There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley
Album Details
Volume Two Includes the Memorable Renditions of 'like a Virgin' and 'your Song' and 'the Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular).' It also features a Mix of the Nicole Kidman Song 'one Day I'll Fly Away.'
Customer Reviews:
Wow........2007-01-15
I must say...I was very glad when they released Part Two of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Don't get me wrong...the first part was great and all, but it was nothing spectacular. I was specifically looking for certain songs from the movie, and I was completely disappointed when they were on there. The release of a second soundtrack was, in my opinion, an absolute necessecity.
The highlights of the album are:
-Your Song (Instrumental)
-Sparkling Diamonds (original film version)
-Come What May (original film version)
-The Show Must Go On (original film version)
In my opinion, "The Show Must Go On" is the best song on this album...it was just so perfect for the ending of the movie, and I fell in love with the song. I was so disappointed that it wasn't on the first soundtrack. This song is part of what makes the second soundtrack so amazing...the song is fierce!!
If you love the movie and are a fan of the first soundtrack, then definitely, get this one. Many of the songs are versions taken straight from the movie - I recommend this with 4.5 stars...you will NOT be disappointed!
Love this CD.......2006-07-04
I love everything about this movie. The music is amazing and the instrumental songs on this CD are perfect. The first CD seemed to be more for a bunch of teenyboppers that wanted to hear the worst song on the whole CD (Lady Marmalade). If only they could combine the good songs from the first CD into this one.
I gave this 5 stars even though it's about a 4.5 because they split the soundtrack over two seperate cds.
Could it get any better?.......2006-03-02
So i thought that the first instalment in these soundtracks was great (and it was) but the purchase of this sequel is a must if you want the full effect. With the original film versions of these songs, sung by the stars of the movie, you get the real feel that was the magnifisence of Moulin Rouge! Ewan McGregor is still by far the star, with his talent spilling over the dramatic lovesong 'Come What May' and 'Your Song', but Nicole's brilliant performance as Satine definatly takes front and center in 'One Day I'll Fly Away' and the film version of 'Sparkling Diamonds'...I have noticed that many complain about how the first soundtrack did not include the film version of this song...well you need this CD then...you will not be dissapointed. Other highlights include 'Like a Virgin' which is downright histarical, and the dark cover of 'the show must go on' which highlights the tragidy behind this tightly woven tale. THis is one must have soundtrack for your ever growing collection. A perfect companion to soundtrack number 1!
Moulin rouge tried to fill up the GAP.......2006-02-12
This contains many great tracks missing from the original soundtrack, including Like A Virgin, Spectacular Spectacular and The Show Must Go On. I thought the inclusion of two instrumental versions of Your Song might be a bit redundant, but upon listening to them I really enjoyed them and they are quite different from one another. OK, it's not the best soundtrack that could have been put out. But it's pretty darn close. One thing that many DEDICATED fans of the movie (including myself) said is that the original movie soundtrack lacked the actual original movie score. There are 10+ songs in "Moulin Rouge" and many didn't make the final cut.
Baz did the smart thing, taking the audiences favorite music, a few gems from the first soundtrack such as "Come What May" and "Sparkling Diamonds" as well as a few new songs, like "Like a Virgin", "The Show Must Go On" and "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)" and releasing the Original Film versions, allowing for the amazing vocal performances of the actors, including the fabulous Jim Broadbent, to be shine through. Also, released is background music "Meet Me in the Red Room", played during Christian's arrival in the elephant, marking the only non-actor/orchestral piece within the context of the CD.
One thing that this soundtrack included that I didn't expect was several orchestral pieces that were mostly used as background music throughout the film. "Your Song - Instrumental" (#1) has personally become a favorite and is constantly being repeated in the CD player. Also included is the ending credits music "Bolero" and the final piece ... known as "Ascension/Nature Boy". Also included is a remix of "One Day I'll Fly Away", and like all MR remixes, is a little tough to listen to at first but after repeat listening, it becomes music to your ears.
To all you MR diehards out there: this is a must. Not like I could stop you anyways. To others who haven't been introduced to the spectacular (spectacular) world of Moulin Rouge, this is a great introductory piece, especially side-by-side with the first soundtrack.
ahahahahaha.......2006-02-01
Everything the other customers are saying is true: more music from the film, thankyouverymuch, not irritating pop conceits like the first. However, I would not have reviewed this album unless I found it absolutely necesary to point out that, in the climactic moments of track 5 "Come What May," Ewan MacGregor's voice is for some reason missing and replaced by a bizarre, operatic man's voice. It truly had me crying with laughter the first few times I heard it, and I wanted to share this wondrous discovery with the world.

Monsoon Wedding is Mychael Danna's second collaboration with film director Mira Nair, (Kama Sutra was the first), and he has again compiled a winning soundtrack. Danna explores a wide range of emotions, from solemn to celebratory, through different generations of Indian culture. The contemplative "Good Indian Girls" and "Hold Me, I'm Falling" feature Danna's trademark piano ambience over traditional Indian instrumentation, and the vivacious "Baraat" sounds like a Punjabi variation on Dixieland, while "Delhi.com" ventures into dreamy ethno-techno territory. Sukhwinder Singh's "Today My Heart Desires" serves up lively bhangra rock, and Laxmikant Pyarelal's "Today the Weather Plays Tricks on Me" (performed by Mohammed Rafi) swoons with strings and male vocals. In all, the soundtrack's pleasing variety of Eastern music mirrors the film's old and new worlds living within a singular culture. --Bryan Reesman

Monsoon Wedding Soundtrack is Terrific.......2007-05-18
I really enjoyed the movie and was pleased to find the soundtrack. Great cd if you're a fan of Bollywood!
Loved it!.......2007-03-24
I just saw the movie MONSOON WEDDING and I absolutely loved it! Of course, I just HAD to have the soundtrack, so I bought the Cd recently and loved it too! WOW!
The Cd will leave you in a happy mood... Wonderful up-beat songs, many are so danceable and hipnotic. I've been playing this Cd all week ...I just wish it were longer because I would love to have more Cds like this in my Cd collection.
Just as fabulous as the movie!.......2007-01-31
This is an excellent soundtrack from an excellent movie. The music is fantastic - makes you want get up and move your feet! It's got such a happy, wistful, exotic flavor throughout the CD. I think this will probably be one that I wear out from listening to it so much!
Love It, Love It, Love It.......2007-01-21
I just love this CD. I'm preferential to the work of Mychael Danna and this is another awesome work of his. There is everything from old Indian love ballads to the popular Bollywood music of today, with some very beautiful instrumentals in between.
I'd recommend seeing the movie too. As well, I'd check out Danna's music for another Mira Nair movie, "Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love."
Culture-Happy-Dance-Reflect-Appreciate-Savor-Relax-Laugh.......2006-11-06
Above I listed some words that first came to mind when I thought about this cd.
It is very Culture rich and soaked in Indian flavor. It's colorful and makes you happy with a laugh or two; as it seeks to portray the traditional music typical of a Punjabi wedding in Delhi, India.
You want to dance with most songs and sit quietly to reflect with others. I listed appreciate because we often don't sit back to appreciate the richness that other cultures provide. My 2 year old appreciates this music in her broken wanna be Hindi mimic.
She dances as does my 6 year old to this music. It's really a great CD but I would recommend seeing the movie first.

The latest Top Ten Dance Release from Grammy Winning Artist Jody Watley is a modern makeover of the CHIC classic! For all generations!!
Album Description
Jody Watley's second single from her critically acclaimed LP The Makeover. Watley makes over the Chic classic for modern dancefloors. Remixes by Soulcast Icon, Morgan Page, Masi + Mello, Shawn Q, Angel Manuel, Cristian Paduraru, Danny Krivit, Chindigital and more.
Customer Reviews:
Brilliant!.......2007-05-23
The Soulcast remix alone is worth the price of this CD single. Jody has struck gold once again with this fantastic remake of the Chic classic. It's truly a shame that Jody no longer gets the attention that she deserves.
Warm, Sensual....WATLEY!.......2007-05-17
A cover of the 1979 Chic disco classic, Jody Watley's cover of "I Want Your Love" sounds more sincere in its feminist assertion of sexuality than the original. Exquisitely sung by Watley, the track boasts several remixer reinterpretations.
Of course, the most well-known remix is the Soulcast Icon mix (available here in both full and edited forms). The gentlemen of Soulcast -- Massimo Sanna and Franceso Giovanni respectively -- effortlessly recast the song as a ecstasy-fueled circuit synth-track. The Masi and Mello Late Nite Vocal Mix continues in this vein, though it is considerably darker than the other mixes. The Morgan Page Sunset Strip Mix is the most subdued (and atmospheric) remix on the single -- though no less sexy. And Watley's impassioned contralto is on display throughout, inspiring in its rawness -- enticing in its warm and passionate delivery.
"I Want Your Love" easily reaffirms Jody Watley's status as one of souful dance music's most agile singer/performers!
THIS IS JODY WATLEY AT HER SUPER BEST YET!!!.......2007-04-07
Avid music lovers such as myself will instantly think "Shalamar" or "Looking For A New Love" when they hear the name JODY WATLEY. If you're not familiar with this name or the music of this artist, then you must be under the age of 20, in which case you're forgiven for not knowing. However, the 30 somethings amongst us know what I'm talking about. When Jody Watley emerged on the scene as a solo artist, many people thought that she would just dissappear after one hit or two. But she proved them all wrong when she won the Grammy Award for best new artist, as well as garnering a few other nominations! This lady rivaled even MADONNA herself in popularity, in style, in songwriting, and it was her second album "Larger Than Life" that established Jody Watley as a pop icon, or as some like to refer to her, "The Queen Of Class". While the mainstream seemed to have lost an interest in Jody Watley, her fans never did. Because Jody Watley is not an artist one can place in any one category. Not only can she do pop music, she also does funk, she is an incredible jazz vocalist (have a listen to the song "After You, Who", which is featured on the album "Red Hot & Blue: A Tribute To Cole Porter"), she is also an incredible balladeer (listen to "It All Begins With You" on her "Affairs Of The Heart" album), and always wanting to travel different avenues, she took a trip down the Dance genre, to create two exceptionally acclaimed albums "Midnight Lounge" and "The Saturday Night Experience". Are you warming up to Jody Watley yet? Well, you should! Because next to being a singer, she is also a fantastic songwriter and producer, AND she owns her own record label, Avitone Records. Now, let's talk about miss Watley's last album "The Makeover". Or better yet, go and buy it! All I have to say about that album is: "This is how it's done, period!"
Her most recent single "I Want Your Love" is an incredibly "made over" version of the version that made the group "Chic" famous. There are 10 remixes of this song on this EP and I must tell you that every remix holds its own! My favorites are:
- The Soulcast Icon Mix
- Morgan Page Sunset Strip Mix
- Cristian Paduraru Vocal Mix
- Shwan Q Soltribe Mix
- Danny Krivit Edit
- Chin Digital House Party Mix
I would like to say that I am in no way, shape or form affiliated to Jody Watley, her management or recording company. I am merely her biggest fan in The Netherlands. Give this single a try, and I GUARANTEE you that it will have you on your feet in mere seconds!

Customer Reviews:
Stunningly beautiful and uplifting - best Nicolette album so far!!!!.......2006-04-06
This is definitely Nicolette's masterpiece. You can see the musical connection between this and her last two albums but this by far the most musically audacious, but catchy and infectious album to date. My fave is Groovy, a jiggly cover of the Simon and Garfunkel tune, but all the songs are pure gold. Ranging from ballady symphonic style electronica (fire in the heart) to drumnbass infuenced quirkiness (I Am where the party'sAt, Jenny) to to funky, soulful electronic pop (Wholesome, Soulfully) to whispering violins (Worship). It all sounds like a big colourful sonic celebration. And on top of it all Nicolette's amazing voice sends shivers down your spine. A unique treat - don't miss it!
Not as good as Let No One Live Rent Free In Your Head.......2005-12-30
which was sonically and musically all over the board and brilliantly experimental. However, Life Loves Us is Nicolette's most consistent release to date. Each track compliments the one before it creating a refreshing and uplifting listening experience. Presently, I AM WHERE THE PARTY'S AT, SOULFULLY and SUNSHINE are the tracks that stick in my head the most. The BIRTHDAY INTERLUDE is another in which Nicolette samples her friends singing Happy Birthday to her and turns in into a 30 second trip hop ditty. WHOLESOME is probably the oldest single released from Life Loves Us(and it is also where the album title comes from). It appears in a completely reworked (and highly superior) version on Plaid's Parts in the Post. The only setback to the disc is Nicolette wrote, produced, programmed and arranged every track. The absence of the production talents of Plaid and Alec Empire are obvious as some tracks (like the chorus of SUNSHINE or all of WORSHIP) are a bit murky and muddled with Nicolette's voice too high in the mix. A friend I played this for said it sounds like she got a Casio keyboard and plunked out a few songs and I can see his point. For example, the opening snyth swoops of SUNSHINE are frighteningly similar to the synth swoops sample on Music Generator for Playstation. It's not that bad, but Life Loves Us could have benefited greatly with an extra hand or two in the pot to stir things up a bit. Overall if you're a fan of Nicolette you won't be disappointed. Well worth the almost 8 year wait. 3 1/4 stars.
Great music, great singer with a unique style........2005-10-22
I have most of the Nicollette CDs, and I love this one the most. She brings a bright sunshine and exhuberance to her music. It is like listening to a form of drum and bass, mixed in with electronica. Some of the songs are very infectous and I keep hearing them in my head, and I begin dancing.

Great CD!!!.......2004-08-18
First of all, I've never really been a fan of synthpop, electro-pop, or whatever you call this type of music. However, when I heard Freezepop's song Super-Sprøde on my Amplitute PS2 game, I just know that I had to get the CD. The best way to describe the music and lyrics to this song is that they're just amazingly fun.
This CD contains the original Super-Sprøde and 6 remixes of the song. It also contains five other songs. I usually find that I'm disappointed with remixes, but a few of these are just as good or better than the original. Each remix is very different from the original and the other remixes...so much different, that it's almost like listening to seven completely different songs. The first three remixes are absolutely great, the next two remixes are just okay, and the last remix I just don't like at all. I was really suprized by the quality of the other songs. Lazy is a great song...and great to sing-along with. The other songs are also very good, with the exception of Freezepop Forever which I can only describe as too "hyper".
Overall, I'd highly recommend this CD. For more information on Freezepop, checkout their website at www.freezepop.net. There you'll find some samples of the songs on this CD.
To the other reviewer who thinks that Super-Sprøde contains the lyrics "Jesus scratched my car"...you might want to listen a little closer, the lyrics are acually "the cutest fans by far"...by hey, I got these lyrics wrong the first time as well.

Pity It's Only Remixed.......2001-01-23
This album was actually Deni's second Australian album, the first being the sublime 'Imagination'. 'Remix' is a gorgeous album with some great new tracks and remixes by the worlds best, but if you can get a hold of 'Imagination' buy both!
Cool cd.......2000-10-04
Anyone who buys this album will be totally blown away. It has such cool and positive music. One minute it's dance like with funky tunes, the next it's slow ballads, before turning to more thought provoking music. Anyway it's an album for all occasions. Absolutely excellent. If you love this album you'll definately enjoy any of her past music. thumbs up! Deni Rulz!
