Product Description
Kylie's 5th solo album from 1994 was definitely the start of the second phase of her career. From the first notes of the opener 'Confide in Me,' you know this is not the teen pop queen of old. 10 tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Nice suprise.......2007-03-03

I became a Kylie fan late in the game. I didn't know what to expect from this album, just ordered it because I like her. I have to say that I love it. If you have just heard FEVER and BODY LANGUAGE you are in for a surprise. If you like the dancefloor radio ready music of those releases (BTW, I LOVE both of thos albums as well) you may not like this right off, but the more I listen the more I love it. I already loved Kylie but this album made me realize there is more to her than I knew about. And, I like it. Give it a try......

5 out of 5 stars ONE of her best.......2006-07-29

The album featues a wide range of songs. From the indie "Some Kind OF Bliss" to the magical "Breathe", and the wicked "Dreams", this is my qual favourite Kylie album, with Light Years.

5 out of 5 stars Kylie Did It Again.......2006-05-01

This is a deep cd. a lot of people like to label this as an "indie rock" cd. i say that this is kylie, but more on a personal level. here's the track list
1. too far - some deep lyrics. love the music and vocals
2. cowboy style - this is one of the indie rock tracks. great song
3. some kind of bliss - love the song.
4. did it again - another indie rock song, but i still love it.
5. breathe - one of my favorites. really hypnotic song
6. say hey - i love the music
7. drunk - another favorite song. pretty deep lyrics. starts off with dark music and ends lighter
8. i don't need anyone - love it. faster rock!
9. jump - sounds more like a slow r&b song. sexy
10. limbo - love the music, deep lyrics once again.
11. through the years - slower r&b feel. love the sax
12. dreams - the closing of the album. great song to end with
one of the greatest cds kylie's ever made. everyone should have this cd

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING!.......2006-03-21

This cd is incredible- there is so much more to Kylie than what America knows!!!

5 out of 5 stars Kylie's best by far.......2005-10-14

In my opinion, Kylie reached her creative peak with this album; it was original, creative, dark, and Kylie wrote all of these songs. Which other album do you know that combines orchestration, trip-hop beats, pop, dance, hip-hop, alternative and sex? I know not many.....

It is such a shame that Kylie stilldoesn't release music as original as this. Her sales may not be as high if she released catchy pop songs like Spinning Around - which the listener may get sick of when heard multiple times - but this album is very durable - Her more diehard fans will enjoy it more - I never thought I would see such creative, and complex, songs like Through The Years or Say Hey as a highlight, but after many listens, I now (with Jump, Too Far and Dreams, my two favourite Kylie songs), consider them to be in my top-10 favoutite Kylie song list, not that there is one.

The only songs I don't like is I Don't Need Anyone - it just doesn't fit in between the inaccessible tracks Drunk and Jump. And Some Kind Of Bliss is borrderline, but all of the other tracks are very very good, but if I waas to pick a lowpoint, it would be around tracks 3-5 i.e the singles. I prefer original, creative and meaningful songs as opposed to pop, which is why I think that the singles and track 8 are the worst, but all of the other tracks are SPECTACULAR - quite a contrast, actually.

The album sold quite poorly compared to her others in the UK. It only went Silver (Kylie's lowest certification) and its chart run in the UK was: 10-22-41-70; I think fans that liked the more pop Kylie weren't really 'ready' in a way for an album so different from all of her others, but with a successful tour to promote this album, Australia saw this album for what it is. It went Double Platinum and peaked at #4.
Singles were respectively:
Some Kind Of Bliss (#22 UK, #27 Aus)
Did It Again (#14 UK, #15 Aus)
Breathe (#14 UK, #23 Aus)
Cowboy Style (Australia only. #36, Aus)

If you liked this album similar to how I haved (i.e liking non-singles over singles etc.) I recomend anything by Bjork - because this Cd is VERY bjork infulenced, Tori Amos, Goldfrapp or so on. Note: There are many people comparing this album to Madonna's Ray Of Light - this album is far better. Compared to this it is bland.

5 out of 5 stars "Kylie Goes Indie".......2007-02-14

That was the title of almost all news about Kylie in 1994! After P/W/L years, Kylie released "Confide In Me" as her first single from self titled album. It was a shock for those who were waiting for a new PWL production track. So, the first single of the album received both positive and negative criticism from authorities.
As a Kylie fan, i can honestly say that this is my favorite Kylie album. The down tempo tracks such as "Automatic Love" , "Dangerous Game" and "Put Yourself In My Place" are the songs where you can hear Kylie's incredible vocals best. I was like "OMG" when i first heard these songs. Confide In Me is another bend of the album where Kylie really "goes" indie pop and succeeds it. The amazing "Surrender" is another cool song which follows Confide In Me and makes you wanna listen to it over and over again. The rest of the album is also full of Kylie's experimental songs such as "Falling","Where Has The Love Gone?" which makes you feel like you're chillin' after a party. "Where Is The Feeling?" and "Time Will Pass You By" are the other amazing songs where you can hear Kylie's vocal at her best.
The bonus CD also includes cool remixes of the tracks i've mentioned above. Justin Warfield's "Confide In Me" remix, Dangerous Overture, and acoustic sessions from Kylie with songs such as "If You Don't Love Me" and "Put Yourself In My Place" are rarities which you can hear only from this CD. On the first impulse, i can recommend this album to all Kylie Minogue fans as a must or to guys who misses 90's and wants to listen to some good pop music. Because this album is where you can find "too much of a good thing".

4 out of 5 stars 1994 Studio Album.......2006-04-26

Between 1988- 1992, Australian Pop diva, Kylie Minogue notched up a series of U.K Top 10 smash hits (4 of those going to No.1) on the PWL record label, under the guidance of Stock, Aikten And Waterman.

However in 1993 she left the label and completely re-invented herself, signing to the dance label, Deconstruction. In mid 1994 she returned to the charts with the hauntingly atmospheric, Confide In Me, which still stands as one of her most compelling recordings. Kylies vocal delivery had clearly improved since the days of I Should Be So Lucky and now had a neat little sound of her own going on. Confide In Me with its mesmerising musical arrangements, quickly catapulted to No.2 on the U.K charts. (however she has never really cracked the American market though has indeed gathered up a series of loyal fans over there).

Surrender is a funky slice of Pop where Kylies delivery is breathy and seamless and really brings out the natural qualities in her voice. The multi-talented, Prince produced the funky, swinging, If I Were Your Lover, which is uplifting in its tone and was worthy of a single release with its striking mixture of musical arrangements.

The fantastic dance cut, Where Is The Feeling?, is of significant musical value. Merrily bouncy, the track features an uplifting performance from its star which coats the infectious rhythm. Put Yourself In My Place is a more mid-tempo track where again her true vocal abilities gets chance to shine brightly.

What stands as one of the albums highlight is the breathtakingly beautiful ballad, Dangerous Game, with its compelling musical arrangments to Kylies sensual and exuberant vocal delivery. The track leads to an exalting climax on which she sounds utterly fabulous. Kylie proves she certainly can indeed hold a note on the sensational, Automatic Love where her performance is assertive and vastly solid.

The album then scores one of its ultimate highlights with the fantastic Dance/Pop track, Where Has The Love Gone? which again leads to an exalting climax and is so jamming and infectious with its arrangements. More mesmerising is the hypnotic, trance-like tone of Falling, which features an angelic performance from its star.

What then appears to be leading up to a grand final, is let down by the surprisingly lacklustre, Time Will Pass You By, which was produced by 1990's pop sensation, M People, which was fronted by Heather Small. Its average enough but lacks spark and the dynamic force of the rest of the album.

Still, all in all, this album refreshingly revitalised Kylies recording career and is amongst the divas greatest accomplishments. It became a big seller in the U.K though received little recognition in the U.S. A classic in her repotoire.

5 out of 5 stars I think this is Kylie,s best album .......2005-07-13

it,s perfect I THINK EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM couldhave been released as singles this should have been put out in america but wasn,t which is a real shame. even if your not a pop fan this is still worth trying

5 out of 5 stars Not my favorite but I still love it.......2005-07-03

I am a huge Kylie fan and I bought this remastered 2 cd version of "Kylie Minogue" last year. The first disc is the original cd and although I love most of the songs, it is starting to sound dated. The songs that I listen to the most on the first disc are: Confide in me( I fell in love with that song the very first time I heard it.), Put yourself in my place, Dangerous game, Automatic love, and Time will pass you by. Where is the feeling?, Surrender, and If I was your lover are songs that have grown on me since I got it. The bonus disc mainly consists of remixes but it has Nothing can stop us, Love is waiting, and Dangerous overture as unreleased tracks. My favorite remixes are Confide in me(Justin Warfield mix), Put yourself in my place(Dan's old school mix) Where is the feeling?(Acoustic version), Time will pass you by(Paul Masterson mix), Confide in me(Big Brothers mix)-which mixes parts of Dangerous Game in it-, Put yourself in my place(acoustic version), if you don't love me(acoustic version), and my ultimate favorite- Confide in me(French version). The version of "Kylie Minogue(or KM94) is a must for any Kylie fan and if you don't have any version of this cd yet, I recommend this one.

5 out of 5 stars best deconstruction album from kylie.......2004-02-18

This double album is excellent.Disc 1 is the original album and Disc 2(Bonus Disc)is full of remixes and a few b-sides.It also includes the French version of "Confide in me",which was only available on the Japanese version of this album.

Disc 1 tracklisting:

1.Confide in me(5.51)2.Surrender(4.25)3.If I was your lover(4.44)4.Where is the feeling?(6.58)5.Put yourself in my place(4.54)6.Dangerous Game(5.30)7.Automatic Love(4.45)8.Where has the love gone?(7.45)9.Falling(6.42)10.Time will pass you by(5.26)

I Don't really need to say much about these because all 10 songs are a masterpiece!!!!

Bonus Disc Tracklisting:

1.Dangerous Overture(1.19)2.Confide in me-Justin Warfield mix(5.27)3.Put yourself in my place-Dan's Old School mix(4.30)4.Where is the feeling?-Acoustic Version(4.50)5.Nothing Can Stop Us(4.05)6.Love is waiting(4.48)7.Time Will pass you by-Paul masterson mix(7.33)8.Where is the feeling?-West end TKO mix(8.11)9.Falling-Alternative Mix(8.39)10.Confide in me-Big brothers mix(10.28)11.Surrender-Talking Soul mix(4.25)12.Put yourself in my place-Acoustic Version(4.46)13.If you don't love me-Acoustic Version(2.10)14.Confide in me-French version(5.54)

The Justin Warfeild mix of "Confide in me" is very hip-hop heavy weight and is excellent. The Dan's old school mix of "Put yourself in my place" gets a total make-over!!!-one of the high spots on here.Check out the Acoustic versions for "Where is the feeling?,Put yourself in my place" and "If you Don't love me".Those are brilliant. The B-Sides "Nothing can stop us" and "Love is waiting" are very good."Nothing can stop us" is very interesting. The Paul Masterson mix of "Time will pass you by" is very very very good. The West end TKO mix of "Where is the feeling?"-OH MY GOD!!!! Did kylie really do this?...It is fabulous. The "falling" alternative mix is good-a bit of extendence in there and a giggle at the end of the mix, which wasn't found on the original version. The Big Brothers mix of "confide in me" goes on for more than 10 minutes and is very cool because it includes part of "Dangerous game" where kylie sings "Wake up baby, give yourself to me.I'm the one for you,I'll show you intimacy.Forever,no question, unbridle my affection. And you will feel my love explode in your direction".This remix presents you with a dub version, still good though. The talking soul mix of "Surrender" leaves kylie talking through the whole song and the beat is more R'N'B style, this time. Then the last track, the french version of "Confide in me".At last...Waiting is over and we get to here it on our remastered edition.Excellent work, kylie.

5 out of 5 stars This "Fever" IS The Cure!!!!.......2006-12-26

If there were ever a question such as "Why is Kylie the Queen of Pop and Dance Music," here is your answer. "Fever" sets the platinum standard for these genres with its flawless combination of Kylie's sultry, smooth and breathtaking vocal flair combined with masterful songwriting collaboration with Cathy Dennis, Rob Davis, Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher (to name but a few). This set is a deejay's best friend. Kylie has the knack for turning up the heat with stunning results.

Prime examples of Kylie's genius and talent break forward on tracks such as "Fever," "In Your Eyes" and "Dancefloor" (sultry and purely alluring with dance syncopation that gets to your soul). "Love At First Sight" is yet another diamond in this set with its pure EuroDance flair and, as always, smooth polish of Kylie's spunk and verve. What's more, as a perfect pairing, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" and "Come Into My World" both define the club anthem attitude and sound.

As "Light Years" set the stage for Kylie's continued reign into the 21st century as the pop and dance music queen, "Fever" proves that Kylie retains that title.

"Highlights include "Fragile", "Give It To Me" and "Love Affair"

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money!.......2006-06-25

Well, I already owned a copy of Fever, but I'm a collector of Kylie. I think this was well worth the cost. The rare tracks, "Good Like That, Baby, Whenever You Feel Like It, and Tightrope," are great, and I have no idea why they weren't included on the album, rather than the two tracks that I hate. And tho I'm NOT complaining, I don't understand why "Butterfly" was included, as its from Light Years. The remixes are also a plus, as its nice to get some variety and a new spin on the widely recognized "CGYOOMH." (And its true, the slipcase actually says "ButterFRY," not "ButterFLY.")

5 out of 5 stars As if Fever weren't already good enough...........2005-08-05

You get the original album, with 6 ADDITIONAL SONGS!!!! And we're not just talking about "cast-offs". We're talking additional B-sides that will get your booty shaking. "Good Like That", "Boy", "Baby", "Butterfly", "Tightrope", and "Whenever You Feel Like It". You all seriously need to purchase this Japanese import as it also includes the amazingly spectacular video for "Come Into My World" which will blow your mind.

I bought mine used on here for half the amount. I suggest you do the same. I got mine within 3 days. And on a funny side note...the outside cover of this japanese limited edition lists the song Butterfly as "Butterfry". I swear...it does.

I highly recommend getting this!

5 out of 5 stars FEVER sure has got me good!!!!.......2005-03-31

I think this may well be the best packaging of any Japan album that has been made! It is PACKED with loads of stuff compared to the original release of the album! Nobody can quite package an album like the Japanese can... It's just amazing! This version of the album, and the original version if that, are definately love at first sight! Anyway, here's what you get!:

~ Disc 1 includes the full 12-track album plus 4 bonus tracks. 3 B-Sides including Boy, Good Like That and my personal favourite Baby, plus a very good track called Butterfly, from the Light Years album!

This disc is worth the album alone but the second disc is also very great!!!

~ Disc 2 includes remixes of hits such as Can't Get You Out Of My Head (2 remixes), In Your Eyes (2 remixes), Love At First Sight (2 remixes) including the US Ruff And Jam Version & Come Into My World, the very excellent Fisherspooner Mix.

~ Disc 2 includes Whenever You Feel Like It, a track from the Scooby Doo soundtrack and Tightrope, another excellent B-Side. It Also features Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head, but that can be classed as a remix of Can't Get You Out Of My Head I suppose. It is, dare I say?!?!, better than the original!

~ Disc 2 includes 4 excellent music videos. Including the superb smash Can't Get You Out Of My Head, the excellent videos for In Your Eyes and Love At First Sight, which are both quite similar, plus my personal favourite Kylie video (along with Did It Again, not on this album) Come Into My World!

The remixes, videos, new tracks, singles and album tracks from the album 'Fever' (Japan Hyper Edition) are excellent! Pick it up if you find it! Despite the expensive and high price tag, it is still well-worth it!

5 out of 5 stars This album is defenetily Love @ 1st sight!!!!.......2004-05-19

if you already have Fever or not U have noooo idea what are you missing , This is the best Kylie Package since the Tour edition Of Light Years.

5 out of 5 stars Extraordinary collection! Classics galore!.......2002-03-29

If you are looking for a collection of romantic songs to be played while having a drive or a walk with your romantic interest or even by yourself, this is the one to have: issued by the European Sony/Bravo label, it focuses on the songs who were on the radio in the 80's. If you are a "son of the 80's" and enjoy music to awaken your contemplative and quietest side, buy it! While hard to find outside the US, it is worth having. Further recommendations: purchase also Volumes 2, 5 and 7, which are MUCH better than some of the most recent items of the collection.

5 out of 5 stars Very artistic and daring album .......2005-03-31

The original edition of the album 'Impossible Princess' is excellent. You get 12 tracks and a really good taste of Kylie's deconstruction years! This, however, has a 3-D cover and is very limited. It includes the amazing bonus track 'Tears' and also has 2 holographic prints of Kylie which are just so beautiful! You may be thinking you don't want to spend $39 on this CD, but if you're a REAL Kylie fan, you know you want to!

You can also get the re-mastered edition which includes a bonus disc with 12 tracks, 9 remixes and 3 brand new tracks including 'Tears'! Buy now! It is a great buy! Just pick it up!

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as it is hyped to be.......2004-07-05

Impossible Princess is not that great an album I'm afraid, not as much as it is often hyped up to be, I don't know why many people make such a big fuss out of this album, it really is highly overrated.

I think it's highly regarded by the fans since it's the first thing that kylie has done that isn't of the usual cutesy bubbly pop standard she mainly churns out.
All of sudden people think it gives her the right to be taken seriously as an artist, but it's just highly contrived, and it looks as if kylie tried desperately to jump on the Britpop bandwagon that sweeped the UK in late 1997.

IP isn't anything unique or that out of the ordinary, people had done this before her to a better standard. It's Kylie trying to cast herself in the Bjork/Tori Amos scenario. Unfortunately, she just fails, because she is not them, only Kylie Minogue.

Her fans no doubt will love this though, but you've got to forgive them a little! they don't want Kylie to end up as this little manufactured pop starlet she came to be known as singing other people's songs forever more, and just be known for being a bit of alright.
It's justification to them that Kylie has something more to offer and that there really is more than hot air in her head. Personally, I think Kylie does the cutesy girl pop icon thing we all came to know and love better.
The IP thing comes across as slightly pretentious if you ask me, and it sounds as though Kylie is desperate to be liked, like she is trying far too hard to appeal to older people.
5/5 for the effort though, but it just falls flat in the end in my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars So, so good!.......2002-08-21

Impossible Princess is easily Kylie's best CD. It's a mature statement of who the woman is, how she feels, and why she acts the way she does.

The music itself cannot be classified into a specific genre. Songs range from having a rockier feel (Some Kind of Bliss, I Don't Need Anyone), to being dancier (Tears), to being trancy (Breathe). The only constant factor in each song is a feeling of greatness. Each and every song is fantastic, and Kylie very obviously knows it.

I recommend this CD to almost anyone. It really is a fantastic album

5 out of 5 stars Some kind of bliss.......2002-05-06

2002 is Kylie Minogue's year. "Fever" has reintroduced the United States to the Aussie pop princess with her first US hit in years "Can't Get You Out of My Head". I personally have rediscovered Kylie with "Light Years" a couple of years ago. I have heard nothing but good things about "Impossible Princess" which some fans consider Kylie's most personal album to date like "Behaviour" was to the Pet Shop Boys. "Impossible Princess" is definitely different from "Light Years" and "Fever". Those albums is much disco-influenced in comparison to this album. "Impossible Princess" is a mixture of pop and rock but still danceable nonetheless. I didn't know what to think of this album on the first listen but on the second time I listened to the album, the songs just really clicked with me. I absolutely loved "Cowboy Style" and "Some Kind of Bliss", two of my favorite tracks off the album. I don't think people who got hooked on Kylie with "Fever" would be much interested in "Impossible Princess" since there really isn't a single tune on this album as catchy as "Can't Get You Out of My Head" but for those who want tto explore Kylie's back catalog, this is the album to get. Now while it sold poorly, "Impossible Princess" is an artistic success for Kylie. This album is quite a contrast to "Light Years" and "Fever", and equally enjoyable to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars Pure poetry,! Kylie's best and most introspective........2002-03-23

Regardless of the mixed reviews it received, this album was one of the best albums by any pop artist in the 1990's. Why?
Firstly her lyrics are moody and self reflective, one almost gets the impression the album is her conscience talking back to her. Did it again could mean so many things, but it certainly suggests the wisdom of someone trapped in a corner and looking to get out.
So many of the songs reflect aspects of her own awarness about being in a place that one does not want to be. She almost seems to lament at times, as in Drunk, and at others she reminds herself to Breath. In Limbo she is back in the chaos, with lines like' "I need to save me from myself".
One gets the impression this album was her response to the crazy affair she no doubt had with Micheal Hutchinson, and Nick Cave. Those bad boys of vice. She seems to be writing lyrics as if they are her thoughts about self preservation during the hurly burly relationships. It captures the mood of the time just before it peaked late last year as we all confronted.
I think that her lyrics on this album reach a poetic climax, as if she felt the need to sing about the things cute pop singers ought not sing about. Perhaps that is why it never took off, one can not imagine dancing away to Too Far with out feeling a little assaulted, or abused. Yet musically it is diverse, and is an exceptionally campy take on all the feelings sweet young girls ought to veil. Kylie shows guts and lets it all hang out.

The remixes were hard core and dark, yet at the end she still reminds us that through all the chaos of life, Dreams are still our best antidote. If only the last track did not end so abruptly, and had faded with her impro singing instead, (but that is the only criticism I have).
I think this album made me appreciate her beyond any criticism she might wear. She extends herself and takes risks, and it works. However the first few spins were not as catchy as her pure pop efforts, this one takes a few spins and the desire to gain a bit of substance from the music rather than just a sweet taste. I played this album until it was scratched to bits and worn out to tell the truth.
It is not pop, not rock, not disco it is a collage of all three. This made it a difficult album to embrace but it goes further than any of her others, and reveals a soul behind the music which is afraid and foolish, frail but definitely human.
The cover art was a perfect compliment as well!
