjork - because this Cd is VERY bjork infulenced, Tori Amos, Goldfrapp or so on. Note: There are many people comparing this album to Madonna's Ray Of Light - this album is far better. Compared to this it is bland.

3 out of 5 stars kylieeeee.......2007-07-06

What I love about Kylie is that she is never serious. So pop this in and dance about.

4 out of 5 stars Camp Classic.......2007-03-07

Although I do not believe this to be Kylie's best work, it's still fun and really worth a listen. This is her come back album right after Impossible Princess which failed. She changed her sound to this late 70's disco sound and really went with it the whole way. The songs are not the most dance worthy I have ever heard, and the pop goes in to generic territory at times, but some of this stuff is genius. For example, Your Disco Needs You might be one of the most genius songs I have ever heard, not to mention great to dance too. Disco Down is also a great song. On the other hand, Spinning Around, Please Stay, and Kids with Robbie Williams, which were all singles, do not measure up to the rest of this CD. Althought this CD is uneven it is still worth a listen and it has the fun factor.

The Key Tracks Are: Your Disco Needs You, Disco Down, So Now Goodbye, Light Years, and Butterfly.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Minogue is Amazing.......2006-08-31

all the songs on here are great but theres one that stands out Light Years is a Amazing and Magical song it's a song that will get you dance'in. it's not a slow song or not a fast song it's just right this song will lift you.......it's Magical...

5 out of 5 stars Fun dance-pop!.......2006-07-16

This album is really fun and upbeat. In my opinion, the best tracks are singles "Spinning Around", "On a Night Like This", "Please Stay" and "Butterfly", which all rate 11/10; but that doesn't mean that the rest of the album is bad at all. All the other tracks are 9/10s except for "Bittersweet Goodbye" and "Kids" which seem out-of-place on this album. I give them both 8/10.

If you're into music with more meaning and depth, check out the albums "Impossible Princess" and "Kylie Minogue" instead. If you're having a dance party, throw on this album (along with "Fever") and dance all night long!

2 out of 5 stars Skip This One.......2006-06-23

There are only 2 good songs on this album: "Spinning Around" and "On a Night Like This". Both are availible on her "Ultimate Kylie" compilation, so there's no need to purchase this album. Well, "Love Boat" is also okay, but you don't NEED to own it.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Greatest Hits CD.......2007-03-08

My 6 year old son is Kylies greatest fan.
He loves it and hasn't played much else since, he particularly likes the locomotion, je ne sais pas ...., step back in time and better the devil you know. It is typical bubbly pop of it's age but quite high quality and well produced. The 22 tracks range from debut "I should be so lucky" to "Celebration" and this CD is a must for all Kylie collectors.

5 out of 5 stars The early hits.......2005-05-03

In 1980's Britain, the most successful pop record producers were the team of Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Many of their singers faded from popularity as quickly as they emerged, leaving a legacy of doubtful importance. A rose above the rest but the star that shone the brightest was Kylie. This is the definitive compilation of Kylie's music from that period, notably including her UK chart-topping duet with Jason Donovan, Especially for you, which originally appeared on one of his albums but did not appear on any of Kylie's original albums.

Nobody who was around in Britain in the late eighties will ever forget the chorus line of her first hit (one of several British number one records) - I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky - it's the kind of song you either love or hate. Many hate it, and I sometimes feel I ought to - but no, I love it. There was always something about Kylie, even then, that set her apart as something special.

Most of these songs were written and/or produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman. There are a few covers and it was two of these - Locomotion (the Little Eva sixties classic) and Tears on my pillow (the Little Anthony fifties classic) - that aroused my interest in Kylie's music. They are both brilliant - indeed, Locomotion provided Kylie with her only huge American hit during this period. As to Tears on my pillow, I've heard several versions. Kylie should be proud of her cover, which gave her another huge hit. Give me just a little more time (Chairmen of the board) and Celebration (Kool and the gang) provide further evidence of Kylie's ability to revive oldies and take them high up the charts.

Je ne sais pas porqoui (an English language song despite it's chorus line), Got to be certain, Hand on your heart, Better the devil you know and Wouldn't change a thing are among the other classic UK hits to be found here.

While many will continue to dismiss Kylie (especially these early hits), she is much better than many of the singers she is sometimes compared to, and has proved it by lasting longer than any of her critics thought possible.

Just a warning - if you got into Kylie's music because of her more recent material, you will find that her early music is very different. It is possible to enjoy both her recent music and her early music (as I do) but not everybody does.

5 out of 5 stars Legacy of a pop legend-Kylie's early best.......2004-03-13

Following Let's Get To It, Kylie Minogue released a retrospective of songs comprising her hit-making years with British bubblegum pop machine Stock-Aitken-Waterman on their PWL label. A whole pack of bubblegum? Well, it wouldn't be such a big deal were it not for the fact that Kylie's first six singles debuted at #1 or #2, and her first 11 singles made the Top Five.

Six songs are taken from her debut, hardly surprising, as that album went diamond worldwide (10 mill. copies sold). Her cover of Little Eva's "The Locomotion" spent 7 weeks at #1 in Australia, her home, and darned if her cover outdid that of the original and Jackie and the Raindrops' rendition. The equally infectious "I Should Be So Lucky," simultaneously at #1 in the UK and Australia, broke her worldwide, while I first heard of Kylie via her UK #2 hit "Got To Be Certain." "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi" French for I Don't Know Why, was another UK #2, and "Turn It Into Love" went to #1 in Japan.

From Enjoy Yourself, we have her first hit duet, the ballad "Especially For You," sung with Jason Donovan, which was the UK's first #1 song of 1989, the #1 UK "Hand On Your Heart," classic S-A-W, "Wouldn't Change A Thing," the vivacious "Never Too Late," and her cover of Little Anthony and the Imperials' "Tears On My Pillow."

The singles from Rhythm Of Love continue the formula, especially with "Better The Devil You Know," a song later covered by Welsh group Steps, and with its "I wanna funk, I wanna F-F-F U-N-K" intro and vivacious beat, "Step Back In Time," replete with references to 70's soul titles and even the O'Jays. "Shocked" became Kylie's 13th hit and 13th Top Ten single in the UK. Quite a record! What's not apparent here is that on some non-single tracks, Kylie actually began her hand at songwriting, co-writing with Steve Bray

From Let's Get To It, which showed Kylie co-writing some songs with Stock and Waterman, there's her best ballad, another duet, the regret of "If You Were With Me Now" with R&B singer Keith Washington, a strings and piano ballad that was a Christmas 1991 release. Another highlight: the bouncy horns in her cover of Chairman of the Board's "Give Me Just A Little More Time," a #2 hit that became her 15th UK Top 5, and another ballad, "Finer Feelings."

The new songs: "What Kind Of Fool (Heard All That Before)" harkens to the early bubblegum of her first two albums, with more sophisticated synths. This and the ballad, "Where In The World?," whose lush strings, horns, and drums recalls the pop of Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield, with a nod to 70's disco, were both written by Stock, Waterman, and Minogue. And what a way to end the album than with her cover of Kool and the Gang's "Celebration."

If anything this collection is quite a legacy. Kylie's a pop institution in Europe, Australia, and Japan, and while it's sad that she never broke through with most of these hits in the US, perhaps now there's some redress of the situation with her two most recent albums, Fever and Body Language, but this is the better material, people. Following this compilation, Kylie would enter a transition period, trying out new sounds with her self-titled album and Impossible Princess, before returning to disco, but sans Stock-Aitken-Waterman.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie's Poptastic Past.......2002-07-25

Greatest Hits. Quite a generic title for a hits compilation, no? But despite, it really is some of Kylie Minogue's greatest tunes. Containing all her singles from her PWL period, including her three US top 40 singles from that time - "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", and "It's No Secret". Her Japanese number one single "Turn It Into Love" is also present, amongst the rest of her UK smash hits. Great pop song after great pop song follow each other, with very few patches in between. The highest point of the album is the killer quartet from her third album "Rhythm Of Love", four catchy and fun dance pop classics - "Better The Devil You Know", "Step Back In Time", "What Do I Have To Do", and "Shocked". Those are some of the strongest of her career with SAW, while some of the other goodies include "Wouldn't Change A Thing", "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi", and "Word Is Out". And as for the patches I mentioned earlier, be aware of dodgy cover versions of "Tears On My Pillow" and "Celebration", and an overly sappy duet with Jason Donovan on "Especially For You". If Madonna is the people's pop queen, this prove's Kylie is the people's pop princess, a collection of hits almost as essential as "The Immaculate Collection" it self.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie - the Glory Years.......2002-05-21

Many younger audiences know Kylie as the singer who did "Can't Get You Out of My Head," but the truth is that she was a superstar years before this single. This hits collection has all the singles from her Stock-Aitken-Waterman years. Frothy, perfect pop that goes down easy. "I Should Be So Lucky," "Got to Be Certain," "Hand on Your Heart," "The Better the Devil You Know," and "What Kind of Fool" are slices of such well-crafted pop, despite the many critical blows S/A/W took in their heyday. This CD shot to No. 1 in the UK charts, and it's easy to see why. Celine may have the better voice, and Madonna may have more hits, but when it comes to down-to-earth charm, you can't beat Kylie. A diva with none of the divatude.

5 out of 5 stars I remember roller skating to Locamotion!.......2005-08-15

I giggle everytime I think about this CD. As a kid I used to remember " Locamotion " coming on every Friday when I went rollerskating. The first cd in the 2 cd set lets you run down memory lane...and then the second cd makes you feel like you could open up a dance club in your own apartment.
I enjoy Kylie's music without guilt. I don't feel she is too raunchie or explicit. This cd set was well worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars From cheesy starlette to dance diva.......2005-06-16

It's already seventeen years of Kylie Minogue's career. This compilation shows the whole evolution of this artist from cheesy starlette to dance diva. This is a standard international version of this title.

It's hard to believe today, but Minogue recorded her first songs only because someone asked her for doing it. The rest is history. She became one of the most famous artists in history of music, even though unfortunately she didn't manage to achieve this status in the U.S.A.

And that's just the main reason to buy this double CD set here in the States. It's about time to discover her most important works which made her an icon of pop culture outside this country.

This set contains 33 songs, including 2 brand new - especially marvellous "I Believe In You". The first disc sums up the years 1987-1992 - time of creative captivity, when Kylie sang all what she was told and she had nothing to say because everything was under control of extremely successful UK producers Stock-Aitken-Waterman, whose simple catchy songs then conquered the hearts of teenagers all over the world.

An the second one sums up the years 1994-2005 - time of music freedom, independence and above all maturity, when Kylie started to discover new sounds and also brand new audience, what brought her a big respect in music showbusiness.

In general we can find on this set almost all from thirty nine Minogue's UK singles, but it's very weird, because in total there is almost forty minutes of free space, so all the singles could have been put on it. The biggest mistake is a lack of astonishing 1991 hit "If You Were With Me Now" recorded with Keith Washington. And just like it was for example on German edition, record company should put also Kylie's local hit, which in the U.S.A. was "It's No Secret" from her first album. And then it would be a perfect compilation with forty tracks!

Anyway, it's a well done compilation, which Kylie's American fans should buy at once to discover at last why she is the second Madonna overseas.

I LOVE THIS CD IT IS VARY GOOD I THINK KYILE IS A VARY GOOD SINGER

5 out of 5 stars LOVING KYLIE MINOGUE.......2005-03-12

Kylie Minogue's last four records have been simply sassy and bold. She turly knew how to make a comeback and make the best of it. Since Minogue's departure from her SAW years(late 80's early 90's producers), her music has exploded in the most unique and clever dance music to storm into the radio waves in years. Kylie surely could clame to be the queen of new dance music. Her classy approach of rhythm and melody is just a pleasure. This ULTIMATE collection includes all her hits from the 80's to 2000's, sadly for many who got to met Minogue's music in her late years would be horrified by her early takes, ok many know that the 80's where cheesy but SAW production is the KING of cheesyness and corny. So better if you skip the CD 01 and concentrate your energy on the CD 02, wich includes the early take BREATHE an imaginative track that was ahead of is time, CONFIDE IN ME a dramatic midtempo love song, SPINNING AROUND her comeback song, a pure new disco anthem, extremely chilling. ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS a beautifully done sad dance track, PLEASE STAY a simple spanish flavored track, KIDS duet with Robbie Williams, a pop-rock take, CAN'T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD her INTERNATIONAL break out, classy, dance, clever. IN YOUR EYES a pure dance love song, LOVE AT FIRST SITE a retro feeling, very cheerful one. COME INTO MY WORLD this is just outrageous. SLOW an atari a like beat tune, sassy and daring. RED BLOODED WOMAN Minogue's venture into more POP airwave. CHOCOLATE can this be more sassy, one of Kylie's best. I BELIEVE IN YOU a total retro-80's dance new wave track. GIVING YOU UP the best new track, so funky. In all this is a most have to any euro-dance lover and classic compilation. *****FIVE STARS to Miss Kylie for been beautiful, talented and classy.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Delivers a Non-Stop Smile!.......2006-12-26

From the first note to the last, this album says it all!!! Here are 34 reasons why Kylie is the worldwide lord of dance and queen of pop!!!

Encompassing her SAW/PWL/Hit Factory days ("I Should Be So Lucky", "Got To Be Certain") and DeConstruction era ("Breathe," "Put Yourself In My Place"), not a beat is skipped! Although MASSIVELY successful overseas, Kylie showcases a wealth of talent throughout this collection that the US has underestimated and underappreciated. Furthermore, her covers of American trademark singles "The Loco-Motion," "Give Me Just A Little More Time," "Celebration" and Tears On My Pillow" are more proof of Kylie's stunning voice and incredible talent! This compilation perfectly serves as an encyclopedic volume of Kylie's career. As a bonus, this set is a non-stop DJ stash.

Although all tracks are phenomenal, highlights include "Got To Be Certain," "Hand On Your Heart," "Wouldn't Change A Thing," "Confide In Me," "Finer Feelings" and "Breathe".

3 out of 5 stars Should only be a single cd. Take the alternative cuts out.......2005-10-19

Take out all the remix, radio edit, 2002, espana mix etc and 12 inch selections (comes to 13) and you have a great single cd recording that new comers to K M would buy.

To me, they are unnecessary and not as good as the regular songs.

Worse, they are mixed in with the regular songs.

People wanting the alternative mixes would probably buy a cd of such, and probably have all the regular cuts.

By the way, why does Amazon include a 'NO' in 'was this review helpful to you?'. People are only human and don't like opinions that differ from themselves. With some who are less mature, this the 'NO' makes it too easy express such displeasure.

Are they trying to discourage negative reviews, hence not purchase the CD. Such reviews only help a person in not being dissatisfied a product that received positive reviews

5 out of 5 stars Amazing CD with many great songs.......2005-06-07

I'm a big Kylie fan and this CD is my favourite. Almost all songs on CD1 is great and CD2 is good but some of the remixes are sadly not that good. Buy this now and enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Kylie.......2005-05-22

This is an excellent compilation if you are interested in discovering Kylie's early work before she became a superstar with hits like 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' and 'Slow'.

This covers Kylie's first ten years of making pop music, and if you think she does it well now, her early stuff is equally good.

This two-disc compilation features classics like 'I Should Be So Lucky', 'Better the Devil You Know', 'Shocked', 'What Do I Have To Do?', 'Step Back In Time' and her covers of 'Celebration', 'The Locomotion' and 'Give Me A Little More Time'.

It also features Kylie's underrated material for the Deconstruction label, including 'Confide In Me' and 'Did It Again'; songs considered more avant-garde for Kylie, yet they are perfect pop masterpieces with slightly more edge than we would expect from Kylie.

There are also a number of bonus remixes, making this a generous compilation.

I agree with Thunderhexed that although there is 'Ultimate Kylie' out there, this collection is equally listenable. 'Ultimate Kylie' only gives a fair sampling of Kylie's early work while focusing more on her post-2000 career.

Kylie has amassed an impressive body of work, and I highly recommend this collection. In fact, I consider it one of Kylie's essential CDs.

5 out of 5 stars This cd re-ignited my passion for Kylies work!.......2005-03-03

I remember ver distinctly back in the day when Kylie's locomotion was all the rage on the radio. For my birthday my mother bought me Kylie's first album on cassette which I still have to this day. When her second cd, "Enjoy Yourself" was released, i picked it up, after that, Kylie was not heard from again in the U.S. It wasn't until the release of her "Fever" cd that I had thought anything about her. Upon hearing the bonus track "Butterfly", I knew there was much more to be learned. While in the cd store one day I came across this greatest hits cd, so I picked it up. It sparked a whole new love affair with Kylie. Within a period of about 6 months I ordered every album she released in the UK and Australia, every remix cd available, and even found the companion dvd to this greatest hits package. Kylie has DEFINATELY pushed Madonna out of the limelight for me. Kylie's music is just as pure and fun as her voice is smooth. If you can find the companion dvd to the greatest hits disc it's WELL worth it. It includes rare interviews, alternate video versions, behind the scenes video shoots(with a cameo by sister Danni) as well as a wonderful photo slide show that plays along to an instrumental verison of "Turn It Into Love", which, available on her debut disc, was only a big hit in Japan, other than my bedroom. Along came the Ultimate Kylie cd and dvd, which, of course I purchased, but I still find myself going back to this compilation for some classic Kylie. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!! The remix bonus disc is awesome too, Hi-lights on that disc are the Movers n Shakers mixes of Better the Devil You know and What Do I have to DO..sure , peak time, club floor fillers modernized for today!

5 out of 5 stars If you are a Kylie fan you have to have this.......2005-05-22

Before I start sharing my opinions on this album, I would just like to say a quick get well message for Kylie. Many (certainly me) were shocked by Kylie's early-stage breast cancer and I hope she knows and understands how much we are thinking of her. I admire her work very much and hope she recovers extremely quickly, as she is most likely to. The showgirl tour was also amazing and I was saddened to hear about the cancelling of this and saddened to hear about Kylie's disaster itself. The album LET'S GET TO IT is a great buy, if you are a REAL Kylie fan. This is her fourth album, as she released the following albums before this: KYLIE, ENJOY YOURSELF and RHYTHM OF LOVE.

This album faired rather poor in the UK, only reaching #15 - in Kylie's home, Australia, the album peaked at #13. This album still had SOME hit singles, e.g Give Me Just A Little More Time and duet with Keith Washington, If You Were With Me Now.

The tracks from this album are:
01 Word Is Out
(Also available in Australia: Summer Breeze 7" Mix)
(Single charted at #16 in the UK and #10 in Australia)
02 Give Me Just A Little More Time
(Single was a huge hit in UK, charting at #2. In Australia, the single charted at #24)
03 Too Much Of A Good Thing
04 Finer Feelings (Album Version)
(Also available: Brothers In Rhythm 7" Mix)
(Single charted at #11 in the UK and #60 in Australia)
05 If You Were With Me Now (Duet With Keith Washington)
(Single charted at #4 in the UK and #23 in Australia)
06 Let's Get To It
07 Right Here, Right Now
08 Live And Learn
09 No World Without You
10 I Guess I Like It Like That
(Single charted at #49 in the UK)

Overall, this album is a great buy. Even though the album did not sell as much as the other PWL recordings, this album may be the finest of them. This album ranges from Techno (I Guess I Like It Like That) to R'n'B (Word Is Out) the most. It also includes some great and beautiful ballads like If You Were With Me Now and No World Without You. Along with this album, I would also reccommend: RHYTHM OF LOVE.

2 out of 5 stars kylie's weakest album.......2005-05-03

i am shocked to see so many high reviews for this album! it's not only her weakest album but it is so plainly obvious that this album was rush-recorded and rush-released. there really are only 8 songs on this cd's the other 2 were totally thrown together at the last minute(too much of a good thing and i guess i like it like that.)
The problem with this album is that there are no dance floor stompers like "Better The Devil You Know" and "What Do I Have To Do" and also no really catchy pop tunes like "Got To Be Certain" or "Hand On Your Heart. Some may say this album is more mature. No. what it is is boring. First of all, my biggest problem with this album is the OVERUSE OF BACKGROUND SINGERS!!! they appear on almost all the songs escept for 2! I got so annoyed by them. Kylie was reduced to singing backup along with them on a lot of this album. Those 2 songs i mentioned, Kylie BARELY sings at all, although i am almost convinced that she doesn't sing at all on I Guess I Like It Like That, which has no verses at all, it's just one big long chorus sung by background vocalists, almost the same with that other song. "Let's Get To It" sounds like a rip-off of Color Me Badd's "I wanna sex you Up", although it's one of the better songs on the album but that's not saying much. the only 2 standout songs are "Give Me Just A Little More Time" (which i didn't really like when i first heard it on Greatest Hits, but put it next to these otehr bland songs and it sounds like a work of art) and "Finer Feelings" BUT the Brothers and Rhythm remix of "FF" is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. this album version is weird...it's not a dance song, and its not really a ballad, so it never really goes anywhere. the remix saved it by miles!
I love Kylie, but its obvious this album was rushed to get out of her contract. NEXT!

5 out of 5 stars I Guess I Like It... Like THAT.......2005-03-27

Word Is Out is great. (Single: #16)

Give Me Just A Little More Time is great. (Single: #2)

Too Much Of A Good Thing is brilliant.

Finer Feelings is great. Original album version. (Single: #11)

If You Were With Me Now is great. (Single: #4)

Let's Get To It is brilliant.

Right Here Right Now is brilliant.

Live And Learn is brilliant.

No World Without You is brilliant.

She sings "without you" like another viewer suggested, instead of "witou-choo" like others would sing.

I Guess I Like It Like That is a brilliant dance track. (Un-noticed single: #49)

This dance track goes on for 6 minutes and also features Tony King and the Visionmasters.

Tony King has remixed such hits as Let's Get To It and Step Back In Time.

Out of interest Step Back In Time was a single and charted at #4.

Let's Get To It charted at #15 in the UK and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100 UK Albums Chart.

It's as simple as that. (Or not so simple!)

3 out of 5 stars I Guess I Like It Like This.......2004-12-28

Kylie Minogue's fourth album "Let's Get to It" is quite an underrated album. It starts with "Word Is Out", the song I hated at first but now I guess I like it somehow. "Give Me a Just a Little More Time" and "Finer Feelings" are my favourites from this album. They tell about waiting the true love. The lyrics in "Finer Feelings"..."What Is Love Without the Finer Feelings? It's Just Sex Without the Sensual Healing. Passion Dies Without Some Tender Meanings. It Ain't Love Without the Finer Feelings.". "If You Were With Me Now" is Kylie's duet with Keith Washington. It is quite a sad and good ballad. "Let's Get to It"...well, I usually skip it. "Right Here, Right Now" is a good song for a change. "Live And Learn" and "Too Much of a Good Thing" are quite basic pop tracks...although they have great lyrics. "No World Without You" is a great peaceful ballad. Kylie sings very beautifully and in a touching way it. "I Guess I Like It Like That" is a great dance pop song...it is happy and the vocals are just great.
Stars: Finer Feelings, If You Were With Me Now, Give Me Just A Little More Time

4 out of 5 stars Possible the finest of Kylie's SAW period ..........2004-11-29

Most reviews on this very page agree with me that this is possibly the finest LP of Kylie's SAW period ... the "credible" music press certainly did, so I find it impossible to believe that anyone could think it was as bad as maybe two of the reviews would have you believe. This LP contains what I consider to be Kylie's most underrated single, "Word is Out," (famously her first to miss the top ten)with its irresistible groove (the single version more so than the one here). "Finer Feelings" contains an impressive vocal that really demonstrates how Kylie's voice is much stronger than her early hits show. "Give Me just a Little More Time," the Chairman of the Board classic, may be a paint-by-numbers cover, but it too has an unyielding clap-your-hands kind of beat to it, and fine piano work, which makes it sound like the famous production team really put more into the instrumentation of this remake than most of their covers. "Right Here Right Now" is a spirited kick-ass album track that could've been a single, and the final track, worth the price of admission alone, "I Guess I Like it Like That" shows that Stock Waterman could really let go when they wanted, and is one of the reasons I am a Kylie disciple; the song could hold its own with any nineties disco anthem, and should make all wallflowers swamp the dancefloor. If you are going to have filler, then it might as well be "Let's Get to It," with its shuffling rhythm and instrumental break, but "If You Were With Me Now," the hit duet with Keith Washington, was not worthy of a single release in my book, and even comes across inferior to Kylie's earlier sappy duet, "Especially for You." As an American fan, this album dates from the days when Kylie's output was only available to us stateside fans as an import. I know Yanks have a reputation of liking more R&B influenced music, but that is not the case with me, or why I recommend this album to all Kylie fans, new and old. I tend to like Kylie's music best when she experiments and tests the boundaries, not content to rely on stale advice or past success, and "Let's Get to It" is a fine example of Kylie finally taking control.
