FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM!-A GOOD ALBUM!.......2006-04-12

I bought this cd over a year ago. I'm surprised I already haven't written a review.

I was first introduced to Bobby O when I first heard his legendary song "From a Whisper to a Scream' in A Nightmare On Elm Street 2'. I was hooked. I became obsessed with this song.

I had never heard any of Bobby's other songs. So I took a chance and bot this album.

Wow I was blown away, I loved the way Bobby told us girls what he wanted. Each song I have come to love.

I love his songs and his instruments to each song.

I think he's an original, a one in a kind sort of guy.

I definitely recommend!

Bobby "O" doesn't stay far behind from Pet Shop Boys.......2005-07-05

This guy is simply the best hi-nrg producer. He doesn't have great voice, but he tries. Each song has become my favorite, with "A man like me" being at the top of my list. "Save me" and "Pray for me" aren't far behind, but unluckily they are not included here. This is something different for the music lover. You'll specially like it if you are a fan of the Pet Shop Boys (Bobby 'O' was their producer). He doesn't deviate from the recurring topic of doing things to girls, but finally considers the world situation in "Mixed up world." I own the vinyl record, and yet picked up this copy for my car. A true gem.

Classic HI-NRG at its best!.......2001-08-25

The Bobby "O" cd get 5 stars. Bobby Orlando is one of the original producers/artist of HI-NRG music! He paved the way for other artist with hits like "IM SO HOT 4 U", "SHE HAS HER WAY", "Beat BY Beat", "GIVE IT UP" and many more to name.....if you have never heard of Bobby "O" this is the cd to get.....This cd is filled with HI-NRG classics from the early 1980's....you could pretty much say that i am trapped in the eighties because of my love for rare disco classics.....i love HI-NRG/ITALO DISCO MUSIC....anyone want to trade high energy mixes from Chicago,New York, Detroit or just talk about this mysterious genre of music email me.........

Bobby Os better moments were from the early to mid-80s. There are a few more recent tracks that are fun to listen to but that sound out of place in the 90s; he clearly mastered one type of sound, but not necessarily another. I would get the O classics before this. I had heard a rumor that Bobby O had gained a ton of weight, had a bunch of kids and then started writing books refuting evolution. But I think this must have been just a rumor. He has recently started a record company called "reputation records".

The only release from ZYX worth buying!.......2006-02-10

No matter how many "Best of Collections" released by ZYX, you are bound to get the same old mix & match crappy "b" side tracks on ALL their volumes.
Well, not with this selection, it's filled with hit singles by legends like: Squash Gang's "I Want An Illusion"; Jules' "You And Me" and surprisingly..."What My Heart Wanna Say" by Roger Meno...of course the list goes on! I have the double-vinyl LP album and this CD. Like the other reviewer had mention, the vinyls are original 12" maxi long versions, whereas most of the CD tracks here (no, they are not even radio versions...hence the "extended versions" are quite short) have been edited or cut short to fit into the disc. For example: take track no. 07 - "You And Me", a 6 minute song cut short to a miserable 2:57!
If you are an Italo Disco fanatic, this album is worth collecting, but I do highly recommend the double-vinyl if you can find a good piece of copy. It's the best Italo Disco compilation ever released by ZYX!

The Best out of all 13 volumes!.......2000-07-02

Just to mention the few artists here - Jules "You and Me", Michael Bedford "More Than a Kiss", Eddy Huntington "USSR", Patty Ryan, JD Jaber, Mike Mareen, KB Caps... These are true masterpieces of Italo/Euro dance of the 80's. The only downside of this release is that all the songs are radio versions (vinyls contain MAXIs).

There are one or two good renditions on this cd. There is also a few songs which are discordant and somewhat painful to listen to.

GET THIS FOR VIVIAN VEE'S HEARTBEAT(before it's OOP).......2004-12-28

This CD is the only place (that I know of) that you will find a NON-MIXED version of Vivian Vee's hit "Heartbeat (1,2,3)". Good quality sound from the great ZYX label. Den Harrow's "Don't Break My Heart", Albert One's "Hopes & Dreams" (better quality than his "Best Of" CD) and Vivian Vee's song are worth the price of this CD alone. Unfortunately, like most of the 80's Hi-NRG/Italo-Disco compilations, once they sell out they are no longer in production/OOP, so get it while you can.

These are really great, classic Italo Disco songs, too bad there are too many short, cropped versions (the original vinyl album had the 12 inch mixes of every song). It would have been great to have the original long versions on CD too. Well, it's still very good music, if you're a fan of this particular genre.

EURODISCO HEAVEN DEFINED!.......2005-03-18

Say what?! Lian Ross album??? This is something I have never seen, and I have been looking for her CD compilation for quite a while. This looks like a Polish compilation under ZYX records, so God bless Poland, God bless ZYX! I just got this CD, and I am in heaven!
Lian Ross is mostly classified as Italo Disco artist and has always been a single-driven artist (which is typical for Italo Disco). Her material is produced by Luiz Rodriguez, a long-time collaborator of Dieter Bohlen, and she was also the first (if I am not mistaken) to sing You're My Heart You're My Soul, a signature mega-hit by Modern Talking. That alone, if one does not know who Lian Ross is, should make Eurodisco lovers' skin crawl. This CD delivers total goosebumps to those who appreciate club music from 80s' Europe.
You get original uncut maxi versions of pretty much all her hits on this CD, and there is almost nothing more to ask for:
1. Say You'll Never - her signature song. As I was in high school, I heard this at a disco and remember no one knowing who the artist was. Much later I looked up the song by the title on Kazaa and found out the singer's name.
2. Scratch My Name - beautiful disco song
3. You're My Heart You're My Soul - longer than any Modern Talking maxi version, even better arrangement, to my opinion - doesn't beat Thomas Anders' delivery but has its own remarkable quality. I believe she recorded it as a part of Creative Connection, one of Mr. Rodriguez' early projects
4. Fantasy - classic disco hit even known in the US
5. Saturday Night - almost a clone of the previous track, with very similar instrumentals, but a nice different melody.
6. It's Up To You - another great disco track
7. Neverending Love - just as good
8. Do You Wanna Funk - classic Hi-NRG Disco revisited, faster than most tracks here, very moving.
9. Say Say Say - sounds like an older, late 80s track, nice melody.
10. Oh Won't You Tell Me - less disco, more like a tropical slower-pace beach track, nice melody. I've had it, like most tracks above, downloaded from the Internet, with horrible quality, as if it was copied off a chewed-up cassette tape.
11. Baby I'm Going My Way - never heard this one before, not as good as others but still takes you back in time...
12. Keep This Feeling - not sure what this is doing here, sounds like Mr. Vain by Culturebeat, like one of those Eurodance tracks from mid-90s when Eurodance totally lost it.
13. Fantasy 98 Rap Mix - well, this could very well be a B-side to Modern Talking's 98 version of You're My Heart You're My Soul, or Fancy's 98 version of Flames Of Love, or Bad Boys Blue 98 version of You're A Woman, should I continue? It sounds very recycled.
So, instead of the last 3 (or last 2 for sure) tracks I would add the following songs that are not featured here:
Magic Moment - a beautiful ballad with raspy Bonnie Tyler-like vocals
Trying To Forget You - 90s techno-house tarck with breathtaking melody
Don't You Walk Away - another old disco tune from early days
Feel So Good - another house track
In any case, this CD is worth every dollar you spend on it. Welcome to her world of fantasy!
