"Back in the day music".......2005-10-24

If you need a moment to remember the slower times, a time when love songs held a hint of mystery and kept you coming back for more. If you're looking to put your feet up and just relax into some great memories or create new ones. This CD will definitely do it all for you, especially if you are a fan of Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra. What a masterful mix of sounds.

If you're trying to put a little fire in your relationship and need to set a mood with good music, here's the music to play.

IT'S A SHAME THAT THIS GIRL GROUP NEVER RECEIVED THE RECOGNITION THEY VERY WELL DESERVED AND THAT THEY NEVER MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE CHARTS.
THESE THREE WOMEN ARE GLAMOROUS, STUNNING, AND HAVE THE VOICES AND TALENT THAT COULD KNOCK A SKYSCRAPER DOWN. THIS CD IS AN AWESOME ONE AND ALL THE TRACKS ARE GOOD FROM START TO END. IN MY OPINION, IT'S WORTH OWNING. MY PERSONAL FAVORITE TRACK IS NUMBER 3. I CAN HEAR IT OVER AND OVER AND NEVER GET TIRED OF IT. I MAKE A POINT TO LISTEN TO IT EVERYDAY.

...to rate this album, in which Barry's music intelligence meets 3 superb female voices! Songs like 'Walking in the rain' still make me thrill! A must-have collection containing all their hits!

The Supremes of the 70's!!.......2005-06-22

The first minute and five seconds of the opening cut, "Under The Influence of Love" sound like a great lost Blaxploitation soundtrack cut. It's all high hat cymbals and wah-wah guitar and swelling strings. Then, on come three female singers with huge afros and tight,perfect harmony, sounding like a more soulful version of The Supremes. Brilliant, luscious vocals and a girl group groove straight out of Phil Spector guides you to heaven on "It May Be Winter Outside, But In My Heart It's Spring". Barry White wrote or co-wrote and produced everything on here and even married one of the girls(Glodean). His influence is writ large upon the production, but the girls have their own musical persona. "I Belong To You" was their big R&B number one and "Walking In The Rain With The One I Love" is a gorgeous rewrite of The Ronettes "Walking In The Rain", complete with rain effects and a phone call from Barry in full basso profundo lover man mode. This is sweet, sensual music that sounds better than ever and there are 17 very strong hits on here.

The Best Girl Group of The 70s .......2004-12-29

Of all the 70s great girl groups around at the time (First Choice, Three Degrees, Sister Sledge) this one is my favorite. I could listen to "Under The Influence Of...Love Unlimited" all day. Which brings up a point, why is it out of print? Anyway, powerful vocals by Glodean and the Girls...

The band that backed up "The Maestro".......2006-06-01

Though he was not the first artist to mix classical strings with popular beats and rhythms, Barry White's unique blending of the two made him a standout on the musical scene of the mid-70's through the early 80's. This compilation represents the best of the orchestra that provided the background to many of his hit singles, as well as charttopping tracks released as solo performances from the group.

Most "best of" collections leave out some fan favorites. This one is no different, for most of the cuts are culled from the ensemble's 70's releases, starting with "Rhapsody in White" (1974) and ending with 1979's "Super Movie Themes, Just a Little Bit Different". Although the group would release four more albums in the 80's, none of those albums are represented here; thus, a more inclusive offering may be in the future.

This reviewer would've preferred that, along with the "Theme from 'King Kong'", the orchestra's version of "As Time Goes By," the group's killer reworking of Isaac Hayes's "Theme from 'Shaft'" had been included.

However, that is crying over spilled milk and this album is still a fine introduction to the group that helped to supply the "silky soul" to the singer with the "bedroom delivery."

Is "Loves Theme" from a 1974 movie??.......2005-08-11

I am trying to find out if the track "Loves Theme" comes from a movie in the same year (Feb.1974) that this single reached No.10 on the British Pop Charts, and stayed for 3 weeks.
I really enjoy the arrangement of this melody which is my favourite disco tune of that era,next to the "Saturday Night Fever"album.

The single star isn't for the Music on this CD which is fantastic. The single star is for this reason - How can you have a 'best of' without the group's finest track? The tracks on this CD are very good but for whatever reason 'Strange Games And Things', the track in question isn't on it. Maybe it was due to licensing problems but surely some deal could have been done?
As it stands they were in the ridiculous situation of putting out a 'best of' compilation without their best track! The mind boggles.

There is a Cd out there called The Greatest Dance Music In the World or something like that. It STINKS!!! THIS 2 Unlimited CD IS the greatest dance music in the world. You cannot sit still listening to it and if you are excercising while playing it you will probably lose 5 lbs. when it is finished :)GREAT dancing all the way through. Not too many you can say that about. IT ROCKS BIG TIME!!!!

a trip down memory lane!.......2004-08-07

Just got the 2U cd from ebay, and it brings back a lot of memorys from when i was a 13 year old kid(1993) and thes song wher played a lot on school party's and mtv,back then i had a tape that i've lost several yeras ago,but when i poped the disc into my player al those fun memorys came back,and it amazes me still how these songs sound like they where made yesterday!
Defenitly recomended to go crazy on but playing them in your car may cause some road rage as the beats pump through your ears!

What woman doesn't love this music. I've had my vinyl album since it came out but decided to replace it with a CD. It's old and mostly instrumental but still good. "Barry's Theme" is my favorite. Feeling nostalgic? Like Barry White? You'll enjoy the CD.

Beautiful Masterpiece.......2004-09-26

Most probably this is the best album ever recorder from Barry White. I do not have enough words to describe the magnitud of the talent of the "Maestro" Barry White to produce and record the music this album contain. Mr. White allow you to enjoy his music with out any vocal ingredient in order you can truly appreciate his genius. I had the opportunity to get this CD recently but I have been looking to get it for many years. I even bought the LP with the same tile and presentation 5 years ago at Sou Paulo Brasil. Now finally it is here for everybody to enjoy it. If you like soul Music and Barry White music this is truly en esencial CD.

The Maestro conducts a classic.......2004-01-19

If you are a fan of Barry White and his sound you should love this album. Released in 1973 after The Maestro had hit big with his first two albums 'I've Got So Much To Give' and 'Stone Gon', this was an opportunity for him to flex his orchestral talents exclusively to the public, without any vocal distractions.

All of The Maestros albums in his 70s prime were awesome showcases of musical talent, thanks in part to the wonderful ways in which he manipulated the orchestral groove for his songs. This album follows suit and is a beautiful collection of well arranged instrumentals, with Barry occasionally kicking game at the beginning of some tracks. The classic 'Loves Theme' is present, however the Wall Of Sound created throughout this album is just as impressive.

One of the early-1980s' best R&B groups........2007-05-13

Unlimited Touch recorded some great music for Prelude Records during the early-1980s and this CD brings you their best. "I Hear Music In The Streets", "Private Party", "Love Explosion",the title track and several other cuts featured here were cult classics of the post-disco Dance Music scene. If you like '80s R&B then this CD is a must-have for your collection.

Just try not to jam, however..........2004-05-14

The first handful of songs here are masterpieces. aya ou will not be able to sit still, especially with I Hear Music in the Streets. What a jam! Searching to Find the One comes almost as close.

My problem is that this is a condensation of the two albums the band made for Prelude. Unfortunately the material off of the
second album comes nowhere near what was from the first album. I'm not saying that any of it is bad, but it is not good either. Even more of a robbery is that Happy Ever After from the first album is not included ... ? That's the real reason I have subtracted a star ... what a great oppertunity they missed.

If you are into classic dance music you will enjoy this. Don't be at all surprised to find some duds here as well. On the whole this is the only way to have any Unlimited Touch on disc and I suppose we must accept whatever we can get our hands on.

Private party.......2003-08-06

Private party is not the most straight song of the album, but it sure is one of the funkiest tracks of this album. The bass that goes through this song is amasing and the flute is just great. I can remember when it came out and was woted soul album of the year by some magazine. I still enjoy that album on vinyl. The only problem the CD reissue has, is that it consists of 2 Unltd. touch LP's and they cut of one of the nicest tracks: " Carry on ", which is a real nice midtempo groover. Ooh! How I hate those 2 albums on 1 cd. I'd rather pay double and get them seperately. That would never had happened had it been reissued in Japan!!. The U.S record companies could learn a thing or two there.

Unlimited Jams.......2002-02-08

The jams that help in putting Prelude Records and the label's own on the map are here. The funky "I Hear Music in the Streets," "Searching to Find the One," and "Nobody Can Love Me" will forever stand the test of time. These are definite powerhouse jams that really make block parties happen.

As is typical with these compilation cds, one recieves the shorter version of most songs when it is the unedited versions that became the hits;ergo, we "Can't Get Enough".

One of the Defining Sounds of the 70s.......2002-04-07

This economical CD contains 1 of the definative R&B 70's tunes in "Cant Get Enough of Your Love" and perhaps the best disco song ever written in "Love's Theme". It also contains 2 excellent cover versions of "Just the Way You Are" and "Standing In the Shadows of Love". White was a triple threat - writer, singer and arranger/producer and shows off his talents here.
Highly recommended!

Barry's music make's me want to dance, 30 year ago I watched him and love unlimited Live at Madison Square Garden and the magic is still there. His music is about Love and Feeling glad to be alive. Barry and Love Unlimited you Rule!

I Finally Know.......2000-05-24

Since the early 70's, I remember Love's Theme but did not know the composer or the even the orchestration. Radio stations often use it as bumper music but rarely announce the title. Love's Theme was used as an intro to TV golf tournaments, but I still did not know title or composer. Finally last week a local talk show host used it as background in a discussion of Barry White. Bingo. I am no longer driven crazy not knowing where to find the music. I've listened to the entire CD compilation. Barry White truly is a musical genious. Amazon.com saved me a lot of time looking for Back to Back.

Since the 1970's, when the Singers Unlimited recorded with Oscar Peterson, I have loved this group. The A Capella numbers on this 2 disc album are great for background music, but they rate better as foreground listening. Highly recommended.

From their studio somewhere in Zurich Switzerland, Ernest Maeschi & Karen Diblitz once more take "old fashioned" electronic musical devices and create wonderment for the ears. This 3rd SSSU album took a while to grow on me, but is now firmly placed as my 2nd-favorite of theirs (right after THE FLUID SOUNDBOX). "The Spacesound Effect", "Senor Lopez", and my favorite "The Twisting Spy" are all stand-outs that have wedged their way into my mind like a beautiful, melodic form of brain-washing (hey, it's better than TV commercials!). They have 4 albums out now, and every one's a winner!

If this grabs you and just isn't enough, also seek out THE MEN FROM S.P.E.C.T.R.E. (who have 2 CDs and 2 45s from Sheep Records, also in Switzerland; Maeschi is their producer!), Enoch Light's PERSUASIVE PERCUSSION, as well as NEEDLE'S EYE and ELEMENT X by Helsinki Finland's THE CYBERMEN (not available in the US, find their website for info). Now, why doesn't anyone issue some of that really cool stuff from the "KPM" stock music library? With the likes of Martin & Coulter, David Lindup, Johnny Pearson, A. Hawkshaw, K. Mansfield & Syd Dale, it would go well alongside SSSU!

This, the third CD by this Swiss duo, is by far their best effort yet. It does not fit in any particular category and therefore does not get much airplay. This is a real tragedy when ninety percent of what does get airplay is nothing but assembly line commercially manufactured garbage.

Possibly the best of the 2 Unlimited studio albums (Get Ready, No Limits, Real Things). Not as much tempo variation as Real Things, but rhythm and bass lines are better. Track order is strange, though, with two chill out tracks at the end.
