Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars one of the best mixes ever.......2004-07-25

one of my fave all time top 5 dj mix cd's....especially the first half....it's on the hip-hop tip but big dancehall influence...not too much rapping just beats and the odd ragga line...excellent cd to get the party started..starts at around 95 bpm and slowly nudges up to 120 tempo..booyaah...i so wish jon carter hadnt converted to house...come back jon..breakbeat needs you!!!!

5 out of 5 stars wholehearted weekend warrior dancehall fun.......2002-12-08

great way to get sold on dancehall, jon carter somehow always manages to make the cheesy (special ed, ini kamoze) fun and addictive, as well as keeping respect from real enthusiasts through his big-beat renditions of some classics. yard boy ten and some others on here are damn catchy, and like fatboy slim in his sets, he doesn't seem to be as concerned with coming off as holier-than-thou in his crate selections, he just wants to make your ass move. good cd to listen to while working.

4 out of 5 stars You know when you buy a CD for one track............2001-08-21

This is one of those times hombres...Track three: "Gucci Dance live" is just an AWESOME piece of old skool tom-foolery...just wicked...It is 100% guaranteed value for money even if (like me) you only really dig the start of the album...towards the middle it meanders a little into ragga noodling...but picks up again with "Say Party" and loverman...

Something wicked is definitely coming your way....

5 out of 5 stars Non-stop get your groove going.......2001-05-26

Jon Carter is brilliant. That's all there is to it. This is clearly the finest of the "Live at the Social" discs. Carter has selected a wonderful mix of electronic and hiphop dance tunes. Pefect for that house party. No need to put the player on shuffle just to get a good mix. Carter has it all for you.

If this disc doesn't get your party going absolutely nothing will and all your friends need their heads checked.

Keep it up Jon.

5 out of 5 stars Lightning strikes twice..........2001-01-25

Jon Carter (the madman behind Monkey Mafia) has struck again. This disc is pricey, but it reflects the amazingly eclectic tastes Carter (and many of us) has.

I've thrown this on at a party and just left it alone while people stormed the dancefloor en masse.

An excellent purchase if you dig hip-hop, big beat and shaking yer groove thing.

Highly recommended.
