This compilation communicates the importance of the Junior Boy's Own label via some of the more rare tracks included here. The last half of the second disc, featuring the likes of Black Science Orchestra, Junior Vasquez, and Dylan Rhymes, is ripe with exquisite dance opuses of punishing intensity. There are a few unquestionable classics as well. Primal Scream's "Loaded" remains untouched and still swaggers like a blissed-out monster inebriated on its own grooviness. Likewise, One Dove chanteuse Dot Allison glides down angelically upon shimmering keys and shuffling rhythms--the endless summer of love of the early 1990s is resurrected. While there are admittedly a few subpar tracks here that seem to exist only for mainstream or trainspotter acceptance, this is overall a hugely entertaining trip. The tunes still sound fresh, put forth by a label that never wanted to waste its time dancing to anything less than brilliant. --Bob Michaels
